Comfort Inn Chula Vista San Diego South

Stayed one night and it was decent. The building is noticeably older and can use some significant renovations, but the room was clean. Walls are thin and I could hear the neighbors and their children quite clearly during the night. My tub had a permanent bath mat stuck to the tub that couldn’t be removed, and it was blackened from long-term use. Breakfast had a decent variety, but very carb heavy. Not much fruit, just a few green apples. Parking was easy to navigate. In all, my stay wasn’t bad, but I don’t feel like it was really a great value for what I experienced. The price was on the higher end comparatively.

Tight parking. Filled up quickly

The gym equipment was not very good. It had free weights (barbells) but the treadmill, bicycle, elliptical and rowing machine were all broken. Looks good in pictures but not functional.

The hotel was clean, and my two queen room was spacious. Carpet looked new, everything looked pretty new. The breakfast room is a good size with lots of seating. There were multiple hot breakfast options, and some changed out daily. My room wasn't ready when I got there, so that was annoying. Luckily I didnt get in til after 5. It was ready soon after. The pool is a nice size, and the parking lot roomy. There's a Burger King in the same parking lot, two gas stations and a Denny's closeby. I would stay there again. Chula Vista Village near by with lots of places to grab a meal or a drink. Not too far from the Naval base.

Hot tub and pool area were very dirty and clearly not cleaned or maintained daily as dirty towels sat at poolside for days before being cleaned up. Hotel is quite run down and needs a lot of maintenance. Definitely shows age and a lack of upkeep. No daily housekeeping. Staff are pleasant and friendly. It was nice to have some hot foods at the breakfast room.

Everything was great but there only 1 thing that was not working is there Hot spa outside! It was cold to use the pool was best to use since it was warmer! But overall I still recommended this Hotel - hopefully they will fix the Hot Tub

Nice breakfast. Arrived 2 hours before check in no rooms available. Built in 1978 and clearly no updates since. Shampoo, conditioner, lotion empty. Room smelled musty. Limited parking clise too freeway so can hear traffic. Couldn't get back in room keys wouldn't work and had to get security key to open the door. For almost $300 a night expected a better room.

Stayed for two nights, area around seemed safe, room curtains and beds had stains and the heater unit was very loud and didn’t work half the time. Power went out one night for over two hours and nothing was said about it and we weren’t informed as to why.

The pool needed to be cleaned and the Jacuzzi did not work. Our bed was not comfortable. Only one elevator was working. Breakfast was very good and the staff was friendly.

-When we arrived home, we were shocked to see an additional charge for the safe... $1/night for the safe in the room (room tax) Who charges for having a safe in the room??? This is ridiculous. -The door to the pool never worked and we had to get assistance from the desk every time and had to wait a few times as they weren't at the desk. -The breakfast was ok but definitely but a bit disappointing as far as options. -The hot tub was so dirty one of the nights and it smelled like sewer... the next night it was clean and didn't smell so maybe the maintenance isn't done every night.

It was dirty. Stain on everything I the room.

We only stayed over night but the hotel was clean and the room was spotless and everything functioned completely. The breakfast was hot and plentiful.

REALLY NICE HOTEL, WITH GREAT PARKING AND VERY GOOD LOCATION TO FUN PLACES IN SAN DIEGO ROOM WAS LARGE, BEDS WERE GREAT, LARGE BATHROOM, AND NICE SELECTION OF TV CHANNELS. VERY NICE RECEPTIONIST WHEN CHECKED IN. BREAKFAST WAS QUITE NICE WITH MANY SELECTIONS. HOT OR COLD BREAKFAST. NICELY SERVED. ALL GOOD.

It was bad smell dirty room old bathrooms

Very nice and clean.

The main floor smelled like cigarette smoke and it’s a non smoking facility. We opened up our door and within 3 min of closing the door we encountered ourselves w a cockroach in our room. Not to happy about that.

Roaches.

Hotel location is great, and it appears to be a very safe neighborhood. Reception was great, and room looked clean, and smelled fresh. Until the middle of the night while using the bathroom, a cockroach showed up inside. Then by the bed side, a bunch of baby roaches started crawling up the couch. We could not sleep anymore. We left the jotel earlier than we planned due to this issue, and notifued the front desk about it. I have not hear anything from the hotel since

The best part of the stay was breakfast food options were great!! Comfortable Beds & Pillows. Worst part of my stay when I first arrived at my door it was open. Scared us a little had to check the room to make sure no one was in it. After letting the front desk know about it. He said housekeeping just got done cleaning it and I guess she didn’t close the door. My keys didn’t work only one of them had to go down stairs 3 times to get keys made. Very annoying!!! At approximately 7:00am there was a loud buzzing strange noise that woke me up. Stopped and started off and on. I called downstairs and asked what was going on. The woman said they were working on the elevators. I was almost to the point of asking for a different room. So annoying had to ask for late check out to try to get more sleep as I had interrupted sleep all morning. I stay here often and have never had experienced anything like this before. So not the best stay this time around. ;(

The rooms are bigger, comfortable than other hotels.

