Although the hotel does have a lift the room we were put in did not and it was difficult taking a heavier suitcase up the hill and stairs to the room just double check. It’s a very suitable hotel though not five star but certainly nice and the restaurant dinner was quite good

The location is great but parking is very limited. Even after reserving a space, I wasn't able to park there the first night. Room was clean but with some missing or broken items.

Good location, quiet, luggage storage got full and I needed to find mine bag through many, many others. The staff was busy at the front desk. The elevator was not working in the morning which left me to lug bags down tight flight of stairs.

The hotel itself was fine, but was not too happy after incorrect information given by a hotel staff member resulted in a $400 morning trying to get back to the airport. When I arrived, they were out if guest parking (fine), I then asked the reception attendant where i could park overnight and he gave me the address of a parking ramp nearby. He did not mention that you can’t get the car out until 7am despite having a code with the ramp and I had a flight the next morning at 7:30am. This resulted in a $200 taxi ride to the airport (yes, Iceland is insanely expensive) and another $200 fee for the rental company to go pick up the car. All of this could gave been avoided with some communication as it was not clear that once your car was in the garage you could not access it with your code between certain hours.

Hotel Fron was a great pick for staying downtown, the room was comfortable and it is in the middle of many restaurants, bars and shops, the church is just a short walk away. It still was quiet in the room. The free breakfast is a real plus (especially considering prices in Iceland) and the staff was very helpful. If you have a rental car, there is a parking garage two blocks away with good prices (the staff can give you the address).

The positives: Great location, decent sized rooms (including some multiple bedrooms suites). Negatives: Almost no facilities (there is a little bar we discovered near the small lobby), mediocre breakfast, rooms are pretty basic for the price….but then, everything is very expensive in Iceland. There is no parking other than on the street, which is free overnight but not cheap or easy to find during the day.

Wow! What an incredible location around all the shops and Rsinbiw street, the church and the lake where we walked a couple blocks to watch the northern lights reflect on the water! Hotel also has a restaurant along the street with amazing lamb soup, and your breakfast in there is included as well. Wonderful spread for breakfast. They also have parking right there, it’s tricky to find so contact the hotel!

We really enjoyed our stays here. Perfect location in the heart of downtown Reykjavik. The rooms were exceptional. The breakfast had plenty of options. The only drawback is there isn't designated parking, so you have to hoof your luggage from a pay for parking garage a little ways away. Don't think you can unload at the door either, because the street in front is for foot traffic only, and special vehicles.

The staff were courteous and in particular the fellow on the day I left was very helpful. The breakfast bread was truly great as well. Very fresh and filling. MMy lone concern that led to that rating was the state of the room. I wasn’t 100% confident the room had been changed over. I found a few different long hairs in the bed and a towel in a curious placement in the bathroom. It gave me the creeps and I found a way to sleep without moving. Obviously I should’ve spoken up about it, but I didn’t. It actually took me five days to open my case because I was creeped out in case something got in there.

The smell from the water was unbearable. We suggest to keep the bathroom door closed. If you have a candle or incense, try that. There were stains on the couch, along with a burn mark. The water pressure was the worst that we have ever seen. Strange, because the water pressure in the kitchen seemed fine, but the shower was just a trickle!!!

My family of four stayed at Hotel Fron for one night before heading back to the States after our Icelandic adventure. The two bedroom apartment with sitting area and small kitchen worked very well for us. The only reason I cannot give the hotel five stars is because of the horribly strong sulfur smell that comes from the bathroom (and the water). The odor overtakes the entire apartment after one shower.

The room was clean and good size. It feels like walking into IKEA, basic and austere. It’s interesting that the hot water comes directly from the volcanic hot springs. Therefore the hot water has a strong liver of sulphurs odour. The cold water comes from the mountain and we were able to wash off the odour. The hotel is situated in the middle of downtown across from a bar. So Friday and Saturday nights are a little bit noisy with bar goers and the thumping of the music.

