Pros: This hotel has a great location. You can walk to most locations within 30 minutes. If that’s too far off a walk, you have an abundance of e-bikes and e-scooters available all around the area. They have a free continental breakfast you can take advantage of in the morning before you head out on your exploration journey. Con: The hotel lobby isn’t 24 hours. They close from midnight to 7am. If you don’t make it by then, there is no one available to check you in. I didn’t ask if they have a number you can call if you come in with those hours, so it would be in the best interest to have a back up plan or contact the hotel to see if arrangements can be made. Not all rooms have A/C. If you want a room with A/C make sure to ask the hotel clerk about it when checking in. Although the time of year right now ( mid August) the room without A/C wasn’t to bad as long as you had the windows open. There were periods of high humidity, but it was tolerable. And if you’re out sightseeing during the day, it really has no effect. We didn’t get back in until 8pm, so the day and the room was cool enough. Overall it’s was a great experience and my daughter and I enjoyed it.

Made very welcome on arrival, offered sweets, bottles of cold water and a rose while waiting. Bedroom was smaller than we are used to but it is in central London so understandable. No parking nearby so consider booking a parking space via certain website 😀

Very convenient budget hotel. The staff were very nice and accommodating, the free breakfast is better than no breakfast. Convenience store is few steps away, 20min walk to London bridge and Borough Market, also nearby church and restaurants on the street about 5-10mins walk. The room is very compressed (ideal for single travelers), tight for a 2-person with luggage (in fairness, our 4 luggage was able to fit in the room but we have tight walking space. No table or microwave in the room so if you want to eat in your room, you gotta sit in the bed. There is a fridge and daily water, coffee, fruits. The bed was not the best, I found it uncomfortable but if you're not picky, this is the best place so far given a lot of pros rather than the said cons I said in this review. I would definitely stay here again by myself. The neighbor seemed safe except for some noise that is totally tolerable. We stayed for 3 nights and I can absolutely recommend this hotel for long stays. Thank you City London Hotel!

This is a modest, affordable, pleasant place to stay in a good location. Very nice staff. Renovations in progress when I was there so there was some noise, but that will soon be over. Definitely recommend it!

Pleasantly surprised. For the price this was a great stay in a decent enough location. Room was fairly basic but clean and adequate for our purposes. Bed relatively comfy, aircon/heating worked, nice to have fridge and tea/coffee facilities as well as water and fruit. Shower very small but clean and warm so did the job! Good service and friendly staff. But not that well cleaned room. Bathroom ceiling was leaking water down on the toilet paper, probably when someone in a room above took a shower. And the toilet brush might have been there since their opening in '04.

Very clean 👌 Very small All night yelling and party shouting After thought plumbing so non continuous water suppy and occasional toilet flushing. Great staff Leave in the am and don't return to your room until after room cleaning because hallways are impassable with dirty towels and bedding. Stayed 3 nights and sheets were not changed. Would not stay again.

Bedding and overall room had long black hair. I had breakfast included which I was not even mentioned about and I went at 10:00 in morning, when it finished. Blind on sky window didn't close all the way. TV was directed sideways from bed which was hard to watch.

Very good location, close to the metro, 26 minutes walk to Big Ben. The receptionist was very helpful and nice. The breakfast was ok, you can choose something. The room was small, and if I were the owners I would sometimes check the cleanliness after the cleaning ladies, because it spoils the whole opinion. I will definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and I will go back there myself.

The staff at the hotel made our stay! They were all very friendly and so helpful and kind. The rooms were clean and tidy. There were thoughtful touches of fruit, biscuits, tea and coffee. The hotel is located a 10 minute walk from Waterloo, so very convenient. We didn't sleep well as there was quite a lot of noise from other hotel residents and outside the hotel, however we were only there one night so it didn't matter. Breakfast was great, plenty to choose from and in a relaxed setting. A great price for the location.

Hotel was clean and was greeted nicely. Bed was extremely uncomfortable, hard wood frame with 3 inch thick hard mattress, if all the beds are like this I recommend not staying at this hotel. Walls are paper thin, you won’t sleep if your neighbors are awake.