The room was clean. The beds were comfortable. I really appreciated that each bed had 4 pillows. I love pillows. They were good quality fluffy pillows on the smaller side. I was glad that there was coffee available all day in the lobby. I'm a big coffee drinker but most of the time when I went down to the lobby to get a cup the regular and decaf was empty. I do wish I could've logged into my own streaming services on the TV but I was glad they did have HBO

standard accomodations. Clean with the exception of the smell of the ground floor room we stayed in. It reeked a strong smell of wet moldy basement.

Beds are old

I like the cleanness of the hotel and the breakfast was great. Unfortunately the A/C Units were very noisy so it hade it hart to sleep

This was not as advertised. The room was dingy and old. The outlets were warn out and the AC unit gave off an unclean smell.

The only problem we had was noise from the room next door. The walls are paper thin so if you get noisy neighbors it’s game over. But overall, great experience. The breakfast was surprisingly good!

The hotel was adequate for the price. The rooms were nice and clean. My chief complaint is the limit parking and freeway noise.

Have stayed here before without incident(other than tight/limited parking), but this stay was not so good. Other occupants were partying/loud music, talking well into the night and morning. Went down to front desk multiple times and then felt like the person was giving me attitude. Just expected a peaceful nights rest and it wasn’t happening.

This was the smoothest check-in I have ever experience. The receptionist was super fast and kind. Very nice. Clean room and even smelled clean.

negative behavior of the reception staff who attended me at my check-in and did not clean the room in one day, unaware that the guest must request the room to be cleaned; Nobody informed me about this issue. I am very disappointed in you.

I arrived early for my check in at 1pm and check in is at 3pm so I was charged a $55.00 early check in fee one of the front desk ladies was awesome very professional and friendly the other I’m assuming was her supervisor when I ask about early check-in said yes $55 and pointed to the very nice lady for her to take care of it with other lady was very cold and standoffish but it’s OK. I understand the cost of doing business so I was willing to pay the fee But this is not why my stay was miserable. The reason why my stay was miserable at about 11 o’clock all the power went out there was a blackout not once. Did I receive a call to ask if I had anyone handicapped in the room we were stuck on the third floor having to use the stairs not only that but no AC it was very muggy and sticky out no lights and no shower so instead of checking out at noon, which is checkout time I had to check out at 7:30 in the morning so I could go elsewhere to shower and to get ready for my day. It was the most miserable night sleep I ever had. I only had like one hour sleep to top it off. when I checked out, I asked the front desk for the inconvenience if they could knock off the $55 fee they said no it’s their policy to charge that fee that all hotels do it. All I can say is this year your policy come in you need to change your policy. You have a whole hotel full of guests that were miserable and I wasn’t even asking for a free room all I was asking for is the extra fee to be knocked off.

The receptionist was very friendly upon arrival and even let us check-in 90 minutes early because our ADA room was ready. Our room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast room was clean and the wide variety of food was good and replenished when needed. And the receptionist while we checked out was also very friendly. So overall I would say the hotel is very well managed and I will return the next time I go to a concert at the amphitheater!

Received a call early in the day of my check in saying I was being sent to another hotel due to a flood at Comfort Inn. Then, a few hours later got another call saying I was being reinstated to the Comfort Inn as they had an extra room. We had a late check in. When we got there, it showed I had checked in & out the previous day. It took Steve a while to find us a room and the room was dirty. Another room was given to us but the whole experience was horrible, specially when you’re tired and just want to get some sleep. Steve did his best to find a solution and I don’t blamed him but the lady who contacted me earlier in the day with all the switching back & forth. That person messed it up. I will not be using Comfort Inn moving forward.

Really enjoyed staying at this property. Hotel was clean, beds were very comfortable ac worked great. Breakfast was good the staff in the breakfast area was friendly and attentive she asked us if everything was good or if we needed anything. Pool area was nice and working order. The front desk staff is very welcoming and helpful, I had to leave to the airport and forgot to give something to my son and they held for him till he got there to pick it up. Very convenient gas station, Burger King and a Mexican seafood restaurant in the same are easy access to the freeway. Definitely would stay there again!!

