Hotel Ódinsvé

Nice location near the center of Reykjavik. Plenty of dining, coffee, shopping nearby. Our room, and especially bathroom, were tiny, though that doesn't appear to be the case with all rooms (we had a second room, same room type, and theirs was even a little roomier). Our only wish really was that there was a temporary parking spot in front to unload. Parking nearby is pure luck and we had didn't have it, so we just pulled up with our flashers on while we unloaded. We parked overnight at the church. Not really different from any other hotel in the area from what I can tell.

Excellent. The location is perfect. It is off to the side in a quiet straight but close to everything. Safe and nice area. The hotel itself is basic with everything you need and nothing more. Value for cost was good. The attached restaurant named Snaps was very good. Parking is on street using the parka app and I had no problem finding a space both all three times I parked. If no luck then it’s free parking at the national church five minutes away. I will stay here again.

The facility is nice. The bathroom was on the smaller side. Shower is tight. Toilet area is tight. The room was on the hot side and they have no A/C. If you want to stay cool you have to keep the window open. There is an outdoor bar across the street from the hotel which is extremely noisy. Keeping the window open makes it hard to sleep with all the noise. They should warn about this. Also there is only paid street parking available. You will have to walk several blocks to get to the hotel after parking your vehicle.

Great location and received an excellent room as an upgrade. Good service during check-in, checkout, and at the hotel restaurant. Nice that they had an elevator (a different hotel we stayed at did not).

Easy check in, very clean, friendly staff. Overnight parking on the street is free, just be mindful you may need to pay for parking during the day.

Very comfortable hotel. We arrived later in the evening due to a late flight and it was very nice that there was a restaurant in the hotel so we did not have to go searching for food. Only about a 20 min walk from the main bus station and close to downtown as well.

Hotel is close the Hallgrimskirkja church and great restaurants (Babalu for breakfast, Salka Valka kitchen for sourdough pizza, and Reykjavík fish and chip restaurant). Has a loading zone to unload luggage in front and you can easily park your car on side streets with Parka app. Snaps the on site restaurant has great food as well. Love the staff there since they are friendly, courteous and great resource for local places. Their recommendation for the natural history museum and the ice bar were spot on. Highly recommend. Loved that they had an elevator.

Great spot to get a taste of Reykjavík while on an overnight layover. The curtains blackout nicely for complete rest and the lobby is cozy. We could also store our luggage easily the next day in their lobby while exploring before our flight. The shower has some dirt or mold looking drips on the top right corner and the bed sheets were very scratchy, but it still provided a great place to rest and get cozy after a long flight.

A lovely little spot that could use some love to its public spaces, but they were doing updates to rooms while we were there. But most importantly, the location was fantastic, the staff very friendly and helpful, room had plenty of storage and was kept very clean on a daily basis. We would book again should re turn to Reykjavik!

Personalen var fantastisk och rummen var rena. Läget är också bra. Men rummet skulle behöva renoveras och moderniseras. Väldigt lyhört var det också och eftersom rummet var intill hissen hörde vi alla som kom hem mitt i natten och åkte tidigt på morgonen.

We generally liked the hotel and the area in which it was located. Walking distance to everything which is why we chose it. The Bodega pub across the street was a lot of fun and we enjoyed seeing people sit outside on the colorful patio. Parking for the hotel is on the street - no big deal for us. Breakfast was a little sparse for the amount charged so we ate at a nearby restaurant the next day. Bathroom could have used a little painting but other than that, our room was clean and comfortable.

I purchased 3 rooms for our group, it was great that there was 2 rooms ready when we were several hours earlier than checking in. I didn’t even expect that, otherwise they held our bags. Room & bathroom was spacious and very clean. Great water pressure in the shower.

We stayed at the hotel for one night, unfortunately we had issues with flights which got us in at 11pm so we missed much of our stay in town. We left the next morning. Hotel was clean, comfy and right in town.

We spent 6 nights sleeping on the most comfortable beds. The hotel was immaculately clean. Staff was pleasant and helpful. We ate the breakfast buffet twice. The hot food was hot and all cold food was on ice. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience. We would love to travel to Iceland again, and we will definitely check availability at Hotel Odinsve first.

The overall condition of the hotel is good except the room is quite small which is very different from the photo they showed on web side.

The shower in this room was not shown in any photos it was a shower curtain on a tiny platform that flooded the entire bathroom everytime someone showered. The beds were also uncomfortable. If you need to save money it’s ok for a night or two but otherwise I would avoid. Positive is the location is good but parking is paid by the hour.

