The hotel is nice and definitely a good price for the location. It seems to be more in the commercial/business area of Costa Mesa. I was disappointed they now charge $24 a night for parking and that the breakfast is no longer free.

Visiting California from Phoenix for a grandson's birthday. The hotel was very nice and the staff were very friendly. Free shuttle to the airport. Only surprise (negative) was no free breakfast. Instead, a reasonably priced restaurant.

The hotel was in great condition and a good spot for exploring costa mesa. The le chateau restaurant on site had some amazing huevos rancheros + great drinks. The pillows were not very comfortable and had minimal support. The electric vehicle only parking had non-ev cars parked in it on a few occasions. Given our rental had to be an EV, it made charging difficult when spaces alloted for EVs were taken by non-Ev cars. The complimentary cookie at the front desk at 530pm was reminiscent of double tree. All in all, good experience, would book again.

Pros: Check-in was smooth; room was ready at check-in; room was cleaned daily and essentials (towels, etc.) were refreshed frequently. Cons: EV chargers were not working; non-EVs parked in EV charging spots when they did work; hot water was turned off for almost eleven and a half hours (9AM to 8:30PM, supposed to only be 8 hours).

Everything looked upscale and proper. However, the room was drenched in artificial air freshener toxic smell. It was so hard to breath in the room. We opened the windows and everything. It was so bad. Even our clothes inside the suitcase still smelled days after we returned home.

We were disappointed on the daily fees for parking especially when there wasn’t enough parking. I had a Tesla and I couldn’t park where I needed to charge because there where cars park there that weren’t supposed to we ask front desk put they gave us no solution. We found a roach creeping out of the closet. This is a great location but wasn’t impressed

I honestly understand how this hotel got a 9+ rating. The common areas are nice, but the room smelled SO musty/mildewy. I would have complained, but I was too exhausted to change rooms. My second and last disappointing stay at an Ayres property :(

Busy front desk confusing to get to room, not the easiest layout. TV didn’t work and the service men are very busy so it will take a while, walls are thin so you hear others conversation and every door that closes. Property seems to try to be nice but it has lots of room for improvement also parking is not free and didn’t notice that when choosing it. Only feather pillows and beds are definitely in need of replacing.

It was good. The beds were very comfortable, and the AC helped to keep the room at good temperatures. The bathroom was nice, but had not bar of soap upon entry. Areas inside the hotel were nice, and the pool/outdoor dining area looked very cozy and welcoming.

This is our place when we come to Orange County and I have reviewed before with joy. But let me tell you what we discovered this time. There was a huge wedding at the hotel when we were there. A dinner in the courtyard with LOUD music and lots of guests. Imagine my dismay when our room turned out to be RIGHT THERE. I mean, 15 feet away. BUT……omg, when we entered our room and closed the door……..quiet. Blissful, peaceful quiet. The party, I hear, went on into wee hours. But we heard nothing. And had a lovely , lovely night’s sleep.

great room, very comfortable, super clean, kind staff. flyover zone - lots of airport noise. my room was next to the courtyard so a lot of noise from the restaurant on site as well. they charge for parking and it adds up, so make sure you take that into account. would stay here again if I had to return to this region...

Hotel needs better windows, they know they are located near an airport, can hear planes all morning and evening. Parking was a rip off - charged for the day you arrive and didn't give full 24 hours for the overpriced fee. Won't be back

Site said breakfast was included. When I got there they told me it wasn't included. Charged me $96 for parking rented vehicle for just over 4 days. Was not told that when I booked it that parking my rented vehicle would cost me nearly $100. They blamed Hotels.com. Said it wasn't their problem. Also received a ticket/warning (don't know which) on my windshield as I was leaving. Not sure why. Won't be back

I absolutely loved this hotel and my stay was more than I could have asked for! My check-in process with Karina was so positive and she was very friendly and helpful. She even left me some cookies for the desk for when I returned from my dinner plans! My room was lovely - clean, well maintained and comfortable! The Bistro was wonderful, and sitting in the gorgeous patio was such a bonus! The food was yummy and the staff so attentive, friendly and polite! Previously I stayed at the Ayres, Anaheim several times and also at the Chino Hills once, however this Costa Mesa location was, by far the best!

Unfortunate hotel set up results in guests in the rooms being kept awake by drunken loud guests in the restaurant. Getting a refund entailed first being blatantly lied to by the male representative at the front desk, then being blown off by him, all along being treated like a second-class person. He told me to call Expedia and put them on the phone, so he could process the refund. When I called Expedia and handed him the phone, he told Expedia I should not get the refund and then basically told me to shove off. This was strange, if I am being generous. Next day, there was a woman at the desk and she processed the refund for the room which I was asking for without subjecting me to humiliation and lies. The male customer service representative is not professional and should not work in such a position.

When we arrived our room was not ready. The girl at the front desk basically said we were late and other guests beat us to check-in and the type of room we booked would not be ready until 5:30pm. Check in is at 3pm and we arrived at 2:30pm. I asked how could we be late, in which the receptionist said that other guests had checked in days prior or requested early check in that day. There was no apology and we were made to feel like it was our fault. We waited at the hotel restaurant for 1:30 hours. The least they could have done is offer complimentary meal/drinks or free parking, which used to be free. I will note that they offered us another room that was supposedly an “upgrade”. The room we booked is the most expensive room they offer.

Chose this Hotel for an event at the Segerstom center. Ayres exceeded our expectations. We started our stay with a delicious lunch of crab cakes and a panini. I'm a little princess & the pea with pillows and often bring my own. I didn't this time and didn't miss my own. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were perfect! We used the shuttle for the airport and Segerstrom center. What a bonus! Everyone we encountered was pleasant, kind and helpful!

Convenient to the Orange County airport, the Ayres was everything we needed for a quick trip to So Cal. Beds were comfortable. Pool and hot tub were very nice. Service desk was very kind and helped me find a lost bathing suit that was dropped on my way to my room. Only suggestion I have would be more hooks to hang towels, ect. especially if we are trying to conserve water by not having the room cleaned everyday.

This hotel was outstanding for me. I was in town for UCI orientation for my kid. 10 minutes to the university. The only caution I have is that is is under the flight path for the airport. If you are a light sleeper you will hear the planes. Luckily I’m not but it could be an issue for others. The last plane I heard was around 9:45 so at least they don’t go all night.

Great value and location. Close enough to Uber to Newport Harbor (20 min though... $35?) but not in the stress of Newport Beach. very close to 405 freeway and 73 freeway. nice rooms, especially for the price. would stay there again. staff is very nice. unexpected parking fee of $24 per night so watch out for that.staff very accomodating. hotel layout is pretty... more of a resort style with outdoor hallways at times. a bit of a maze though but interesting. would have liked to have spent more time & used the pool area. has a bar too. highly recommend if you want to save money but still go to newport. 4 star hotel for $150.

This property was full of character. The architecture was beautiful. I usually don't eat at hotel restaurants but this one, Le Chateau Garden Bistro, was so good that I ate there twice. The room was lovely. Ayres was worth the money spent.
