The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were excellent. The location is perfect, with lots of great dining and shopping options in walking distance. We would definitely stay here again! Just a heads-up for anyone renting a car, there is no hotel parking. Either park on the street or a close by parking garage, but understand this will be expensive no matter what.

The hotel was very clean and the room was a good size. The gym, sauna and hot tub were z great addition. We were very disappointed that the restaurant was closed for renovations as had planned to eat there after a long day-trip out and chose the hotel based on its restaurant. I thought it shoulxvd been mentioned at the time of booking. Also the bar was closed, we wouldvd likd to spend time in there.

Excellent location. Easy to walk to from parking garage, lots of shops and restaurants nearby. One of the main reasons I booked this hotel was for the restaurant/bar, but while I was there it was closed for renovations. Luckily, there was plenty of restaurants and bars within walking distance. I booked a room with a balcony but it should be noted that the balcony is shared with everyone else on the 4th floor, it wraps around the entire exterior of the hotel..meaning that at any point there could be other visitors standing outside your room window and door so it doesn't feel very private and you have to keep your curtains closed at all times for privacy. Also, no seating is provided on balcony.

This is a nice and clean hotel with a great location in the city. A large variety of food and shopping options nearby. If you are going on excursions, you will be picked up at nearby bus stops, not the hotel because the street is very narrow. The staff are multi-lingual and were very helpful. We had a lovely view of the city and harbor, but new construction is blocking the view of the bay. Food is very, very expensive in Iceland, so prepare your travel budget wisely. We enjoyed our stay, the city and the country. It is a unique place in the world and beautiful.

Heart of Reykjavik. Shops, food, attractions all around. Staff was friendly and helpful. Even enjoyed the small gym and soak in the hot tub and sauna. Parking on the street was a little annoying but easy to find and easy enough to figure out how to pay. Would stay again.

Walkable to so much of downtown. Nice sauna and fitness area. Hot tub dinky. Staff was great! Restaurant in the hotel was great… a bit high end for our crew. Close to the bus pick up for our tours.

Room was spotless, staff was helpful, location was superb and Breakfast was fresh and fabulous! My only complaint was that the WiFi was very weak at best. Other than that it was a great stay at Alda Hotel.

Front desk, bar, breakfast and restaurant staff great. Room cleanliness below acceptable. Room was so gross when we arrived…with hair from someone else for days on bedclothes, towels and everything we wore. Not sure how they are considered a 4 star hotel. Would not rebook based on cleanliness.

Location was great, however the beds were very uncomfortable and the room was too hot. The street noise made sleeping difficult. Also, we got a call to ask us to leave from the reception at 11:03 am when checkout was at 11 am. Poor hospitality.

Very good, very pleased with our 3 night stay. Location brilliant for restaurants cafes, bars and shops. Very close to the bus pick up and drop off (9). Staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was well large enough for the 3 of us. Wide choice of food for breakfast. Being critical, the shower was difficult to get the setting just right. It was slow to respond so one got it too hot or too cold. Although the breakfast was excellent it was identical each morning. Just a few changes each day would have been good ie swap the strawberry skye to another flavour or different cheeses. Well pleased thank you

Alda is central to the main area of Reykjavik, which was awesome. Had a king size room and could walk on an open patio and see the views. Only downside was there is no air circulation and it got stuffy and warm. I understand no air conditioning but perhaps some ventilation from the outside. It was about 50-55F/ 10-13C and had to keep the window and door open for air. Since it was summer, it was a challenge keeping the drapes closed to keep out the light while letting in the breeze. I put a backpack on the bottom to keep it from completely opening but didn't get enough breeze and light crept in so def need an eye mask and ear plugs for outside noise. Maybe we could have asked for a fan. We still had a great 5 nights and would stay there again!

street noise from partiers late at night quite considerable. walls are very thin, same from above - you can hear every step they take, also, when room neighbors' close their doors hard, the walls shake noticeably bathroom quite small with ridiculously small sink. great location - parking is on street, wherever you can find a spot. get a parking app so you can pay without being at the car.

From the time we arrived way before checkin to time of checkout everyone was extremely kind, welcoming and genuinely cared about us. We were able to check in 5 hrs early, which was greatly appreciated. The front deck personnel were concerned about our welfare and always suggested ways to enjoy our stay. Kudos to Violeta who always went above and beyond. She made our stay as great as it was.

We reserved this property several months ago through Expedia. When we attempted to check in ( a few minutes early), we were told that they did not have room because they overbooked. We explained to them that we were staying at the hotel with other family members and booked at the exact same time. They were very apologetic and set us up in an even nicer hotel in a suite, with comped breakfast, and paid for a taxi. While this ended up being fine and we appreciated how much they tried to accommodate us, the lack of communication beforehand was completely unacceptable.

Property is great but the service is absolutely horrible. For the price point of the hotel it’s ridiculous. Asked for late check out and was told it was $45 and I’d have to come down in the morning to confirm if it was possible. The whole point of late check out is to sleep in! Also a staff member couldn’t speak Icelandic and was extremely rude when asking for basic things such as late check out or to check the room for a missing item. Overall nice hotel ruined by a very rude and unprofessional employee

We booked our stay with Alda Hotel in Reykjavik on July 21, 2024. This was for our last night in Iceland which was October 17th. We arrive on check-in day of October 17th only to be told they over-booked and we got moved to a different hotel. They did send a notice on October 15th ( as if that makes a difference ) when we were on the other side of the country. Almost three months after we make our reservation we are informed of the hotel being fully booked. The Hilton we got moved to seemed as a downgrade. My wife and I can’t help but think we got moved because we purchased our stay through Expedia and at a discounted price. Still trying to understand the reason to sell a reservation, sit on it for almost three months before letting the customer know they over-booked. VERY UNHAPPY with Alda Hotel. At least we never have to worry about booking stays at their hotel in the future, (which is part of Hilton). Fortunately all the other hotels we stayed at in Iceland were wonderful and will highly recommend.

Hotel has nice sized rooms and nice bathrooms. The location is ideal, in the middle of the main shopping Street in Reykjavík. A very good base for a multi day. Stay in Reykjavík.

Pros - we had a room on the third floor at the back of the hotel so it was quiet - was able to put the radiator on when it got cold and open the windows when it was too warm - room was cleaned daily - black out curtains were very effective Cons - queen suite was very very small - room was a little tired with some chipped paintwork - no space to unpack. A few hangers were provided - breakfast was adequate but cheaper and much options at the local bakeries
