we arrive quite early wanting drinks in the bar which wasn't a problem, but it was really really slow service and there wasn't many people about to be honest Even tried sitting on the patio Service was even worse we thought we made a serious mistake booking this place for our wedding anniversary, which is 39 years we got our room and got changed for the evening as the evening started different staff arrived and things changed. We had a fantastic evening meal a brilliant piano player during the meal. (I believe his name is Roy.) All the food was spot-on to be honest and then we left there and discovered there was a jazz band in the main bar which was absolutely brilliant as well in that main bar there was more efficient staff that looked after us very well so the evening made up for the slow service in the day so all in all really enjoyed it was quite expensive though but it is the grand hotel Eastbourne there was certain members of staff that are amazing they've been there in a long long time would return for them

It's been about 15 years since I last stayed and I was slightly disappointed this time. The lamp on our dressing table did not work nor did the vanity mirror light in the bathroom. Also found a few curly hairs in the bathroom. The Spa is looking quite run down. Peeling paint, missing tiles and mouldy grout in the pool. Mould on the step. Generally did not feel very clean.

Fabulous building in the old decadent style with some great Edwardian / Victorian architecture. Really friendly and accommodating staff. A heated outdoor pool is a nice touch too.

Exceptional hotel, going back in time with a Modern Twist & 5 star service. The warm welcome you get as soon as you walk through the entrance is very special. We had an afternoon tea, used the Spa facilities as well as a treatment. Special thanks to Alice who did my facial and massage and Tony from concierge who did a showed me around the hotel to help choose our room.

I've stayed at many 5 star hotels, this was average for a five star. It had old furniture, the swimming pool indoor was nice. The staff were friendly and lovely. The property could do with a paint-up. I had the deluxe room. The TV was very small for a room of the size, breakfast was okay.

Hotel was very clean and comfortable. We needed an early breakfast before an event and our request was honoured without any fuss. Breakfast very good quality. A successful weekend stay. Unfortunately the indoor pool was closed !

Lovely hotel with very friendly staff. Right opposite beach and short walk to pier. Breakfast was lovely, spa/pool great. Had a relaxed time and great sleep in the comfy bed!

Staff were amazing and the building is stunning. Lots of communal areas and we had some live music in the bar in the evening. Lots of choice at breakfast and they catered to gluten free. Room was lovely and very clean. Only downside is that the leisure facilities are getting a bit run down, but they are still nice to use.

The hotel decoration was beautiful and very clean. The room was perfect and when we had an issue the staff were very efficient and moved us to a new room. The hotel was very quiet except for a bit of noise during one day when scaffolding was being erected outside the new room we were in, this was due to repairs taking place so couldn’t be helped. We had a superb breakfast each morning with lots of choice.

Amazing hotel and grounds. Plenty of parking out of season so no need to pay to pre book. We stayed in a superior room which looked newly renovated. The bed was comfy and everything was high quality. Breakfast in the morning was also very nice and good quality, and all ordered and served with table service. There was also a self serve continental buffet. Staff all friendly and helpful, making it a pleasurable experience overall.

Maybe Grand by name but not so much in other places, our room was nice and a good size but needed a thorough clean, the walls had lots of dust and cobwebs on them, the facilities in the room did not quite match up to the hotels 5star rating, no iron or ironing board in the room, not enough plug sockets (one had a cheap white four plug extension cable connected to it), no mini bar, a fun sized TV and the bath and shower were very dated (shower curtain does not scream 5star to me) all in all a bit underwhelming. Indoor swimming pool was just ok and the jacuzzi jets were comical (definitely needs an upgrade). We stayed for two nights including breakfast, which on the first day was fantastic (full English) sadly let down by the second days efforts, all I asked for was 2 soft boiled eggs but when they arrived they were well over cooked, I asked for a replacement which was accommodated straight away but this time they massively undercooked the eggs (I know sometime you can get slightly runny whites if you have a soft boiled egg but these were still translucent) in the end I gave up as we had to pack for check out. The Grand Hotel is a lovely hotel and well worth a visit but the finer touches really need to be looked at in my opinion if they want to maintain a 5star facility and service.

The Grand is a fine hotel but I was concerned about the overall service provided. Our room, although very clean, had an unpleasant musty smell. We raised this with the hotel but it was not adequately dealt with. Our room was not cleaned on one occasion and towels not replaced on another. Service in the bar was slow. On the positive side staff were generally friendly and attentive and service at breakfast was very good.

Didn’t expect what I saw the room is big but it’s full of flies and insects which I never experienced anywhere in other hotels, the bed was uncomfortable and found a pillow dirty and had to call to let them and come and bring a new pillow and they bought a pillow with case and the zip is damaged and doesn’t zip up. And next day the room attendant came to clean the room I expected them to put new towels which they haven’t left the bathroom with dirty towels honestly it was a big shock for us and never go back there

Parking available, check in was very easy. Staff were always friendly and professional. The room was clean. Coffee, tea and water available in the room. Just across from the sea which made it a really relaxing break. Breakfast was great, with a lot of options available. You could choose from continental, English or both types of breakfast. Check out also very straightforward.

