Homewood Suites by Hilton Detroit-Troy

Very convenient area. Hotel was clean and smelled fresh. The pool was clean, temperature was perfect and towels were fully stocked. Check in was extremely fast. Only thing was the site mentioned a 2 queen was available, which is what I booked and a front desk representative called to let me know the last one had been reserved so I made do with my small children with a one king.

Nice hotel, they’re remodeling some rooms now. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.

When we were walking to our room, the hallway smelled like urine. The people upstairs were running and jumping until all hours of the night and early morning. Asked to move to another room and none were available. The pool door was not functioning. We will not be staying at this hotel ever again.

Everything was great except the pool was not available all week.

They are starting renovations. Lobby has been done. Rooms have not. Some struggle with cleanliness but when mentioned to front desk they corrected issue. Nice location.

Excellent rooms and services. Pool was clean and breakfast is adequate.

The staff was amazing. The hotel was clean. The free breakfast had a wide range of choices. My only complaint would be the pool is chilly. Like can't swim longer than 20 minutes or you are shivering. But the kids still had a blast cold or not.

We stayed as a stopover on our way to a holiday home in Michigan. Would recommend for families, the suite size was great and all felt very clean and well looked after. We had the pool to ourselves for a lot of the evening and arrived on time for the Wednesday social!

Our room had grout all over the bathroom floor, and the hallways were filthy and needed repairs.

No working coffee pot and dirty floors in our room. Fixtures, refrigerator were sticky with whatever they were wiped down with. Bedding and towels were clean and mattress and pillows comfortable. Breakfast food had old reheated sausage links. Eggs were powdered. Breakfast was not good. All staff was nice and friendly though.

Unfortunately cleanliness of the room was not a priority and had to remind the front desk about removal of garbage etc from the room.

I have stayed at this hotel four times. The other three times I would give all five stars. This time I give two stars. The staff was very friendly and they were excellent. The room that I stayed in was disgusting. There were spider webs in every inch of the bedroom where the ceiling meets the wall. There were ants coming out of the kitchen sink. There was a chicken bone sitting on the floor that I had to clean up from the previous person who stayed. When I get to my hotels I always check the beds to make sure there are no bed bugs. There were no bed bugs but what I found was the mattress was soiled with somebody's blood on both sides of the mattress it looked like somebody had been murdered. I ended up going to Walmart and buying an entire comforter set just to cover everything that they provided for me and then I left it all there because it was way too disgusting to bring home. It certainly seems that the hotel is starting to go downhill from my previous visits and I may never stay here again.

I have stayed at this hotel many times. Every other time I would give it a five-star review. I normally have a second floor room and I usually enjoy my stay. This time I brought my dog because it is a dog friendly hotel. Since I had my dog I was put in a first floor room. When we entered the room for the first time we noticed it had a moldy smell. I always look around my hotel room when I check in and the first thing that I noticed was there was a lot of spider webs and spiders in multiple areas of the room. We always check underneath the bed sheets to make sure there are no bugs and when we did we found an extreme amount of blood on our mattress. We decided we were going to flip the mattress over only to find the opposite side of the mattress was also saturated in blood. I had to go to Walmart and buy my own sheet set in order to feel comfortable sleeping in this bed. The bedroom TV did not work. I had to go to the lobby and ask for somebody to fix the TV. The only way he was able to fix the TV was by taking the SIM card from the living room TV and putting it into the bedroom TV so the entire stay we only had one TV working. After our first sleep we woke up the next morning and found a ton of ants crawling around in our kitchen sink. We cleaned the sink and around the sink but realized nothing we could do would prevent the ants from coming up the drain in the kitchen they were all over the place and this continued the entire trip. More issues but max characters used.

Room was not clean, no other rooms available had to seek another hotel.

Bedroom TV remote had no batteries.We requested room service 3x still was not done. we had to change rooms on the second day because room was not cleaned and sheets not changed despite request 3 times. Smoke smell in hallway despite no-smoking signs. could hear next door person snoring sooo loud it woke us up at 3 am.

Front desk was great, but when using the restroom, one employee, after using the toilet walked out without washing her hands. Walking through the property there was trash on the floor and in the elevator. The carpets are worn and filthy. The room appeared clean. The bed had the most uncomfortable mattress ever. Some of the electrical outlets didn’t work and the microwave was sticky.

The shower in the second bedroom didn’t work and the employees although friendly didn’t know how to work the shower.

We had no hot water. The front desk told us that they had recently renovated the room. I guess they didn't consider adjusting the regulators when they did the plumbing. We had to take cold showers. The bathroom and kitchen sink were cold also. Maintenance came in and adjusted the bathroom sink but the water was only a bit warmer.

Staff were incredibly friendly and rooms were tidy. Sofa bed in living room was extremely uncomfortable (even with expectations for a sofa bed) and TV remote did not work in that area. Breakfast was great though!

Beautiful, spacious suite with its own kitchen area with dishes. Much more than we expected. Very comfortable. Clean. Will be back!

