We thought the Tavistock gave very good value for money, given that it is a London hotel in walking distance from St Pancras, King’s Cross and Euston stations. From our experience and previous reviews, the rooms are quite small, but adequate. If you are staying in hot weather, be aware that there is no air on in the rooms, though a fan is provided. After reading about this, we requested and were given a first-floor room, rather than risking higher floors, which have been described as hotter still. The breakfast choices were excellent, with a wide range of fresh hot and cold foods available. I’d say that if you can’t find something you like there, it’s you that’s the problem, not the hotel! We were impressed by the willingness of the Hotel to store our luggage both before check-in and after check-out. This was systematically done, with a formal receipt for the bags matched to tags on the bags themselves. Staff were exceptionally accommodating and happy to accede to reasonable requests rather than ‘upsell’ everything; eg after eating out one night we just wanted two soft drinks in the bar to sit and chat - we had a soda water and a blackcurrant squash for £2.90 - in London! Note that there is a water chiller to fill your water bottles for free at the end of the bar, too.

Arguably the worst hotel I've stayed at. First day one of the two elevators was out of service. The floors of the hallways creaked on every step. The rooms were hot and the window only opened very little. When asked if the window could be opened more the desk said they would send someone to remove the safety lock but nobody ever showed up. The floors also creaked in the room above, so all night and morning you can hear people moving above. The worst part was having a room DIRECTLY above a bowling alley bar. Loud and obnoxious drunks all night till 2 in the morning every night and the security outside did not care at all, no attempts to try and calm or quiet the individuals.

For a central London hotel this is very good value, the staff are very friendly and accommodating and the rooms are a decent size (again, this is London....). Easy to get to by bus or Underground. Nice bar and restaurant in the hotel. Definitely recommend.

What a fantastic place. Staff were friendly and helpful. Beautiful building, lovely and quiet. Even left me a great take away breakfast as I left too early for the restaurant. Lovely evening meal with good prices. Have recommended to my fellow passengers. Will certainly stay here again. Thank you.

Clean and tidy. Check in very slow, lifts very slow and often full when finally arrive. Used stairs when coming down from rom each morning. Room small with comfortable king bed. Bathroom very small with poor shower flow. Convenient to tube and walking distance to many attractions.

We stayed at the Tavistock in 1998 and were delighted to find it even more comfortable. The staff is great, the facility is great, the restaurant and bar are wonderful. I have a gluten allergy and the chef came out to speak with me about it as I ordered dinner. Great service! Thank you for a wonderful stay.

2 night stay. The hotel is in a good location, the staff we encountered (reception, bar, breakfast service) were all friendly, helpful and attentive. The breakfast was excellent with a wide choice of options and drinks available. The bar was very relaxed with the whole hotel having a bit of an Art Deco feel to it. Only slight (and this is minor) downside was that the room had no air conditioning, although a desk fan was provided for use in the wardrobe.

This is the 4th or 5th time I've stayed here and won't stay anywhere else in London. It's perfectly located from Euston and walking distance to all the key tourist attractions. The rooms are cleaned regularly, the breakfast is spot on for setting up for the day. I'd say that my only gripe this time was the room was maybe a little small, as I banged my head on the wardrobe right next to my bed a couple of times, but this is just a niggle. I'm already looking at booking again for next November/December in the build up to my 40th.

Room was tiny and nothing like the photos advertised of a double park room. The room was unbearably hot and as facing the street too loud to keep the windows open. The bathroom had black mould all over the tiles and only 2 options for water temperate in the shower scalding hot or ice cold. The housekeeping office was outside the room so could hear people talking/laughing/smashing around early till late. Decor very dated and really needs money and time spent on this hotel to make it remotely worth the hefty room fee.

Very nice hotel, the staff were friendly and efficient , we were able to check in early and drop off our luggage. Room was clean and comfortable with a nice view from the window. The breakfast was delicious and hot. We were able to leave our luggage at the hotel and go out and enjoy our day then pick it up on the way to the train station. We have stayed here before and it has improved greatly since then

The location is spectacular. There's no doubt it is an old hotel. I believe they are renovating it, slowly. Housecleaning was spotty (clean towels, made bed, but no surfaces wiped down...)

The reason that I have marked down the hotel so much is that we were on Woburn Place (A4200) side of the hotel. There is no air conditioning so it was necessary to have the window open (the opening was restricted for safety reasons). We therefore did not have the best night's sleep because of the traffic noise and particularly the continual emergency service sirens. The hotel was clean but a little tired.

While the lobby and staff are nice, the walls of my room were super thin so I could hear everything in the room next to mine (snoring, talking, coughing). Additionally, my room was broadly clean, but I kept finding little stray trash items (tags, bobbypins) that had been left behind by the previous guest(s).

