The hotel itself was lovely. Great room which was really comfortable. The hotel staff were great too and extremely helpful and polite. The big downside for us was the spa/pool. We chose this hotel specifically because it had a pool. However when we tried to go for a swim after dinner we were declined entry because my daughter is 13. We were told that children are only allowed to swim between the hours of 8:30-9:30am and 4-5 pm. I can understand a need for restricting pool access for small children but I cannot understand why a sensible 13 yr old swimming with her Mum would be sent away feeling very upset. Please look into this and be more flexible.

Perfect 2 night stay for my wife's 40th birthday surprise. The room and hotel overall were spotless. The only negative we had was that the rooftop Spa is not included in the price and is an extra £35pp (discounted from the regular price of £90pp) for a 3hr slot only which was a little disappointing when it is advertised as part of the hotel experience. We did add this on though and the spa is very good and worth the discounted price but definitely not the full £90pp for 3hrs access. Breakfast is highly recommended great selection and quality.

Had a great stay and the room was great with an amazing bed. Shower was great and bathrobes and slippers always a nice touch. Pool was okay, Very disappointed that it was an extra £70 for my wife and I to use the thermal pool. With the cost of the room I'd expect it to be free or at least cheaper than £70 per couple.

We enjoyed our stay at the Sheraton and everything met our expectations. Given the price of the room, I was a little surprised that there was an additional charge for using the outside pool area, something which is unclear at booking and was disappointing. Parking on site was limited so make sure you get there in plenty time. The breakfast was great and room very comfortable but nothing more than you would expect from a Sheraton hotel.

We love this hotel but the increased prices makes it a bit harder to justify the yearly trip. The big reason we go is for the deluxe room and the spa, previously as a guest it was £25pp to access the full spa but has increased to £35pp for 3 hours. When you are paying £330 for a room I think the additional £70 is a bit steep. This is overall an additional £100 we payed out on this visit compared to previous visit. The spa is brilliant and one of the best we have been to but think a better price when staying in the hotel would be better. The hotel is first class. The service is second to none. There is really nothing to fault about this hotel apart from the spa price. It is brilliantly located, walking distance from Princess Street and loads of bars restaurants whatever you need its not far. We love this hotel and if you are willing to splurge a bit then I highly recommend it.

We really enjoyed our stay. Ideal place as bus stops right outside. The room was clean and tidy. We had a twin bedded room. The beds were very comfortable and the hotel quiet. Only one problem, the shower was very slippery! The staff were pleasant and helpful. The club lounge was fantastic, possibly the best I have been to. Staff great, food and drinks top class. As the swimming pool was unavailable I booked the hydro at a discounted price. I really enjoyed relaxing in the rooftop hydro. I also went into the other heated rooms then finished in the relaxation room.

Hotel is lovely.Staff are lovely.House keeping rubbish. Food in fridge from previous guest and socks still on the bathroom floor. Room not available till 4pm although the reception staff have really good service skills.Would I stay again.Probably not as not really acceptable for a 5 star hotel .

Beautiful location with a stunning view of Edinburgh Castle. My only complaint is I did pay for the upgraded view, only to arrive to find a tent for the “Ladyboys of Bangkok” running show as my view just below the castle. just a big pink and black, ugly thing, obscuring what would’ve been a beautiful view. I wish somebody would have mentioned that to me and I wouldn’t have paid for the upgraded view. That said, incredibly helpful and Service oriented staff. Really A+ on the arrival experience. Really appreciated the lounge and atmosphere, right in the city center. Easy access to so much.

It was ok but not as good as I would have expected. Air con stopped working in the last night (fault code) so was very stuffy and could not sleep. No room service after 11 pm so could not get anything after the Ulster Halll show. Very odd bathroom door arrangement makes privacy difficult.

This is an expensive Hotel at about £500 per night. I booked a deluxe room with "Castle Views". The advertised picture of this room shows 3 windows looking out on the view. It is clever photography using a mirror to make the room look larger with better views. Our room had just one window!! At £500 pernight you would expect more than 1 small tube of moisturiser in the bathroom and more than 1 bath towel each per day plus a hand towel. The buffet breakfast was fair except no granulated sugar for cereals...I was told to use sugar cubes!! The fried bacon I was told would not be replaced until all the slices (just fat remaining) had been used. Not something one would expect at this price.

Lovely stay in a club room but would have liked a better view , there was something making a humming noise outside which kept us awake in the last night , would like water to be put in the minibar so chilled on arrival , also a heated towel rail , also no water cups at the spa , overall very good , would like the option of eggs Benedict at breakfast or fried egg/ omelette . Food was very good , also would like extra pillows in room

The property was excellent. Everything was well maintained and the staff was some of the most considerate and polite people i have been around. Site is conveniently located to local transportation and various dining and shopping establishments. I will recommend it to others and i plan to return in the future.

