Thistle Trafalgar - Leicester Square

A nice centrally located hotel. Staff was very helpful, more so than any other hotel we have stayed. Dining at the hotel is pretty much nonexistent, but the food was good when we tried it. Bathroom was small and toilet area even smaller Location was excellent. We would stay here again.

The location on a quiet street just behind Leister Square is great. 10 minutes to Covent Garden, West End Shows and Piccadilly Circus without the outside noise. Breakfast was also great ( made omelettes to order plus full English breakfast buffet). Room size with king bed was great. Better value for the $$$ than some of the larger nearby properties. Premium linens and towels. You can use the gym at the Piccadilly property 100 yards up the street. Only negative was that the bathroom had very dim lighting.

Great location and rooms are clean, but the hotel is hard to find as there is another Thistle hotel one block away. We were dropped at the wrong hotel with a large amount of luggage in the rain. There are stairs inside and out and on floors with rooms that make moving luggage difficult. There is no place to put luggage in the rooms, no racks provided (and very little space to put a rack even if you had one). There are no refrigerators in the rooms for medications or food. The list of amenities say there are laundry facilities, but in reality it is a laundry service. They say they would like you to reuse your towels, but provide no good place to hang it for drying.

Good breakfast( £15 book in advance on the day it rises to £18.50) rooms good size clean and beds comfortable. Toilet not flushing properly. Public areas very very hot. Good location off trafalgar square for china town etc.

We booked 4 nights in the end of May for $1,803.54. Our experience was horrendous; it looks like the hotel is going downhill. The price for the room has not matched any of our expectations. It was “Ride London” weekend and the prices were steep everywhere. Upon arrival, we were told that there was no hot water in the hotel and we might be checked in in another property. Finally, we checked in in our hotel and it was a huge mistake. The hot water was "fixed" and we got it in an hour. However, there was no hot water next morning. We were offered to take a shower on another property, a block away from the hotel! When we asked if we can be moved to another property, the answer was "yes" but that property was located much further from the current location and it was not suitable for us. Many guests ahead of us managed to move to different properties; we were a little late. Eventually, after 2 hours, we got hot water. Next day, we woke up early to rush out to a shower as, if we understood correctly, the boiler could not handle all guests showering at the same time (!?). However, there was a fire alarm in the morning and we had to get out of the hotel. Last day, there was a fire alarm again in the morning and we had to eat breakfast in another location. In addition: one elevator did not work, breakfast was with very basic food, not much choice, juice dispensers did not work well, and windows frames need touch up.

This property had no refrigerator in units. And no ice machine for guests. I had medication that needed refrigeration.

Hotel and facilities are very mediocre. Great location which is walking to everything. The hotel could use an upgrade in facilities, decor, food options in breakfast.

Liked the room. Good wifi. Good breakfast. Restrooms on ground floor out of order for most of our stay and the option was to use the bathrooms at the Thistle hotel 3 minutes away (or go up to room). Necessary to navigate steps to on way to elevator. We arrived early in the morning and they had a hard time figuring out what rooms had been cleaned; we finally were able to get into our room mid/late afternoon.

No air but advertised they had it. Mold in bathroom tile. Dingy carpet. No real in room amenities.

The room and bathroom had mould on the window ledges. The bathroom taps looked like they hadn't been cleaned in months.

Check in was quick and the desk agent was wonderful. The room was bigger than expected and comfortable. The room was clean and did not smell. This location is down a quiet street behind the National Gallery. Very quick walk to Picadilly Circus Underground. Took us 1hr on the underground from Heathrow. I will stay here again the next time we visit London Center.

This hotel is DATED. The room needs to be updated desperately. Although the bed and pillows are comfortable, the CARPET is stained and disgusting. We we had a HUGE wet area of the carpet upon arriving and my daughter stepped in it as soon as we started to unpack.

The room was clean, the front desk staff were very helpful and friendly, and there was a benefit for skipping room cleanings (for the environment) that could be applied at the restaurant in the lobby. The elevators were quick, and the noise level from the street outside wasn't too loud- it is right in SoHo, so there is a lot of activity all around the hotel, but I had no trouble sleeping or relaxing once in my room. I would definitely stay here again in a future London visit, especially if I was looking to see theatre shows or try the SoHo restaurants and shops again.

The sink in the bathroom was blocked, the corridors smelled very musty. But hotel have a great location, so close to everything. Friendly staff.

