Paid for riverview and got a construction view of ban at and excavator instead. Was not quiet as they started early morning work right outside our balcony every morning. Mentioned to staff and was told it was the city that did it. Did not get view we paid for and that was extra. Will not stay again.

We were very pleased with our stay at DoubleTree Durango. The location was terrific and the balcony of our spacious room overlooked the Animas River. Very scenic. Parking was easy. The dual bathroom sinks were a nice feature and there was plenty of closet space. Coin laundry facilities were another plus. The entire staff was courteous. The only minor complaint would be that the place needs a bit of a makeover in a few respects: some of the lights in the big sign out front were burned out; a chair in our room had peeling upholstery, etc. Still, we would stay there again.

It was great that the property had a laundry room. However, the machines all required quarters to operate. That meant needing $6 in quarters. There was no change machine available. When we asked that front desk if they had quarters, they didnt and told us to go buy something at Albertsons to get quarters there. We didnt think that was a good solution. The property needs to install machines that will take credit cards as payment or the front desk needs to have enough quarters to make change.

Its right by the river, downtown, quiet, and has a great pool and hot tub. You can walk to a grocery store that has a Starbucks. It's close to everything and has tons of parking.

Enjoyed the stay. This wasn’t our first stay so was a little sad about a couple things…Was a little grossed out with the dirty sheets in one of our beds,& also stepped on a razor blade cap in the shower. The patio screen door was broken off when we arrived,& the closet door didn’t open. Really wish the chlorine in the pool & hot tub wasn’t so strong.Maintence said nothing they can do about it.All my kids eyes burned severely after 20 minutes swimming. Next time we will be skipping the pool.

Mold in shower chair at the desk had the leather peeling off popcorn ceiling has holes considering the nearly $900 charge for two nights we are very disappointed I expected more class from the Hilton hotel. This place needs to be gutted and remodeled either that or you should not dare to charge people what you charge for such a shabby place.

To checking in with the warm cookie was a yummy treat to a start of a birthday weekend, to the excellent room service, and a great view from the third floor of the river. Although, the pool door would not open during operating hours and even with front desk's help at 6a.m. the assistance and attempt was lazy on the first try. After disappointment and with a hopeful second chance, another front desk agent, his name is Tia and he was extremely helpful to immediately open the pool door and was nice enough to even activate the daily engineer an hour early before their scheduled shift. The shower did have a slow drain and the corner of the shower curtain had some red hair stuck to it which was gross and not my hair color. There was crumbs in the bed when the sheets were pulled which was a concern. The room service from the Animas Restaurant downstairs was fabulous and was nice enough to offer a free birthday ice cream bowl.

Upon arrival, I did not receive my warm cookie that Doubletree is know for welcoming guests. The room needed some updating and more dusting. The room had popcorn ceilings which is troublesome for a few reasons. The maid woke me up at 7:30 am on checkout day to check if the room was ready to clean. Great location on the river and walking distance to Historic Durango.

Great hotel stay. The room was very cozy and clean. The location is perfect, right on the river and walking distance to train and shops. The Beer Garden was the perfect spot for food and drinks located on the hotel property. We were surprised by the $12 a day parking but we really enjoyed the stay.

Staff is friendly, but the hotel itself is in major need of an update. Decor is maybe meant to read “historic,” but just feels dated. There’s so much brown you start to wonder what they’re trying to hide. Our sliding door didn’t lock, a mentioned security pin was missing. Highway noise was considerable from early morning.

Nice large room. An older hotel with a bit of a modern face lift. Only complaints that were minor (based off of high priced charged) Carpets in common areas looked dated. Sealant around window seal in room was horribly done. Noise from the two surrounding highways was loud.

We only stayed for one night. Hats off to the front desk, they were amazing! Great place to stay if you are taking the Durango train to Silverton. Can’t say enough good things about how accommodating the front desk people and housekeeping people were!

Front desk person would not take the time to accommodate our request to have our two rooms closer together. We traveled with our elderly and fragile parents and provide for their care. Despite checking in early the front desk person could not or would not consider our request to have our two rooms closer to one another as the rooms were literally at opposite ends of the hotel. I mean the last rooms at the ends of the north and south ends of the building. The Hotel is very long and I approximate the distance to be about 3 to 4 hundred yards. We were told the reservations and room assignments were randomly assigned despite me making the reservations in one single transaction. This refusal to accommodate our request caused so much undo stress on my elderly in-laws and a lot of extra work back and forth. I had to park at their end of the hotel and re-park at our end six times to unload when we arrived and for check out and, too, each time we left for shopping, dinner and breakfast.

The staff member checking us in neglected to tell us where our room was located and we ended up going to the wrong side of the hotel first. I’ve been to Durango several times before since I have family in the area, but this was my first time staying at this particular hotel. Overall, my experience was very positive. From the start, I had a great interaction with the front desk and even received a thoughtful message from Jack. He was incredibly helpful, attentive, and genuinely seemed to enjoy his job. His professionalism and attitude really stood out and made me feel welcome, which set a great tone for my stay. The only reason I cannot give a full five-star review is because of an unfortunate experience at the restaurant attached to the hotel (not the beer garden, but the indoor restaurant). Before leaving town, we decided to try it out, but when I asked the waiter about food options and timing, he responded in a very rude and dismissive way, saying he “didn’t have all day or all night” because his crew had already worked very hard. The tone made us feel uncomfortable, to the point where we decided not to eat there out of concern for how we might be treated further. I also noticed him refusing to pour us a drink, yet shortly after, he served other guests at the bar without hesitation. This individual, who had long dark hair pulled back in a ponytail, was unprofessional and left a poor impression. The hotel itself is wonderful and has excellent staff like Jack, but the restaurant experience fell short. With better service in that area, this hotel would easily deserve five stars.

We were on our way to AZ and needed to break up the drive. I was apprehensive at first because it seemed ‘old’ however the ‘oldness’ is more of old world charm. The restaurant has a yummy breakfast (everything is elevated) and a nice variety. The room was spacious for a party of 5 and the beds were comfy- rollaway bed was an actual thick unfoldable twin mattress. We are actually planning to stay again on the way back through!

The property was very nice. Breakfast was good. Very nice, prompt, helpful and informative waiter at breakfast. Dinner service - not so much. We left after waiting 45 min. for the waiter/bartender to come back to take our order. Only 4 tables occupied in the restaurant that night. Although the property is a little older (I don’t mean dated), it is very clean, beautiful grounds and still nice inside the common areas and private rooms. Lovely views on the riverside. Close to the downtown and the train station. We look forward to returning.

Because the room we booked wad being repaired, we ended up upgrading to the biggest room they had (a suite). It was very nice and spacious. The furniture was a little dated, but still good. I enjoyed the suite, the river view (although the river walk was under construction), and the diner at the hotel with a nice view as well. My big disappointment was the breakfast. We paid for it when we booked the room. We found out at the hotel that we will get a voucher for the amount paid to be used in the restaurant for breakfast. The prices for all breakfast items were very high, and you had to pay for coffee and tea as well in the restaurant, even though the hotel offered coffee and tea in the rooms and in the lobby. But other than this issue, everything was nice.

Great location - walking distance from Downtown. River view from the Patio. Friendly front desk and staff. The Lounge is a little pricey and the Friday night service was a joke - didn't have the World Series on the TV. Overall, a good place to stay in Durango.