Noisy location! Do not accept a room on the street side of hotel. The street noise is endless all day and most of night with yelling drunk tourists. It’s a basic hotel for not more than one night. Three star rating is generous. Central location is excellent though.

Awesome stay for our family of four. We had a 2-room suite that had two twins in each room. Although we prefer a king bed for ourselves, the twins were perfect for the kids. The beds were really comfortable as well. The location was incredible with all the bars and restaurants within a block or two of the place.

Rasa the front desk receptionist legitimately saved my life. I was robbed in Iceland and was completely stranded. Rasa helped me any way she could, and I managed to make it back home!! Truly the nicest receptionist I have ever encountered and she went above and beyond to try to help me.

The hôtel location was excellent right downtown with tons of stores including grocery stores near by. The staff super friendly and the check in and out process was simply and fast. The breakfast was simply but fantastic - fresh, tasty. Highly recommend

Really nice hotel, with amazing location, very central. I came at 11.30 and wanted to drop my luggage but they said my room was ready and allowed me to check-in, very nice and appreciated. Room is clean, with all necessary amenities. All perfect for my stay. Also good value for Iceland's standard.

Front desk person is very impersonable. Stated he doesn’t know if our transfer to the airport is reliable. Which was exceptional in Providing service. We ad to wait for a while to check out since no one is at the front desk. The location of the hotel is strategic.

Jal at check in was very accommodating. The bed was comfortable and the room was fine. The location is perfect, walking distance from stop 6 on the FlyBus, and in the middle of many shops and restaurants. Breakfast was varied and plentiful. We would stay there again.

Cant fault the hotel or location, be mindful it is on a main street with lots of bars so it can be quite noisy at night. Thats the only downside. But you can close the window to dull the noise

We really enjoyed our stays here. Perfect location in the heart of downtown Reykjavik. The rooms were exceptional. The breakfast had plenty of options. The only drawback is there isn't designated parking, so you have to hoof your luggage from a pay for parking garage a little ways away. Don't think you can unload at the door either, because the street in front is for foot traffic only, and special vehicles.

Great great great hotel. A true gem with a wonderful location 2 blocks to the sun voyager on the water and 3 blocks to the cathedral, and right on the main shopping street, Laugavegur. Good breakfast too and if you can get room facing the back courtyard, its very quiet! Our 3rd floor unit was spacious and clean, and contained good storage. Bed, linens, and pillows were excellent. Will definitely use Fron as a base for future Iceland trips.

Hotel Fron is located in the heart of the pedestrian-only shopping and dining area. Lots to do within a few blocks of hotel. The Fron was spotless, rooms were comfy and quiet, and the included breakfast included a plentiful assortment of breakfast food. Front desk helped get a taxi to the cruise ship dock. Highly recommend this hotel

Hotel was in the perfect location, could walk to everything! Good location for catching tour buses too! Clean, friendly and lovely hotel. Very laid back approach and even loaned me a travel plug as I brought the wrong one!! Free of charge too! Breakfast was continental style and plenty of choice, perfect to set you up for the day. Will definitely stay here again!

A great boutique hotel. We had an “apartment “ room. It had kitchenette, large bathroom, and separate bedroom off the main room. Very clean. We experienced no noise. We were not on the street side (which is a pedestrian only street). The breakfast buffet was terrific. All kinds of cold choices. Tasty and enough to be filled too. Highly recommend.

The hôtel location was excellent right downtown with tons of stores including grocery stores near by. The staff super friendly and the check in and out process was simply and fast. The breakfast was simply but fantastic - fresh, tasty. Highly recommend

Great hotel and excellent location. The breakfast is really exceptional with lots of fruit choices, meats, breads, cereal, etc. rooms are on small side, but we had two chairs for sitting. Very professional and helpful front desk. We stayed here twice, two days each time and everything was consistently good.

Perfect location downtown Reykjavik. Really close to museums, restaurants and nightlife. A bit of a walk from the air shuttle bus main station (hotel service is available). Breakfast was included. No eggs, but basic ham and cheese on toast, cereals/yoghurt and some fruit and one choice of pastry. Good coffee.
