Offered a complimentary upgraded room for us on arrival. Room spotless, large comfortable bed, fridge, lovely toiletries in bathroom, tea, coffee, still & sparkling water and milk provided. We were on the top floor, very quiet at night so had a good nights sleep. Breakfast excellent in a very large room, good range of hot and cold options. Easy and fast check out. Underground parking under the hotel was £27 expensive but we have seen other hotels in London with extortionate prices so we were happy to pay. Only criticism was some areas of the car park were quite old and tatty but there were lots of spaces to park.

Disappointing Stay at Holiday Inn – Russell Square I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn – Russell Square, and unfortunately, this was one of my worst hotel experiences in years. The positives: good location next to Russell Square Station, good breakfast, and excellent housekeeping staff. Sadly, that’s where the positives end. The hotel is old, dated, and extremely basic—nothing about it feels 4-star. Several elevators were out of service, and the rooms are tiny and bare-bones. The front desk staff lack basic customer service skills, and management is dismissive and unhelpful. I booked what I believed was a twin room (the photos showed two beds), but on arrival was told only doubles were available. The receptionist promised to move us the next day, but after repeated follow-ups, we remained in the same small double room for four nights. My 16-year-old son had to sleep on the floor on a towel. The room was hot and stuffy—the air conditioning kept shutting off—and there was no mini fridge, which is unheard of for a supposed 4-star hotel. I checked out early after the hotel refused to acknowledge or address any of this. Despite Expedia confirming a partial refund, the hotel denied it. Eventually, Expedia refunded me directly. To add insult to injury, after my final complaint, the hotel suddenly “found” a twin room that supposedly didn’t exist earlier. I won’t return.

Had to move from our exec room on the first night due to water leak from room above. Moved into 2 std rooms on 5th floor. Had to again argue that 4 people booked meant 4 breakfasts. I'm not going to let my kids starve. Had this on both mornings. No notice about the building work so lifts out of order and dust everywhere. Staff were courteous on the main.

This hotel was by far the worst Holiday Inn I have ever stayed in. They were doing construction on the floor above mine and I had no control over the heat The heat was so intense I found it difficult to sleep. Also the water was shut off the second day I was there because of the work. It was horribly overpriced and I was so glad to check out.

The rooms were ok, two elevators were down at the same time for a few days which was a bit inconvenient. There should be different options for breakfast packages if you don’t offer free breakfast. We don’t all eat large portions so if there were cheaper packages for smaller options of food that would be better. Most staff were friendly enough.

Quiet and comfortable beds. Overall it was clean but found someone else’s sock under 1 bed. Only downside for us was the lack of outlets near the beds for CPAP machine and for charging phones/watches. We move beds around to it work though. Overall a decent property though and staff are great!

There was a moldy smell in the bathroom. Everything was dirty, scratched up, and old appearing overall. Carpets were dirty. The bathtub had black mold in the calking. The headboard and closet were scratched up. There was a cabinet with space for a mini-fridge but no actual fridge. No AC. The customer service was fine until I got a call in the middle of the night that there were noise complaints against me. When I informed the caller that I have been asleep this whole time so clearly this was someone else, they said “yeah well our staff can hear noise outside your room too”. Once I refuted the false claims more and also told them the noise is likely coming from the room next to me because I CAN HEAR IT TOO, they just said “ok ok ma’am” and cut the phone. And in regards to noise, there’s a bar/restaurant downstairs that has noise from the patrons there late into the night, which will disturb your sleep too.

I would have rated this location higher but the condition of the carpeting in our room was horrible. The bathroom was excellent, breakfast was very good and the staff was polite and helpful. The downer was the carpet condition. It was far beyond worn. It was abysmal. Very near restaurants and even a supermarket. Good location.

This was conveniently located within walking distance to the tube and some of the big sights. However, we will not stay here again due to the hotel turns off the air during some of the late night hours and we woke up in a sweat and contacted the front desk, they turned the air back on for us after 30 minutes and 2 phone calls. We later saw signs in the elevator indicating they do this, but would have been nice to know ahead of time. This is my only complaint, I paid for a room and I expect to have full access to the temperature control.

Wonderful stay and the staff was very accommodating when requesting a new room due to the sofa bed being unacceptable due to the springs being felt and with no support. I think the hotel needs to replace the bad ones ASAP as it is unacceptable for a 3rd person to have to sleep on very thin, unsupported spring mattress. Especially since we book for a weeks stay. But like I said, the staff was very accommodating meeting our request to switch rooms. Breakfast was good.

