Tavistock Hotel draws consistent praise for its excellent Bloomsbury location and welcoming staff, while recurring drawbacks include very small, often warm rooms due to no air conditioning and noticeable street noise in some park- and road-facing rooms.

Staff were lovely but usually only one reception person available during the day so a bit of a wait to speak with someone. Room really small (Double Park view) - we’ve stayed here a number of times and this (116) was the smallest we’ve stayed. warn room, windows don’t open more than 2” so can’t get air into the room. no ac in rooms so they supply a fan (fairly noisy) but that just moves the air around. a few tea bags and sachets of instant coffee but just one tiny milk pot. A room at £180pn should at least have a coffee pod machine or coffee bags. No bottle of fresh water in the room - so need to drink from bathroom tap. No plugs beside bed or bedside lights. So there’s only the main light or a bank of bright spotlights above headboard. Would be helpful to have a small fridge in the room. So, all in all quite a disappointing stay. Wouldn’t come again - there’s far better hotels in the area for £180+ per night.

Stayed 1 night

A lovely hotel we had a family room which was also used as an accessible room so be careful if travelling with young children as there were pull cords in the room. We were on 7th floor and the room was like a sauna it was incredibly uncomfortable. However the staff did their best and provided us with additional fans. The room was spacious and clean. Staff were very helpful and we only stayed one night but were allowed to keep our bags in storage as we wondered through London the next day. Breakfast was a buffet had a good choice as you would expect. We ate at the bar before leaving to catch our train home and the staff were friendly and attentive and food was lovely, would definitely stay again maybe just not in a heat wave!

The hotel was missing AC, as probably most in London, and it was all too hot for us. Trouble sleeping!
