Very nice place to stay. We had maid service every day, and they gave us a whole cleaning Mid week. The lift was broken one evening so we used the stairs, but it was fixed by the next day!

This is a 3 star hotel and at this rating, the hotel is value for money. It's in a great location and it has the reception desk manned 24/7 together with which, they will store your luggage before and after check in/out.

We stayed at the Athena for 8 nights and it was perfect for our needs. The room was clean and comfortable, the front desk is staffed 24/7, and all the staff are friendly and helpful. We ate breakfast onsite a couple of days. It was a good value and offered more options than you generally get for a Europeans breakfast. This hotel was priced very reasonably compared to others in the area, and we were pleasantly surprised about how nice it was. The location near Paddington station can’t be beat. It is quick to get to Heathrow and anywhere in the city. There are also a lot of restaurants, shops and pubs nearby. It is only a few minutes walk to the station or to Hyde Park. Our stay was wonderful!

We stayed here because they had AC, not believing that we would need it. Everything was as expected except on arrival we had outlets that didn’t work until assistance came from the desk clerk. Our first night she said she turned the AC on. Second night we had no one at desk to assist and on the third a young man said, oh that room has no AC and went to get us a fan. Room was as we expected, but the comfort we wanted with AC was a big discomfort after long days in the sun.

The location is good to get around easily. The staff are helpful with requests for help and information. The room was clean and tidy. The hotel has limited parking but it is central London. A fridge and aircon would have improved the stay. Fans were provided in the hot weather to help us all sleep. We really enjoyed our stay at Athena.

Very well located, people at the front desk were pretty neutral and not really eager to go the extra mile to help, but there were polite so that’s fine, however I stayed 5 days and the elevator was out for 4 of those, which is unacceptable, especially when the room is charged at least 200£ a night, in 4 days not having someone to fix that was crazy.

Staff was great. Cleanliness could have been a lot better. When we pulled back the covers there was hair from someone else. Stains on the duvet and some of the towels. Didn’t appear that the sheets or duvet were changed during our 4 night stay. Walking distance to Paddington station was great.

Location is great. Breakfast was excellent. Personnel was polite. But white sheets were noticeably stained , there was a foot print in one. The room was too small for 3 beds (one queen/ two twins) making it really difficult to move around the room.

The room was booked for 5. 3 adult and 2 children aged 4 and 7. The picture of it made it look more spacious than it actually was. There were bunk beds for the children. The mattress on the top bunk didn't fit There were spaces at the sides. This showed the lattes under neath, there were full of dust. The double bed quilt cover was dirty. Reported it to reception who brought a new cover. I asked if she expected me to do it. She changed the cover. The new one had black spots on. I didn't bother to complain again. The single bed and the bunk beds were next to windows. Although the windows were shut there was a draft through them, they were also dirty. The lamps were covered in dust There was no ventilation in the bathroom. The shower unit was dirty The one and only chair had stains on It's not a place I would recommend because of the aforementioned

On appearance, everything looked pretty good until we were attacked by bedbugs in the middle of the night, my wife found a bedbug, actually crawling on her and was eaten all over her arm. I told the staff about it in the morning, didn’t seem too shocked.

Great location near Paddington station with lots of shops and early openings. Room was just manageable for 5. Bunk beds are best for younger kids and need a bit of maintenance. Bathroom was lux! Staff were very friendly and helpful.

the location to hyde park was good, about 13 min walk. Breakfast was good. the room was so small, it wouldn't have worked with big suitcases! No air con , 4th floor was hot, at least they provided a small fan. 1 of 2 usb ports worked. no room in the bathroom. no drawer or space on the sink for more than a tooth brush.

The one thing that I did not enjoy about this hotel was where our room was. It was in the basement and you really can feel like you’re in a dungeon. No direct light from any of the windows that were there. Just into an alley/hole through the middle of the building. And it was a maze of hallways to find your way to the exit. I didn’t complain about it tho. We were there to see the sights in London and it was a great location to Oxford street.