Check in was very good with friendly staff. Valet parking very helpful “Tony” was remarkably helpful. We originally booked a classic room. This was an attic room nowhere near as the measurements described on Hotel .com site. This room had a stale smell. We requested upgrade which was accommodated. Deluxe room although without any views was clean and airy. There was no fridge which is a must for my medicines. The housekeeping provided us with a small fridge . When plugged in we found the electric sockets where the TV was, were not working . We had to ask for shower caps Duty manager Bronwyn was very helpful and she herself sorted that out The evening meal in the Garden Grill was not to standard even the service meant to be silver service was not 5* Next day we wanted to use the pool & spa and found no Robes. Which were given to us after considerable wait. Our floor was very noisy with Children. The coffee was only decaf no normal tea bags. The best thing about the stay was Breakfast Very good. I would stay there again but expect better comfort probably will book a more superior room.

Though it was a beautiful hotel I don’t feel it rated 5 star. My room didn’t even have a bar fridge in it. I had to ask for one. Although it was lovely having a bath & shower it would have been difficult to get in & out as it had no grab bars. Various other small things brought it down. Staff were lovely so maybe a 4 star plus.

ROOM 102 - NOISY Pigeons, From 4.30am onwards, despite continual "shooing away!'. No Double glazing. They don't seem to be around in the Quad during the middle part of the day - when I took the picture. BLACKOUT - Ineffective due to shape of window recess. BATHROOM - Insufficient shelf space around sink. QUIET ROOM REQUESTED - So in addition to Pigeons, a lot of noise from room above(bumping & banging), largely due to old floorboards - Should be upgraded as each room is refurbished. A Hook on the inside of Bathroom Door would be nice, as would a Larger TV. FINALLY - Room Service Tray, nice & large, but didn't really fit comfortably onto Desk or Round Table, & actually resulted in a spill ! These problems are readily VERIFIABLE, I have not exaggerated any of my concerns. Most if the PROBLEMS are not too difficult to remedy, or work around, particularly if accurate accounts/problem areas are recorded for EACH room, and born in mind when matching Visitors Requirements. However, the Noise issues & inadequate BLACKOUT Blind, are areas which require URGENT attention. The staff were friendly and helpful and the dining experience was pleasant, It's just rather a shame that in terms of the Room, this lovely old Hotel, at which I have had many pleasant experiences in years gone by, she does seem to have lost her halo at the present time. It would be nice to hear that these problem areas are being rectified, so that I would feel comfortable about staying there again in future.

Check in staff member was not welcoming and said every 5 star hotel insisted on payment upfront making us feel perhaps we had never stayed in one before! The room was probably fit for 5 stars in the 70’s but not today. A tiny tv, broken blinds on windows that needed painting, an old style shower curtain and two single beds pushed together with a very large gap down the middle. Dinner choice and quality also would have been great 40-50 years ago, we were typically English and just carried on but the American on the next table did not stay which was probably the right thing to do. There were a couple of positives, the bar staff were friendly and breakfast staff and food were good. We would not return.

The room was rather small for such an expensive hotel. I can understand that if you don't pay the extra for a sea view, you don't get a sea view. But the view from the room of a rather inspiring courtyard wasn't great.

The breakfast was okay, not great. The hotel is dog friendly and they had kept treats and bed for the dog in the room. Only downside is that the sea facing rooms dont have an aircon and in 26C heat, that was something which was needed.

Loved the Hotel & we upgraded and had a superb sea view. Very good facilities. Excellent breakfast, because the Hotel was quite quiet on our visit, the already huge dining / breakfast room seemed even bigger & therefore lacked a little bit of atmosphere. Could easily be sectioned off during the quieter periods. Would happily return to The Grand Hotel.

I've stayed at many 5 star hotels, this was average for a five star. It had old furniture, the swimming pool indoor was nice. The staff were friendly and lovely. The property could do with a paint-up. I had the deluxe room. The TV was very small for a room of the size, breakfast was okay.

This is an impressive grand old hotel with professional, friendly staff. We really enjoyed its position on the seafront and its two pools. However, parts of the hotel are very dated and staff were overwhelmed at breakfast, which meant service was slow and detracted from overall experience. The bed was too soft and pillows old and flat. The bathroom was a museum piece! For these reasons, we felt it was very overpriced.It needs alot of money spending on it to modernise it.

