Rodeway Inn Tuscaloosa near University

Great place, only wish the pool had been open, but i was a little early in the year.

This hotel has been completely renovated and has all the modern amenities. It was very clean and smelled amazing. The staff was super friendly and helpful.

I paid over $850 to say 1 night while I was in Tuscaloosa for a concert. The price was raised due to the concert but this is a very low quality hotel. In the future I would rather sleep in my car. If you have any sensitivity to smoke or mildew smells, do not stay here. The smell of cigarettes is so strong it’s hard to breathe and you cannot open the window because there are no screens. I spent most of the time in the room covering my nose & coughing. If I paid $100/night I would not have left a review, but considering I paid almost $900/night, i felt compelled to share details of the room. I was fooled by other reviews that stated this was nice. The only “renovation” I saw was a new mirror by the sink. Other than that this was rundown and when you walk into the lobby the smell of air freshener is so overpowering. There was also an air freshener hanging on the hotel room door. I would not recommend this hotel and staying in your car, a camper or tent is a better option.

Property was pet friendly and entryway was welcoming with the exception of the strong air freshener smell. We stayed in a two bedroom which was nice. Pillows were a little flat for our liking but the bed was comfortable (not too soft and not too hard) The shower could have used a good cleaning. There was pink mold growing in the grout on the wall. It also needed a shelf to hold soap and shampoo we brought. But they do provide that from a wall dispenser. Floor in the second bedroom was sticky and my sister’s socks were dirty from the flooring. Staff was friendly and very helpful when we complained about a urine smell in the second bedroom. He quickly came and sprayed a deodorizer in the air conditioner. Breakfast was average continental selection and checkout was easy. Just remember you get what you pay for- if you buy cheap you get cheap.

I’ve stayed in 3 other hotels in Tuscaloosa and this one was, by far, the best. I’ll definitely stay here again.
