Warm welcome at check in. Cosy fire in small lobby area. Room was comfortable, clean, spacious and tastefully decorated. We were located on the first floor, had a weekend stay and it was very quiet. No noise whatsoever. Tea and coffee facilities with complimentary tea cakes and water. Hotel offered 20% food discount in the adjoining restaurant and bar. Food was very good and there was a lovely atmosphere inside. Great location. Looking forward to a return visit.

On arrival, the reception area had been given over to a private function - a very large and noisy group of women celebrating together. In the midst of this I was expected to register 12 golfers complete with their luggage and golf bags - it was so noisy the process was impossible and NOT a good first impression there was absolutely no space to do the check in process - it was dreadful

Welcoming staff, rooms were clean. We did report a crack in the sink and also a faulty handle in the bathroom that was coming off and a risk of being not able to open the door from inside the bathroom, this wasn’t addressed unfortunately, so a bit disappointing. Room was Annie Lennox, be warned you do get some street noise from outside especially if any traffic is using the side street. We didn’t take the breakfast option on this trip. Would I stay again? Depends if the internal rooms were less noisy, can’t fault the decor, and the bar area was good and live music on certain nights

Elevator didn't go above second floor. Closed part of hotel for private party. Incredibly loud seagulls early in the morning. Nice bar and comfortable beds. Friendly staff. Very helpful. Good location.

Location is good for linking between the New & Old Towns. The outside & inside decor gives a chic friendly feel, as do the staff. One thing to be aware of, as with any Boutique hotel, no function rooms, so if the foyer or bar are rented out you will loose access to them as we did for 2 of our 3 nights. We had a Deluxe room, very spacious & well stocked. But a broken door handle and broken flooring spoiled it. Overall we liked and would recommend it.

Nice hotel in a historic building with lovely bar/restaurant. Rooms are small as is the norm in the area. It was very hot to sleep with no A/C and an ineffective fan with old windows that barely open however the bed was nice and we slept well in the end. Attentive staff. Checkout Johnny Walker rooftop bar next door!

Great hotel, interesting style, all the rooms named after famous Scots. The bar looked amazing and there was often a guitarist/singer. Huge range of drinks and a roast beef dinner to die for!

I loved the property's theme of famous media and sports stars. the facilities were good for the most part but because of the time of year (Christmas) we couldn't access the resident's lounge in the evening because it was booked for private Christmas parties. The staff were al very helpful and friendly and I would certainly recommend the hotel and go again.

Excellent stay. Very friendly and helpful staff member at check in. No hesitation in agreeing to our request for a 1 hour extension to our checkout time which was extremely helpful for our ongoing travel arrangements. Room was very spacious, extremely clean and had everything required for the modern day traveler. Will certainly return.

This is my “go to” hotel when I’m in Edinburgh, location is superb and the rooms are spotless. The restaurant is superb and the bar is one of the best cocktail bars in the City. It is a fantastic hotel.

Bathroom slider door full of toothpaste, looks like it never gets cleaned, we cleaned it. Dust on furniture. I thought in these days of covid, and deep cleaning, you wouldn't see things like this, but you do. Otherwise,great stay. Disappointing in level of deep cleaning.

Loved the location and the rooms named for prominent Scots and the b&w photographs. Room was well-equipped though there were not enough sockets. No housekeeping meant sopping towels, dirty cups, no replenished teabags and an unmade bed greeted me after a long day at conference. The uht milk was sour which wasted the last precious teabag - weird given that it could have been put in the fridge. For this reason only 4 stars given. Would be 5 easily if this were sorted out. The staff were efficient and friendly, breakfast excellent. Mid-week it was very quiet: it might not be so at weekends (hen/stag parties around) and given its brilliant location may be busy and noisy if there are large events on. Thoroughly recommend though -I’ll be going again.

I'm not sure if the room we had was worth the money we paid for it. The electrics were odd in the room: You could only turn the bathroom light on when the large room light was on, making nighttime trips to the bathroom impossible. The tempur mattress topped was too thick, making us wake up every time we needed to roll over. The shower had poor water pressure and was dirty. We also arrived back at our hotel at 10.45pm and had to cut through the very busy bar to get to our room as the hotel entrance was closed. I wish I had known that information ahead of time. Service was good however. But not convinced the hotel itself is a 4*. It's more of a 3*

Pros: Very warm welcome upon Checkin, the woman at the front desk stowed my bags and then had them waiting in my room once it was ready. The hotel has nice decor and my room had high ceilings. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all delicious and you get 20% off food when you let them know your room number. Cons: Sometimes food service was slow despite it not seeming busy at all. The second night, I tried to get dinner and no one greeted me despite me saying hello to two of the staff standing there. I waited awkwardly and then left to get food somewhere else. The room was otherwise clean but there was a dead fly in the coffee pour over and black mold on the bottom of the shower at the seam of the door.

Was a nice hotel but not as nice as I anticipated. Room wasn't ready for check in time so had to wait, which was not too much hassle but room looked like it was very quickly cleaned, lots of dust on floor around bed and in bathroom, looked like it hadn't been hoovered in a while. Pubic hair in bath also. Very load noise most of the stay in room for to external ventilation. Overall a pleasant hotel but probably wouldn't return.