I liked the parking guy He was very helpful and saved us a parking space instead of us parking on the street. At breakfast however we were unimpressed. The front of house was surly and unwelcoming and the junior staff not empowered to make decisions themselves as when we asked to be moved away from the dirty dishes stand it was a case of "I will have to ask my supervisor first' so we left. The room was three quarters empty.

we arrive quite early wanting drinks in the bar which wasn't a problem, but it was really really slow service and there wasn't many people about to be honest Even tried sitting on the patio Service was even worse we thought we made a serious mistake booking this place for our wedding anniversary, which is 39 years we got our room and got changed for the evening as the evening started different staff arrived and things changed. We had a fantastic evening meal a brilliant piano player during the meal. (I believe his name is Roy.) All the food was spot-on to be honest and then we left there and discovered there was a jazz band in the main bar which was absolutely brilliant as well in that main bar there was more efficient staff that looked after us very well so the evening made up for the slow service in the day so all in all really enjoyed it was quite expensive though but it is the grand hotel Eastbourne there was certain members of staff that are amazing they've been there in a long long time would return for them

We had a great 1-night stay in March 2025. The service from the staff was impeccable and we were made to feel very welcome. The room was clean and tidy, and functional with a very large bathroom. The included amenities (indoor pool, steam room, jacuzzi) and complimentary breakfast was outstanding. We would definitely stay again.

When I first walked in I was so impressed, the hotel is very opulent and the staff are very welcoming, then you walk into the room that was very nice but a bit flat after the grandeur of the surroundings . The thing that let it down the most was the breakfast, we were a party of 14 celebrant nephews wedding, we all ordered and then waiting ages for any food to appear, when it did they had no idea who had ordered what and it was absolute chaos, my haddock was a least 5 minutes overcooked and my poached eggs were rock hard, most disappointing.

The staff were extremely helpful and went above and beyond to ensure I had meals that met all the requirements (dairy free, gluten free and no acidic or spicy foods). The chef made me tasty alternatives and i enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea that catered to all my dietary requirements. Amazing hotel. You really feel special when you stay at the Grand in Eastbourne. Particular shout out to the front of house staff (concierge, porter, waiter at breakfast, waitresses at high tea) who went out of their way to look after us. The room was super comfortable, the bar and lounges are wonderfully elegant. Only watch out is that prices are not cheap, so if you are planning a few drinks in the bar, expect a 5* bill. Most important question, would we return? Without a hesitation, yes. Thank you to the staff at the hotel, my wife and I have added some wonderful memories as a result of your excellent work.

It’s a historical building - lots of character and grand looking! Close to the beach and seven sister cliffs. Some staff were super helpful, others were not. The building is old and some areas need work (ie. pool had missing tiles on the steps. Ceiling is peeling in areas.) it’s old but still nice. The doormen were all wonderful and very helpful!

A superb hotel, in a central location. Highly attentive and thoughtful staff. The interior areas were luxurious and felt like a historical discovery lay at every turn. Good choice of vegetarian and non-veggie food at breakfast. The only minor downside was the view from our room was over the inner side of the hotel which overlooked service areas - though at least it was blocked by a blind. Be prepared to pay extra for a sea view.

Check in was very good with friendly staff. Valet parking very helpful “Tony” was remarkably helpful. We originally booked a classic room. This was an attic room nowhere near as the measurements described on Hotel .com site. This room had a stale smell. We requested upgrade which was accommodated. Deluxe room although without any views was clean and airy. There was no fridge which is a must for my medicines. The housekeeping provided us with a small fridge . When plugged in we found the electric sockets where the TV was, were not working . We had to ask for shower caps Duty manager Bronwyn was very helpful and she herself sorted that out The evening meal in the Garden Grill was not to standard even the service meant to be silver service was not 5* Next day we wanted to use the pool & spa and found no Robes. Which were given to us after considerable wait. Our floor was very noisy with Children. The coffee was only decaf no normal tea bags. The best thing about the stay was Breakfast Very good. I would stay there again but expect better comfort probably will book a more superior room.

This is an old fashioned, classy hotel with high levels of service. A treat to stay there. The rooms are not air-conditioned but there is an effective tower cooler instead. Down side is the very high bar prices. I paid three times what I would have expected to pay in a pub so didn't indulge in any further drinks.

Arrived and checked in easily. Room was very large and comfortable but decorations rather old and tired. Bed rather small for a room of this size. Nice sea view. Ate in Mirabell one night and was excellent cooking - definitely worth a visit

The Grand Eastbourne is indeed Grand, impressive and located in the seafront which is convenient. As you enter it feels luxurious but it is tired with paint flaking off and carpets coming of the sides. The pool is small and we could see water damage in the ceiling tiles and overall the area didn’t feel very premium. The room we had was ok but it felt more like a 4 star rather than 5. Breakfast was very disappointing. Cheap sausages and bacon served warm and warmed up rather than cooked fresh.Cold beans and uncooked black pudding. Toast never turned up and table only got cleared when we asked. This was the first trip with my wife for the past 2 years as we had managed to leave the kids with a family member.

A minor point but the road was closed and there was no parking (ahead of Airbourne) so there was parking available foc with a permit on the local streets and they could have advised this ahead of time to manage uncertainties on arrival. They also advertise they want well dressed diners in the restaurants which is both offputting and not really true!

Elegant old lady of a hotel which I hope never gets ripped out and modernised! However more than a fan in the room should be the normal thing as with any 5 star. Excellent staff and felt cared about. Def staying again. Spa areas are great as are treatments
