Thistle London Hyde Park Kensington Gardens

The location for Hyde Park is excellent and it is good value with handy parking (that you pay for separately). But it took us ages to check in (nobody on the desk) and we were pretty slow checking out.

Good location. Misleading external photo of property, actually situated above a vehicle fueling station. Small lift service and lobby area.

Loved our stay here! If you're looking for a quiet and safe place to stay out of the hustle and bustle of London with a parking garage look no more. I was leery at first as I was reading no elevator (lift) with 9 floors, but it does have 3. We arrived early, and they allowed us to bring our luggage in and kept it for us until we could check in. It is directly across the street from Kensington Gardens and a hop and skip from Kensington Palace. The bus lines stop right there, your minutes from Queensway, and a 15 min walk to Paddington Station. The hotel is clean, with a clean room, and was quiet at night. All staff were friendly and informative. The restaurant wasn’t too bad either with just as nice staff.

Pros: excellent location, room size good considering price. Rooms clean and well maintained. On site bar open late, with attentive staff. Front office staff very pleasant, even considering the high volume of check ins and check outs that happen each day. Near a metro station and across from Kensington Garden (we enjoyed the view of the Garden from our room on an upper floor). Suggestions: The Bar/Restaurant bathrooms get a pretty high volume and need to be cleaned more frequently throughout the day. Note: If you have any physical challenges, the elevators get backed up with the many travelers with lots of luggage. We used the stairs most to the time, which was fine, but if you have physical mobility issues and are using this hotel as a base, you may be a bit frustrated.

A little far out if you’re primarily doing stuff in the primary tourist areas, but if you’re familiar with London and know the tube it’s pretty convenient. Tiny elevators though (like 2x4 feet), and one of them was out so we spent a lot of time waiting for them. I felt bad for what appeared to be an entire marching band checking in with huge instrument cases!

Unfortunately our car was broken into and 2 suitcases stolen whilst parked in the car park underneath the hotel despite the facility being secured between the hours of 10 pm to 6 am. This ruined what was otherwise a pleasant two days walking around London with my wife who was returning from visiting her family in China

Good place for short visits. Decent location near bayswater and queensway station. Only negative thing is that they have carpets and it was very dirty plus the ventilation system made me sneeze constantly because of dust in the air. Seems they need to do a proper cleaning in ventilation system and on the carpet. Other than that it was good.

Check in was wonderful, friendly, engaging staff. Very easy. The location for us was great bordering Hyde Park. When we got up to the room, someone had cut their toe nails and left the remains all over the floor, so clearly the clean routine was not great. It was sorted while we were out. Disappointingly I had emailed the hotel before regarding our stay and they chose to ignore the email.

The bedroom was fine, although a lot smaller than the images on hotels.com would indicate. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. Reception was helpful. But the corridor outside of our room smelt terribly of mold - not what you expect at this price of hotel.

Pictures seemingly leave out the hotel is above a Shell station and the garden view includes a lovely view of the gas station. Room wasn’t clean, shower faucet dripped, carpet was stained, drapes were covered in dust and stains. This was a poor choice of a place to stay.

Location - Great, can’t fault location. Hotel Room - some furniture Outdated made the room appear dark. Bathroom - Shower over Bathroom. Hopping into the bath you must be careful if you have knee instability. No place for hand towels or hooks for towels. Toilet pressure not great. Air conditioning didn’t seem to work properly. Told reception. Room phone not working, light in entry area of room not working Served tea and two cups were dirty, told staff member. Next day at breakfast found another dirty cup, told the Chef this was the 2nd time. Breakfast good selection. This would not be my first choice next time even IF location is great.

Room was very clean although a bit on the small side. Hotel is in an excellent location and conveniently placed for underground. My only criticism is that one of the three lifts was out of order for our entire stay. All members of staff were very polite and helpful.

Hotel location good, and little Waitrose underneath very useful. Hotel room fine but very small, nowhere to put anything and difficult to get around the bed.

Upgraded to a room that smelt of cigarettes… more so the bathroom. Air conditioning set and not adjustable so it was either cold where you wrapped up to then too hot that you chuck the covers off. A sleepless night. The air conditioning was locked out to central control and unchangeable in the room.

The morning was a bit noisy inside and outside the hotel.

The location was good, just a short walk from 2 tube stations and very close to Paddington Station. The AC was not working and it was very hot! The accommodations were basic but it matched the price point. I would stay there again in winter so the lack of AC would not be an issue

We stayed for 2 nights in a deluxe twin. The room was clean, beds comfortable, lovely view out to Hyde park with the royal Albert hall and the London eye in eyesight. The hotel must have heating issues as the room had 2 plug in radiators when we arrived. With these on the room was comfortable, without it was cold. Good location

Excellent hotel room with lots of space. Very comfortable beds and good bathroom. Controllable airconditioning was a good bonus. Wonderful view over Hyde park. No noise at night, despite being on a busy street. Wonderful location, close to tube stations and many restaurants and supermarkets. Would stay again and will highly recommend.

We had a terrific stay at this hotel. The staff is very friendly, professional and accommodating. We arrived very late and had we're greeted with a smile and a fast check in. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. The complimentary water and coffee hit the spot - night and morning. The breakfast here is super!!! The staff managing the breakfast service was fantastic too! Everything about the service we received was commendable. We wish that we were staying more than one night. We will definitely stay here again.

