Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark

Water in the water park was freezing cold. Parking lot was an ice rink although it hadn’t snowed in a week. We told the front desk on check in that the parking lot needs salt and they stated “I know it does but there is nothing I can do about that, I’ve only worked here two weeks and don’t know who takes care of it”. Save your money and go to great wolf lodge. Water park was not busy but the lines for attractions were long due to not many tubes and broken equipment. They are running on a shoestring and should be embarrassed.

The first day we went to the water park and they had no tubes for the lazy river. The second day they had no towels!!!

The waterpark really is a joke! They had maybe 6 tubes for the entire lazy river! I wish I was joking! They really don’t have much at all just lame!

The indoor water park seemed really outdated. The slides were unorganized, perhaps they were short staffed? The lazy river had a limited number of tubes so you had to walk which defeats the purpose of being lazy. The kids section was closed down so a lot of kids were running in splashes in the river. The floors appeared to be dirty and since water shoes were not allowed I was uncomfortable walking around. The restaurant had amazing food. Dinner was the best part of the whole stay.

Good deal for a decent room and indoor water park included with our stay. Took away one star for minor issues. Like for instance having to ask around to get information or answers to questions. About half the staff I encountered didn't seem to know much about the hotel itself or the Waterpark. That can be really frustrating at times, especially when trying to navigate the place with tired little ones. The more seasoned staff are incredibly helpful though. The Waterpark wristband system is strange. The Waterpark is located on the floor below the lobby. If you are staying at the hotel, you have to either keep your water park wristband on the entire length of your stay, or go to the front desk to turn in your old wristbands and get new ones. If you are not a hotel guest, you have to go to the gift shop to purchase wristbands. Wristbands are not available at the Waterpark entrance. Keep this in mind so you don't end up riding the elevator a bunch of times trying to get back into the Waterpark. Aside from those few drawbacks, the place is nice. My family had a lot of fun at the arcade and indoor Waterpark. We didn't venture to the outside attractions. My kids are little and had plenty to entertain them inside the resort. If you have older kids, say 10 and up, they may enjoy the outdoor attractions more. The park is conveniently located close to a lot of other things like Walmart, places to eat, other fun activities, and a nice playground. We'll be back again.

Overall we had an excellent stay. The waterpark was fantastic for the kids, very clean and lots of fun activities for all ages! Would definitely stay here again

Only thing that was lacking was staff in the water park indoor and outdoor. Everything else was great.

I brought my granddaughters for a couple of days and I was pleasantly surprised. While it is a bit tired I understand as it seems to be a popular place. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Outside the front doors was an overflowing garbage and old car seat so it was a little off putting at first. The arcade needs to have its games fixed and workable for enjoyment. Overall the kids had a great time and I was happy with the experience. Well done Patricia

Pool.was ok, no buggies when we left, had to hump family of 4 down 4 flights of stairs as the the elevator was jammed, very slow service at both restaurants, and not accepting cash is a reason not to return

Not enough pool towels. Some slides were closed in the waterparks. No fruit option in the breakfast area.

Our overnight stay was a great mini getaway. Kids a a great time! We arrived at 11am on a thursday during the kids winter break and was given a room right away which was a pleasant surprise. The waterpark was fun! Not overly crowded for winter break which was nice. We waited on average 20 mins or so for the family slide. The individual slide wait time went faster. Hotel room was very clean and renovated! The breakfast buffet was convenient but if possible I wouldn't waste the money. Will not be doing that again. The food at the park was average and the service was slow but nothing that we didnt expect. My 6 year old loved having some time in the acarde. Overall the kids had a wonderful time. If I could change anything I would ask the park to invest in better tubes for the lazy river. They need pool noodles or something you can float on and still be in the water.

Was great! Room was clean, bed comfy and room was very spacious. Excellent staff and room. Water park was great and Hurricane grill was great with my food allergies. Will definitely be returning.

The waterpark itself is not clean. It really needs updating; paint, rust removal, etc. Does not look taken care of at all.