The room was way too small and could barely fit a double bed in it. It felt very claustrophobic. The thing that made it worse was that there was no air conditioning and it was in the middle of a heatwave. The man at reception did provide us with two fans to be fair. But overall, this room was not value for money at all.

We were greeted by Mel and Eva as we entered the hotel and they gave the best first impression ever! They were so helpful and we were able to check in early which was so nice, although they would have accommodated storing our luggage otherwise. The location was perfect with short walks to Paddington Station, restaurants, bus routs and hop on hop off bus pickup location. The hotel was spotless and there was always someone at the front desk. Would highly recommend.

Our first morning we woke up to screaming kids at 6 am I went to the front counter to look for help but instead I was met with a rude angry woman who proceeded to yell and scream at me on how she can’t do anything about this lobby was full of customers and she over talk me wouldn’t let me speak. Absolutely rude I would never stay here again I regret staying here never felt so embarrassed for me and my kid who ended up scared thinking we were gonna get kick out. We did nothing wrong to get treated like this especially for the money we paid. I work in the customer service industry and never ever treat a customer like this let alone talk to another human like this. 1/10 stars if I could I would ask for a refund. Back here in Canada I will do everything in my power to let everyone know how bad this place is and will continue to post on every social site about the The Athena. Bad , rude and not worth the verbal abuse we suffer from the staff at this facility

Great location! Close to bus lines, shopping, restaurants. Also a two block walk to Paddington Station to get off/on the train to the airport! We loved this place and will definitely stay again and tell our friends and family! It’s very clean and in a safe area. The continental breakfast was just enough to get us started. It’s not fancy, but was everything we needed. Staff were friendly and accommodating! Thanks for a great stay; wish we could have stayed longer!

The Athena provided the exact experience we sought for a short stay in London. Our teenagers had never been to London, and we had an extended layover from another trip, so we booked close to Paddington Station to get to and from the airport quickly. The strip of beautiful old homes weaved together on a square made for a fantastic setting. It is located off of a main road with plenty of restaurants to choose from and easy access to public transport. The hotel staff were so pleasant and helpful, and the check in went smoothly and quickly. We loved the authenticity of the building with small, steep, creaky stairs; a quaint, surprisingly roomy room with a double; located on the third floor with a pleasant breeze coming through the windows and a tabletop fan to keep cool in the summer. The bathroom updates were nice and the hotel overall added to our inner London experience, with character and charm. The continental breakfast is a nice way to end the stay, along with the option to hold bags. We may have found the quarters tight if we intended to spend any time other than sleeping and freshening up, but we went to explore London, not stay in the room, and we sought and appreciated the character of the property.

The rooms arw very small. If i had known i probably would have lokked for anoth option. It walking proximity to Paddington Station was nice to catch the train to Heathrow. The morning buffet was nothing special. No eggs or sausages. The front desk clerk was helpful.

Pleasant staff, easy checkin and checkout. Allowed me leave bagage in storage area for 4-5 hours after checkout. Breakfast 8.5gbp was probably worth the money but not inspiring. Good quiet location despite busy area. Lots of restaurants and small grocery stores nearby.

Great little hotel near Paddington station! Affordable room for a family of five. Room is cozy and clean. Nice place to rest, but not meant to really spend lots of down time in. No frills room - no fridge or recliners. 5 minute walk to Paddington station. Lots of eating options nearby. Staff are very pleasant and friendly. Continental breakfast hits the spot, servers bring toast to your table or hot porridge along with small buffet of other selections, including raisin rolls, croissants, yogurt, cereal, dried fruits, sliced cheese, cold ham and salami. Drinks include apple and orange juice, coffee and hot water for tea. Would stay again if going with family to London.

Stayed at the Athena many times during visits to London. Its in a great location and we always enjoy our stay. My only criticism is that they have now stopped serving full English breakfast and only offer continental for an additional charge.
