The check in was good and clean. The area rugs and stairs up to the 2nd floor were not clean. But more to the point the pool, spa and restaurant were all closed. Oh, by the way it was an extra $30 for a view room. That was not made clear on the reservation site.

Awesome location. We had an ocean view room and loved watching the boats pass by. Free bike rental was a fun activity to do as a family. The pool was broken and the hot tub was more like a warm bath..not very hot at all. Other than that, we really enjoyed our time there.

The hotel has potential, but several details fell short of expectations. The shampoo and shower gel were only about a quarter full, and there were no tissues in the room. No breakfast available , restaurants only open at 4pm. At the pool, no towels were available, which was inconvenient. These issues may seem small on their own, but together they made the stay feel below the standard I was hoping for.

It's a nice place to spend one or two nights. The rooms. are nice, spacious and clean. The swimming pool and hot tub are being repaired so we could not use them; that should have been disclosed. The restaurant next door is better than I expected it to be with nice wait service. All around a good place to be as we await the ferry to Victoria!

Bedroom was updated and nice, bed was pretty comfortable. The bathrooms are not updated and unfortunately not cleaned well. When we checked in, there was hair around the bathroom floors as well as a brown smear by the toilet paper holder… for a 2 star hotel, it’s fine, but for the price we paid, a little disappointing. However, we were able to walk around town, so walkability and proximity to the water is great. We don’t use the pool so I can’t speak to that amenity.

The room itself looked nice, well decorated, nice bed, but as soon as I took off my shoes, I stepped in something wet at the foot of the bed. I have no idea what it was, but it was impossible not to step in it. The bathroom is about as dated as the exterior of the hotel - meaning it likely hasn’t been updated since the late 70s. It was okay, but not what you would expect for the cost. The shower was most likely cleaned, but they didn’t dry it down. So, maybe someone had showered and they left it, or maybe they cleaned it but didn’t bother to wipe it down after. Continuing in the bathroom, there were a couple fruit flies that were in there, which if you’ve ever had a fruit fly issue, you know that they’ll most likely be dozens more within a day. Also, I can’t say that the refrigerator temp met food safety guidelines so I threw out my somewhat cool-to-the-touch milk the next day. The walls were also paper thin. You will hear everything outside your door and up above you if you’re on the bottom floor. I had a significant startle in the middle of the night when I think someone slammed a door. This was not up to par given the cost, but it looks like all the hotel rates are inflated in the area. I wouldn’t necessarily book anywhere else, but only because I doubt if you can get anything better in the area.

This hotel is in my hometown, and used to be known as the nicest place to stay. Unfortunately, it clearly needs some maintenance, deep cleaning and management. I really wanted to be able to give them rave reviews, but that is far from the case. I travel often, and am easy going. That being said.. The amount of mold on the ceiling and around the bathtub in the bathroom was shocking. I would have insisted to change rooms if I had children with me, it was that bad. Check in was chaotic and unprofessional, and I knew they were totally booked. This was one of their best rooms. I quietly and gently mentioned the mold problem at check out and the staff were not concerned or apologetic at all. He seemed annoyed I even said anything. Besides that, the hallways and common stairways were filthy. The comforter had a very large tear. The parking situation is not great. The front desk only asks the make and State on the license plate. The large parking lot was packed the entire time, I had to park 3 building sections away from my stairway. Which was fine for someone traveling solo and able bodied, but would have been a nightmare with kids or Senoirs. There is a real lack of security, and it appeared that a few soft top convertable cars had been tampered with during the night. On the positive side, the view and location cant be beat! The bed rated a 10 in comfort, which is rare. I am bummed to say I wouldnt stay there again unless they have a change in management or major update.

The property has great location. With the wharf and waterfront next door and a grocery store also pretty close. Room was comfortable, quite area, great water pressure and hot water. However, the shower was awfully dirty with mold on the walls and the shower curtain with mildew.

When I checked into this property the evening manager was rude at the desk, once we got into our room I found that the room wasn’t cleaned. There were finger nail clippings and crumbs on the desk, the sheets were dirty and had hair in the pillows. There was also hair all over the closet as well as dead bugs and spiders on the floor. They also had issues with their card readers and computer systems issues that made it difficult for them to program our room cards.

Great location and view- but that's about where it stops. Room was suprisingly dirty (mold and previous guests hair in the shower). Also, not soundproof (AT ALL) as the listing claims. Booked a premium room and heard people going up and down the stair, as well as the door into the hotel open and close constantly. The room door to the hallway had a 1.5 inch or more gap at the bottom- so not suprised we could hear everything. Our room was also near the restaurant/ bar on the property and could hear the music in our room throughout the weekend evenings- not a huge deal for us but worth noting. Overall, left feeling disappointed.

Location was perfect. Very close to ferry terminal and the wharf. Our room needed a little help. Loose floor tiles in bathroom. Toilet on a severe slant. Floor badly sloped. Not sure if all rooms on that side of hotel could be sloped due to construction. Unfortunately for us the walking path outside the hotel along the water was temporarily closed for repair.

My problem is the room location…this is one of the premium view rooms that they charge more for. We were rudely awakened a little after 6 am with banging in the hallway. Our room turned out to be across the hall from the laundry room, and you can hear the very noisy washers that make it impossible to sleep in. There is also a sitting area across from our room that several people were using to carry on a conversation for several hours. I tried to call the front desk at 11:40 pm, but went to voice mail so I left a message and at five after midnight I stuck my head out and asked if they could take their conversation somewhere else. You really need to sound proof the rooms in this area because literally everything can be heard in these rooms. So next time I will know to ask for a room not near the laundry or a sitting area…that is if we ever stay here again.

