Murrayfield Hotel

Loved the architecture and ambience of the hotel. Very clean and comfortable. Staff were helpful and it was nice having a restaurant on site. Great patio to hang out and enjoy drinks in the sun.

This hotel was very nice, clean, and comfortable! My room was on the third floor and while there is no elevator staff offered to carry any and all bags I had to my room. The large windows were great and I enjoyed the views. This hotel was close to a bus stop that could take me into downtown Edinburgh with ease! The food (and service) they had for breakfast was wonderful!

Great hotel. Lovely rooms, we stayed in the adjoining house. Food was fab in the restaurant, pricey but great quality.

We were very disappointed with parking. We stayed during a rugby match day, and the hotel had no parking available. We had to park half a mile away. We’ve stayed near Murrayfield during game days a few times and have never had a problem with parking. Hotel staff were ok. When we arrived we were just told to go wait at the back of the queue? People were waiting to get in to the restaurant area, which was just chaos.

The hotel was fantastic. But we booked this hotel to attend an event a Murrayfield as it came with parking. We arrived for check in to find the parking was closed off to make room for a gazebo for accommodating more people having drinks. People that were not booked to stay at the hotel. We then had to find a parking space which was a 10 min walk away from the hotel due to the fact streets were cordoned off and very busy with the event at Murrayfield. Very disappointed considering this was a big factor in booking the hotel.

The Murrayfield Hotel is very comfortable and though having a good restaurant on premises, it is also relatively close to other dining options by car or bus. Parking is available and plentiful too. While not an issue for us, there is no elevator/lift, so you must schlep your bags up at least 1 long flight of stairs.

it is a lovely hotel, huge room and even although there was a huge sporting event happening, we did manage to find parking. The staff is very lovely and friendly. The restaurant had a great atmosphere and delicious food. We very much enjoyed our stay here.

This was a great room! Very spacious, and we had a cute courtyard view. They also had a hotel restaurant that was great. We were able to find a parking spot, but there doesn't seem to be a ton of parking in the area. The hotel is a short walk to the tram terminal, which was very convenient for getting us into Edinburgh.

The first room we were given I'm sure was a lot smaller than the room booked and paid for. There was also a very large, brown (suspicious) mark on the carpet. The furniture had all seen better days and the chair in particular was so worn on the legs and base it shouldn't have been in the room. There was a filthy window onto a scruffy courtyard area. The room seemed to have only been made up for 1 person as there was only one bottle of water and one robe. We were transferred to another room in the house two doors down. The new room - * Also had a dirty carpet although not as bad as the first * The bathroom door didn't shut. This is a ground floor room and when the door swung a jar the main road was visable. * One of the sink plugs didn't work * The room key stopped working on a daily basis. When you are two doors away from reception and it was raining heavily, not good. Even reception were embarrassed at the frequency of this happening. We also witnessed another guest having to have his key reset so obviously a common problem * One of the plugs crackled and another worked intermittently - safe? * The phone socket came away from the wall * The bluetooth didn't work and in fact also came away from the wall exposing the workings - safe? * The blinds were filthy and one of them only came half way down * One of the pillowcases was stained and it took two days of leaving a note clearly asking for it to be changed. Just avoid, especially if staying more than one night.

The heating was not on when I got into the room Hairs were found on the sink

Kitchen on a sunday closed by 8.30pm Shower mould in grout Bathroom floor loose tiles missing grout Toilet roll holder and shower gel, Shampoo holder off wall, shower gel at sink not in shower. Overall poor condition nicer places to stay.

