Hotel Irma

We stayed at Hotel Irma for a week. Can’t recommend it highly enough — its location overlooking the stunning bay, its beautiful pools, its attentive and lovely staff. Clean, comfortable, welcoming. Well situated for ready access to all Zihua’s gorgeous beaches, as well as to local shopping.

Clean room, friendly staff, clean pools.

Hotel Irma was friendly and accommodating . We started on the 6th floor, view was AMAZING! It should be noted that there is no elevator, therefore a lot of stairs! Room 603 had a constant pump kicking on an off, so we requested a room change and they obliged right away and went to the 3rd floor. Pools are amazing and a necessity. Food at this place was amazing. Try the Avocado/tuna dish. Lots of decks with lounge chairs for quiet areas, if you just want to stare at the view or read a book. Staff = amazing. Margarita's = amazing. Happy Hour 12-2pm & 5-7pm. Perfect meal time sipping :) Owner was onsite and very hands on and concerned about her guests and staff, nice to see that! Taxis usually always parked outside to get you up and down the hill to town, if you're unable to climb it. Beaches are clean and water was swimmable. Would definitely stay here again!

Loved the view, the pool area, Spa was wonderful. Room was a bit sparse, but, ok. The friendliest staff ever! Cristo and Daniel were the best waiter and bartenders ever!

The beds were comfortable, and the city views were stunning. However, the burger we ordered was disappointing, and the pools and property looked better on the photos. While I enjoyed the infinity pool, the second pool was overcrowded with kids.

Located on a steep hill. If you have any kind of disability this is not the place for you. No elevator and there are 6 floors. No fridge in the room. Pool chair cushions are super dirty. Having said all that we enjoyed our stay because the staff is awesome and it’s Zihuat which is amazing! If you are capable of walking it is located only about 10 minutes away from the excitement. Cabs are cheap though.

Excellent staff and views, Close to town with a beach boardwalk all the way in. One issue some may have is stairs, there is no elevator and there are plenty of stairs and a steep grade up the hill coming from town. If these are an issue book somewhere else or practice on some stairs at home a few months before your trip.

Restaurant inside the hotel was good and not expensive. Pool area was awesome an the view was perfect.

Always spotless. Super friendly staff & two nice swimming pools. The BEST view of the bay. No elevator and the famous “heart attack hill” makes it a bit of a challenge walking but worth the effort.

This hotel is disgusting. Very outdated property. The property is in desperate need of renovation and repairs. Bathroom was very dirty. The bathroom mirror was broken. The door to the room was a patio door that had a horrible lock, it wasn’t secure at all. TV was horrible.

Check in was excellent. We had great help getting our bags to our room. The room itself was comfortable and very clean. Beds were perfect. The hotel itself, though older, is beautiful and interesting artwork was everywhere. The only downside was the restaurant. We told our waiter that we didn't have a lot of time as we needed tget to the airport. He seemed to understand, but we waited for everything. Just to get a menu took 10 minutes. My husband had to leave the table 3 times to get a menu, find the waiter to order and request an coffee refill. The food was good, but not an enjoyable experience.

Love the vintage vibe. Rooms are spotlessly clean, great AC and water pressure.

We had to leave earlier than expected because of a family issue. The hotel refused any sort of compensation and took our full payment with no refund. The housekeeping was excellent but couldn’t hide the horrendous smell in the drains.

Hotel was clean, close to beach, walkable to restaurants. Easy access to bus or cabs. Great views.

My room was good. Clean. Freshened every day. Staff was excellent.

Simple property and not fancy. Rooms do not have refrigerators and it takes quite a while for hot water in showers. The staff is wonderful and the property is well maintained. The pools are very nice. It’s a nice quiet property with beautiful views of Zihuatanejo Bay.

Staff was great. Breakfast was good and the infinite pool was awesome. Steep climb up but was ok. Would be nice to have a blanket on the beds as you need the ac on but just a sheet was a bit cold. Hars to get a good balance. Great place.

The property is what I had expected. The glass door to our room was difficult to lock and unlock.

There’s no fridge in the room. Really miss that. No elevator. We were on 6 th floor so a week of that and the hill or stairs to leave the building are only for people in good condition which we fortunately were. The staff were friendly and the pools were lovely and clean. The view was marvellous.

Convenient location, beautiful view from the restaurant & pool area. Most staff very friendly & helpful. Our room was dated, no fridge, saloon door for a bathroom door, a/c not working great. No key for safe after being charged a deposit. TV initially not working, no instructions, guy finally came & got it working. Maid used our outside deck area as a dump for her mops & garbage bags from surrounding rooms. There is no ice machine at hotel. Too many rules making it uncomfortable. When checking out, was told to go back to room, get our pool towels & turn in to office! Ridiculous!! Wouldn’t stay here again.

air conditioning and Wifi needs updating in room 20, Otherwise this is a precious old property that is well cared for comfortable and in an excellent location for enjoingMadera Beach, La Ropa Beach and exploring downtown.

The room I had would be fine for basic accommodation or as a filler night. Dark rooms with limited ceiling or wall light, thin bed sheets with no blanket. No storage for anything, clothes or side table. Safe, beautiful view and close to other resorts along La Ropa!

Amazing view of Zihuatanejo bay. Beautiful property. Short walk into town. Staff was excellent. Would have liked a refrigerator in the room. Local food was so amazing we always had leftovers. Maybe a shower door or curtain so we didn't flood the floor so much. Excellent over all.

