Amazing position opposite beach. Room with small balcony facing beach. Bed was good room was good had all necessary Enjoyed our stay Would have liked a room on a higher floor but was unavailable.Restaurants and coffee shops surround the hotel. Overall it was very affordable and amenities and room were great for the price. The view was wonderful. Staff were friendly and efficient. Only downfall was parking. We arrived mid afternoon. Checked in and went up to our room to freshen up. Had a neurologist appointment that afternoon and proceeded to drive across to other side of Townsville. Upon returning there was No car park available in the allocated area and None anywhere in a close proximity to Aquarius on the Beach … so we had to park quite a distance away ( down the street and around the corner ) and as there was No access to the back of the building as it had been locked at 2pm , we unfortunately had to carry our luggage etc to the venue the long way around …. Other than this little obstacle our stay was lovely Thankyou to Aquarius on the Beach.

I dont recommend staying here. It needs an overhaul and a deep clean. The beds are so hard that they hurt. The towels are falling apart. There was stains on the floors and walls. My hand towel had moisturiser or something stuck to it. When I got in the shower, gunk from under the door started flowing into the shower recess. I did report it at reception and via email - no repsonse or follow up. It looked liked it had never been wiped down. The tint on my balcony door was also cracked with fingers marks smudged all over the door. I don't think there is regular cleaning in place. The lights in the kitchen area also didn't work.

Drove 3 hours to stay the night after checking in we went to our room when we opened the door and went in there was a terrible smell. Mould in bathroom and ceiling vents dust everywhere. I went straight back down and spoke to receptionist he said he couldn’t leave the desk but would have someone have a look. After about half hour a housekeeping lady came in and had a look and said the smell was bad and appeared to be coming from the carpet and said the room had not been cleaned properly. So on my return to reception this time I spoke with a lady and she acknowledged the room was not clean and smelt badly Ana said sorry but she couldn’t move us to another room as was fully booked but offered us a refund or we stay in the room. We couldn’t stay in the room from smell so had to drive home for another 3hours. Very disappointed as was our 20th anniversary and had made plans for a great night. Room 206 definitely needs some work very rundown. Have stayed at Aquarius many times in past and have never had a problem. The reception lady is very rude.

Unit had everything that we needed. Needs a refresh & update. Mould on the roof in the bathroom. Shower curtain looked dirty along the bottom. Glass door to balcony did not latch back because of the air conditioner compressor, so the door would bang constantly in the wind. $3 to hire a pool towel was ridiculous. All staff were lovely. Check in and check out was very easy.

We were told on check-in that we might not get parking that night due to nearby markets . That turned out to be true. Yet, there are signs around the car park saying No Unauthorised Parking. Obviously this is not enforced. We had to give our car rego upon check-in and there were rules about one vehicle per room. Yet, the general public are allowed to park in the car park. The shower water pressure was Terrible. And the further we turned the tap towards hot water, the worse the pressure was. So it was either a hot dribbly shower or a cold shower.

Friendly, efficient staff at reception. Quick check in. Magnificent views. Parking at the rear of the building. Clean bedding with 2 pillow options. Our room was tired and in need of a refurb. Bathroom doors falling to bits at the bottom with outdated furnishings. Indian Myna birds are nesting in holes in the patio with poo droppings signalling their presence.

The staff were all very lovely, we arrived earlier the check in for the hotel just on the off chance the room may be ready, but mainly just to see if we could park the car and go for a walk and we were quite lucky that the room was actually ready and they let us check in 2 hours early

Property is in a great location, opposite the beach. Parking was a challenge as all the properties parks were full. Room was tidy and well maintained. Unfortunately the owner/managers customer service skills were lacking. Due to his position on 'we do NOT sign for deliveries' I was not able to receive crucial paperwork for my job despite being told on the phone that it was no problem.

When I went to check in there was one gentlemen was the desk on the phone, I stood at the reception for 10-15 minutes waiting for someone to come and greet me, I could see people in the back office, finally a young girl came out, took my license, gave me a bit of paper and a key and said there you go. I asked about room location, where I could park, she just said "out the back". Very poor greeting. Our room also ws dated and needed a bit of TLC or renovation.

While we loved the location, the amazing views, dining options etc, we did have issues with our fridge which was leaking water and our shower which had very low water pressure. We did report the fridge to the reception staff, however had no follow up. We ended up mopping up the leaking water ourselves and turning the fridge to it's highest setting. The shower looked lovely, but you could not get any water pressure from it. We ended up going to our neighbouring unit where a family member was staying for showers. The reception staff we spoke with (over Easter break) were disinterested. We asked for some advice about the shuttle bus to the airport and were met with no assistance. When asking how we could check out the next morning before opening hours, the girl just pointed to a box without explanation. This is a fabulous location and has a lot of potential, but does have some issues that might need looking at.

Option of breakfast would be nice. Overall enjoyed the stay. Did NOT enjoy the bad mannered Grumpy mangers attitude towards a foreign lady i was trying to help get into the hotel one evening and the box was locked were her key was held, it was clear as soon as he walked out he didn't want to be there snapped c at her what do want, told her she shoukd have booked directly not some third party etc t h en told her to do it right the next time fortunately she was communicating with me through a phone interpreter and probably didnt understand him anyway. If the hotel has issues with booking through ot h er sources then put a stop to it, absolute total ignorance

We love staying at The Aquarius. The upper floor rooms have an amazing view of the sea and Magnetic Island. The rooms are comfortable, have kitchenette facilities snd the property is a short walk to all of the bars and restaurants in town. This is our go to place for accommodation in Townsville. Very happy to recommend.
