I booked this hotel because the reviews were ‘wonderful’ . My experience was totally different. Positives The hotel is in a prime location . It’s a few minutes walk from South Kensington underground, close to Knightsbridge and the museums. But check in was very impersonal. I was very shocked that not only was a credit card taken but £50 charge was immediately taken and this wasn’t refunded until 12 noon on the day of departure. I have never experienced this in a hotel previously and I am a seasoned traveller. My room was on the fourth floor. The lift was my first appalling experience. Fake grass and plastic flowers I couldn’t have been more offended. But I accept that’s my personal prejudice. So my room . Ok but absolutely by no standards a five star experience. The carpet was grubby with a particular obvious stain on the right side of the bed. Lovely comfortable bed, nice robes provided. Fluffy towels shower was adequate but although a hair dryer was provided it was fairly inadequate and unfortunately the flex wasn’t long enough to reach a plug point that also allowed access to a mirror. I dried my hair standing up next to the wardrobe where the plug points were. But the main issue for me was the noise. My room was situated next to the housemaid’s cupboard. So from 7 am every morning I was disturbed by banging and clanging. Additionally I heard every conversation in other guest rooms during my stay. I knew when they used the toilet and took a shower. Not for me

Booked last min and the hotel had already decorated our room for our anniversary and gave us a complimentary drink. I was really impressed. The room was super cute too.

Fantastic hotel a short walk from Royal Alber Hall. Very helpful, friendly reception staff. Basic bar fantastically decorated. Great, huge bedroom with one of the best walking showers I’ve ever had. A little underwhelmed with the breakfast but would not put me off using again. Will definitely use again