Breakfast was not up to par with comparable hotels in the area. Menu options at the restaurant for dinner were limited. Construction on a nearby room made our stay really noisy. We had been traveling a lot by train and needed adequate rest time when in our room and the construction/remodeling noise prevented this. Front desk staff never answered the phone when we called from the room. WiFi was probably the only good thing about the place.

I enjoyed staying at this hotel, great breakfast and lgood location, but not after wasting my time and sleep asking to change rooms because the inner outdoor space is full of noisy air conditioning units. Especially if the bed is near the window, it's noisy enough to stop me getting back to sleep. Even the outer rooms facing the road have nearby aircon units, but at least a bit quieter. There was no noise from the aircon inside the rooms. I don't know what you can do except to replace the machines with quieter ones or improve the window sound insulation.

The staff at this hotel make the difference! Morning and evening staff at reception are friendly and eager to help with questions. Chamber maids quickly respond to requests. Don’t miss the morning breakfast! Location is convenient with only a short walk to Russell Square Station. I have stayed here twice and will be back in October. It’s easy to be loyal to this property!

We LOVED the check in staff! Zalika did a wonderful job communicating when our room was ready as we needed to check in early! The entire staff was so kind and we would definitely stay again if we came to London! The location is maybe a three minute walk to the London Underground Piccadilly line which took us mostly everywhere we wanted!

We liked the location. Very close to the Underground and shopping areas. We stayed 3 nights under 2 separate reservations, but the staff was unable to keep us in the same rooms, which was a bit inconvenient. Fortunately, they were able to keep our luggage stored for the day while we visited the city.

I have mobility problems and use a mobility scooter, all the staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was lovely and all the staff were very helpful, I would especially like to mention Ida, who was so genuine and kind.

The cleaner entered our room at 8:45am when we had an agreed checkout at 1pm due to a late arrival of 11:30 pm the night before. This was a confirmed error but when i went yo see who was at the door nobody was available to reassure me that it was a staff member. We had a late night and due to tge uncertainty, my daughter and myself was unable to return to sleep. The noise of cleaning and door slamming was far too loud for 9am, especially on a weekend and standard 12pm checkouts. The receptionist was able to confirm the error with the clearner who entered the room but asked me to suggest a way to make my stay better .. at the time i was checking out ! The reality, we booked this hotel to sleep at, which we was unble to achieve in its entirety. So what was the point ultimately

upon arrival i was "greeted" with the most rudest customer service ive ever come across, giving me the side eye .. i had booked 3 rooms via hotels.com , and they were all under one reservation, i showed her the letter from hotels.com which clearly said that i indeed had 3 rooms for 2 nights (all under the same reservation), she kept yapping on about how she cant find,and i should have 3 different reservations for 3 rooms, like it was my fault and she doesnt have a room for me , she finally called someone smarter and they helped her out, and go wonder i indeed had paid for 3 rooms with BREAKFAST.. which also said in my reservation.. she then went 0n and charged us for breakfast aswell.. the whole hotel experience was a total joke , very unprofessional

Perfect base to explore London. Very helpful staff (thanks Luna for helping us with late check-out and Ahmed for helping with our taxi to Heathrow). Rooms were very nicely cleaned everyday. Supermarkets, cafés and underground very close by…very convenient. Would be nice to have a fridge in the room.

This accommodation is excellent, and it is my 2nd time at this hotel. I will stay here again. Also, location is great! There is a shopping mall across the street and Russell Square underground station one block away. Also, it is an easy walk to the British Museum in one direction and Kings Cross/St Pancras rail station in the other.

Excellent stay in a very convenient location near Russell Square. Very handy for British Museum, and Russell Square tube station is just a few minutes walk away. Shops for food (Tesco, Waitrose) and several cafes on Judd Street

A nice location in Bloomsbury near Russell Square tube station. A nice welcome at reception and the breakfast girls were also welcoming. Good breakfast lots of choice and up to 11 am a bonus. We hope to return sometime very good.

Decent hotel, a bit pricey I would say but by London standards I guess it’s on the lighter side. Its walking distance (within 30 minutes walk) from West End Theatres and from China Town. Kings Cross is about 15 minutes walk though would recommend taxi if travelling with luggage. Even though it said kids have free breakfast when having with adults at the time of booking, there’s a cut off of 13 years which was not made clear at the time of booking online. So we had to pay £16.50 per day for our 14 year old which I found was too costly and disappointing due to not being made aware. If I knew before, I would not have booked breakfast at all as there are many breakfast places near by which would be cheaper for breakfast. Overall, good hotel, we have stayed here before and likely to stay again.
