The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. However, the pillows are in dire need for an upgrade. And the bathroom could use a renovation. The hotel is very convenient for attending the theater at the Shakespeare Festival, and is also a short walk to all of the area restaurants. In addition, it was very convenient to have two free, electric car chargers in the parking lot.

The property was clean and the staff was very nice and accommodating. Drawback is for the price of this stay. I would’ve expected a little better quality material or updated fixtures such as a comfort height toilet in the bathroom or an exhaust fan. The bedding was adequate, but not very user-friendly due to the materials chosen. And pretty much everything just felt a little dated and used and in need of an upgrade.

The hotel is well situated in Ashland. That is the best thing about it. There are several buildings. Mine was across the street from the check-in office. The room was clean as far as it goes....but the physical layout of this motel-like structure allowed us to hear every passer by on the way to their room. We could hear every conversation. We could hear every footstep above. We could hear every flush of the toilet from other units. So the physical design of the place is poor ...no matter how well attended the rooms. As for the amenities I will say that there is no gym...they referred me to another hotel 5 miles away. There was a free breakfast fit for an inmate with single-serve cereal packets... a hot tray of scrambled eggs that seemed from a pre-mixed carton of eggs... and the coffee was as average as any chain restaurant's coffee could be. My wife says the apple was good. There were individually processed pre-wrapped hard -boiled eggs. (It would have cost the same to just boil a dozen eggs and place them in a bowl...and that would not have the ick-factor of a factory-wrapped hard-boiled egg...) I am not a difficult customer. The place was average in all metrics. That it was not hellish is the brightest selling point. I would not stay there again.

We loved our stay at The Bards Inn. Great location, impressive continental breakfast options, clean rooms and cozy beds. We would choose this place again and again.
