Courtyard Tuscaloosa

The hotel was under renovation which we were not told. So most of the normal amenities we enjoy with marriott were not available. We were not allowed any upgrades even though we are platinum elite members

Property is being remodeled so the entire lobby area was unavailable. No breakfast, no business center, etc. yet rates were as high as they typically are on move-in weekends.

Newer hotel with indoor pool, gym; nice amenities. I also think the location is good; next to various restaurants and stores.

The restaurant was under construction at the time which is why there was limited dining. Would stay there again, room was clean and staff was excellent.

To be clear, my room was fine. Comfortable and clean. Staff were all polite and friendly, BUT the entire first floor was under renovation. I walked into a lobby of plastic sheets, construction dust, and the reception desk was a folding table with a computer on it. No lobby. No breakfast area. No Bistro bar. No lobby furniture to sit on while waiting for friends. No refundable reservation! My mistake. I was banking on my previous stays at Courtyards. Never occurred to me the pictures of the lobby, the dining area, the bar as advertised would be fake. Nothing there but plastic, blue tape, sheetrock dust. Breakfast was a granola bar and an orange. Had I known I definitely would NOT have booked. Nowhere did it say under renovation. I felt trapped in my room. Would not have been nearly as aggravating if I had known in advance, like LOBBY AND ADJOINING AREAS ARE UNDER RENOVATION. NO HOT BREAKFAST OR BISTRO BAR.

No one at the property front desk my entire stay. Alarm went on in the hotel during the night with no explanation because no one is to be found. Mostly there was no notice telling me the place was under construction. The lobby was gutted.

I stayed there 3 nights, and nobody came to clean the room or to provide clean towels. The pool was filthy and smelly. I understand when a facility is being closed for repairs or for end of season (inside pool by the way), but it doesn't mean that you will expose your guests to nasty and smelly installations. People pay to stay in a hotel to feel welcome and in peace. Under construction should not mean poor service and maintenance, all what it indicates is poor customer management.

Upon arrival, I noticed that the drinking glasses were not clean, closet door off the hinge, what looked to be mildew at the base of the shower, and a VERY dusty air vent in the bathroom (reachable by anyone due to low ceiling). Over my multiple-day stay the bed was not made - although service was requested (at booking and in person). I had to request toilet paper and towels from service personnel (since the bed was not made, I wasn't sure if the towels would be changed). After receiving the towels, one had a large hole in it. Full service was requested to the front desk multiple time for my room, and the rooms of the group I was with. It wasn't provided. When we expressed our concerns to the front desk, we were met with endless excuses, and very unprofessional cleaning staff, one of which stomped and yelled about how she was quitting. We weren't allowed to speak to the manager on duty (stated that he didn't speak to customers). Upon return to our rooms, we found the cleaning staff making up the beds. It was 7pm at night!!! Staff frequently smoked at the front entrance and were on cell phones. I will certainly think twice about booking with the Marriott brand again, due to this experience. I can assure all that I will not ever again book a stay at this location (Courtyard Tuscaloosa).

Staff were great. Rooms were clean, except carpet left socks black but beds were clean and comfy and everything else.

The hotel appeared to be somewhat recently renovated, but was still dirty. There was a smell that seemed like mildew or water intrusion and the circulation was so bad in the hallway that standup fans were brought in to try to move air - perhaps to dry out the water intrusion. The lobby was completely closed - presumably for renovations, but there was no evidence they were still active. My career history involves managing hotel Renovations and this one was poorly handled at best. The toilet was clogged easily and when my husband called down to ask for help, the staff at the desk was rude and acted annoyed we had asked for help. When I tried to call back down for additional towels, no one would answer at all after several attempts. When we departed, no one was at the front desk. Overall, the hotel may be renovated but the upkeep is severely lacking and there appear to be no efforts to make the stay comfortable for guests, nor are there explanations to guests that the lobby and breakfast areas are closed. I have been a longtime guest of Marriott properties and have worked on them and this is certainly not up to brand standard.

There is a smell in the elevator and the rooms that is awful. Please address.

There was a roach inside my room.

There were very loud unruly guest in the pool, lobby and parking lot on arrival. Luckily they were on a different floor so wasn't an issue once in the room. The wallpaper was coming loose from the wall or not properly applied. The only other negative thing was the bedding was stained and we had to request clean linen. The beds were comfortable and the room was as clean as a hotel room can be.