Hotel Odinsve was felt like a home away from home while I was in Iceland. The room was very comfortable with an amazing view - I even saw the Northern Lights from my balcony!

The staff was great. The rooms were very small. This is not a Luxery hotel and very expensive for what you get

When I booked this as a 4-star hotel, my expectations were a bit higher than what it was. There were no major issues with the room or hotel but bunch of minor things that could be addressed. Torn carpeting in the hallway, shower drain was partially clogged, old fashioned metal key, hard to properly adjust the room temp, and not the most plush bed, just to name a few. Great location, nice staff, and overall decent value. If this was classified as a 3 or 3.5 star property, I probably would have given it a 5-star rating. As such, if the price is comparable to 3-star hotels, this would be a great value and there should be not hesitancy staying here.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Odinsve! Excellent service, beautiful modern room, and very accessible. We picked it because of the location and were not disappointed. We were able to walk everywhere we needed to go, including from our tour drop off location. Every question and need we had was met by the wonderful front desk staff. And the best part was the meal we had at SNAPS, adjacent to the hotel. We stayed on a Saturday night in December, and were still able to snag a seat for perhaps one of the best meals we've had all year. Fantastic Christmas Dinner options in a festive lively atmosphere. The only complaint I have about the hotel was the lack of noiseproofing. I was able to hear quite a lot of normal movement from rooms upstairs (setting things down on surfaces, rolling suitcases, talking) which made falling asleep a challenge. Perhaps fans could be made available to help alleviate this.

The front desk staff wasn’t very friendly. The room was sparse and didn’t have a thermostat to control temps. We had to keep windows open and the square across from the hotel was exceptionally noisy at 5AM. Would not choose it again.

The front desk is open 24 hours and staff were very friendly, one saw I was working in the lobby and offered me coffee. The location is pretty good, right next to the main touristy shopping street and within walking distance of lots of stuff. The lobby was nice to sit in and the wifi in the room worked pretty well. Unfortunately, the entire building has a constant hum at 299hz (I measured it) and it was loud enough at certain points in the room to drive me crazy. It seemed to come from all around the room and was present throughout the building, it was probably connected to the pipes or AC or something. The internals of the building were pretty dated, so the lift was tiny and there were raised bits on the entrance to rooms that you could trip over. The rooms use physical keys rather than keycards and you have to leave your key with the front desk. The room itself was small but reasonably clean and had a decent desk, so if you're travelling solo for business and get the room cheap then it's not too bad. They did let me store my bags in a room for a while and the front desk was 24/7 so that was good, but there was no ticket system and they just left the room unlocked. It didn't feel particularly secure. Overall if it's very cheap then it's fine but if it's not too much more expensive I would go for one of the larger chain hotels. That weird 299hz hum really wasn't good.

They knew the town well enough to help us find the restaurant we had remembered from 3 years ago. The restaurant on the premises, Snap, is also delicious for a meal and the ambience is cozy but chic. Excellent cocktail selections.

We’ve stayed at this hotel before and had an amazing experience, which is why we chose to return. Unfortunately, this visit was very disappointing. The room initially assigned to us was extremely small, and the bathroom was so cramped you couldn’t even turn around. Reception did accommodate our request to change rooms, which turned out to be the only positive aspect of our stay. The real issue came when we returned to the hotel around 13:00 to find our room hadn’t been cleaned. This has happened to us before in both Europe and the U.S., and the standard response is usually an apology and quick action. Instead, the receptionist was shockingly disrespectful, he refused to look at me while I spoke, kept staring at his screen, and dismissed everything I said. He flatly refused to contact housekeeping and told us we could either wait in the lobby until 15:00 or skip cleaning entirely if we went to the room. When I asked for help, he coldly replied that check-ins took priority and that they wouldn’t “tell housekeeping how to do their job.” He even said that since they had changed our room at check-in, we now “owed them” patience. I was traveling with my elderly father, who ended up falling asleep in the lobby from exhaustion. We waited 1.5 hours before being told our room was ready. Customer care was completely lacking. We stayed for a week, and breakfast was exactly the same every day with no variation. We left very disappointed and won’t be returning.

Great place to stay. Close to all Reykjavic’s attractions but in a quiet neighborhood. Common space is limited, and there is often a bottleneck at the front desk for checking in, getting room keys, and asking for info.