This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had. The room was visibly dirty, with mold, mildew, and limescale — completely unacceptable for any guest. I ended up cleaning it myself just to feel comfortable. Even worse, when I raised the issue, the manager was rude and dismissive, offering no real support or accountability. I had two rooms booked for a 10-day stay and expected at least basic cleanliness and respectful service. Deeply disappointing.

Great hotel - close to everything, and hit my top three: good air conditioning, excellent water pressure, and very clean.

Right in the middle of all the action the staff are great and the rooms quite small.

Lovely reception staff, comfy bed but unfortunately seemed to have been above a night club on the Friday night. Very loud music until 2am but next night was much better. No toiletries in bath room, had run out of shower gel and wasn’t replenished. Facilities in room slightly jaded but clean and comfortable. Shower over bath, ok for me but 6ft husband’s head hit ceiling!! But fabulous location which is what we wanted, next door to national gallery.

Large room by London standards with a huge and very comfortable bed. Bathroom very small but the shower was excellent. Great location.

Unbeatable location. Rooms are so-so… a little on the small side.

The room was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The showers require some maneuvering to prevent water from going all over the floor. I would stay here again.

Room was ok but felt a bit dated with a few issues TV wonky on wall and shower gel and hand wash had fallen off walls in bathroom also quite noisy through the night but good friendly staff and location of hotel was perfect for Leicester Square and Theatre

The room is average, great location! Booked this hotel because it had air conditioning, but the air conditioning was not working.

We stayed in a deluxe king room and were glad of the extra space compared to the double rooms. Our key card opened a room that was not allocated to us ( we got the wrong number) and only realised once we were in and commented how small the room and bed were. We then went to the correct room which the key card also opened- I did inform reception of this anomaly. The room was well decorated and the carpet appeared relatively new with no stains. The bathroom was very small, no space for all the towels to hang and very little space for toothbrushes etc. The towels were big and of good quality. The bed was a link bed, so two single mattresses zipped together, unfortunately my side of the bed was very uncomfortable due to the mattress having a huge dip/hole in the middle right where my hips were, so I didn’t sleep well. I would expect better of a 4* hotel. Housekeeping was efficient when they eventually got round to cleaning our room. We were out by 9am every morning and tended to come back about 3.30pm for a little rest and change of clothes - housekeeping still hadn’t been, it was after 4pm before they cleaned our room, again not 4*. The A/C was very efficient. The hotel was very convenient for walking everywhere and for the underground. We didn’t eat in the restaurant or the breakfast buffet.There is an outside area for drinks and food, but it didn’t look very appealing and we never saw anybody using it. The bed let this hotel down!

This was motel hell. The a/c didn't work. Got hotter and hotter. Rooms in poor condition. Had to move room in middle of night due to the air con problem.

The staffing at this hotel is very poor. Front desk, staff routinely ignore Guests for extended periods of time. Our 3 PM checkout was delayed by over an hour because the room wasn’t clean, And ultimately, I had to sit in the lobby until someone was pulled from some other activity to give us access. The building is generally old and unsightly. The view was over a waterlogged roof. The only recommending feature of this hotel is it’s location.

Excellent location. Large room. Staff was amazing. Our bags were delivered a day late from the airline and the staff helped track the bags.

Stayed here for 4 nights, and honestly, the only thing this hotel has going for it is the location. Everything else was a letdown. Check-in set the tone. After a long flight, the receptionist (Khadijeh) told us there was no room. We waited nearly 45 minutes before she suddenly announced that the room was “ready.” Apparently, rooms appear out of thin air here, but only after you’ve been worn down by exhaustion. That night, I called to ask for water because my mother is diabetic. In most hotels, they’d bring it up and add it to your bill. Here? I was told to come downstairs and buy it myself—as if I were running errands instead of paying to be a guest. On the last day, at 3:30 am, I asked the gentleman at the desk to help us get a taxi to the airport. His response? “It’s very hard to find a taxi at this time.” And that was it—no help, no effort, no solution. Exactly what you want to hear when you’re trying to catch a flight. And if you do manage to sleep through the stress, good luck with the windows. They are nowhere near soundproof, and the street noise at night makes it feel like you’re sleeping on the sidewalk. So yes, the hotel is in a convenient location. But with unhelpful staff, poor service, and sleepless nights from traffic noise, location is the only thing you’re paying for.

If you’re a total clean freak and can’t stay anywhere that’s not 100% spotless, this might not be the place for you. But if you want the best location in the city and an incredibly friendly and helpful staff, this hotel is perfect. The people working here make the experience truly great — and the spot couldn’t be better.

