Hampton Inn & Suites Detroit/Sterling Heights

Room wasn't ready for over 45 minutes after check in time. Only had 1 working elevator. The pool was closed. The breakfast was unbeatable. Overall i would not stay here again. Ive stayed at Hampton inns before and this one by far is the worst

Pool was closed and we were not informed before booking. One of the elevators was broken and the one that was running sounded like it is on its last leg. Went to watch tv after returning from a concert and the tv remote would not work. Girl came up to help, couldn’t figure it out. said someone would come back in a few minutes and nobody ever did. Some of the wallpaper was peeling up and we saw what looked like black mold under it. Do not recommend.

I wish the pool opened earlier and stayed open later.

We were out of power so booked because of the special deal and others were already booked up. We arrived at 6pm and after settling in we got ready to go to pool. When we got to pool found out it closes at 8pm. It was 805 so no swimming. This is the first time ever at a hotel where pool closed before 10pm and didnt open until 10 am. We stay at hotels often and this was a first. Our bathtub had rust marks that looked like poop stains, the bathroom door and main door were very outdated. The hotel needs some upgrades. The staff did good considering the power outages and how busy they were. Props to all the staff!! Stayed somewhere else next day and pool was open from 7 am to 11pm.

Outdated and not well maintained hotel. Probably the one of the worst Hampton Inn I’ve stayed so far.

The facilities are fine. We asked to have our room changed as the black out curtain was shredded. We were promptly and courteously moved. The 2nd room was fine. Breakfast was great lits of options. The only thing we were disappointed in was the pool. It was very cloudy, you could not see the bottom. Also, it was cold. We picked this hotwl for the pool and didn't get to use it. Very sad.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Check-in was simple and efficient. Lobby and common areas were clean, as was my room. The fitness center was clean and functional, as well as bigger than at most chain hotels I've stayed with. Ther3 was an attendant for the free breakfast and it was better than most, featuring many options beyond cold cereal and toast or bagels. I would definitley staye here again.

Pool was so dirty no pool towels Ac did not work in our room the whole time we was there from Saturday to Monday one of the beds was broke we ask to speak to a manager the man at the desk said they don’t come till Monday morning never ever will I come back here very rude and sooooooooo unsatisfied!!!!

The pool area was very busy, loud and the water was scummy. The elevators were broken. The room smelled very strongly of scented products. In the morning many of the breakfast items were out or gone.

Everything broken, dried puke on bed skirts. Mystery stains everywhere. Door looked like it was kicked down. Won’t ever stay at that location again. Manager was very nice, just needs a serious remodel and a cleaning crew with eyes.

I checked into the room and it smelled terrible. Like the previous tenant had a bad case of BO something terrible and there wasn’t enough ventilation to clear out that smell. There is almost no outside ventilation with the AC system and the bathroom fan did not work. The carpet felt sticky like too many sodas had been spilled on it and never cleaned. There was a homeless man living in one of the stairwells. And the breakfast was terrible. The eggs tasted like reconstituted powdered scrambled eggs. The potatoes were over cooked, dry and over spiced. The oatmeal was soggy and also overcooked. The coffee wasn’t bad. They had fruit, which the fruit salad was good. I ended up just eating bagels, cereal and fruit salad. The sheets and towels were clean at least. Though the comforters smelled bad. I won’t be staying in this hotel again. It’s really gone downhill.

Found nail clippings on the floor. Shower had obvious mold showing. Showing some wear and tear. Breakfast was pretty good!

Toilet had not been cleaned; cockroach in refrigerator; queen size sheet on king size bed, shower soap dispenser ripped off wall, room sized for two king beds, but only one present leaving odd open space. Very tired property. Good breakfast buffet and very personable and helpful cook/attendant.

The curtains do not close, it was so bright in the room even at night. Shower had mold.

We had bed bugs in our bed with our 4 month old son!!!!!

There were bed bugs which were reported to the hotel staff. They changed the room but it seems like a road side inn with cheapest rate. Terrible condition.

Disgusting rooms and drinking fountians. Beds are not queen as u pay for queens. Rooms smelled so bad. Forgot to take pic but there is mold in the bathroom in room 324.

Room size was good. Bathroom was bad. Mold in the toilet. Mold in the shower. Floor looked dirty. Room reeked of marijuana.

Clean, larger than average room.

Cigar butts in stairwell- closet door that was a make shift door has loose hinges and door comes off - night stand busted and sitting on the floor- cleaning plastic gloves left in the bathroom on the counter. Outlets in the lamps bedside don’t work nor the outlets in the wall next to couch

Older hotel. King rooms very big however, the mattress was terrible :( Worst sleep ever! My husband and I gravitated to the centre of the bed as there was a huge indented in the middle. The mattress NEEDS to be replaced. The toilet bowl leaked from the bottom. There was no regular coffee for the coffee machines in the room. I asked 2 housekeepers and the both indicated that there was only decafe.

Generally comfortable but needs maintenance work. The light in my entrance hallway flickered constantly, the thermostat on the wall did not work, the tub had rust stains. I tried to call the first night right after checking in to let them know about the maintenance issues (light and thermostat), but no one answered the phone (let it ring for a very long time). After that I was too busy to chase hotel staff. Noise between floors transfers very easily, someone was running and walking noisily above my room that was a little surprising to hear so clearly (it stopped by 10, though). The desk chair in my room had seen better days, sat too low and could not raise it to appropriate desk height.

Thermostat is not working. Room temperature was too warm for good rest.

