Woodlands Hotel

We like to be able to dine with our dog & the shower for the dogs was brilliant the towels ; fleece provided in our room We have no dislikes this was our 4th visit we love the woodlands

Spent a lovely few days at the Woodlands hotel with a friend and our two dogs. Staff were very friendly and the rooms were nice. If you are looking to take a dog with you it's a great choice. They have a lovely big safe garden, with a gate leading straight out to the forest. There is a bar area where you are allowed to have your dog with you during breakfast and dinner and the food is very good. If you are not a doggy person, there is a separate dining room, so you don't have eat with dogs around if you don't want to. Some nice pub type restaurants just a few minutes drive away too if you are staying a few nights and want a choice of places to eat. Great choice for a New Forest break.

Lovely big room (family suite), comfy beds, friendly and helpful staff, great breakfast, plenty of parking. The negative would be that the room looked very tired. The carpet was really badly stained which is very off putting and the Lino in the bathroom also had suspect stains around the toilet. Both could do with replacing. Still enjoyed our 1 night stay though and it wouldn’t stop us returning.

Plenty of parking and a lovely setting. Breakfast was very poor and lacked selection (items not available when requested) and buffet was just a bowl of fruit, bread and cereals. Dinner was also poor. Room was a bit shabby and the bed mattress very uncomfortable with springs digging in. Lovely size room though and the public communal areas were beautiful

Woodlands Lodge is an old building, therefore "oldness" comes with it but if you're after a comfortable, quiet place to chill out peacefully, this place is wonderful. It's doggy friendly, hey even the comfy seats in the restaurant are reserved for dog owners only, but despite not being dog owners, we had the most wonderful relaxing stay here. It's slap bang in the middle of the New Forest, so walk out the back door & you're literally in it! Staff were so helpful & friendly, and so was the food (we had both breakfast & dinner one day & both were delicious). Would happily go back here anytime.

Food options were great. We had a lunch when we arrived which was fantastic. Breakfast was really good. The beds were very comfortable. If I was to pick fault with the room I would just put that there is no aircon and it was a very hot spell of weather however they do provide you with a fan which was greatly accepted. We had no issues with the internet however we didn’t spend much time on it as were there for a wedding.

Sadly this hotel needs a lot of work to be carried out to bring it up to a reasonable standard. It could be amazing in its location but sadly it isn’t. Overnight the heating wasn’t on & I can honestly say I have never felt so cold sleeping in a hotel ever, there was a small freestanding heater in the cupboard that could be used in addition to the central heating but this wasn’t safe to use overnight as one of the support feet was missing resulting in the hot heater having to rest on the electric cable & on the carpet, I was able to use this when awake but would not risk using this when trying to sleep as it’s a fire hazard. The heating in the bedroom came on at 7am but it took at least 30minutes for the radiator to get even slightly warm, the radiator in the bathroom only ever managed to get very slightly warm. The water pressure in the shower was very poor & the light over the shower cubicle wasn’t working so very dim light in the shower from the other lights in the bathroom. In the bedroom the bedside table had mirror fronted drawers which were badly cracked leaving very sharp edges which is dangerous if using these drawers. If this isn’t making for enough to put you off booking a stay here the rooms have little or no sound proofing so not only did I wake numerous times as I was so cold but woken by loud snoring coming from other rooms! The car park is large but is only a gravel/mud surface so be prepared to get muddy shoes & muddy wheels on your luggage.

Friendly staff, great location. Excellent food. Renovations taking place which I was not advised of before arrival until very late but stay still enjoyable.

Although I booked via a booking system i was disappointed that they never replied as to weather they have a lift or my request for ground floor room. My mum had a hell of a problem getting up and down srairs

Having seen the good reviews for this hotel it was a very disappointing stay. Hotel hard to find and arriving in the dark hardly any lights and car park muddy and pitted so not easy to even get in without breaking your neck. Outside appearance resembled neglected care home, though reception was pleasant and desk staff very friendly. Room ( apparently an upgrade!) was basic and grubby. TV socket coming off the wall and tv tiny. No light in bath room. Reported to reception told no maintenance available until following day so was given torch/ lamp that was not bright enough to use the bathroom to any great extent. Bed was hard with poor mattress. So far no contact or apology from hotel Manager. Will not return

Lovely location and surroundings. Staff were lovely and helpful and friendly. Breakfast was nice. Room was nice, newly decorated. Bed was too soft for me and gave me backache. Shower looked like it hadn't been cleaned but neither of us used it anyway.

Lovely staff, great room (very clean). Loved the little extras like the bottles of water.

Check in was quick and easy. My room was very clean, comfortable and quiet. Ate dinner both nights in the restaurant, very friendly and efficient staff and the food was very good. As a woman travelling alone I felt very safe here. I highly recommend this hotel and will stay again in the future.

Bathroom in room 19 could do with some TLC. Otherwise the hotel was great, clean and tidy. Location fantastic, plenty of parking, food in the restaurant was great quality

Room was nice but could do with a better clean mould by basket in shower and cobwebs by the light where the vanity desk. BUT it wouldn't stop me going back the staff were friendly and so was the owner overall for the price of the room, it was a good 2 night break.

Only stayed for one night but room was clean and comfortable and very good value for the price. Very convenient for a stay in the New Forest.

Lovely hotel. This room wasn’t as good as our previous stay there. Couldn’t get much sleep as the geese in the property opposite quacked all night. The bathroom floor needs a better clean. A lot of hair on the floor.

