The Clermont London, Victoria

Hotel was very convenient to the underground, train station, and bus service. It was also easy walking to Buckingham Palace and the Westminster area. Reception service was excellent. Housekeeping, while friendly, was rather spotty. For instance, garbage cans, not always emptied, towels not replaced, and sometimes mini bar not refilled. A main problem with the hotel is that although they have two elevators for guests, only one was in service, and it was small, and very busy, which sometimes led us to climb four floors of stairs to get to our room. we never took the elevator going down, because we would have to wait too long. I was told by other guest, who had been there weeks before that the elevator had not been fixed at that time either, so no progress. If you are a person with mobility issues, this elevator problem would be a major inconvenience. The hotel was beautiful and had good views of the city, and we would stay again, but we might ask if the elevator is working before we book.

Only 1 elevator working for such a huge hotel is unacceptable, especially at 400$/night. Hat to take stairs every time as waiting time too long.

Lifts being fixed but the ones working also broke down. Fire alarm (not drill or real) going off very early morning. Standard rooms very small, and a long trek to our rooms.

The location is the best feature of this restaurant. The room is small, the mattress is too soft, the room service is always delayed, also the there is a big chance you need to take stairs instead of lift because one building does not have direct lift available.

It’s 163 old and so elegant and beautiful! The architecture on both inside and out is amazing and to read about the history was mind blowing! The breakfast is buffet style and delicious. They have afternoon tea and offer drinks and small plates for late night in their beautiful bar lounge calls. The Soak

Beautiful hotel, excellent location with its own entrance to Victoria station. Staff were all top notch. Muhammed was a standout. Very helpful and friendly, and recognized us from when we stayed two weeks prior. Went out of his way. This was true of all the staff from help with luggage, check in, restaurants/bars and housekeeping. All very professional but also personable. Looking forward to our return.

Conveniently attached to Victoria Station. Easy walk to other points of interest, Tate Museum and across the street from “Hamilton” and “Wicked” theaters. In-hotel restaurant was lovely with a delicious variety of food. Lobby is exquisite and staff are helpful and delightful!

The rooms in our hotel were nice, and the staff were friendly. I appreciated some gluten free options being available at the buffet. Our big challenge is one of our party members had a room on the 7th floor, and the functioning elevator did not go that beyond the 5th. One elevator was out of service for our whole stay, which meant that the individual on the 7th floor had to walk two flights to get to her room. In additon only one elevator was available for check out and there was a significant wait for us and others to make it up or down during that time. Otherwise the staff were kind, and the hotel was beauitful, but it is difficult to overlook the issues we had.

Room was very tidy and quiet. Staff was very responsive and helpful. During our visit there was lobby construction and elevator repair that impacted the convenience of reaching upper floors.

Great reception and common areas. Typical city size rooms. Soak restaurant lovely food, drink and staff. The lift to the sixth floor was out of use whilst there so was surprised being put there. Changed to fifth floor.

Clean rooms, nice staff and great location!

I have stayed at this this hotel for over 15 years, visiting family in London. I stayed there when it was the Grosvenor and a few times since under the new name, Clermont. Frankly while the lobby looks great the room was pretty outdated, threadbare but most of all the issues were cleanliness of bedding and towels. The bedding and towels were very old, once were probably white but now, particularly the towels are yellow and rough. I'd sort of expect this from one of the B&B's down the street but those are less than half the nightly rate. This is very disappointing for what is supposed to be a luxury hotel. I made the same complaint to the survey from the hotel and management but nothing was done to rectify the situation. This is also very surprising because there are other nicer hotels in Victoria, the Rui, The Victoria Park Plaza and Citizen M, and they are typically 20%+ cheaper. These hotels also have walk-in showers, whereas the Clermont had only a tub with a short glass partition for the shower which also had a very high step-in and step-out was pretty dangerous.