The hotel is extremely outdated. The front desk check in experience was extremely uncomfortable. The gentleman at the front desk refused to allow us to check in unless we gave him access to my personal email hotel confirmation. We had already paid and provided him with state issued ID's. He said it was hotel policy and was unreasonably rude. I explained that the email confirmation belonged to me and I could read him the confirmation numbers. He refused to acknowledge my confidentiality concerns. While hotel Irma is in a warm climate hot water is still necessary to shower comfortably. Unfortunately the hotel didn't have enough hot water or water pressure in the shower. The bed frames and headboard are made out of concrete and dangerous if you miss your pillow while laying down. The air-conditioning units are old and non-efficient unable to maintain the room cool. The tv's are difficult to watch. They require a three step different buttons and function to get them to work. Not enough pool towels for guests. Access to a taxi was a pain and inconvenient. The front desk staff had difficulty getting taxi's to come to the hotel on a timely fashion. The pool restaurant staff was quick to take food drink orders, however, delivering food and getting the check was slow and unnecessarily delayed. We rented three rooms and had hopes for a better experience from staff to facilities. We enjoyed the cleanliness but that's about it. I don't recommend to anyone and will never return.

Our experience checking in was very bad. We had to wait until the clerks had time to check our Expedia reservation with Mexico City. And they proceeded to attend every other person checking in first, making us wait about 30 minutes before they could check and sure enough find it. Very disappointing. It just left a bad taste from the beginning. They're are many cute hotels all around... I'd try one of those next time.

We stayed for one night. We arrived a few hours early but they were great about storing our luggage while we went to town and had a late breakfast. We came back in time for happy hour. Our room was great with a beautiful view of the ocean. The pool was clean and there was plenty of seating. The hotel is walking distance to downtown/pier area where there are lots of great restaurants to choose. The service at this hotel was EXCELLENT!!! Definitely recommend

The hotel was great overall. We were upgraded to a beach view room at no extra charge upon our arrival. The room was clean and had a working ice cold A/C unit to beat the humid heat. The staff were really friendly and greeted us every time they saw us.

Hotel was fine, but the waiters by the pool ignored me, they never asked if I would like a drink but they were asking other guests I found them to be rude maybe because I’m not Mexican but all guests should be treated equally. I think management should train their staff to be more hospitable.

The people who work at this hotel were nothing less then fabulous 👌 The manager was always hands on greeting everyone throughout the day every day. I will definitely come back. They are now family.

Irma is located beatiful, with magnificent view over the Zihuatanejo bay. The pool area is great too. The service are not good; check-in was a drag. The english language was a Challenge at reception. We prepaid for 5 people, only showed up 4, still they wanted us two pay xtra because the child was 13 and for them an adult. We wrote the age before we paid…. In the end, they understood, that we had already paid for 4 adult in advance… During the stay, the reception seemed indifferent when we got back to the hotel, often not even looking up, at times not there. Mandatory to wear pink armbands during the stay, hate it. Loooong waiting time at breakfast, which we paid for. Not enough service around the pool. We had, previous to our 6 days at Irma, spend 6 days in a hotel less than half the Price of Irma, also in Zihuatanejo, their service was easily twice as good ! So were their attention towards their guests ! Our opinion is, that Irma lives from their location, not their hotel skills.

It is in the heart of Playa Madera. A walk off property for access to the beach and boardwalk to coffe shops, restaurants, massage , tourist points of interest.

Great location, within walking distance to many restaurants, centro and playa La Ropa. Enjoyed the happy hour every day and very friendly and hospitable staff. I would definitely come back again.

You must be in shape. Many hills and stairs to negotiate to go anywhere.

The hotel is so close to the centre of town you can walk - along a gorgeous sea wall. Close to restaurants - all walkable. The best part of this hotel is the staff. They are amazing and you feel like family by the time you leave. We will absolutely return - many times!!

Absolutely nightmare. Restaurant and bar was closed first 3 days of our stay . No ice available on property for drinks . WIFI WAS SPOTY AND WORKED 20 % percent of the time . NO HOT WATER FOR HALF OUR STAY . THE NIGHT CLERK AND SECURITY GUARD BOTH WERE ASLEEP AT NIGHT YOUNG MAN (securiy guard) WAS SLEEPING ON COUCH in lobby with BLANKET LIKE HE WAS Home. PITCH BLACK DARK AT FRONY DESK AND WHOLE FIRST FLOOR, NOT SAFE … Pita the hotel manger acted like she didn’t know about WiFi and hot water problems . Funny how multiple reviews have same complaints. We were offered a fee breakfast for our troubles, we spent double that hot spotting WiFi on on our phones, insulated my intelligence with her sales techniques.trying to get us to rebook. NO THANK YOU

Beautiful views. Staff is excellent. Food was average. Had shrimp and beef kebabs on bbq night, the beef was too tough to chewy. The property manager substituted chicken breast that was cut too thin, tough and dry. I was not offered any compensation. The food was my only complaint. Plenty of other places to eat.

The staff is very friendly, always ready to assist, the restaurant is clean, good prices, and food is delicious. Looking forward to return next fall. 👍😊

El hotel es bonito, sencillo pero con todas las comodidades necesarias , la alberca muy agradable para los días de mucho calor El café en particular no me gustó estaba muy amargo Los precios de comida del restaurante son un poco elevados para lo que se ofrece.

Pools are nice food is good. I had to do some work while travelling wifi in the rooms is basically non existent have to go down to the pool or lobby for wifi