This hotel was fantastic! Fantastic location Fantastic price Fantastic staff who go above and beyond. I would like to give special thanks to Katia and her team who helped to make my wife's birthday extra special. Every email was responded to promptly with a friendly and professional manner. I cannot praise this hotel highly enough and the amazing staff.

1) There was NO AC in the room in the middle of summer. It got HOT. Told reception who moved us to another room but seemed like they were doing us a massive favor. No one told us about the lack of AC beforehand. 2) Someone called me from reception in the middle of the day and when I called back, ai got some sort of call center. I rushed back to the hotel in a panic and they had no clue why they called (?!) 3) No running water. As in none on the last day. No shower, no hand washing, no toilet visits, nothing to drink. Nothing. We were told we could go to another hotel. Like, what? 4) Fire alarm at random times. 5) Key card didn't work and when we asked to fix it, it took AGES to do so. Because they didn't know how to! Not once did staff apologize and there was a constant line at reception. Guess we weren't the only ones with a constant stream of problems...

I checked in at 10am and no rooms were ready which was understandable.. but I was told I would be contacted when a room was ready and I never was. When we returned to the hotel at 9:30pm I got put in a room with no AC. When I called the front desk to be moved there were no other rooms left, but I was told I could be relocated the next day and get a 70% refund for that night so I agreed to not check out and find a different hotel. Now, I’ve had hotels.com contact the hotel about that refund and I’m being told that won’t be honored. So basically the manage lied and manipulated me so I wouldn’t leave the hotel and check out that night. Not to mention the next day I was moved to ANOTHER ROOM WITHOUT AC. And THREE HOURS LATER I finally got into a room with AC, making me late to my evening plans. Literally this was the worst stay I’ve ever had in a hotel.

The staff at this hotel are outstanding and can't do enough for you. Such a refreshing change.

Right in the middle of everything you want to see.

The location is excellent, right in the center of London, making it very easy to get around. It’s within walking distance to several tube stations, which makes it super convenient. Considering how central it is, the price was excellent and offered great value for money. A perfect choice if you’re looking for an affordable stay in a central location.

Location amazing for Chinatown and visiting theatres. The room was clean and quiet for such a central location.

Fabulous hotel just off Leicester Square but incredibly quiet considering its location. Lovely room and bathroom. Excellent value for money considering the location. Everything is in walking distance and open late! Would definitely book again.

The best hotel to access Londons main tourist attractions. We got the London City pass and there is a bus stop a block south of the hotel. Where we were able to make the most of our pass.

This hotel was perfect! It’s in walking distance to everything you’ll need, including great restaurants, attractions, and transportation. The area is also fantastic for shopping, with so many amazing stores just steps away. Couldn’t have asked for a better location!

Position for central London was perfect. Straight into the nightlife and theatres within 200 yds. 1/4 mile from St James and a 3/4 mile from Westminster.

This hotel was in the perfect spot. It was well taken care of and the staff was wonderful. The only issue that I had was that the AC didnt cool the whole room on a hot day. The staff gave us fans to help, but it was still warm. Overall, this place is nice. The breakfast was wrll worth the investment as well.

Refused a pre theatre meal, as a party of a dozen or so people had booked a meal in the restaurant. These were not residents like my wife an I. We were sat down in the restaurant and were given a menu only for the waiter to come back and tell us we had to leave, because a big table was booked! He was pleasant and asked us to come back in an hour and a half. We had to leave because it was my wife's birthday treat to see a westend show. We left annoyed and had a nice curry instead. Luckily we made the show! Then at breakfast we were told nohot food was available because of 'kitchen problems'. We had to leave early that morning so this was not good news! Luckliy they sorted out the kitchen problem and we were able to finally get a hot breakfast! Staff were nice and apologetic but it really affected the celebration.

Very good room and close to a lot of main attractions so easily walkable. Very poor breakfast options for vegans or someone with a dairy allergy. Staff tried to accommodate but very very limited options.

All about location, otherwise this offered no more than a Travel Lodge but at twice the price. It was clean and comfortable, albeit not spacioys. Breakfast at 8.45am was at its lowest and luke warm but I think would have been very good had it have been hot. Staff available to assist but not hovvering.

This hotel was very clean comfortable and in a great location in the heart of many local sites and attractions. The breakfast was excellent offering a wide variety. The downside…charging devices in the suite. Though options were available at bedside and desk to charge devices such as phones, tablets and hearing aids, we found that only one device could be plugged in at a time. If more than one usb or phone/tablet was plugged in, the power became inactive. Hotel staff were not helpful in addressing this issue. Daily service to the room was inconsistent in terms of all things being replenished.