Ac in the room didn’t get cold. Pretty hot during the night. Front desk was nice, quick and easy check in

No explanation on connecting to the Wi-Fi checking in. In two days, nobody replaced the smoke detector beeping out in the lobby. Thin walls on the first floor from above. Somebody out blowing leaves at 8:30 in the morning right outside the window. Better places for the money.

Had a suite room with a patio but couldn’t access it because the lock on the door was stuck and couldn't open the bathroom door all the way because it hit the toilet at a little over half open

The room was decent but they need to upgrade everything in there. Some staff members where amazing. Cleaning team went above and beyond but the place needs work

TV didn’t work and they had no luck fixing it so they changed us into another room. They took care of moving us and kept apologizing for it. Very nice and helpful.

Courteous efficient staff, room was clean.

The hotel was so noisy the room next door was so lolud the phone didnt work til I fixed it after 2 days and then I was able to call and complain and nothing changed. A room of 4 was set with 2 bath towels they asked me if I still needed the queen size beds I said yes and we had doubles. Our room was never cleaned even tho it was suppose to be every other day in 5 nights they only made our beds 1 time after we complained. Overall for the amount of money we spent per night was so much and then for what we got it was not ok - very disappointing from a Marriott

Staff was very courteous and check in was easy. We did have to request our room be cleaned and new towels after it was not taken care of after the first night.

The location was excellent, and the room was clean. However, the pillows were too soft for my liking, and the towels could have been better. I didn’t use the maid service, so I can’t comment on that. Overall, I’d give the location an 8 out of 10.

Location is also near the highway.

We were in town for a wedding south of Tuscaloosa, and this hotel was the closest and most reasonably priced. The hotel was mostly clean. They had recently installed new carpet in the hallways and/or working on re-tiling the lobby. The room was adequate and the bed comfortable. The hotel is conveniently located near Starbucks, and other fast food places.

It was an amazing stay with delicious food at the bistro, clean room with comfortable beds and nice amenities (big screen TV/refrigerator/microwave/wifi, affordable price, and plentiful shops nearby. It was close to my destination (Moundville).

I have 3 different problems with is place So I have had some problems with my stay at this place I’m a traveling felid service tec so when I book these place I try and book them for a week stay some time the job take me long or shorter well this time I didn’t say my full week and when I check out THEY WOULDNT REFUND ME MY TWO NIGHT THAT I HAD LEFT AND THEN ON TOP OF THIS I HAD TWO ROOMS THAT I BOOK FOR MY OTHER GUY THAT WAS HELPING ME ON THIS JOB And they have a bar and restaurant there but the lady that run it work another job so it may be open when I was there it wasn’t open Monday night or Tuesday night it was only open Wednesday night but that’s why I stayed at this kind of hotel is so I don’t have to leave The rooms was ok my room I couldn’t get to a cold temp it was on but it wouldn’t keep cold

This property offers a restaurant and a coffe shop as an amenities and there is not restaurant only a small room next to the entrance where you can get a breakfast. They have a Starbucks sign but the barista doesn’t have any clue how to prepare the beverages . I ordered a white chocolate mocha and it was horrible !! My boyfriend ordered a coffee and it tasted horrible . He have a second try the next day and same thing horrible!! And it was not free!! The bathroom did not have enough toilet paper. Only 1 roll and 2 bath towels no extras neither . The clerk is not always at the entrance . If you need to request. Something or buy a snack you always have to wait . Honestly for the price I paid , I was expecting a better hotel. I stayed two nights at another hotel the same week and you can see the big difference. I will not stay in this hotel again.

View was of garbage trailer. Breakfast lady was slow like molasses; eventually got food but had to change our dine in to take out.

Excellent place to stay. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, very clean, all inclusive breakfast with a made to order chef for omelets. Enjoyed my stay.

I booked this hotel because they advertised a restaurant in the lobby. My parents are disabled and i needed them to be able to eat breakfast on the property. While driving to hotel, we found out the restaurant was closed. We checked in and were told there was grab and go breakfast of bagels, muffins and coffee. There were just nutrigrain bars and coffee.