This hotel is dirty. After we checked in and got in to our room, the beddings specifically the pillowcases were wrinkled giving the impression that the bed was used. And in the bathroom, the trash can was full of trash obviously from the previous clients. The Front Desk Manager named Sayed was rude and not accommodating. When we asked for a better room he said “Absolutely Not. He told us that he will send someone to empty the trash.” And that was it. Unbelievably rude! The areas around this hotel has HOMELESS PEOPLE on the street. We will NEVER STAY in this hotel ever again and will NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone.

Nice location with easy access to many touristic places like Buckingham palace etc. Hotel is gorgeous with friendly staff, especially Max and Oscar. Room was clean, but carpet was too worn down and dirty. We would stay there agan!

Fourth stay at the Clermont Victoria. Room was spotless and quiet as ever, my room request was granted without question. Staff are lovely as always. Hopefully will be back!

DO NOT STAY HERE — A PRETTY STAIRCASE AND GOOD LOCATION WITH NOTHING ELSE TO OFFER. This is not a 4-star hotel. It’s 2–3 stars at best. Our room was extremely dusty — I had to take antihistamines and was blowing out dust from my nose (TMI, but that’s the level we’re talking). We had to wipe down surfaces ourselves just to use them. The cupboard was so filthy that dust flew out every time we opened it. It clearly hadn’t been cleaned in ages. We complained on the 12th or 13th July and gave them plenty of time to address it. Nothing was done. On the 15th, we complained again and sent photos/videos. Housekeeping was sent up—and did nothing, even after we pointed out the specific areas. At one point, they tried to blame the carpet. No other hotel I’ve stayed in had this problem. If they can’t figure out how to clean carpets, either get rid of the carpet or hire new housekeeping staff. They offered to move us and refund 10–15%, which was laughable. We had evening shows booked daily and limited time in London, so moving rooms wasn’t simple. Eventually, we were offered 20% off the first two nights. I pushed for three nights, which was agreed to—but no more because “we need to make a profit.” Comfort clearly comes second here. The upgraded room was better, but the “unlimited” minibar was never restocked. We paid $4,034.43 (Wotif discount included) and were refunded $448.93. Not sure how that math worked. Also, the breakfast buffet was poor—bland, repetitive, and underwhelming.

Pros: - The rooms are spacious and larger than what you typically find in London hotels. - The location is ideal for those traveling via Southern Rail - very convenient and seamless. Cons: - While the room was relatively clean, the bathroom did not meet expectations for a hotel at this price point. For example, the inside of the toilet was stained, and there were multiple signs that the room hadn’t been thoroughly cleaned between guests. - The staff are generally polite when approached directly, but otherwise keep to themselves. There was minimal assistance at the front entrance, where stairs make access difficult. On several occasions, we had to rely on other guests or offer help ourselves to carry suitcases up and down the stairs. Although staff were occasionally stationed there, it wasn’t consistent or sufficient. - The hotel does not store luggage for more than one day. This is inconvenient if you plan a short trip elsewhere in the UK and intend to return. For example, we had a one-night trip to Bath planned and were told to use paid luggage storage at the station, which would have cost an extra £70. As a result, we canceled our second stay and booked a different hotel that was willing to store our bags, something most hotels typically offer. -While the location is great for Southern Rail access, it’s less convenient if you’re depending on the Underground. Depending on the line, some exits can be 2–3 blocks away from the hotel.

The room was very comfortable and clean. The room was much smaller than expected for the room category we paid for and the bathroom was tiny. With that said I would return as the staff was lovely and the breakfast was very nice and convenient. Also had a private door to Victoria station that made it very easy to get out the door in the AM.

Friendly staff. Bed comfortable. Excellent location. Only downfall was navigating around hotel - having to take a lift and several sets of stairs. Confusing to find my way around. Air conditioning could have been a little cooler.

Beautiful hotel and we received a lovely upgrade to a superior king room with complimentary mini bar. The room was one of the best we’ve stayed in with enormous high ceilings.