The stay here was terrible!! To start, there was no air conditioning in the hotel (except in rooms) which with the waterpark, made the hotel feel like a sauna. Unbearably hot! The hotel is dirty. There is trash throughout the hotel, inside and outside. Trashcans are full, tables are not wiped down, and we could do without the employee smoking in the parking lot. The day we checked in, part of the water park was closed because there was poop in the lazy river. Staff could care less about their guests. The coffee shop where Starbucks coffee is advertised never opens. Coffee pots at the second floor complementary breakfast are always empty. Staff simply stands there and watches while you try to get coffee. Rooms are not refreshed between days. Bathtub has a slow drain so you are always showering in 6 inches of water. We wanted to love this experience, but unfortunately it was beyond disappointing, especially for $300+ per night! I would not recommend!!

Room wasnt properly cleaned, looong hairs in the tub which didn't drain properly. Missing blankets for the LUMPY and sunken pull put couch, the bed frames, a slight odor... possibly from the carpet and ants on the AC unit. Waterpark opens at 11, then closed from 1-230. Not ideal for a family with kids eager to play. Also, the wood for the tall slides with tubes was rotted. When we called down for more blankets, we were told to walk down to get them. Rooms have AC but not the entire hotel.

Nice place just needs better upkeep, the rooms are very dirty walls are disgusting.

Room was spacious. However, the chairs were not that comfortable. They were very Adirondack style.

Fast check in and the room was nice. Friendly people working the desk. My only complaint is the shower makes a loud obnoxious noise while it’s running. Other than that we were very satisfied with our stay here.

This wasn’t our family’s first stay at the resort, but things seem to be in decline. The Good: the waterpark is fine. A few slides (although one was always out of order while we were there), a nice long lazy river, snacks… it delivers what you came for. The Bad: we had to wait a little over an hour after we checked in for our room to be ready, even though we checked in after 4pm. They don’t have the cleaning staff to support the number of rooms requiring turnover apparently. Nothing like starting your trip by sitting with all your luggage in the lobby with dozens of other angry parents and screaming kids for an hour. Our room had two queen beds, and both seemed to have broken bedframes or mattresses. They sagged in a strange U shape so you felt like you were sleeping in a hammock. The shower didn’t have quite enough water pressure, so the water would occasionally just shut off completely, but when it WAS running air would leak through the diverter and make a terrible squealing sound. Both mornings we were there you could hear showers squealing as we walked down the hall. The breakfast was pretty sad. Cartons of milk, a few shelves of granola bars, and thats about it. No warm food, no lines or staff, so just kind of mayhem. All in all, it wasn’t TERRIBLE, but I can’t see us going back again.

Great place to stay! Loved the room and lodge overall. TV did not work and shower made loud squeaking noises. Wish some type of breakfast was included.

The room was clean and staff was very friendly. The waterpark was great for kids, and the half price arcade time each day made that part even better. Overall it was a fun stay, minus only a couple drawbacks: The beds were outdated and uncomfortable from big dips the mattress, and the hallway carpet being older, was bunched in some areas causing trip hazards. The vending machine prices were very high so plan to bring your own snacks and beverages!

Room clean, but mattress bad(foam) and a lot of door broken at the 4th floor. Need to lift the door for close it. Not only my room, a lot of room... Credit card only, no cash allow on site.

Probably one of the worst beds I've ever slept on. The hotel did try to accommodate by offering a newer room, but the beds were the same. Too bad, I would not book here again based on this experience.

Walls are thin. Could hear everything in next room and in hallway. There also needs to be more than 1 elevator.

The door was tough to open mechanical wise, maintenance came up and made an adjustment and it was fine after. The room was beaten up pretty good. The toilet paper despenser broke the first use and the shower made a high pitched screech THE WHOLE TIME. The rest of the stay was ok. The room although dated was clean.

Room door was broken and wouldnt shut all the way. Maintenance came and adjusted it but there was still gaps. The room set up was a little odd with a half wall and sleeping area was small.

So much fun. Something was not functioning during our stay, and when we couldn't use the theme park tickets they gave us to make up for it, they gave us free meals. That was pretty sweet. The room was very comfortable, and my son loved the water park even though he could only use the lazy river

Service was well intentioned but never delivered what they said. Room was not ready at 16h30, they could say when it would be ready. Finally was ready around 17h. Pillows were very small and I asked twice for extra pillows which I never got. Wasn’t told that Room would be maid and 4th day which is ridiculous because we were leaving on the 5th day. Was rather decided and nothing like the experience we had in 2008.