Room was small but functional. The double bed was a small double but it was absolutely fine for one person and one night. The room is a little dated with a 80's style carpet in the room and the bathroom was compact but again, very fine for one night & one person. The staff were lovely and the location is perfect and the room even came with a fan for warm nights so its a solid 3.5/5 in my book.

Most rooms are very small so pack a tiny suitcase. The rooms on the side are very loud. Courtyard rooms are quiet but again, most are small. The staff is wonderful and very accommodating.

The Tavistock provided us with a clean, comfortable room in a convenient part of the city. The staff was outstanding and does a great job. The only negative was that the hotel is located at a very busy intersection with a lot of road noise. Although the weather was good while we were in London we could not keep the window open at night due to the traffic noise.

Great location, easy check-in with friendly staff, clean room, clean lobby, very walkable area within distance of abundant transportation, plenty of dining options, supermarket nearby, quiet room facing the park, WiFi worked well, water pressure was great. Spent five glorious days at The Tavistock. Superb Staff, absolutely nothing was any trouble to them; excellent breakfast options, great food menu in both the bar area and the sublime Poppadom Restaurant. Comfortable and well appointed room. Great location. Truly impossible to fault.

Great hotel, our room was ready even though we arrived to the city pretty early. The front desk staff were helpful, the room was comfortable and even though there wasn’t air conditioning it was very nice in our room. Unfortunately, the end of my stay turned into an unpleasant experience. After checkout, I deposited my luggage at the hotel, but when I returned to pick it up, it was broken. The employee Ifti took my email address and assured me he would follow up. Three days later, I have received no response, and my emails remain unanswered. Mistakes can certainly happen, but the way this situation was handled is simply unacceptable.

Great location, 2 blocks from underground that takes a person to Heathrow directly and about 20 minute walk to the train station. Staff was very helpful with the exception of Dominic, who did not seem to want to help too much. Otherwise staff were all great.

Wonderful experience!! Localization excellent, breakfast fantastic, people at the hotel so friendly!! But at the ckeck-in it was not a good experience: we arrived in August 11, and the girl was non simpatic, she was so rude, did not wait even for filling the reception questions. We were waiting almost 30 minutes for the check-in, and when I asked again if it was ok, she was so rude saying that we should wait without any questions, but for other customers, many of them, as they arrived the check-in was perfect.....we have noticed it.....in my opinion, her behavior must be reviewed. For the whole week we have been at Tavistok hotel we did not have any inconvinience at all, but of course we have avoided to ask her anything....... During that week, from August 11 to August 18, some days we have noticed the same problem with other customers, with the same girl....people were talking out loud at the reception.... It's a real shame, because the Hotel itself, and the others employees were fantastic!!

Rooms very comfy, have everything you need. Great location too - close to transport links and within easy walking distance of the British Museum, Holborn, Oxford Street, Covent Garden etc. Its a bit of a find this hotel would highly recommend.

First stop in the UK after flying into LGW. The Tavistock is an inexpensive black cab ride away from a major rail terminal with service to and from LGW. Early check-in was available. Great staff and right in Bloomsbury - history, dining, everything. You are in a downtown hotel - so city noise will be there, but that is the price of being so central. A true 5 star for value and location.

Loved my stay at Tavistock, the location was awesome with lots within walking distance, including many bus stops, underground and train stations. The hotel was very clean, good water pressure in the shower and lovely hand, body and hair wash products provided. Bonus points for the pub and restaurant in the building meaning those really cold nights I didn't have to go outside after dinner.

This hotel was just a few blocks from Euston train station. The room was nice and the bed was comfortable. We had breakfast down the road at the Noxy which had good coffee/espresso and breakfast bagels as well as pastries. The next morning we took the train to Heathrow, which took us about 50 minutes, but dropped us off right in our terminal. This was the new Elizabeth Line…lovely, air conditioned train:)

The property is in a very desirable location. The food was awful, I’ve had stomach cramp since which I believe was due to the chicken and mushroom pie. The pastry was hard and in hind side although it had been cooked likely it was frozen and had been frozen for too long. This causing (when it was cooked it was chewy and stale). I left most of it. The vegetables were stone cold. The portion of vegan cottage pie was so tiny my friend had to order another meal!. On the up side, the cottage pie was half refunded and a complimentary drink was offered by the staff, they were very good; I felt sorry for them as it wasn’t their fault.

For a central London hotel this is very good value, the staff are very friendly and accommodating and the rooms are a decent size (again, this is London....). Easy to get to by bus or Underground. Nice bar and restaurant in the hotel. Definitely recommend.
