Citrus Hotel Cheltenham by Compass Hospitality

The hotel is adequate, but don’t use the on site car parking. It is ridiculously tight. I tried, then used elsewhere, which was only a five minute walk away and cheaper.

Citrus is a budget hotel and as such offers exceedingly good value for money considering its position slap bang in the middle of Cheltenham. The room was clean, warm, the bed comfortable with tea-making, large TV and room safe. The self serve continental breakfast was just £5 for both of us but very comprehensive. Car parking was secure at an extra £10 for 24 hours. The only thing that let it down was the shower which in our room (210) was virtually unusable as flow was poor and very slippery with no grab handles. However the position on Wellington Street is brilliant just 2-400 metres from the High Street and the Promenade.

Surprisingly roomy and comfortable, ideally situated for the town centre being 2 minutes walk away. Underground secure parking is also a bonus. I would stay there again.

Nice location near city center so easy access to shops and dining. Lovely staff. The property definitely showed its age and some things not right in room--like soap dispenser in shower. The parking was NOT free as advertised--£10/night. There are about 10 spaces in the garage and it's pretty tight to maneuver in there.

Great place within 5 mins walking distance of the town centre. It’s not the Ritz, but you get what you pay for and the room we had was very clean. The rooms are a little tired with parts of the carpets heavily worn. The parking area is very small and could be an issue if you have a larger vehicle.

Check in was super easy. We arrived earlier than expected but were able to access our room. Location is excellent and an added bonus of secure parking. One little thing we only had 1 pillow each and would have preferred 2, but apart from that great stay. Didn't have breakfast.

The hotel has a great location with underground parking for £10 a night (tight spaces so careful if you have a big car). Staff were very helpful and friendly. Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable - a great, value hotel with everything we needed. Would stay again.

Hotel room was basic and had a banana left in their by previous occupant.Not much parking available and it was a tight squeeze to fit into the underground parking area.

We enjoyed our stay at the citrus hotel. It was very convenient situated in the city centre within walking distance of all amenities. Plenty of eating out options around you. Parking at the hotel is limited but around the corner is a 24 hour car car with reasonable pricing.

The location of the hotel is so convenient because is just close to High Street, shops and restaurants. The hotel has parking and is very easy to find.

Poor hotel very dirty no clean sheets

The hotel needs updating there was mould in the bathroom and the room was dirty

So i got to the hotel and i booked a suite the bed still had the same sheets from the person before The mattresse was falling apaprt They gave me a full refund but honestly cant recommend

The staff are friendly and accommodating; the rooms are remarkably spacious (even if not impeccably clean due to lack of daily housekeeping since Covid); and the hotel location is excellent -- walking distance from the town center, the town hall, the Everyman's theatre, and the pubs/restaurants. For travelers who are not overly fussy, this will be a comfortable hotel to stay at. If staying longer than a couple of days, you can request a room clean and a change of linen. Also, staff at reception usually hand out clean towels and other toiletries as needed. I hope this helps!

Clean spacious rooms

The hotel appeared dirty and had an odd smell. The room itself was not very nice. The windows were saturated with condensation which made the windowsill soaking wet which caused a damp environment. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and had a huge dip on one side. Also having a double room the beds pushed together was uncomfortable. The room was not clean, dirt on the bathroom floor and sink. The room was full of dust and grime.

The hotel was dirty & mouldy. Found a nail clipping by the bed so God knows when the carpets were last cleaned. Dust on every surface and mould around the windows. Bathroom was mouldy and not very clean. Staff at front desk very helpful and polite.

Room was dirty , the duvet smelled of sweat and the carpet was filthy. Fi xtures and fittings were broken.

The hotel was ok but the bathroom was a bit grubby sadly.

Clean room and comfortable bed, right in the middle of town. On street parking and friendly staff. Windows, however, are paper thin so you can hear everything going on in the street, which isnt great at 2am.

