The Rockwell

Literally that one in a million central London hotel that has a restaurant bar on site with GOOD food, beautiful rooms, stocked mini bars, and is close to public trans while also having affordable rates. If it’s available and you’re considering, BOOK IT!

Property was beautiful from the street, and the lobby was inviting. Room was spacious and had everything we needed. Breakfast in the restaurant was great. Staff were very friendly, especially Donna in the bar. Only negative was that they did not have much wine in stock while we were there - we consumed the one bottle of red wine they had and their stock was not replenished over the next day so unfortunately we weren't able to stay in the bar the following evening.

The staff we very helpful and friendly. The room was lovely and quite. The garden area was a lovely feature and option to use. The value of the room compared to others was really good.

Excellent hotel in a good location (very quiet at night which was a plus), only a 5 minute walk to Earl’s Court tube station with plenty of cafes and restaurants around! Not far from the V&A too! We booked the garden room which is located at the back of the hotel and pleasantly surprised by how spacious it was as well as having our own private patio area. Super service from friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely book to stay here again next time we’re in London! :)

We had a great stay at the Rockwell! Lovely property, very clean and comfortable, excellent location right near Earl's Court Road restaurants and tube stop, and also a short walk to Kensington High Street. The back garden is a nice place to sit for a little fresh air.

An excellent overnight stay. The Rockwell is very conveniently located just 5-10 minutes walk from Earl's Court tube station. There are a couple of small supermarkets, various restaurants and a couple of pubs on the route from the station. The lobby area is very welcoming with a fireplace, sofas and a library area. The public areas looked very clean and well-maintained, as was our spacious and comfortable room. The room layout was brilliant with a seating area, (with a TV, a table with a kettle and bottled water and a coffee table) and shower room downstairs and a mezzanine bed area with a lovely comfy bed, reached by spiral stairs. There are lots of places to put your things and sufficient hanging space. There's a safe and a mini-bar (which we didn't use). The bathroom was nice and clean and the water pressure was good (we were on the 1st floor). We wished we were staying for longer!

What a find! Great little place with everything I needed. Beautiful double room - clean and modern, handy little bar with champagne by the glass, friendly and helpful staff, fabulous location away from the bustle yet close to shops, tube etc, cute little courtyard garden for quiet downtime and such a great price. Will be back!

This is a nice hotel that has, in my opinion, a few things to work on to make it better. The location and cleanliness were very good. The staff was helpful. The room itself is a mix. We were in a lower level room in the basement. On the upside it was quiet because no one else was down there. And it was quite large. Otherwise it was disappointing. The shower door didn’t close. The towels were thin and frayed. The view was of a basement stairwell. There was no lighting for applying makeup so you are doing it in a shadow. When I ran out of toilet paper there was no spare roll in the room. But a real issue for me is the restaurant. I only choose hotels with restaurants so I can get food when needed. The kitchen is closed for dinner on Sunday and Monday- two of the days I stayed there. Breakfast doesn’t start until 7:30am. That is a bit late if I need to be at the office by 8:00. All in all I think there are a few things that can make this little boutique hotel a little bit more elevated. And quite possibly the rooms upstairs were lovely based on other reviews but I didn’t get to see those.

Only stayed one night. Room was nice, all amenities including mini bar. Very close to tube stations. Only staff met was at check in and that was very good. Would book again.

The property was fine, but the entrance is challenging if you have luggage to carry up the stairs.

This is not a 4 star property. Staff were great but the W/C was dirty and mouldy.

Having read previous reviews we were hopeful of a comfortable stay in The Rockwell and we were not disappointed. Our deluxe double room was at lower ground level so there wasn't much of a view but in January we didn't spend much time in the room in daylight hours. Our room was very spacious and beautifully clean. Despite its location on a main road we were not disturbed by traffic noise. With its convenient location and warm welcome we would be very happy to return.

Not sure if there is something positive about this hotel. - They "paid themselves" 2 days before check-in, even though during booking, it was saying "pay at check-in". - Rude staff. - Bad daily "cleaning", ommiting to replace consumables(toilet paper, shampoo, etc). - Clogged sink. - Too expensive for the quality it offers. Definitely it doesn't deserve the 4****.

The room looked NOTHING like any of the photos, it was very 90s. It smelled strongly of cigarettes, I don’t know if someone had been smoking or if the previous guest was smelly but it was unpleasant. The tv was the smallest tv I’ve seen in living memory.

Room was good, small (as expected) but comfortable. I was surprised by how worn out and frayed the towels were. The staff were lovely. My room was right next to the elevator, so got a bit of noise/vibration from that but it wasn't terrible. Otherwise, the AC unit provides excellent background white noise.

Overall, it was a great experience to stay at The Rockwell. The hotel and rooms were clean, we had everything we needed, and the staff were so nice and polite. I will recommend to others and I will consider staying at The Rockwell next time I visit London.

Very lovely hotel with great service. The bed was a little tight but the AC was awesome and the breakfast was yummy. Close to the Underground.