The room we had was as they say compact and bijou. It had a double bed, which was up against one wall, so getting in and out meant crawling across or down the bed. Limited shelving area and desk area if you wants to work. The walls are a bit thin can hear other people, and despite two sets of windows you could also hear noise from the street outside. Those are the negatives, on the positive, free bottles of water both in the room and extra in reception, free fresh fruit put in the room on arrival, a kettle and markings, biscuits again in the room and reception and a really nice to have a fridge, so you can keep fresh milk if you want. There is a lift to all floors, which helps for those less able. The hotel is not far from either Elephant and Castle or Lambeth North, it is within 20 minute walking to St Stevens Tower now Elizabeth's Tower even for someone with a walker. We didn't make use of their breakfast offer £10 I think that is per person. Would I stay there again yes

The staff were amazing, very accommodating and friendly. It’s an older building so the walls are paper thin which unfortunately deters me from staying here again. I got woken up by other patrons being loud in the hallway and I was woken up in the middle of the night by my neighbors having sex so hard their bed was ramming the wall I shared with them. I could also hear every moan the couple made. Thankfully that didn’t last long. There is a complimentary breakfast which a perk but the options were extremely limited. It was only beans, eggs yogurt and toast. Honestly, I feel bad for leaving this poor of a review because the staff was amazing but amazing staff doesn’t out way the negatives.

Nearly a 5 Star review if only for the genuine and sincere warmth of the owners, Shahrok & Sharam who were marvellously welcoming. Sadly, i cannot give 5 stars, as though I have no reason to disbelieve the manager (Medhi) when he says that the mattresses were recently replaced and we’re all “high quality” the mattress on my bed was so hard it was akin to sleeping on a door; so I can only assume they were “high quality” DOORS.

Warm and friendly staff. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great. Staff provided cold water and snacks when we were coming and going. My only complaint would be the size of the bathroom/shower. It was way too small for our family. Everything else was 5 star worthy.

The hotel was ever so slightly out of the way (but that was why we chose it) but very easy to find and close to three tube stops as well as being just up the road from Borough Market/London Bridge and the fantastic Imperial War Museum. All of the staff were great, it was welcoming and well prepared...never stressful. The simple continental breakfast being included for all guests was a nice touch as were the free drinks and fruit. Would absolutely stay here again.

Overall, had a pleasant experience. The room and restroom were small, but we expected it due to reviews. On our first night we had an issue with water from AC pouring into the restroom from ceiling. We alerted staff and they immediately moved us to another room. I appreciated the quick response as it was a safety concern. We ate breakfast at the hotel and Mariam provided great service.

The hotel was clean and confortable, basic but with everything you need, I particularly appreciated the fruit and tea and coffee in the room. Breakfast was supposed to be continental, but was a buffet with even eggs and beens, so we were pleasently supprised. Shakam was extremely friendly and made our stay really pleasant. Thanks Shakam.

The service that the hotel and the staff especially Sharam and Sharuk provided was excellent.. we were offered complimentary buffet style breakfast, WiFi, bottled water, fruits and other amenities throughout our stay whereas other hotels in London charged us for everything.. The rooms were cleaned up every single day and all the amenities were stocked up during their each cleaning session.. New towels were also provided each day. The staff were kind and so helpful.. They were so generous to offer and help us in each aspect which we really appreciate.. Definitely hoping to come and stay here during our next trip to the London!!

The staff was really nice and helpful at City London Hotel. They made us feel extremely welcomes when my friends and I went on valentines day weekend for a girls trip. They greeted us with roses which was super sweet and easily held our luggage when we arrived early and again at the end of our trip before our later flight. Used nearby train stations for most of our trip but if it's nice out, it's not too far of a walk for the market and some sites.

Pros: - Excellent staff and service. Some of the nicest and most helpful I've encountered. Kept offering fruit, tea, water, juices whenever they saw us and checking to see that we had all we needed. Fixed a small problem with the shower head immediately. - Great location and convenient neighborhood with lots of food, drink, and transportation options. - Very good rates, all things considered. Cons: - Rooms and bathrooms are very small and cramped (and we were in a a double en suite, one of the 'larger' rooms). - Neighborhood gets noisy on the weekend, late into the night and early morning. Thin walls and windows means you hear everything outside. Overall a perfectly nice stay and we'll worth the price, but be aware of the caveats.

Great location, 10mins ish from 2 different tube stations, and plenty of bus route options within a few mins walk. Staff were excellent, free water in the room and reception was a nice touch when out for long days. Can't fault the hotel at all.

Very clean bedroom and bathroom. My room fronted onto the main street, so occasionally there was traffic noise and the occasional siren, but the building itself was very quiet. I basic buffet breakfast, which was nice, but could be made better with a selection of fruit. Walking distance to bus and metro stops. Good value, and I will be staying here again in future.

The hotel is a short walk from the Elephant & Castle underground stop, and they were able to store my luggage for me despite arriving earlier than check-in. The room was clean, and the breakfast was filling. Definitely recommend.

the room was small but okay. the bathroom was new and good. but the breakfast was not good. no english breakfast and you had to make the food yourself. thats the first time i seen that in all the hotels i lived at..