Good hotel close to all amenities. Room comfy, great shower 😊 only issues curtains don’t cover length of windows, parking is first come, first served! And if you’ve got a room roadside it’s noisy! I did ask for a quiet room, away from the road.

Nice convenient location. Biggest downside is the noise, rooms seriously need sound proofing. Can hear your neighbours every move, which is the only downside to this property. Rooms are clean, functional and bed comfy.

Clean room, sheets and towels, but the mattress was awful. Really, thin, lumpy and hard and should have been replaced years ago. Only has 1 pillow which was not the best, and should also have been replaced a long time ago. Not the best experience and was not impressed at all.

When we arrived at the hotel we checked in easily and were located on the 4th floor which was no problem at all. When we entered the room we found it to be freezing cold. We could not see out of the window due to it being soaking wet with puddles of water on the window sill. There was a heater in the room that had not been switched on but was working. The spotlight above the television was hanging out of the ceiling and we also found that the sink in the bathroom did not drain away. The beds were comfortable and we experienced a good nights sleep with very little noise. On leaving the property there was a broken tile on the steps which I slipped on twice. There was a cone when we arrived to highlight where not to step but this was often either not in the right place or missing completely. The breakfast area had tables and chairs that were all plastic and felt a bit like a canteen but the breakfast itself was perfectly adequate.

It was quiet and the check-in process was easy.

The staff are so helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend staying here.

Good: room was fine, very comfortable bed, cleaner was friendly. Acceptable budget hotel. Bad: desk clerk told me the parking charge was £8 but when I returned with the car later he tried to charge me £10. I didn’t fall for it. Maybe I should give him the benefit of doubt but I got the feeling it was deliberate. No apology was forthcoming.

Our room stank of cigarette smoke. The night manager agreed but just shrugged

This has probably the least inviting entrance to any hotel I’ve ever visited and the ground floor has an institutional feel to it. When I arrived, the reception staff were friendly and very helpful but strangely, when I came to check out, the same person who had checked me in just processed my payment without any other interaction and when I walked away with a thanks and goodbye, neither of the two people on the desk said a word. So, a bit more to do there then. When I went up to the first floor, the institutional feel was replaced with that of a hotel. My room was a good size and light; the bed was big and comfortable; everything was clean and colour-co-ordinated but the whole effect was ruined by a battered desk and a plastic chair that I wouldn’t want in my garden. Apart from that, the room had everything I wanted and was quiet at night. Breakfast is classed as Continental but wasn’t really what you’d get on the continent – basically, it was cereal, croissants, bread, yoghurt and fruit. Although the staff were very efficient at clearing away and cleaning, there was very little in the way of exchanging pleasantries with the customers. Parking was in an underground, secure car park, which costs extra. The location was very convenient for the High Street, pubs and restaurants and the Town Hall area. So a bit of a mixed bag but when it comes down to it, was it value for money? Yes, I have no problem on that score. Would I stay there again? Yes, absolutely.

Able to check in early. Friendly staff. Lovely room. Onsite parking. Another pillow each would have been good but it didn't detract from our overall stay.

i was told i did t have a booking on that night and was turned away, I ended up sleeping in a bush

A very basic hotel, no fridge, no slipper, no teeth brush, no room service unless requested. However regarding its price I have no more complaint about these. A value for money hotel to be recommended for budgeted traveller.

Liked that to get access to the rooms you needed the card to gain access. Also the breakfast was good value for money.

good location close to town, rooms good size, could do with some bread rolls with breakfast only toast available

We arrived and the first room we was out Into was room 109 it was filthy there was black bits in the bathroom draws and dust well was Thick and everywhere so we approached front desk and complained immediately they said we could move and agree with us and upgraded us to a suite upon the second floor 217 loverly clean room But problems struck again the heating didn’t work and the staff couldn’t get it to work In the words basil faulty it was flue bard so a portable Heater was given to us after three hours and kept On the room was kind of a tick ( But which room Don’t have plug sockets next to the bed I Thought this was stupid but the rest of the room was great laid out well as.
