Thistle London Holborn

We had a brief family trip and our stay was very pleasant. Very easy check in and check out. The breakfast was hearty and convenient. The bar in the lobby is very handy. A perfect location for our needs. I would certainly choose to stay here again.

Hotel is in a good area and clean, rooms are larger with good storage, just some littel things, like the bar area closed with no notes for decorating, if i woukd of no this i would no of stayed, the door by the lifts slamming all night, their shoukd be a stopper for the noise,

There is no parking at this hotel. The reception staff had no interest in helping us find parking. Very disappointing

Our rooms were very quiet considering central location. More variety of snacks, other than just crisps, in the bar during the day e.g. biscuits, cakes would be good as the restaurant didnt cater for this.

Very convenient hotel, took the Elizabeth line from Heathrow Terminal 5 to Tottenham Court Road then a short flat walk to the hotel. Very friendly staff and would stay here again. Would have like a drink in the bar after our river cruise but the bar was closed. Overall a great experience.

This is a good hotel in a good location. Between two tube stops (Holborn and Tottenham Court) and easily walkable to other areas, I found this to be a conveniently located hotel. Pleasant hotel staff, from the front desk to housekeeping. An all around good choice for a reasonably priced hotel. Yes, there are elevators!!

Had a lovely stay for 1 night. Reasonable upgrade to a suite and made the full use of the minibar included. Breakfast was delicious. Hotel was really quiet which was great after a busy day! Staff were friendly and helpful. conveniently located and would stay again.

Great reception staff with a warm welcome. I received a complimentary room upgrade which was unexpected and a nice surprise. Room clean, fresh and well presented. Complimentary water and minibar along with tea and coffee (pod machine). Bathroom clean, good range of toiletries and bathrobes with slippers. Breakfast was everything you would expect and good quality. Overall, I am very glad to have chosen the Thistle hotel. So many hotels in London promise lots and deliver little but I will be choosing this hotel for future stays in london.

The hotel is conveniently located with easy bus and tube stations within a short walk. Also, easy walk to restaurants and moderate 15-18 minute walk to some theaters. Nothing special about the hotel itself. Pretty basic. We asked for wash clothes and were told they didn’t have any but I question whether the person new what I was asking for. Also, there is no area for guests to seat and eat if they want to bring their own take way food in except the room and they are very small with no real table to seat at. I was kicked out of the lounge area when we brought some take away back to eat and were forced to eat in our room on the bed. They also didn’t clean our room one day and the TV didn’t work. Over all just an average stay with a few disappointments.

Good location. Near city centre. I have two consecutive bookings but no cleaning service on my room in between.

Great hotel. Conveniently located. Friendly staff. Wonderful breakfast and lobby/bar area. Clean and comfortable bedding. However, carpet seemed dirty and there were cob webs around the bathroom door. Housekeeping knocked on the door multiple times when we had a Do not disturb sign. Some hallway doors are squeaky and hard to get through with luggage, but overall good hotel. We felt safe and comfy.

Clean room friendly staff

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The staff were kind and helpful, and the room was clean and well organised. I particularly appreciated the proper desk, the iron, and the shelf in the bathroom. The breakfast was reasonably good. There is a bus stop in front of the hotel, which made travelling easy and convenient.

Good location with short distance to what we needed. Walk to Oxford street and Covent Garden, British museum right behind the building. Short distance to underground. Well sized room and comfortable bed. Friendly staff. Could have been cleaner if they bothered to take the corners etc (found an old chocolate piece in a corner as an example). I might be a bit hard on the scoring, but would come back again with my family as it is a good stay! No doubt.

Room wasn't ready even tho we arrived after 15.00, found some old potatochips under the bed and the showerdrain was almost clogged

Hotel was okay, windows were very dirty the on the first night the AC did not work and the shower only had cold water. Second night was much better.

Great hotel in a good location, very clean

Managed to get an early check in but in a different room. We were given an accessible room, which was fine, however the walk in shower did go all over the bathroom floor, as the shower curtain isn't quite wide or long enough. Bed was very comfy. Staff are really friendly. We were on the 2nd room and we did get noise from the street at night until quite early in the morning. We would stay again but would ask for a quieter/higher floor room if possible.

Nice location. Went during a heat wave and the AC wasn't very strong. The room was clean as was the rest of the hotel.

Junior suite was lovely although the windows looked out onto a brick wall. The fridge didn’t work, neither did some channels on the tv in the main bed room and the shower temperature was too hot even on the coolest setting.

Rooms are a little smaller than the pictures. The shower is not well designed and leaks all over the bathroom. However, the staff is very good and the location is perfect for a Central London vacation.

Decent hotel, very central and excellent for West end. Comfortable bed and room. Only issue was couldn't turn shower cooler in the evening, then next morning no hot water.

