The duplex queen suite was clean, comfortable and quiet. The pool and jacuzzi were heated and pristine. Nice pool towels. Only one night, but it was delightful.

We had a truly bad time. i will never stay there again, and i advise everyone else not to stay at that place. first, there is no staff at the hotel, nobody. no reception, absolutely nobody. Finally, we read the notice at the door which directed us to go to a hotel down the road. there we obtained the room key. there were several deficiencies with the room. The booking price included continental breakfast. There was no such think (again, no staff onsite). Never never never again. Uwe

Check in is the next door sister property , easy parking access . Jacuzzi water wasn’t hit . The AC is right next to the bed so whoever is next to it , it will blow cold air straight to their face.

The jacuzzi was closed and the pool was very dirty. However they still wanted to charge a resort fee.

Cute and quiet boutique hotel with a very pleasant atmosphere . They have a little happy hour at 4:00 pm and a continental breakfast in the morning. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We had a sundeck off our room that was a great place to relax in the late afternoon. The pool and jacuzzi were clean and pleasant. It’s close to downtown so it’s convenient to restaurants, shops and other attractions. Definitely will go back!

Hotel seemed like it could have a nice vibe, but the grounds, patios, and pools were in need of a good cleanup. Staff was friendly and helpful. Hotel looks tired and worn, but this could have been improved with better groundskeeping. Dead leaves and debris were everywhere.

Smaller, enclosed property with nice pool and shady seating areas for hot Palm Springs summers. Staff wery accommodating with unexpected upgrade because slow season. Suprise wine and chees in afternoon by pool.

Location is great near Downtown, room is moderately comfortable and the adults only rule ensures that it’s a calm and quiet environment nice for relaxing.

We had a great trip! Nate and staff are very friendly and go above and beyond. From delivering ice cream cups to the pool to wine/cheese hour to checking in on guests, they made sure everyone was taken care of. The limited hours of the office were a little annoying, but their sister property next door is open all the time and can help. The rooms could use a little maintenance (dresser door didn’t want to stay shut, lower part of door seal didn’t line up and door knob didn’t always latch). It should be noted we didn’t bring this up to the office because we were out and about a lot, and forgot to at checkout. We will stay here again!

This hotel is great! It is in a safe, walkable area, near many restaurants and entertainment. Pools always clean - rooms are spacious. I fully recommend this hotel.

The property itself is nice, quiet and private however we had issues with our room that was surprising to have. We had mosquitoes in the room and woke with bites. We had ants all over the restroom. On the morning of my checkout, I got into the shower and within a minute or so, a huge cockroach fell on my foot. I don't know if it was on the ceiling and did not see it or it was in the toiletries cubby hole. I had to jump out of the shower and use hairspray to get rid of it. As for the shower itself, the water temperature is not consistent. The water would stay cold and then suddenly come out boiling hot. Too hot to the point where it can seriously burn someone. On checkout, I did inform the manager (Nate) of my experience. I told him they need to fumigate and fix the shower. His response is that the insects are trying to get away from the summer heat. That response tells me that they are probably aware of having an insect issue. I was extremely disappointed at the end of our stay because when I got there, everything looked nice and was hoping to make that hotel one of my regular Palm Springs hotels to stay at.

Clean, cozy, and relaxing with nice staff

Overall an excellent experience, especially given the price. Our room was nicely decorated and very clean and bed was super comfortable. We were just a few minutes' walk from the main downtown strip with restaurants and shops, etc. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful.

Adorable, small, historic, quiet, retro hotel. Desk clerk was friendly and attentive, offering to move me to a bottom-floor room when he saw I had trouble with the stairs. Walked me to my room and made me feel welcome. I would definitely stay here again. Great location.

We had a duplex suite which we thought was quite reasonably priced for the convenience of the in-town location, the high-season, and the amenities. We would return.

Awful place. Dark, dingy, claustrophobic rooms and hotel. If you like sleep, stay away! The AC unit was like a jet engine, the people upstairs were like elephants all night and the hapless desk man, after a sleepless night woke me up early in the morning for no good reason at all. This place is hell

This property has that mid-century modern charm. The room was spacious and we liked the little balcony of our bedroom. The pool area and hot tub were very nice and the flow to the breakfast area was good. Staff were very helpful and nice. The one downside in our room was that it was adjacent to the main road and it was noisy. We turned on the A/C and put in ear plugs to deal with it. Maybe if you were on the other side it would have been a little less noisy. You basically give up quiet for convenience to restaurants etc. in this case.