Was fine. A very nice 4- 5 star International quality hotel in a great location. The only downside: we arrived 2 hours after check in time, and the room still wasnt ready. Though they put is in the lounge with FOC drinks, it was still a further 2 hours before it was ready. Reason given: the hotel was overbooked. Sorry but i dont regard that as acceptable. That is an organisational issue on the hotels' part and if circumstances of our trip had been different, could have been a real problem.

Mistakenly gave me a room with someone else in it already. Staff tried to make up with free breakfast but didn’t make up for the stress of disturbing someone. Also had a fire evacuation at midnight in the rain, no reason given, and then false alarm again 6 AM with Alarm for 1 mins. Worst stay in a while.

Ask for an early check-in, weeks ahead of time for a suite. We arrived from an international flight very tired, the front desk was very adamant about a 3:00 pm check, however, they said our room was vacated early, the staff was into a power trip over Americans, very incenstive and childish. Hotel was very nice, breakfast was fair, bar excellent.

When checking in to the hotel, the receptionist could not find my booking. I showed them the Expedia confirmation - but apparently they needed the hotel confirmation number which was not provided by Expedia. They asked for photo-ID, and still could not find the booking. Finally it was clear that despite clearly saying my name, and showing my photo id with my name on it, the receptionist was looking up the name incorrectly. My name is O'Donovan and the receptionist was looking up Donovan. I been asked for my surname, and replied O'Donovan, I was asked for my photo-id and it shows O'Donovan, I was asked for my first name , Andy. And still the receptionist was looking up Donovan - my first name does not begin with an 'O'.. The probem with all of this is that I was made to feel like I had made a mistake, either I wasn't who I said I was, or the booking was incorrect. One the booking was found, by another receptionist, there was no apology. Again, the receptionist's mistake was my fault. I did not feel welcome - I felt distrusted.. When a hotel of this quality cannot find a booking, they should first be checkign the have understood the right name.... instead, I got unwelcome distrust. My response - there are many other hotels in Edinburgh.

The check-in process was terrific - Maria T helped me on AUG 12 when I got to the front desk at around 510pm...she was professional, helpful...assigned me a room on the 5th floor close to the bridge to the pool because I told her I want to swim laps. She represented the hotel very well. David who worked overnight helped with charging my fon, and Angus helped me with in-room light (which is confusing I must say). Alex who works @ the bar was terrific as were all the servers I encountered at the One Square Bar. Kudos to the management and the team for providing such a positive experience.

Lovely hotel, and room was spot on, but sadly when we popped into bar for lunch (on a weekday), even though the bar was not busy no one acknowledged we were there, so after 10 mins or so awaiting for table service we went to the bar next door to the hotel where we were greeted on arrival and the service was great (all bar one). A real shame as the hotel lost out on revenue for something so simple.

Loved the Club Level experience - enjoyed the Lounge for cocktails and canapés and for breakfast. The bistro was also nice. Convenient - about 20 minute walk to Edinburgh Castle. Edinburgh is a lovely city.

We had a great stay at the Sheraton! The location is excellent—close to everything and very convenient. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable, which made for a relaxing stay. We also really enjoyed the breakfast—great variety and quality. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our visit. Overall, a very pleasant experience. I would definitely stay here again!

Staff and rooms excellent, well situated. The breakfast team seem disorganised and quite slow. We were unaware that we were able to have breakfast in the club area until the last day and were put in an overflow room and all guests in there would be forgotten. When our food and drinks eventually came staff took them to several tables before finding us. In the buffet area there were no plates or bowls and nobody to ask, such a shame. Other than that a good stay.

We had a great stay at the Sheraton! The location is excellent—close to everything and very convenient. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable, which made for a relaxing stay. Nice clean room/hotel in a great location. Everything you could want from a city centre accommodation. Breakfast a bit pricey at £24. Ordered omelette which was lovely and hot and nicely presented but seemed very small. Also had a wrapped sausage muffin from the continental area which was cold and rock hard. Good selection of cereals, fruit and cold meats/cheese and breads.

Have stayed in this hotel twice. The time before was 18 years ago and the quality and experience was just as good this week as it was back then. The spa is lovely. The staff are even lovelier. Comfortable spacious and clean in an excellent location. Best hotel breakfast we’ve had.

Great hotel, well situated. Service in the bar and restaurant could be better. Food not great - we ate in the restaurant one night and had lunch in the bar the next day and I wasn’t too impressed with the food or the time we had to wait for it to be served. But it’s a very comfortable (and expensive!) hotel.

Although we only stayed for one night we were very impressed. We were made to feel very welcome on arrival and given lots of information about not only the hotel but services we may be interested in round about. The hotel room was beautiful and very clean. We were at a concert at the usher hall just across the road so very handy for us. Breakfast was amazing! Such a great choice. We will definitely be back and hope to try the spa next time too. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

The morning breakfast buffets hot food was cold and had an odd taste which I suspect caused me a bout of food poisoning which lasted for two days. Please monitor the temperature of the steam tables to ensure it is safely maintained.