The location and private entrance into the Tube was amazing!! Room was large for London and very nice! Will stay here again.

Amazing location right near Victoria station. Hotel has a gorgeous lobby. Older historic building but very well kept up. Rooms were recently renovated, spacious, and nice. No noise as the walls are soundproof. Would definately stay here again.

The lobby is impressive, and the restaurant downstairs looks beautiful. The rooms themselves were.... just OK. We stayed in a Classic Room, and while the room was compact, it was fine. The bathroom, however, was exceptionally tiny. My hands could touch opposite walls if I stood in the middle (see pic). It's a bit difficult to navigate such a tiny bathroom (unless you're on a cruise ship or an airplane). So while the location is great, consider yourself warned!

Nice hotel. My 1-man room was a bit close to the elevator, so there was a bot of noise

Room was a little small but very clean and comfortable (very comfy beds!). Probably worth booking breakfast in advance as it was a little expensive when paid for on the day (almost £60 for two people including a 13 year-old who nibbles at best!). Very friendly and helpful staff.

The Clermont is a beautiful hotel. The lobby is gorgeous. The room itself was spacious, the bed was really comfortable and the shower was great. The reason I’ve given 4/5, knocking a point off is because the area to the right of the toilet was almost nonexistent. There was plenty of room in the bathroom to have positioned the toilet so it wasn’t so close to the wall. If we stay here again then I’d pay more to go up from a ‘classic’ room so then hopefully you’d have room to sit on the toilet more comfortably. But everything else was lovely and I would stay again.

I had NO LUGGAGE PORTERS when I arrived. Had to lug my own luggage up the steps! Hurt my back! NO LOBBY FOR CARS AT ALL!!! Very shocked at this!!! Will NEVER stay here again. It was at a friend’s recommendation that I stayed here. Everything went wrong from the get go. I regretted every minute I stayed in this hotel!!! In fact, I won’t trust Expedia reviews and reviews of this hotel ever again. Won’t be using BOTH services and platforms anymore. VERY DISAPPOINTED!! My worst London stay ever and I visit London for work twice a year. Just wanted to try different hotels each time but this was TERRIBLE!!!

Beautiful hotel in a central location. We have stayed here several times over the past couple of years. But its a pretty impersonal and cold welcome we receive. We arrived early this visit and asked for an early checkin if possible. They took our phone number and said they would call as soon as a room was ready. It was a very rainy day so we hung around the hotel and waited. When we noticed others were being checked in and given rooms, I approached a different member of staff and she said our room was ready. The original staff member was at the other desk but never called. Room was small and basic. We could hear our neighbors and those in the corridors. But its a convenient location near the train station, tube, restaurants, etc.

Check-in was nightmare. They lost my reservation and repeatedly referred me to a future reservation I had made instead of solving a simple problem. It took 30 minutes and their attitude was poor, rude and unprofessional.

We loved our stay at the Clermont. This was our first time in London and chose this hotel because of location and historic appeal. It was a perfect location to meet all transportation needs. Being close to the Victoria Coach Station with only 5 minute walk it was easy and inexpensive to travel from Heathrow. Short walk to Buckingham Palace and many nearby attractions. Annamaria checked us in and provided easy directions by the tube to reach any other desired destinations and even recommended excellent restaurants and pubs for us to visit. The decor was beautiful and well maintained. Breakfast was buffet style with all options for a full English breakfast. There was a maintenance issue that arose on our second day and the entire team was quick to remedy the situation and provide us with an unprompted upgrade and a generous treat as an apology for any inconvenience. The attached bar, The Soak, also had attentive staff with tasty libations and yummy bites. Everyone we encountered from bellman, maintenance, check-in and concierge to manager were all lovely and ready to make our experience memorable. We will absolutely visit again.

The staff was very helpful in managing a situation involving luggage that was delayed due to a weather delayed flight connection. They went far beyond what their responsibilities required. The hotel is located in a very good location for dining, walking site seeing, and for arranging transportation. We will be using this hotel for any future visits to London.