When first checked in receptionist was very rude and on the phone which was a personal call stating she was going to get her eye lashes done and talking about pricing and how she felt about going after work she was very unprofessional she made us feel like we were bothering her when we checked out receptionist was very nice

Upon check-in I was met with a young lady who was more interested in her phone in the back room than helping the guests who arrived around 8:00PM. The elevator smelled like Snoop was a long term guest and the room was less than clean. I wasn’t expecting a 5 star hotel but at bare minimum, clean. Breakfast was simple but decent and that area was pretty clean. 👍. We were told if we needed our room cleaned since we had a 3 day stay, we would need to call in the morning before 11:00 AM. I called in the morning after our first night, only asking for additional towels, they said they would be delivered before 4:00, which was fine since we were out and about during the day. NO CLEAN TOWELS. We went downstairs to 1) ask for clean towels and 2) for additional towels for the pool area. Was told we would get towels delivered to the room and was told the towels were out at the pool area. We went and looked, no towels. Came back at told the front counter rep and she said“maintance is on break and I don’t do their job!” I figured well if they are ok with me soaking wet coming into the halls of the hotel, so be it. After night two I called before 11:00 AM and asked for our room to be cleaned, was told “Will do…” returned around 4:00-4:30… Nothing was cleaned. If I could give zero stars, I would. Now to be fair, I chose this hotel for price, it was several hundreds less than a comfort Inn next to SDSU. Again I wasn’t expecting a grand hotel but at bare minimum, do what you say.

The counter guy Art is very friendly, always provides best service. Especially this month: I got sudden sick and couldn't go on my scheduled date, tried to call the hotel and Expedia to reschedule my reservation, got denied. When Art found out I didn't show up, he then automatically offer extended help, asked his supervisor to give me(a loyal customer who goes every month) an exception and canceled my reservation for me with the refund! I will always remember his kindness, and continue book room on my monthly business trips.

Close to hwy and easy access

Great location close to Karinas Mexican seafood gas station near hotel and also burger king. Mall close by and close to the freeway .Checking in went fast and I asked them to hold my bag after checkout they did

Decent size pool and decent location to travel around San Diego. Clean rooms and friendly staff. Somewhat noisy due to being close to highway but not a deal breaker

Worst experience here, got in a little pass 10pm, this hotel where is located looks very unsafe. There was a guy roaming around while looking for parking. I was checking in a guest came to ask front desk for near by restaurant guy smelled like alcohol. Checked in was on the 4th floor, rooms are thin walls people were screaming, laughing there was a baby that wouldn’t stop crying her cry gave me anxiety. My keys were not activated for the room, went down to get them activated waited to go back up and keys didn’t not work. Mind you they have human trafficking posters all over, they have signs to make sure you take all your personal values and not responsible if your car gets broken into. Also I never stayed at a hotel where they take cash deposit. It was $100 with card and $200 for cash. The front desk girl Cassandra not helpful at all. I grabbed my things and left, went to book another hotel. Expedia do better with putting realistic pictures, place sketchy, Smelled mildew in the hallway on 4th floor

Staff were great . Plenty of towels .bathroom well supplied. Lots of plugs avaliable including USB outlets .Breakfast was wonderful. Make your own waffles...Strawberry or regular. Scrambled eggs Bagels toast yogurts sliced ham cheeses cereals orange juice cranberry juice coffeeand fruit cups .

This hotel was very clean and the staff was very nice. However I was very disappointed that the hot tub was not clean and available to use and the breakfast was not appetizing at all. But for the price it is a great option.

Generally, the room is clean. The hot Jacuzzi was out of order. The breakfast is good. Overall rating is not bad.

The side door to the parking lot, open until 10:00 pm daily was frequently locked. We repeatedly told the females at the desk about it. They said they would take care of it but mostly never did. The male working the desk when we checked in was courteous, professional, and helpful. The female working the desk when we checked out had no people skills and no concept of customer service. While we appreciated the complimentary breakfast, the food was poorly cooked; the fried potatoes were overcooked and mushy. The pastries were stale and the bread was moldy. The food was prepared seemingly for a certain group of people rather than Americans in general. There was no drinking water available. The dried cereal was stale. Two slots of the four-slice toaster didn’t work, which was an inconvenience. The ice machines were inconveniently located; we had to go down a floor and all the way to the end of the hallway for ice. The hotel interior was cramped, dark and gloomy, with outdated decorations. For those reasons we have no intention of going back there.

Continental breakfast had expired products and molded pastries

Comfortable beds, clean beds. Breakfast was better than expected- hot breakfast with eggs, sausage, home style potatoes, waffles, good coffee and pastries. Only complaints- hairdryer was the weakest I’ve ever used in my life. Also, phone charging port in the room did not work.

The hotel was clean, the breakfast was basic but good, the staff by and large friendly, the rooms decent and the beds excellent it was like sleeping on a cloud...overall for what you got the price was quite reasonable

We enjoyed our stay. The morning breakfasts were great and the ladies servicing the breakfast were so helpful and sweet. Several places to eat within a few min drive and a few in walking distance. Easy on and off the freeway. Overall a great place to stay.