Pros: The beds were comfortable, the front desk staff were professional and friendly, the breakfast was convenient and served warm. Cons: The coffee was always lukewarm in urns off to the side of the lobby. The toilet seat was loose and the curtains were torn, the desk chair was stained and filthy and the small side table between the beds was crooked, falling away from the wall. The trash by the elevator was overflowing for two days before I said something to the front desk and housekeeping. I would have asked to change rooms but I felt they were all probably in some sort of disrepair, I was in town for a short visit. The picture of the room is not at all like the room I was put in. The sofa would have been nice.

Our room had a king bed a desk built into the wall unit for the tv and mini fridge and coffee maker. No drawers for clothes. And there was a space between the bed and the wall that was probably 8 ft wide. No furniture! A square table was shoved in corner that was missing a caster so it was wobbly. I asked the front desk about maybe a chair or something he said it was a standard room not authorized for chair! There is a shelf in the bathroom to hold the towels, it is a hazard! We almost poked our heads with the sharp corners. This was the worst Hampton inn we’ve stayed in.

Room smelled horribly of cigarettes. They changed our room and gave us a different one, but then there was no couch or sitting area in the room that we got

The housekeeping staff was very rude they were outside of my door vacuuming at 9:30 am and then just opened my door without knocking while I was in the bathroom at 11:30 am to see if I was checking out and that was after one other person knocked at the door at 11:28 am had already came to see if he could come and clean the room all along check out is at 12 noon I will not recommended this hotel nor will I return to this hotel I paid too much money to feel like I was being put out my Husband and I were very uncomfortable.

Hotel could not find my reservation from expedia and i had to pay for my room- and also paid through expedia - paing approx $350 for a 150$ room

The hotel was clean, affordable, and offered a great breakfast. The only nit was when the toilet got clogged and , instead of sending someone to fix it, they had my son go to the front desk to get a plunger to fix it himself.

Reserved room a week prior to stay, arrived at 3:30 just past the 3:00 check in and room was not ready? Was told it would be a half hour until room would be ready. Went to get a bite to eat, came back an hour later and the room was not ready?? The front desk could not tell us at 5:00 when a room that was reserved would be ready. Cancelled room, don’t waste your time booking this hotel, your room may not be ready… ever.

We were in town for a funeral. We had a very loud family above us. The staff upgraded our room and put us in a quiet corner. The rest of our stay was wonderful. Breakfast was delicious.

When my friends and I went to check-in for our stay, after booking over a week and a half in advance of when we would be there, the hotel had my booking but had overbooked the rooms and we did not have a room. Nothing in the vicinity had any vacancy either. We ended up over 2 hours out of our way before finding anything else. As of right now the hotel has not reimbursed me since I "had a non-refundable room." I do not recommend booking this hotel and especially not through hotels.com.

The rooms, and the hotel in general, are old, but that’s fine with me. My main concern was the dirty bed sheets and the lack of proper customer service from the front desk staff. They clearly need more training to ensure guest satisfaction. I called the front desk person “ Iqbal”to request extra towels, and instead of sending them to my room, I was told to come and pick them up myself which I didn’t mind too much at first. However, I was shocked to find a large stain on my bed sheet. When I brought it to the front desk, the staff member” Iqbal”, reacted with little to no concern. I told Iqbal it is an advice to you as a loyal customer is to focus on cleanliness if you want your guests to leave satisfied. People pay to enjoy their short stay here, His response was simply, “You need to talk to my manager”, So, that’s what I’m doing now, leaving this review in the hope that the higher manager will read it and try to improve the quality of the service On top of that, they made copies of my driver’s license and my credit card, which I find strange and concerning, but I think that was because their system was down. Breakfast was below my expectation. Thank you.

The hotel is close to Michigan Lottery amphitheater. The crew at the front desk are excellent!

The employees were great. I would stay again. Really didn't spend much time at hotel daughter got married. No complaints. Very close to stores and restaurants

Ideal location during our travels through the area.

Stayed here after a concert at Freedom Hill. Property was clean and well lit when we arrived at 11 pm. Night desk staff was helpful and courteous. The room was large, clean, quiet, and well appointed. Really like the new system of using your phone as the key card.

We loved the breakfast and the proximity to Michigan Lottery Ampitheatre. Checkout guy was amazingly friendly as well :)

There was lots of grassy area for me dogs to go and doggy poop bags and can for our use.

It's very close to concert venue at Freedom Park and nice and quiet rooms.

This was the perfect venue for an overnight stay after a concert at Michigan Lottery Amphitheater. Great amenities nearby. The fixtures, etc in the room were a little run down. Maybe time for a coat of paint and some shining up?

the lady work in Tuesday and Thursday in kitchen she is so mean one the breakfast never refill special the tost, bread, fruit the pool very cold water and dirty the people going in with socks and clothing no one watch them the room okay. not bad

Breakfast wasn’t as good as usual for a Hampton Inn. No fresh fruit except a few apples. Hard boiled eggs were all gone by 9:15. Only one choice of cold cereal. Oatmeal was barely cooked.

The staff were great! Any issue we had was promptly taken care of. Mitchell is always very pleasant and helpful. Nadia keeps a wonder breakfast area. We will be staying again!

Size of my room was good, but bathroom drain would not stay open and bedside outlet was loose, difficulty changing phone. Hair in the food.

It is becoming a very out dated property , there is newer hotels in the area now. House keeping only comes on three or more nights stay which they might want to inform guests. breakfast is the same everyday. They offer coffee and tea in the lobby but nobody to take care if it is full or empty , always cold. Updated the bathroom but left a 20 year old tub? Front staff makes you feel like you are bothering them when you have questions or concerns.

The continental breakfast was amazing.