Extremely disappointed in this stay. Water park was shut down. We were told we’d get 50% off our first night stay and a complete refund on the second night if we checked out by noon. We checked out a day early. I have emailed several times and nobody will answer me or discuss the refund that management approved before I checked out. Room was crap.

We come every year and this was the worse experience unfortunately. We arrived early and checked in but room wasn't ready, but we planned ahead. They were supposed to texted us but never did. I went twice to the front desk and on the 2nd time after 6pm our room was ready but no towels. Lady at the front desk was very rude and it threw off our whole night. Water park had no towels also. Then we went to eat at restaurant and were turned away as the kitchen was overwhelmed. So, we didn't get our room until after 6 and we were expected to check out by 11 am. They were under staffed but the women at the front desk was rude and didn't even accommodate us. We have 2 kids and a 2yr old. Very disappointing

Hotel is very clean, big bottles of shampoo, soap etc. so you never run out. The front desk was very accommodating. 4th floor did not have hot water, we were moved after we were all unpacked (w/kids, swim stuff, food), it was a bit inconvenience but it was a nice stay over all.

Every staff member we came in contact with was very friendly and helpful. We so appreciated an early check in, as that made life much easier with two grandchildren in tow. They really need to give the whole place a good vacuuming. Elevator, hallway, restaurant, lobby floors were a mess. The room is a little tired but was clean. Water area, lockers were clean. Water was clean. The kids, ages 8 & 5 had an absolute blast!!! It was super nice to take advantage of pool area even after checkout! We ate at the tavern, burgers were delicious. Mac and cheese was literally a scoop (small) of Kraft (for $10!!)Hot dog served on a very stale roll that was not eaten. They need to improve their kid food selections as it is a hotel that caters to families with kids. Prices in gift shop were ridiculous. $5 for a normal size candy bar, I despise being taken advantage of. Also disappointed they removed all Christmas decorations by 11:00 am 12/26. Bottom line though was the kids could not have been happier!! It was a joy to witness!!

Check it was at 4, we get there after 5 and rooms still are not ready. Desk staff was rude and very unprofessional. We will not be going there again.

Great experience. Staff was so nice and friendly, rooms were clean and exactly what we asked for. Large rooms, comfy beds, restaurants were good, waterpark was fun! We had a great time! Absolutely no complaints

It was really fun and the kids had a blast!!!! Everyone was friendly and Kayla at the front desk was so fun and cheerful!!! Perfect person to have greeting and welcoming everyone.

It was less than pleasant. I tried calling the front desk two nights in a row because there were yelling and screaming kids next to us, kids running around the hallways and loud tv’s. Nobody came to address the situation and it was close to midnight.

Hotel has a lot of great amenities for a family stay. It is a bit outdated, but it appears they are working to remodel. Rooms are spacious and staff was friendly and helpful. Of course the onsite water park and theme park just a short walk across the parking lot are a great bonus. Lake George is just a short 10 minute drive.

We arrive at 2 pm and we got the room, it was good, clean, ac working, we went to the indoor waterpark, we were there for like an hour and they told us that they are closing, we leave to change, and it was open and working. We enjoy the theme park, its great when you travel with kids. The only thing i dont like is walking like 15 mins from the hotel to the theme park with kids. Good stay

We will definitely be coming back next summer! The hotel was clean and fun. The water park was quiet without too many people. The proximity to Six Flags is great! Overall the location was great too. Near good restaurants and Marthas for ice cream.

Great for families featuring plenty of activities including water park and arcade. We liked the room layout of two queens and a sofa bed, it was also very spacious. Parking was easy. It was nice that we could use the water park the day of check-in and the day of check out. Concessions in the water park was overpriced and not good. Water in the lazy river was freezing cold. The water slides were awesome! Otherwise a great stay!