Central location. Very friendly staff. Five minutes walk to many restaurants and shops. We can see Church of Hallgrímur from our room. I would stay here again.

The staff was amazing. One of our friends had an emergency and the night manager, Gunnar, was amazing. Then another couple had flight issues and again Gunnar helped.

I have a friend who spoke highly of Hotel Odinsve which is partially why my wife and I stayed here for 2 nights. We were delighted we stayed as the location is very central to a lot in Reykjavik. The BSI bus terminal is just a short walk, there are many restaurants and shopping stores nearby and it is very safe to walk at any time. The team at the hotel is very friendly and everyone who attended us was super helpful and approachable. The one small thing that would have made my stay even better would have been a shower head that actually functions. In the bathtub, we were not able to get the shower head to work. We were able to bathe but weren’t able to use the shower head. But that aside, everything was excellent!

My husband and I loved our 2-night stay at Hotel Odinsve! The location was excellent - it was about a 6-minute walk to the tall, beautiful Hallgrímskirkja church, which is a major landmark in Reykjavic and a popular bus stop and tour pick-up spot. There are numerous stores and restaurants within very close walking distance, and if you're up for it, major attractions like Perlan, the Lava Show, and FlyOverIceland are just 2.2 - 2.5 miles away. The hotel itself has a lot of charm and is very different from a chain hotel. For instance, the room key is an actual key - when was the last time you saw that?! The room was clean, quaint, and had everything we needed. It even had helpful features like a heated towel rack, which came in handy for drying swimwear after going to the Blue Lagoon. Every staff member we met was friendly, helpful, and welcoming. I would definitely stay at Hotel Odinsve again!

The location of this hotel is very convenient for getting around the city. Finding parking was reasonably easy as well. Price, location and quiet surroundings make this a very desirable hotel.

Hotel Odinsve is conveniently located in the city center. It’s walkable to all major attractions and bus stops. Room is very cozy and clean. And hotel staff is friendly and very helpful. One day during my stay, I went on an excursion tour to South Coast and accidently left my iPhone on the tour bus after tour was over. Jorinde and Gunnar went above and beyond their duty to help me. They contacted tour company to track down the bus and locate my phone within 12 hours. Jorinde even proactively arranged a taxi for me to go to tour company’s office to pick up my phone early next morning so I didn’t have to miss another excursion tour to Snaefellsnes Peninsula that day. Jorinde and Gunnar: you guys are the best! Thank you once again!

Close to downtown, restaurants and shopping but quiet at night!

Great location between City Hall and the church on the hill. Easy walk down the hill to City Hall to catch excursions out of Reykjavík. Breakfast was excellent and a good value for the price. Hotels.com Gold reward was honored for one free breakfast during my 2-night stay. Price is not cheap, but that's Iceland...

Property is located in a very convenient location. Walkable to shopping and dining areas. Also stop # 8 is 5 minutes walk from the hotel, where our pick up of Golden circle and blue lagoon excursion took place. Only one thing is missing in the hotel is shower rooms in the bathroom. They are very small and inconvenient. Rest of the thing’s are great. Hotel staff are very supportive and helping. Food at the hotel restaurant was good. Overall is good. Location wise definitely I recommend this hotel.

Good location a short walk to restaurants and the harbor. The hotel is modern with large rooms and baths, helpful staff and a good breakfast.

Stayed here 4 nights in late May, quaint little hotel (still uses keys for room doors), very walkable to all of the tourist areas of downtown Reykjavik. Staff was very accommodating. We opted for the included breakfast which was great value given Reykjavik’s sometimes pricey restaurants. Our room was showing some signs of needing an update and there was a shelf over the bathroom sink that would not let a person shave or brush teeth over the sink without the shelf in the way, minor annoyance. We ate at the French themed on site restaurant one night (where the breakfast is served) and it was solid and there is a lively little outdoor café/bar, right across the street.

The hotel is in a great location. The breakfast buffet at Snaps, the french bistro which has direct access from the hotel lobby was delicious and super convenient when planning our day.

Great spot, only complaint is the welcome email makes it sound like breakfast is included instead of $40-$50US. "Check-in Time 3 PM Check-out Time 12 PM (noon) Smoking Policy All our rooms and apartments are completely smoke-free, for you to enjoy, as well as our lobby, bar, and restaurant. Breakfast Breakfast is served between 07:00 and 10:00 every morning."