Clean room, friendly and helpful staff and lovely breakfast

The location was ideal for everything we had planned and the fact it had a free car park made things even better. The hotel was clean and tidy and the breakfast was delicious. However, it seemed their was only one member of staff working the breakfast slot which resulted in items running out such as the juices and glasses so we did have to chase this. I am failing to see how it is a four star hotel though. The bedroom had cobwebs hanging between the lamp shades and head board. The floor boards rattled every step taken whilst the shower was missing parts, in particular the buttons to turn it on and off. It became apparent a chair was being used to hold a draw shut as without it, it kept rolling open and the mini fridge was barely cold, almost useless. It may seem very negative but the hotel was lovely, it just doesn’t reflect the star rating it has been given. I would book again but with lower expectations.

Room is clean, cozy and has all convenience items.

Murrayfield staff are fantastic and the hotel room was very clean.The bathrobes and slippers were a nice touch. It is close to the tram that got us back to the hotel at midnight when no ubers were available and the military tatoo at the castle was over

Nice building but old and dirty. Owner needs to put some $$$ into it. Windows don’t open, cobwebs everywhere, dirty and in desperate need of a paint job.

The carpets were atrocious. Looked like someone had dumped bodily fluids. The floor also looked like sparkles were all over like a vacuum didn’t work. The window in the bathroom had no shade and looked across to someone’s apartment. The thermostat would not go lower than 21 and the room was quite hot. The window would only stay open when propped up.

Bed sheets and pillows were dirty. One of bottles of water in room was opened and half drunk. In morning went for breakfast restaurant it wasn’t that busy took 55mins for breakfast to arrive and all food was dry and overcooked probably the worst cooked breakfast we have ever had. Hand much better stays in a travel lodge for the half price. Must admit we did complain and they gave us a full refund.

It's a very cute hotel! Our room was very small so it was hard to move around but overall we enjoyed our stay.

Great hotel in Edinburgh by Murrayfield Stadium, so not in the heart of the city, but easy buses just outside the hotel to get you there. I really like the hotel, but the rooms are dated and need a renovation, although that is not a major negative. If the rooms could be spruced up the hotel would be exceptional if you prefer staying in non-chain hotels.

The 75ft room is too small for anyone. The receptionist (not the lady with long white hair, but the lady during the morning) during our check in and check out was pretty rude when we were enquiring about rooms and services. Rooms were not clean, linens were stained and Wi-Fi wasn’t working properly in our room. There were noises all around the hotel due to doors/creaking floors and outside work. The window in the room faced the portable bathroom which I’m sure everyone will agree is not a pleasant sight early in the morning.

The room was absolutely excellent and would happily stay here again. Staff is very friendly and very close to a bus station that brings you right into city center.

It was a lovely hotel but the bathroom door to our room didn’t shut and had a massive gap so you could see the other person using the toilet. We were also on the ground floor so it was very noisy from staff members out in the car park and visitors in other rooms. Such a shame because the lady we met at reception was lovely and the look of the hotel was great.

Super comfy beds - not a creak or a squeak! Deep topper and deep, soft pillows. Crisp bedding and fluffy towels. Lucky to stay /upgrade to The House next door to the Hotel. Delicious full Scottish breakfast. Staff very attentive and helpful.

The staff were great, friendly and helpful. However, the room was next to toilets and the constant noise from them was really annoying and also a door at the end of a very short corridor nearby kept opening with a squeaking noise then shutting with a bang. Very poor nights sleep.

The window only opened a crack and there was a common space right outside with people in it most of the time so we had to at least close the curtains for some privacy, which blocked the air. They left a fan in the room which was nice - clearly we were not the first to have the issue! The room and facilities were clean and the food we got from the restaurant was first rate. The road is very busy and the nearest neighborhood is down it and not the most scenic or useful of areas. However it is on the bus line this fairly convenient to the city center.

Overpriced - prices were almost quadrupled because of the Oasis concert and the room was nowhere near worth it. It was very small and quite dusty. Our window looked out at urinals in the carpark. A fire door in our corridor was propped open where an outdoor bar was - this felt unsafe. The staff did not accommodate a request to change the time of our meal by an hour despite the restaurant being less than half full.

