Our room was 82 degrees throughout the stay and they do not have air conditioning. We received a refund for 1 night because of the issue but the hotel ended up kicking us out a day early because they apparently double booked the room thinking we wanted to leave early since they refunded us for 1 days (we never told them we wanted to leave early). So basically we were never compensated for the day our were was too hot to even stay in, they just refunded us one night and kicked us out for the last night. They were supposed to help us find another hotel nearby that could take us in but they never called me back and we were forced to end our vacation a day early since we had no where to stay. Then on the last day, we went to get breakfast at 930, then when I came back to my room at 10 there were cleaners in there who took my babies milk out of the fridge, had it in a garbage bag and had moved our other stuff near the front door. Checkout was at 11 but I ended up having to leave the room at 10 since the cleaner continued cleaning even after I sat down to feed my daughter. I had a do not disturb sign on the door, there should have been no cleaner in our room until 11. Overall, horrible experience.

IF YOU HAVE MOBILITY ISSUES, this property has walk up only, no elevators. This was an issue for me as I did take a fall during my stay.

The hotel is old and is overdue for renovation. Our room was dark and had a musty smell. The bathroom fixtures had mold, mildew and rust stains. The paint around the bathroom sink was peeling. The hotel serves a continental breakfast, but it didn't look appealing so we chose to have breakfast in downtown Pacific Grove instead. However, not everything was bad. The hotel is in a great location, a quiet residential neighborhood 1/2 mile from Asilomar State Park and Beach. The area is surrounded by trees and drivers share the road with deer. Our room was very quiet and the gas fireplace was a nice touch. With renovations, this hotel could be a real gem.

Not a pleasant experience at all. This facility is in dire need of updating and basic maintenance. Our room #100 had a terrible musty smell. We purchased a glade fragrance candle to hide the odor , however it was impossible to eliminate. There is no ice maker in the freezer so you have to leave your room to get ice. We arrived and the windows were open to most likely air out the room and the trash under the sink was full. The wet bar faucet dribbled water. The outer doors are left open, may as well stay in a motel 6. We closed it and was told they are all to be left open. One of the kitchen cabinet doors didn’t close and there is no dishwasher. I’m sure my review will get the canned response they leave all unhappy guests.

The property is rundown, the refrigerator did not work at night, there was mold in the bathroom. There was no patio chairs on the patio. (per advertised photos) The breakfast selection was not great. The rooms smelled moldy and musty. We were disappointed

We have stayed here twice and had very good experiences. No issues with check-in and the room is clean. The property is older and could probably use some cosmetic upgrades, but has been maintained and it didn't detract from our stay. The rooms themselves must be well insulated because we didn't have any issues with outside or hallway noise. Our favorite feature is the adjoining rooms, which is perfect for my family of 4 with the kids both under the age of 5. This setup allowed the kids to take naps and the adults could be in the other room or sit on the balcony without disturbing them. The continental breakfast is standard: cereal, waffles, pastries, and fruit. It is about a 5 minute drive to the aquarium and beach access is even closer, though not quite walkable.

It can be classified as "shabby chic" as my girlfriend put it, but frankly I didn't want to leave. We had the suite that has the kitchen, large deck, fireplace-- I know I could have stayed longer. Really the only thing missing it was dish towels and a dish rack to make cleaning our dishes easier. I'm not even sure people realize that there were actually utensils available. It made it very easy to not just stay here but make it feel a little bit more homey.

This place has good things to recommend it, and I'm sure other reviewers will list them, but I won't ever stay here again. I lost most of my hearing almost thirty years ago, due to illness. As a result, I cannot watch tv without closed captions. Our suite had two lovely, modern LG sets, both fully capable of delivering the captions. Unfortunately, the cable/satellite service doesn't include them in their transmissions, a technical possibility. No matter how good the tv set, if the signal isn't delivered, nothing doing. I have only encountered this problem once before (a hotel in Morro Bay who tried desperately to help out), and I hope to never run into it again. Fortunately, our stay here was for only one night.