Stayed at hotel one night before a cruise the hotel looked lovely The reception and the welcome we got was great we were given our room key thats when it changed .the bedroon was at the end of the corridor near the laundry looked like a anex. the bedroom was clean but very small my wife caught herself ion the dadorail around the bedroom causinng a few hefty bruises We then went into the bathroom which was a disgrace. mould all overthe walls a cracked sink very shabby bits of old badly painted wood coveting missing trim after a 8 hour journey all we wanted was a nice hot shower but could not get in and out quick enough hoped this was going to be our go to t place to stay in Southampton but certainly not now avoid annex room

The positive, I loved the gardens and the forest access. The bar, breakfast and dinner areas were also beautiful and comfortable. As well, it was so nice having an in house restaurant. The food overall was delicious and high quality. On the negative, the room was beautiful, but the walls are paper thin, making it so we could cleary hear neighboring guests' conversations. Not to mention the creaky floors. So if you are a light sleeper or want to sleep in, probably will be challenging if not near impossible.

This was a budget room. We walked into a very cold room that felt as if it needed to be aired out. Overall quite clean but lots of DIY which was awful. Decoration poor. The worst part was the mattress, very hard edges, very peculiar. Could feel the springs at least that what we thought not exactly sure. It would have benefitted greatly from a topper would have made all the difference. Breakfast was not worth £15 each. So only had one morning of the two staying. When asked why radiators did not heat up was told that they are controlled centrally by staff. Staff were very pleasant.

Lovely old stately home right on the stunning new forest. Clean, freindly and comfy bed. Only thing that could improve is the shower pressure.

We had a very pleasant one night stay at Woodlands Lodge. The room was very spacious and comfortable. The restaurant was excellent, and we enjoyed a good breakfast with a variety of choices. We would definitely stay again.

Friendly helpful staff, hotel a little tired. No need for the plastic flowers in such beautiful surroundings and building. Unfortunately we found the bed really uncomfortable, other than that the room was lovely. Ducks quacking all night was interesting but cute at the same time. Breakfast was good.

Lovely room a little tired but comfortable. The walls are quite thin and water pipes loud when other rooms using the hot water. Overall good location, great garden and nice large bedroom room.

We had a good time here with 3 kids in the deluxe family room. Decor and bathroom fittings could be refreshed but the critical things were clean and plenty of space in the rooms and also garden for the kids to chill and play. We thought it was good value for money. Very close to paulton park and also within 30mins drive to most of the walks we wanted to do so all in all a good experience.

Great staff, allowed me to check in early. Needed opera glasses to watch the tv though. Not near large enough for the room.

Very professional, all the staff couldn't do enough for you nothing was to much trouble, the fan wasn't working in our room we mentioned it on our way out and on our return a new fan was in our room. Food was excellent, enjoyable very relaxing stay

Have stayed here twice now and we really like this hotel. The staff are excellent - friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Each time we’ve stayed in a deluxe double - the room is generously proportioned and well equipped. The breakfast is excellent - a very good selection to choose from and the hot items are cooked to order which we like. Location is excellent - right on the edge of the New Forest, and we were delighted to see the horses snuffling around the grass in the overflow car park one evening! The area is great for walks and lots of lovely places are within easy reach. We’ve tended to do the short drive into Lyndhurst for our evening meal where there are a host of nice restaurants but like the convenience of knowing the hotel does food too if we didn’t want to go out. For reference, the property is old, and it’s in the country, so it’s not perfect (some bits could do with a bit of a dust/refresh). That doesn’t bother us as evidenced by the fact we’re about to make another booking and the positives ultimately win out but thought it best to make this clear.

Everything was spot on and what a setting! Lovely staff & super helpful. 100% recommend a stay. We definitely stay again. Also helped us upgrade when we needed the assistance & lent us a phone charger for the duration. Recommended us places to visit as well. Great time.

2nd visit and would stay again..Both times reception staff were excellent and wrlcoming.

Everything was outstanding, so no complaint

We booked this property very last minute whilst stranded nearby and we are so glad we did. As soon as we walked in the staff made us feel at home. The lady at the reception, Tilly, went above and beyond to ensure we had the perfect stay. We had forgotten some essentials with it being an unexpected booking and Tilly brought us what we needed from home the very next morning. It was so kind and thoughtful. We enjoyed time in the garden and the location was fantastic. Very close to the forest and also to Peppa Pig World for those with young children. We will be back!

The hotel suits its rustic, natural setting. It has a laid back and relaxing vibe that we really appreciated.

Our stay was perfect! We were three adults who had two rooms for our two-night stay following a cruise. We enjoyed the beautiful grounds, well-appointed rooms, and excellent food and service. The hotel is close to the cruise port and a short drive to many interesting places including the famous Beaulieu Car Museum.

We use this hotel when we arr in Hampshire, it's quite central and easy toget to.

Fine dining that wasn’t. Food was mediocre. No draught ales.

Room was satisfactory. Main problem was lack of chef, hopefully only temporary. Only had one meal, 2 x burgers, which took nearly 50 minutes to arrive. We didn't risk breakfast as the local steam fair wanted us in before 0900 and we couldn't afford a similar delay. Really good otherwise so would use next time.

Lovely comfortable room, but breakfast was awful and expensive.

Chose this hotel because of gluten free options on example menu online.very disappointed to be told at evening meal time that the menu had changed and only a few items were gluten free. My wife is a coeliac and would have a severe reaction if eating any items with gluten.small tv in bedroom didn't work,recetionist tried changing batteries in remote,still not working.only 2 bulbs out of 6 working on main lights in bedroom told maintenance does not work at weekends

Fantastic stay. Friendly staff, comfortable room, didn't skimp on tea and coffee provisions. Delicious dinner and breakfast. Lovely walk into the forest through the hotel garden Staff responded quickly to any of my needs. I wouldn't usually go back to a hotel I've been to before but would 100% stay here again.