The staff at the bar were very slow; we waited for 10 minutes to order our drinks. Additionally, the breakfast service was slow, and we waited for half an hour. The fried eggs were solid and hard. Furthermore, our room was tiny, and it was excessively warm because the radiator was on, and we couldn't turn it off.

Extremely short staffed and overall not a positive experience unfortunately.

This hotel accepts coach parties so our check in was slow due to having to wait for a coach party to sort their rooms out. We had a room in the house separate from the main hotel. It was on the ground floor looking out onto the very busy main road. Privacy and road noise were an issue as well as noise from the the front door being shut by other guests. The room was well appointed and very clean. The bathroom had a frosted glass door which had a gap around it. Again it was a privacy issue and if you went to the bathroom in the night you lit up the bedroom! Also the extractor in the bathroom didn't work. Breakfast was poorly organised with many tables having used cutlery and crockery left on them, service was slow. The breakfast itself was excellent. Well cooked with quality ingredients. It is well located for public transport into the city centre. Overall for the price charged I would have expected better.

Kate was wonderful. I’m from th US so don’t really know my way around. She helped me so much with finding places to go. She is so good at what she does and really makes you feel at home. Even the servers in the restaurant weee quite friendly. Great experience overall.

The receptionist was outstanding, could not do enough for us. Late for breakfast again staff could not do enough. Staff outstanding

Excellent location with free parking. Close to murrayfield and tram stop. Nice breakfast and food in restaurant. Staff very friendly and attentive especially Lindsey on reception so friendly and chatty.

Gorgeous hotel, bus stop right outside or 20 min walk to princes Street. 5 min walk to Haymarket and across the street from murrayfield stadium.

We had a lovely stay at the murrayfield perfect place to explore Edinburgh with bus stop right outside the hotel which took 5 mins to get into the city centre.

The staff were all very kind and the food & cocktails in the restaurant were incredible! I was in a junior suite and it was a lovely experience to treat myself to.

Having read some of the reviews on here, I was a little concerned and didn't have particularly high expectations. However, this place was really lovely. We had a fabulous, clean spacious room with a view onto the stadium across the road. The bed was comfy, which is a really important factor for me. We ate dinner in the restaurant the first night and it was lovely. We also ate breakfast both days, which was amazing. The hotel itself is in a fabulous location, with regular buses into town. You can also get the tram from the other side of the stadium. The area of Murrayfield is quiet and mainly residential, but there are some shops, pubs, and restaurants around. The free parking was a huge plus for us. The only negative is that the walls are a little thin and you can hear neighbours, but I think this is true of most hotels. Would definitely stay again, thank you.

The décor is lovely and the staff are fabulous. Great atmosphere too. The food was a little under value in terms of quality. Nearly there bit not quite. Expensive for basic food offer. Had to wait some time for my breakfast which wasn't really great. Not bad either. The facilities had a slight problem but the staff were very happy we mentioned it and would act on it immediately. Other than that all good.

Lovely friendly staff, comfortable, clean and quiet modern room. Convenient to the city by bus or an easy 30 minute walk. Skip the restaurant, there is better food elsewhere in the city.

When we checked in, the front desk guy was great! He gave us recommendations for the area and was so so nice! Place was clean and had an old feel about it, so we had to walk up a few flights to our room (front desk guy offered to carry our luggage). The room was small (to be expected as the building was very old) and a bit warm. There was a fan and a window though. They worked out well. We added breakfast to be included in our stay… everything was very good! Ate dinner there one night too. Yummy! We walked to the city center a couple times, then took the bus (easy to navigate). The bud stop was right outside the hotel. I’d stay again, for sure!

Stayed several times in the past and always enjoyed it. This time was very disappointing room very small no room to put anything. The two biggest complaints are the breakfast and service was very poor. I found it disappointing that the American way of adding a service charge on in the restaurant without pointing it out upsetting especially as in the past the Murrayfield was always excellent and we always looked forward to visiting. Not anymore