This is an unusual hotel - not what expected. This hotel appears to be a 70’s vintage former Condominium Everything looks old. Every unit has a kitchen, small dining area, small living room and bedroom on a strangely laid out split level; even a few garage spaces- some with Tesla chargers. Very poor room lighting - some LED lights were blinking. The overhead light in bedroom was missing the globe - so bare light bulbs. Hotel is across street from Asilomar conference center - it’s old too. Daily breakfasts are typical and adequate with no variance from day to day. Other nearby hotel are less cost per night. I likely wont stay here again.

When we got there, front desk was closed for and the receptionist was not available for an hour. It was 9pm. There were other customers also waiting to check in. Luckily we found other customers who knew where the receptionist lives, he went there woke him up. No sorry no apologies nothing from the receptionist.

We have stayed here multiple times and come back due to the spacious rooms with a child. Breakfast staff were super friendly. Rooms could be updated and tv channels did not work at all. Two male staff members were not very helpful and rude. My partner went to ask for more towels and was denied due to the room being under my name; I had to dress and go ask for towels and they did not ID me but ID’d my partner? We will plan for another place next time if issues not addressed.

The lady receptionist on our check-in was very pleasing, polite and friendly. However, the guy on the front desk on the next day, was not really friendly and my girlfriend told me that he was not nice. It's just the way he talked when we asked for an extended check-out. We felt he's not nice. Other than that, everything was excellent. We could have extended for another night.

Staff was super nice.. from the front desk to housekeepers!! All were super friendly!! It was our family’s third time there and we will continue to come back every year!!

My stay was excellent until it wasn’t. I inadvertently reserved my room for one night short of what I needed. I discovered my error when housekeeping kept interrupting a conference call I was on. When I inquired at the front desk about extending my stay, the front desk clerk could not have been less gracious. He said they were booked and I needed to vacate my room within 20 minutes. I guess he forgot he was in the hospitality industry. That encounter totally soured an otherwise pleasant stay.

This Best Western looks like former small townhouse community, transformed to the hotel with one room in each of three levels of townhouses. Located in a nice quiet street in easy walking distance to the beautiful Asilomar facility and beach, but not in walking distance to downtown and restaurants. The breakfast is very limited by Best Western standards, which was disappointing.

Great location with excellent walks to beach and Pacific Grove ocean path. Good dining nearby. Really nice and courteous breakfast attendant. Great sunny balcony with views of the woodpecker show. Liked the "suite" arrangement. Loved it all! Would love to come back!

I ran the Big Sur 11 Miler and needed a place to stay. After some research I decided on Best Western Pacific Grove and I was so happy I did. Location was great and room was large and very quiet. The hotel is close to everything as long as you drive and feels like you are part of a neighborhood. I would definitely stay here again.

Cheapest breakfast for any best western I stayed. No option of eggs, no hot sausages, no banana, no potatoes. A few Frozen muffins with sausages were offered one at a time type and microwaved by the staff without removing the plastic bag that clearly says remove bag before microwave. Building was designed so wiered way with three levels and inside congested even with two rooms. Congested parking. This is the only best western up to now, I'm not going consider to stay again.

We have stayed here twice and had very good experiences. No issues with check-in and the room is clean. The property is older and could probably use some cosmetic upgrades, but has been maintained and it didn't detract from our stay. The rooms themselves must be well insulated because we didn't have any issues with outside or hallway noise. Our favorite feature is the adjoining rooms, which is perfect for my family of 4 with the kids both under the age of 5. This setup allowed the kids to take naps and the adults could be in the other room or sit on the balcony without disturbing them. The continental breakfast is standard: cereal, waffles, pastries, and fruit. It is about a 5 minute drive to the aquarium and beach access is even closer, though not quite walkable.

Everything about the service, room, and stay was great, only suggestion is to improve the breakfast quality. Items included refrigerated hard boiled eggs, cereal, bagels, and toast, not the usual selection we’ve experienced at other Best Westerns. Not a dealbreaker but something to consider.

Rooms do not have AC. TV didn’t work, phone wasn’t connected, had to physically go ti the front desk for help. Staff was friendly and helpful but property just wasn’t that good. Shower also drained very slowly. Spacious rooms. Because of no AC, some people leave their doors open so you hear everything.

If you are a senior staying there, it is very dark inside at night and there are steps going from the bedroom to the kitchen and bathroom with no lighting. It could be a hazard if you are not careful at night. The electric fireplace was a nice ambiance.