I stayed in a remodeled king - water front room and everything was immaculate and well designed. The front desk took care of me with some firmer, non down pillows. Great view and nice patio overlooking the Puget Sound. Even saw a river otter.

The check in process or to purchase items in the lobby took forever. The computer system is so outdated it took 45 min for us to get checked in- 3 clerks running the desk and only 4 people ahead of us-this was at 515 pm- when we were done there were 8 people in line behind us. The clerks were awesome-they are just dealing with an archaic system

I guess they are the best option in Port Angeles, so they don't feel the need to try hard. Check-in was painfully slow. We requested housekeeping on back to back days and they failed to show up either day. I brought it up at check-out and they just shrugged. Rooms are somewhat updated and the AC is cold. Everything else, including the attitude of the staff, stinks.

Very disappointing experience with the Red Lion. They cheerfully checked me in but when I got to my room it was a tiny, single bed room. I booked a double queen bed exterior entry room nearly a year in advance. When I went back to the reception, they “apologized” said they were fully booked and blamed me for the “error” - I show them my Expedia booking and then said it was a third party booking and there was nothing they could do as a result. If the hotel is going to use Expedia to drive demand, they should honor reservations made. Shameful business practice.

We waited a very long time to check in. There were two people working at the desk. When a spot opened, I stepped forward and Chelsea said “I’ll be with you in a minute.” But it was clear from her abrasive tone that she was upset that I stepped up to the counter. A line formed behind us. She was shuffling through papers. It seemed like work that could have been done later when there was not a line of people trying to check in, but I honestly wouldn’t have minded if she had been kind. It seemed like she was intentionally ignoring me. She kept shaking her head and muttering under her breath. A couple came in to say that they were supposed to have a water view room, and she told them that there wasn’t one available. They tried to show her the booking in their email, and she snapped at them “I don’t know what you want me to tell you. I am looking at my system right now, and there are no other rooms! If you want to get in line, I can try to help you but there are other people ahead of you.” Her tone was hostile. The gentleman working the counter was eventually able to check us in, and he was very nice. It was just very frustrating because we had a dinner reservation and very little time to get ready. We waited a very long time to check in, which seemed unnecessary, and in addition to that, Chelsea was incredibly rude and hostile. I paid quite a lot for 2 rooms, and was very disappointed with that experience. All of that said, the rooms were clean and the view was beautiful.

The view from our room was incredible. We did not get a clean towel or any trash emptied. While we were checking in we hear they were short handed and had noone to do any kind pf room cleaning. Not what you want to hear when your paying over $500 a night.

During check in, the from desk staff was very rude with our 3rd party booking (Expedia/Hotels.com). Same person was also arguing with another guest with Expedia booking. They dont entertain towel requests or room cleaning. Had to spend a lot of time making multiple requests for room cleaning for 3 days (5 times). My card was charged twice for incidentals and had to get the front desk to revert those charges too. Overall, spent lot of time dealing with rude staff at front desk. Stay away from this propertry

The staff here were excellent and very accommodating. The best that I've experienced at a hotel in a long time. The only reason that I didn't give them 5 stars is that when I reserved the room, I had asked for a top floor room, and the person that confirmed this didn't follow through on it. When I checked in, the excellent clerk that helped me upgraded me to a better room on the top floor when she realized that there were no longer any rooms on the top floor in the room class that I had reserved.

Great place, close to waterfront, parks, restaurants. We stayed overnight on our way to catch the ferry to Victoria, which was just minuets away. Great location, nice room, we had an ocean view which was very pleasant and there is a walking path along the coast line right behind the hotel. Would stay again

I had a room facing the water, and it was beautiful. The hotel is right off the Olympic Discovery Trail and is within walking distance of several great restaurants. The bed was also incredibly comfortable.

Red Lion Inn at Port Angeles Harbor is lovely. The room was quiet and comfortable with a great balcony. The AC/heater had not was a little noisy and somewhat fussy. We liked the excellent view of harbor, close proximity to several dining options, the Discovery Trail, and Downtown.

There was a hostess at 48 North their on site restaurant who didn’t offer bar seating and sad no tables available to us ( family of 3with my 42 year old daughter and my husband). We wanted a drink and dinner and there was room at the bar. She said what to make your food to go? Shocked we assumed she didn’t want us o we agreed to leave with take out food & no drinks! She was rude to us and assumed something about us! We didn’t argue and left that restaurant!

First floor toilet had no "flush power" and I had to get a plumber's friend to assist it...Coffee in lobby had only flavored cream--blech...To get to fitness room you had to enter through pool area. Bizarre.

The Red Lion was great. Rooms are freshly remodeled. Very clean and the view was great. There is a restaurant at the property. Good food and great service. There was a live singer playing his songs and doing song requests as well. Definitely would stay again.

This property is GROSSLY OVERPRICED for what you get. I paid a premium to stay here thinking they had a nice bar on the waterfront to relax in after a long day of driving. The bar was very empty, had 10-12 people. Yet, my wife and I were NOT ALLOWED to go in since they were "short of staff." I'm 71 years old and have never been denied to go into a bar since I was 18. What is going on here? Poorly managed staff and organization. I could have saved over $100 a night staying elsewhere which would have included a free breakfast. Nothing free here other than nice views. Go elsewhere!

The view is phenomenal hands down. The location is so convenient for dining, shopping and entertainment. The property is under renovation and incomplete which makes you question the price per night in regards to an appealing stay. The rooms are not soundproof as we could hear everything from the hallway and the room next door. The shower in our room did not work but we were provided a reasonable discount for that malfunction. The food at 48 North was ver tasty and well priced.

The in room heater fan was quite loud, even on low. I had to turn off the entire unit. There was no breakfast included. If you don't get a waterside view room , I would stay somewhere else.