Property was charming and fun, large and with lots of amenities. Lodge indoor water park was good especially for smaller children. A short walk to Six Flags Great Escape amusement and water park. We received passes during our stay and had a wonderful time. Most staff was friendly and helpful. Dining options on property were very nice and reasonably priced. There’s a shopping area within driving distance a few minutes away if you need supplies elsewhere. Room was very spacious and slept up to 5 or 6. I found the beds in my room not as comfortable and it was one yet to be renovated, however it still was appealing. We really enjoyed the stay.

The stay was good - not spectacular but good. I was a little grossed out because there was a large amount of hair in the bathtub drain which indicates that the tub was not cleaned which makes me wonder if the room was cleaned. Room check in is at 4pm and when we arrived at 5:30, we were told we would need to wait to check in until 6pm which is disappointing because the room was very expensive. Thankfully we had to wait just 10 minutes more, the front desk staff was really accommodating and friendly. I did have to go back down to get a blanket and pillows for the pull out bed because there were none in the room. Another issue we ran into is that the television didn’t work. Granted you don’t go to a hotel to watch TV but we had two young children with us and it’s helpful to be able to turn it on for them when showering or just to get some downtime. We did find one channel that worked but unfortunately it wasn’t a kids channel. There was plenty of stuff to do, and we did bring our phones for when the kids needed a solid 15 minutes of downtime. I think we were most disappointed with the lack of breakfast. We have been staying at the hotel every year for 3 years now and there used to be an amazing breakfast buffet there that was included and this year we were told that it was now no longer in the ballroom but the small dining area, but it was also no longer included. Again, paying over $500 for a room for a single night, you would think it would include breakfast.

The only thing I didn't like is that the price of the stay is very high and the free breakfast is only milk, cereal, yogurt, nothing more and the other breakfast is paying 15.99

No free breakfast. Breakfast that they had is not really worth the money. Better go somewhere else. It is OK for one day. The water park was OK. We used it for a couple of hours. The kids were more interested in going to Six Flags. The food options in the hotel are not that great and pricey. Hotel needs updates. It's OK in general.

The kids had an excellent time. Short walk to six flags means no parking costs. Wrist bands for both parks saved our group a few hundred dollars. The restaurant costs were very reasonable.

Overall experience was good and average. The hotel and lodge has the extortion business model. Thanks Six flags.. $5 Powerade $100 plus for a family to eat a small meal. We went down to the hotel restaurant “hurricane grill” for dinner around 4:45pm and there is a line down the hall to be seated. 25min wait for seating. And the restaurant wasn’t even packed at all. Hotel was booked up, but can’t handle feeding all the customers staying.. Overall the kids had fun but just remember it’s six flags so you’re gunna spend $$$.

The indoor water park was great! Also love the presence of so many lifeguards keeping everything safe. The room was unfortunately only so-so and the dining in the resort was our least favorite of all the places we've eaten on our whole road trip. We definitely want to come back for the water park but are undecided due to the underwhelming room we had.

Our grandsons loved the water park. But the food and drinks were so expensive and the fact that we brought cash especially for this trip made us mad. We didn’t like the idea that you could only use a debit or credit card. And 6.00 for one soda in a machine was ridiculous. I wouldn’t recommend the hotel to any of our friends.

We had stayed here 15 years ago and it was fantastic, the lobby lights need to be dusted. carpeting in hallways were thread bare. Two wasps came into window in our bedroom. Bathroom- tub had old stickers on it from a previous tub mat? needed new grout. Near window on the wall a smudge? chocolate I dont know. Pulled out night stand to plug in something paper clips and dust were next to the wall. Breakfast buffet was underwhelming for the cost. eggs were dry, french toast sticks over cooked, why cant you put out granola for the fruit area. Same old oranges I saw in the baskets at the start of the buffet not appealing. Can you upgrade to a greek yogurt rather than the cheap stuff. Dining room in the other part of the hotel was fantastic nice upgrade from Johnny Rockets. the rooms and the overall building needs a overhaul

AC in the room was not cold enough no matter how we adjusted it. We were disappointed that a true breakfast buffet didnt come with the room as advertised. Coffee by the elevator ending at 9 is not a true breakfast option on vacation. We were disappointed that the attached restaurant wasnt available even though it advertised to be open summer of 2024. Our vacation took place in summer 2024. No restaurant.