I’ve been staying at this thistle for many years. The location is great and transportation easily accessible. This year I found service to be less then par. Check was slow , however while waiting to get rooms I was sitting in lobby . I was in full site of staff yet had to remind staff after to hours that I was waiting and then found out my room was ready The safe in my room was broke and could not be fixed until Monday I arrived on Saturday. My room was changed and had to repack after traveling all day Wake up calls were non existent. I stayed for 9 days and did not get wake up calls for 5 days and days that I did get they were late I did get to the manager who was kind and offered free breakfast . This was appreciated My main concern is that I travel to London yearly , except during Covid. I will definitely have second thoughts about booking Thistle again

So I asked for a late checkout which all was confirmed. Day of checkout I call reception for final arrangements when a rude clueless person (African accent) picks up the phone and tells me that for late checkout I will be charged 20 pounds per hour. I explained to him that this has all been previously agreed and confirmed late checkout at no extra fees especially that I am an elite status member and normally don’t have issues with this. He refused to understand and kept talking over me and being rude as if he owns the place. I asked for his name several times he refused to give his name and insisted he was the DUTY MANAGER. He then hung up on me. I tried calling reception again (by calling number 0) but no one answered. Later I got another call from a different person saying that I need to check out, when I told them their previous colleague confirmed late checkout now but with a fees this person said they cannot even give late checkout with a fees because the hotel is over booked. Now it seems that the staff are not even communicating between each other. I went down to reception to see what the issue is. The man who spoke to me on the phone claiming he was the duty manager was no where to be found. The staff at reception also said they were not sure who he was and were not able to give me more details. So many problems I do not know where to start. Useless hotel. Silly person claiming to be a manager should not be given a phone - he should work in the zoo as a cleaner.

We had an excellent stay at Thistle hotel. Our room was ready early and Rahul was kind enough to let us check in early. The room was spacious and clean. We really appreciated the air conditioning as many of the places we stayed before did not have it. We had dinner in the bar and the service was very good. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

This hotel gave my pre paid room away to another guest when I checked in late, despite me letting them know about my late check in and they did this without making any attempt to contact me. They explained that the hotel was 'overbooked'. But I had already purchased my room and fully paid it. Avoid this hotel. The same thing happened to another guest and we were both left waiting in reception.

The Thistle Hyde Park Kensington Gardens hotel in London is in a great location. The room was very nice with a great view of Hyde Park. The breakfast was great. The staff was very well dresses and courteous but they could use some additional training to better meet guests' needs. I needed information about taxis in the area, the staff responded quickly but said they were referring me to others. I never received any additional response from the hotel so I had to reach out and find the information myself. This caused me some anxiety and when I got to the hotel, there was an Uber machine in the lobby! That would have been nice to know. Second, we asked for a wake-up call and it came 47 minutes late - not helpful. Third, we said we would be leaving early the next morning and staff assured me we could gets some breakfast items to go since we had paid for breakfast. There was nothing for us when we left early the next day to go on a tour. The positives did outweigh the negatives so we might stay there again.

Location is very good, it is very close the tube (queensway and Bayswater) and Paddington station is 10 min walk. A quiet stay. I like that its right next to Kensington park.

This was my third - and certainly not last - stay at the Thistle London Hyde Park Kensington Gardens Hotel. The staff is extremely polite and helpful. Its location is very close to the Queensway tube station and within approx. 15 minute walk away from Paddington train station. Entrance to beautiful Kensington Gardens park exactly opposite to the hotel.

Great location, easy access to buses, underground stations and of course Kensington gardens across the road. Every staff member we encountered were always polite and very helpful. Breakfast buffet very generous. 10 minute walk to a shopping area for Tesco express, many restsurants would stay again

Hotel clean and quite well situated, rooms clean but quite small for the price and only one chair to sit on, mini fridge a good idea, option to not have your room cleaned / towels changed daily a good idea especially with a £7 bar voucher but didnt realise it meant that they would not replenish the tea / coffee provisions. Bar area clean but service quite slow aspecially as it comes with a service charge. Only 2 very small lifts not adequate for a hotel that size. Breakfast was the main issue for us, buffet style which is fine platescwarm but food also only luke warm so gone cold by the time you had taken it to the table and only 2 very slow coffee machines serving half pot portions at a time, many people needing to do two requests at a time leading to queues and a long wait for coffees. Toaster doesnt toast the bread in one cycle and there is a sign asking people not to use it twice. Limited continental choices too. Was booked as a surprise trip for my wifes 50th birthday and didnt want to go premier inn / travelodge route as it was a treat however both of us felt we would have had a better experience in a premier inn for a more reasonable price

Buffet breakfast poor quality. Very large portions (too large) in evening restaurant and very cold - staff very helpful to turn off aircon and great on reception re: keeping bags, getting a black cab, maps, etc

The service and location were outstanding at thisle. It is directly across the street from Hyde Park and just a few blocks away from the underground and a variety of restaurants. The only aspect of this place which could use some improvement is some refinement of the breakfast service. The coffee / espresso maker was broken and the breakfast fell short compared to other offerings in the neighbourhood.

A nice place to stay due to proximity. Rooms were nice and clean. Plenty of room with comfortable bed. Would love to see better breakfast options and coffee was subpar. Coffee machines were old and malfunctioning and just put out rubbish.

Great stay. Property and staff were excellent. The breakfast was well worth the extra cost. Centrally located and next to the park which was very nice. Only issue was the AC didn’t work the first night but they gave us a new room the 2nd night