Amazing staff. Very caring and accommodating.

The location to points of interest was great. Getting around via rental bicycle was easy and fun. The parking for the hotel is something to be aware of. It’s in the metro station parking garage and didn’t feel very secure. There was only one working elevator at the time of our visit, which was a bit of a hassle at times. The bell hop upon check in was quite helpful, that’s all that we can say about helpful staff. Upon checking out with mounds of luggage, nobody on staff offered a hand.

Great Hotel, Great Location, Great Air Conditioning. About a 10 minute walk to Buckingham Palace and just outside of Victoria station (with an entrance available inside the station with a room key). Great Takeaway options available nearby for your morning coffee or quick lunch.

Fantastic stay at the Clermont. Made my stay in London very enjoyable and easy. The room and hotel were very well equipped. Good value for money. Highly recommended. Also, an elegant and historic building. Good location for Victoria. Note it is busy and loud.

We love the clermont Victoria. Have stayed there several times. Will probably return again. No complaints. We love the fact that it is basically «inside» the Victoria train station. No need to haul baggage on the subway/buss/taxi when you come/leave for the airport.

Close to Victoria Station and Buckingham Palace

We liked it's position. We especially liked having the Victoria underground station next door. We used it every day. But it is also within walking distance to Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park and many great pubs and restaurants.

Excellent location to tube and train stations. Beautiful hotel centrally located but nice and quiet.

Great location in a beautiful old building. Very convenient for walking to a lot of tourist destinations and right beside Victoria Station.

We liked this property. The price was really good. The room was big for London. Loved the free minibar items (nice touch). Air conditioning was great. It was clean. Beautiful lobby. Good restaurant attached. Easy to get places because of Victoria tube stop. High ceilings. I had a bad stay in London before at a boutique hotel so I was looking for something a bit bigger. We went with family and had 3 rooms,, son price really did matter to us. I would stay here again. And I’m REALLY picky. I think this hotel is managed well. Only small downside was that our bathroom was small. But it still had a makeup mirror, and a heated towel rack. One elevator was broken also. But it was not a huge issue. I saw them working on it too. Area is a bit bustling. But, a short walk away was a delicious Acai bowl place on a cute street in Belgravia. At across the street was a HUGE modern sports bar where we watched the F1 race on like 30 large screen TV’s (u can reserve a spot in advance). So even thought it’s not my favorite location in London, it’s super convenient with things nearby.

Beautiful building exactly as pictured. Attentive staff. Very close to major attractions - palace, museums, parks, restaurants, shops. Great food and drinks at “The Soak”. Awesome breakfast.

Beautiful hotel. Great location being so near to Victoria station. Truly enjoyed the coffee bar (Starbucks) and Soak. Our bed was comfortable. The room was well appointed. Fun snacks. Bathroom was just a bit small, but nice. The only downside was breakfast. For the price, more than just a standard English breakfast could be offered. And the hot foods were not adequately warmed in the heating tables.

Very nice classic and elegant lobby and hotel in general was very comfortable and staff was very nice. One staff member , Flora originally from Peru was very helpful and gave excellent recommendations. The only part that was disappointing was the breakfast buffet. Same every day and the quality not up to the standards of the hotel. Should add at least one prepared fresh dish like an omelette etc..

Excellent hotel in the heart of Victoria. Easy access to local amenities and theatres. Right next door to Victoria Station for ease of travel. Fantastic staff and excellent food and drinks served in The Soak. The cocktails are a must to try!

Everybody was very friendly and helpful. My room was clean and the mattress was comfortable. The food on the buffet wasn’t the greatest. They didn’t have very many TV channels available. They really need shower doors that close all the way.

Very nice hotel, great location close to the Victoria Station that takes you all over London. Full pott if breakfast would have been just a little bit nicer. Omelette / Fresh juices etc.