Looks brand new

Our room was outdated, but the hotel was doing some renovations, so im sure it was on the list to get completed. However, furniture in the room was broken (missing pieces on drawers, doors crooked in kitchen, etc) the couch was very uncomfortable, and small tv. In the evening after finishing our dinner all of the sudden a gush of water came pouring out of the light in our kitchen. And then it was a steady stream after that. We put buckets and towels under it, and tried calling the front desk for 15 minutes with no response. We ended up packing up our things and going down to the front desk and asking for another room. The front desk staff was apologetic and gave us a new room but no offer of a reduced rate or anything for the inconvenience. The whole stay was just less than relaxing and pretty disappointing.

We were facing the side near the airport and planes were taking off and landing. Not horrible loud but being on the other side would have been quieter. Also, the night before our departure, the roof in our room started dripping water. They offered to move us but we were leaving the next day and the dripping did not inconvenience us. They said they could not do anything about the dripping until sometime the next day. Breakfast was decent.

I would like to thank the staff member and front desk host RJ for making our stay at Homewood Suites by Hilton a very wonderful stay. Her professionalism, courtesy, patience and integrity displayed during our stay was tremendous. Just one of the reasons we will be returning to Homewood Suites and other brands by Hilton. RJ’s attention to detail, kindness and professionalism is FIVE STARS!!! From the moment we entered the lovely facility we were greeted with her courtesy and wonderful customer service skills. We watched her provide the same exceptional service to customer after customer with poise. She always acknowledged new customers waiting and let them know she will be right with them once she finished with the previous guest. She did this all while checking customers in on the phone as well. I was amazed at her ability to multitask and get every detail correct. She even made sure to greet every guest when she saw a guest getting coffee or food items. It was refreshing to see, especially at a time when so many customers feel slighted by some customer services offered at many corporations. She made us feel very warm and welcomed as well as ready to return in the future. She informed us about every detail of the hotel during the check-in of our stay, leaving us without questions. Now about the hotel, the facility was very nice and clean except for a dirty tub and toilet which RJ rectified, addressed very quickly and professionally by providing a wonderful solution

Amazing staff. Owen went above and beyond. Every request was quickly fulfilled and with a smile. He helped make my daughter's 14th birthday amazing!

Great stay! Hotel upgraded me at check in & was not expecting that which was very nice for a weekend outing.

After my asking for a room change it was Very Good! First room AC did not work! 80 degrees, 81 degrees while watching it being repaired for an hour. No room change offered! Hallway was cooler! Point here…the lady at the front desk had no compassion for its guests! This is not what one would expect at a Hilton Hotel. Arriving guests with immediate room issues should be offered room change immediately! After room change everything was fine and what one would expect at a Hilton.

Wonderful staff spacious room huge lobby great breakfast

I had an awful experience at the Homewood Suites by Hilton. From the moment we arrived, things went downhill. The front desk agent, Chris, made fun of a personal emergency my partner was dealing with, which was completely unprofessional and unacceptable. Instead of showing empathy, he treated us with disrespect, making an already difficult situation worse. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the room was absolutely disgusting. We found bread crumbs on the table, and it was clear the space had not been cleaned properly. When we raised concerns, Chris told us the rooms were “beautiful” and that we would want to live in them—far from the truth! The place was filthy and far below any reasonable standard for a Hilton-branded hotel. This experience was a complete letdown. I expected much better from Hilton, both in terms of cleanliness and customer service. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, and I hope management takes serious steps to address the issues we encountered.

The hotel itself was fine, but three small children ran and jumped above us until 2 a.m. and were back at it at 6 a.m. I spoke with the front desk three times, and I had to email the Operations Manager first when I was told I would get an email or call the next day.

Nice clean and in a safe area

It’s under construction however not affecting my sleep at all and I sleep during the day because I work at night. I’ve had multiple stays since May 2024 and each time my room was clean and ready. Staff is accommodating especially when I ask for early check in or even late check out. It’s typically sold out but I somehow find my way in! Directly next door to Walmart super convenient for shopping and Somerset Mall is like down the street very close. Tons! of restaurants to chose from and close to downtown Birmingham as well which have Emagine movie theater, more restaurants, etc. I would recommend for overall cleanliness, helpful management staff and location convenience!

We booked a 2 queen with a pull out and when we got there they told us they were full and were putting us in two different rooms. I have young children so this wasn’t ideal. Every surface in the room was dirty. All the cushions had stains. Blood stains on mattresses. The floor had tape holding it together. The pool heater was broken and ice cold. They shut the lights off at breakfast while people were still in the area, which wasn’t staffed well and barely any thing was refilled. They started switching over our room before we even checked out. We will never stay here again. However, Sheila at the front counter deserves a raise. She was amazing and was the best part of this hotel.

Super lousy breakfast

Very clean and comfortable. Suite rooms were spacious and had good amenities like glasses, a few dishes, microwaves and a fridge. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They have the standard breakfast but I felt like they worked to make it extra — breakfast burrito bowls and Asian breakfast bowls. Everyone enjoyed it!