The hotel´s location is very good with a popular bar on the first floor, The bar plays fairly loud music until 01.00 AM most days. As I had a room on the first floor it was dificult to sleep until after 01.00AM The hotel is otherwise OK but nothing special and somewhat overpriced.

The property is very well maintained, and the staff was excellent in all regards. However, some of the rooms (Including ours) are too small to be considered hotel rooms and the bathroom layout is impractical (you can't access the sink without backing into the wall behind you and despite the bathroom's small size, the tub/shower is so large and tall that a step ladder would make accessing it easier).

The location was great, right off of Princes Street and near public transportation. The price was reasonable and it got the job done for one night before leaving. I wouldn't stay again though and I wouldn't stay for longer. The room was hot even with the fan on. There was a large floor-to-ceiling window at the foot of the bed with frosted glass but no curtain, meaning that even in the middle of the night, the ambient city light was too bright, not to mention when the sun rose in the morning. The room wasn't too loud despite the central location but the seagulls definitely woke me up in the morning even with my earplugs. I nearly tripped in the middle of the night trying to get to the bathroom because I forgot about the three low stairs that separated the bedroom area of the room from the front entrance and the bathroom. I liked that each room was themed around a different famous Scot, but the giant pictures of their face over the bed was a little off-putting. Good for a quick stay in a pinch.

Just a really fantastic little hotel. Every staff member is super sweet and kind, and the hotel has a great atmosphere, and room we got, Sean Connery, was somewhat large and spacious with high ceilings. Great place.

Great property in an excellent position with staff that will do anything for you. The kitchen staff in particular went out of their way to cater for my significant list of allergies. Every morning and evening there was a delicious meal waiting for me. Our room was comfortable, clean and quiet and we had a delightful stay. We wouldn't stay anywhere else.

From check in to check out the angels share can not be faulted. We arrived early to see if they could hold our bags while we went out but room was ready and we’re checked in early, room was excellent with everything u need for a hotel. Had dinner in the bar downstairs which was lovely and get service there too plus the added bonus of 20% discount as we were staying there! On checking out they kept our luggage safe while we had a walk around the city. Highly recommended and we will be back

Amazing hotel! Great location! Great service upon late arrival from the girl with blonde hair and manager. The girl went even so far as to provide us emergency toiletries like toothbrushes and toothpaste since our luggage was lost. Amazing hotel! Great location! Great service upon late arrival from the girl with blonde hair and manager. The girl went even so far as to provide us emergency toiletries like toothbrushes and toothpaste since our luggage was lost. The location of the hotel was ideal. We walked from train station with our suitcases. The room was cute but tiny. The staff were very helpful and we took advantage of a very reasonably priced breakfast as well as a discounted dinner meal. The only issue we had was the outside temperature and inability to regulate the inside temp. Because the hotel is in the heart of the city, it is pretty noisy outside esp on weekend. The windows could be raised a little however then the noise couldn’t be contained. The room was very hot even with a fan provided. Also, the curtains were very thick which was great to keep out all the night lights however when closed, there was no air coming in from the outside. That part of our stay was not comfortable. It was very hot yo sleep. Possibly it could be better if your room is not directly facing Hope Street, therefore less noise and possibly less light coming in!

Warm welcome at check in. Cosy fire in small lobby area. Room was comfortable, clean, spacious and tastefully decorated. We were located on the first floor, had a weekend stay and it was very quiet. No noise whatsoever. Tea and coffee facilities with complimentary tea cakes and water. Hotel offered 20% food discount in the adjoining restaurant and bar. Food was very good and there was a lovely atmosphere inside. Great location. Looking forward to a return visit.

Great property in an excellent position with staff that will do anything for you. The kitchen staff in particular went out of their way to cater for my significant list of allergies. Every morning and evening there was a delicious meal waiting for me. Our room was comfortable, clean and quiet and we had a delightful stay. We wouldn't stay anywhere else.

From check in to check out the angels share can not be faulted. We arrived early to see if they could hold our bags while we went out but room was ready and we’re checked in early, room was excellent with everything u need for a hotel. Had dinner in the bar downstairs which was lovely and get service there too plus the added bonus of 20% discount as we were staying there! On checking out they kept our luggage safe while we had a walk around the city. Highly recommended and we will be back

Great hotel, interesting style, all the rooms named after famous Scots. The bar looked amazing and there was often a guitarist/singer. Huge range of drinks and a roast beef dinner to die for!

Pros: Very warm welcome upon Checkin, the woman at the front desk stowed my bags and then had them waiting in my room once it was ready. The hotel has nice decor and my room had high ceilings. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all delicious and you get 20% off food when you let them know your room number. Cons: Sometimes food service was slow despite it not seeming busy at all. The second night, I tried to get dinner and no one greeted me despite me saying hello to two of the staff standing there. I waited awkwardly and then left to get food somewhere else. The room was otherwise clean but there was a dead fly in the coffee pour over and black mold on the bottom of the shower at the seam of the door.

Had a great stay at the hotel arrived early they kept your bags so we could go explore the city when we got back to check in bags where already in room. Beautiful room and very spacious bathroom would recommend the hotel again. Staff where very friendly

Windows are very old and difficult to close. Bathroom door very stiff and difficult to close. Toilet didn't flush properly. We chose not to have breakfast as £18 each is very expensive.