I understand the eco part of not using AC but when you show that as an amenity for the room, it should be in the room with the ability to use. I also didn’t have cold water. They did say they fixed it, and it went from hot to hotter to almost burning my skin off. I stayed in the duplex, which is a lovely spot except they showed the bed on the lower level and it was on the top level. The staircase is incredibly narrow, and I almost fell a few times. Also, when I booked the room in February, they stated they had smart TV capability when I got there in May, apparently that was disabled in April without knowing. I appreciate that the hotel allows cancellations, but I wish as an international traveler that I would’ve been charged at the time I booked the room with the option to have it refund refunded by a certain date as opposed to being charged on the date it could be canceled. This caused my trip to go up about $100 due to financial fluctuations within the countries. Sadly, I cannot remember the one incredibly wonderful woman who is just lovely and accommodating, but I thank her so much for at least listening and attending to the needs that I had asked her about. It is a very walkable safe area very close to Earls Court station. The only other issue I had was one night I got back at about 11 PM and the door was locked. Myself and two other travelers were trying to get in and had to bang on the door for about five minutes.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week in a deluxe room which was very big by London standards. The location is great and an easy tube ride from Heathrow. The room was quiet with plenty of natural light. The bed was large and comfortable. The shower pressure and hot water was terrific. The breakfast had ample choices and excellent value. The dining room was very cozy with great service every morning. One night was too cold to go out so we had the dining room to ourselves for a lovely dinner. Any small housekeeping request such as extra soap. tea bags etc. was handled promptly. All staff were courteous. We felt at home and will be our choice for our next visit.

Very small room. The bathroom had recently had a revamp and well equipped but very tight on space. I am only 5’11” and the bed was a real struggle, very narrow and more suitable for children. No coffee and tea making facilities was a problem. Good price but way too tight on space and not a place to relax, simply a ‘crash pad’ in my view. I would not revisit.

We loved our stay at the rockwell. The hotel is located a short walk from the local tube station (Earls Court). Although it is on a main road it was quiet inside. The reception area is very boutique and beautiful. The staff were lovely and helpful and our deluxe double room had a mezzanine floor with the bed upstairs, which we loved!

I booked a single bed room for 2 nights. The room was quite small, however it was functional and comfortable. Almost like a cruise boat cabin. Although the hotel is on a busy street, my room faced the back so I did not hear much street noise. The location of the hotel is great - close to the tube, shops and restaurants.

Overall not a bad hotel in good location. Rooms are ok, small-ish but that’s a London standard in older hotels. Being summer months room had a fan and some cooling unit provided as I assumed air con wasn’t a luxury at this property. This made the room hot and stuffy during the night which contributed to disturbed sleep. Bed was rather small and uncomfortable to sleep but despite room facing the main road it was still quite inside. In the morning I’ve asked for additional key card as let the one given on arrival in the room but wasn’t given one as hotel was in the process of upgrading their key system and they haven’t had enough of room keys to give out (?!) so a staff member had to come up twice with me to let me into my room. To sum it up, not a bad hotel, good location and at decent price. Few annoying issues (like no extra key, no air con) but would come back maybe in winter months

Room was good, small (as expected) but comfortable. I was surprised by how worn out and frayed the towels were. The staff were lovely. My room was right next to the elevator, so got a bit of noise/vibration from that but it wasn't terrible. Otherwise, the AC unit provides excellent background white noise.

Very pleasant staff to speak to! Was willing to just drop my bags off because I got in early, but they had my room ready and so I was able to check in! Had a free upgrade to a double room as well!

Staff was professional and very friendly. We were helped with directions, transportation, advice in general. Definitely would recommend to others.

Honestly what a find in London. Lovely staff, hotel, room with all the amenities you need (including cotton pads & buds!) and a reasonably priced minibar! Just excellent! We also paid for breakfast which was similarly great - reasonable price for all you could eat buffet with a wide selection and attentive service. Close to 2 tubes, museums and a variety of places to eat. Will definitely be back.

The check in was quick and easy, someone at the desk 24/7, location isnt too far from the hop on hop off route to get you sround, amazing restaurants in walking distance. The room was nice, very clean and they will keep your luggage for the day after check out if needed!

Very good stay, staff very polite and helpful, slight issue during check-in as the cleaners had missed the room 🙈, but the staff were very quick to sort it out and a free complimentary breakfast for the trouble. Very nice hotel, great location would definitely stay here again 👍

Position was excellent - within walking distance of many eateries and transportation. The staff were friendly and helpful, able to assist with the many questions of new travellers. Despite being on a main road, you could not hear the traffic at all. Bed was comfortable. Room quite small however, and some fixtures need fixing. Otherwise an excellent stay.

Lovely stay, I stayed for 2 nights. And loved my stay! Location is perfect for London, very walkable area, tube super close by. And also the bed and room very so nice and cozy. I would stay here next time!

Great location. Easy access to Earl's Court tube station. Sainsbury grocery store nearby. Good access to V&A Museum, Natural History Museum. Enjoyed pubs nearby. Even though on a busy street the soundproofing was perfect: no street noise. Breakfast options available besides full English breakfast which were reasonable.