We stayed 3 nights and there was never any hot water to shower in the mornings. The only time there was any hot water was in the middle of the night. When we complained the engineer informed us that the boilers were inadequate for the number of rooms.

Everything about our stay was great, however we had one big issue - lack of hot water. We stayed for 2 nights and there was no hot water on both mornings. It came on after about 30mins on one day, but didn't at all on the next. As this was our check out day, we had to ask for an alternative room just to have showers. Staff were very friendly and location was great, but the hot water issues took away from our experience.

I want to express my sincere gratitude to Yin at the front desk who was absolutely amazing and made this stay an excellent experience and for Laxman who gave us special attention throughout! It is wonderful to see people who care about their brand and what they offer and remember that just a little extra time and a warm smile make all the difference to guests! A lovely hotel that was clean and well maintained!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Thistle! Our room was larger than expected, the staff was friendly and helpful, and it was super convenient having the bus stop right outside. It was also a close walk to Covent Garden and The Strand. We'd definitely recommend!

Front desk staff were not supportive. Bar and bartender were excellent.

Could never get over the irritation of waiting 32 minutes in a queue to check in to the hotel. Everything else was okay, but I’ll never stay at a Thistle Hotel again.

Friendly & helpful service. Room very clean and spacious. Will definitely stay there again when next in London. Excellent value.

Lovely welcome from Renata on Reception. The room was great and breakfast was good. All staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. Good location. Will definitely return.

The stay was poor. Complained after first night of no extractor fan in bathroom, no stool/chair at the desk. Was told that they would immediately be rectified. Nothing happened. Came back on second night to nothing changed. Woke up in the morning and realised we had no towels. Called to reception, towels arrived 45 minutes later at 10.30 too late for me to have a shower and wash/dry my hair as check out at 11, then at 10.40 a knock at the door to ask if we were leaving the room. Tried to explain everyhting to receptionist on check out but he had no interest, no apology was given or reason why nothing was rectified and was told to speak to the website we used to book as nothing to do with him.

Great staff!

Upon arrival, one of the rooms we had book wasn’t ready for checking into. There was no apology for this. We also opted in for a room upgrade but completely understood that this may or may not happen. The one room that was ready could upgrade to then be told that we couldn’t as it wasn’t ready. We were told it would be two hours before that room was ready but we had dinner and a show so left it. Once in the room, it was quite a nice set up actually. However, you could feel every spring in the sofa bed which caused an uncomfortable nights sleep. The sides were also covered in dust. The room felt rather cold. The bathroom facilities were fine but the towel rail didn’t seem to work. The lift also seemed temperamental. It regularly said a warning about how it was overloaded. I fail to see how myself and one adult equates to 450KGs. There were multiple families offended by this. It also makes matters worse when the cleaning staff are using it during peak times which means that there’s delays and constant overloading messages. Upon checking out, I was told I owed money for an upgrade. I refused because we never had the upgrade. I was asked how our stay was and I said ok but there were things that wasn’t great. No apology. No discussion. Overall, it felt like we weren’t wanted or welcome. A real shame because I’ve stayed twice before and had a good stay. However, the lack of customer service and the poor room meant that I won’t be returning.

Great great location close to many touristic attractions !! Our room at front of hotel (2ndfl) was very noisy in the evening due to traffic or sirens. Book a room in rear side of hotel.

Large rooms. Comfortable beds. Great breakfast. Excellent location. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

I stayed at the hotel for one night as I was visiting the British Museum. The hotel was perfect for my needs - and around 5 minutes walk to the Museum.

Great location for tourists and business travelers, easy options for public transportation, lots of sights and destinations to explore within walking distance

Overall, it was a very decent property in a great location just north of downtown London near the British Museum. The staff was always nice and professional. We do wish we could figure out how to turn on all of the lights in my room but a couple of lights did not seem to have a switch(?) or maybe they needed a new bulb? Also, you had to insert and leave a key card inside a slot near the door for any lights to work at all. Also a small refrigerator would have been really nice. Lastly, the shower door was only half size so water sprayed out occasionally. The tub was super deep and slippery so we should have gotten a shower mat (which they offered at the front desk) but non slip strips in the tub would be better and safe. They were very environmentally conscious.. which was nice. Overall.... 4 stars ****

Hotel was very convenient for public transport and for the theatre district of London. Only minor criticisms. The tap on the bathroom sink was loose and the whole bedroom floor had a rather annoying creak. That said, the room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. A very enjoyable stay.

Nice clean, roomy, quiet room with super helpful and friendly staff. Excellent location close to public transportation and walking distance to many musical venues. Definitely recommend.

Good experience overall. Breakfast is not bad but could definitely be improved with more fresh veggies. Be careful with the prices on the room service menu that are not always clear (and respected).