The location is close to shops and restaurants within walking distance. The pool area is nice and relaxing and clean as well. The room was nice, it just seems like it has seen better days. The barn door leading to the restroom was holding on by a thread, The carpets just looked dated, But my main complaint would be the Air conditioning unit as it was just way too loud! The rooms really need updated with wall mounted mini splits. Overall I would recommend a stay here as long as you take the above into consideration.

my first time staying at this hotel, and I am really glad I selected it. I had one of upstairs rooms, which featured very large, private balcony decks. If you need something, super relaxing, quiet, private and restful (which is what I really needed) I gladly recommend Movie Colony Hotel

I’ve been wanting to stay in this hotel for years and finally took the chance to. This hotel is very comfortable, quiet and relaxing. A classic Palm Springs hotel with classic mid modern century design, I highly appreciated. The service was great, front desk and cleaning team were extremely helpful and welcoming. I got to admit, the room I had could have some improvements. The pillows were flat, water kept coming out of the shower so the bathroom mat kept getting wet, the closet door wouldn’t open all the way as the floor was a little warped and the WiFi hardly worked where I was staying. If I were staying longer this would’ve been a huge issue, but I let it slide as I only stayed for a short time.

Love this place, bern several times!!! The air conditioner units are quite noisey, where ear plugs!!! The shower water takes about 10 minutes or so to get a nice temperature!!!

Loved the 2 levels of the suite, very spacious and comfortable. Friendly check in staff. Please make a smoking area or allow smoking on balconies. Making smokers go outside the gates is not nice.

Checking into the MCH I was asked for a $50 deposit for incidentals, which is expected, I guess, even though this hotel has absolutely no service services that could possibly accrue incidentals. Anyway, the credit card machine I could see a tap so ask if I could use my phone to leave the deposit because I didn’t have my wallet with me. I had taken out my ID but had misplaced the credit card. As I’ve come to expect the answer was no, because for some reason, that’s the go to answer at hotels I have found lately. Anytime I make a request. It always seems like there’s never anything anybody can do. Except there is but they just don’t want to. Anyway, so I ask if I can leave cash which she agrees to but says that it will then be $100 instead of 50 plus there will be a 25.99 resort fee but the cheese is closing the front desk in the next five minutes so she wouldn’t be here and I should. I would have to check in at an adjacent hotel. Since I didn’t have my wallet I had to find a Bank of America so that I could tap my phone if you get the cash to pay for incidentals that were not even available. Just a huge hassle and for no reason other than to make things difficult then I could tell. We finally got checked in. The state was fine I guess. The grounds are a bit rundown, but the room was nice and clean. Breakfast in the lobby in the morning was more than the standard stale muffin and juice. It actually had quite a selection of cereals and pastries and stuff.

Second time. We love the place. Great staff. Booked through Hotels.com. Supposed to include ALL taxes and fees. NOT...at check in I was charged a $77 resort fee. I did not argue. Just disappointed. I'm sure I'm NOT the only one.

This boutique hotel goes above and beyond in every aspect - hospitality, comfort, cleanliness, and charm. The location was ideal - walking distance to downtown and right across the street from Cafe La Jefa Coffee House. The Movie Colony Hotel is a true gem, and can’t wait to return.

Location was perfect! Perfect place to stay if you want to walk around downtown. We brought our dog and she was very welcome

The property was super cute in its midcentury modern design. The hotel attendant was really nice and helpful. The rooms were nice with an unexpected patio. We enjoyed the 4pm wine with cheese and crackers. It was an easy walk to downtown. We stayed on a Thursday night and enjoyed walking to the Villagefest. We will definitely stay here ago when we come to Palm Springs.

Little gem of a hotel, easy check inn we did arrive a bit early and our room was just about ready, very friendly and relaxed, loved the little areas around the pool. Great view from the balcony over the pool and palm trees with the mountains in the distance, retro music playing at the pool into the evening- fantastic my feet would not keep still, perfect distance for strolling into town. Continental breakfast in the morning , yogurt,cereal, bagels, toast, juice & coffee. We would definitely stay here again if we found ourselves in the area, sadly it was a flying visit this time.

Movie Colony is centrally located and close to everything - but it is still nice and quiet. Will definitely be staying here again.

I have stayed at the Movie Colony several times and have always enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. Great pool and great staff. The location cannot be beat. It is close enough to walk everywhere in downtown Palm Springs. Highly recommended.

Staff were amazing! Rooms were clean and welcoming. Complimentary wine and cheese at outdoor pool was such a nice addition. Outdoor pool area needs a refresh and we thought the start time of the continental breakfast (9:00 am) was too late. Recommend either starting earlier (e.g. 8:00 am) or at the minimum, having fresh coffee at the outdoor bar area.

Loved the pool and hot tub..............adults only hotel made for a very quiet common area. Happy hour was fun.............continental breakfast was mediocre at best. Internet was wonky ....... basically did not work in the room.........but given it was only an overnight stay..........not a deal breaker.

Loved our stay here! Small boutique hotel right uptown with great restaurants & shops a short walk away. Hotel has a great ambiance. Loved the complimentary wine & cheese in the late afternoon, and the continental breakfast, but think some fresh juice & fruit would be a nice addition to the breakfast. Overall, would highly recommend this hotel!
