The main reason I booked this hotel was because they had a shuttle services to the airport. However, when I checked in I was informed the vehicle was in the shop! It costed me around $40.00 dollars to get to the airport by taxi....but with my dollar it was almost $80.00 dollars. So if you need transportation to the airport I would not suggest this hotel, If I knew what I know how about getting to the airport, I would would have stayed closed to the ole and new Edinburgh areas which are closer to the train and buses systems.

Opted to stay at the Dakota due to its close proximity to Edinburgh airport, Queensferry, parking/airport shuttle, and offered better pricing than hotels closer to the airport. The hotel is modern with a hip vibe and decor, low lighting which took a little getting used to. Rooms were nice, comfortable and energy efficient. Plenty of USB ports and usual amenities - coffee/tea, ironing board, hair dryer, and warm towels! Very good restaurant - continental breakfast buffet included in price but can order full Scottish breakfast, eggs benedict from menu. Dinner was excellent. Dining room is on the small side so definitely recommend booking dinner reservations. It's about a 15-20 minute walk to the village of S. Queensferry - sadly didn't have time to get down there as it's supposed to be quite charming with lovely views of the bridges and hotel receptionist advised there were some good restaurants/pubs from which to enjoy the views. We returned our rental car a day early and booked the airport shuttle for our flight home. Couldn't have been a nicer experience. Definitely recommend as an airport hotel option especially if you have a day or so to do some local exploring. Edinburgh is a 25 min taxi ride, and bus stop is 1-2 minute walk.

Good basic airport hotel. Morning airport shuttle begins at 6am -- pre-book at the desk. Restaurant has good food, but very, VERY expensive compared with all other places we dined during our 3 week travels around Scotland.

Excellent location for a morning flight out of Edinburgh. Used the free shuttle to the airport, which was perfect. Very comfortable bed and room. Nice restaurant/bar and breakfast available for purchase, although we didn't use that. Extremely friendly staff.

The Dakota is modern and clean if a little dark and not terribly convenient for the airport. However, I booked the hotel because it boasted an airport transfers from 6am until 10pm. Unfortunately when I tried to reserve transfers 48 hours in advance as requested for 7:30am, I was informed that the transfers only ran from 10am on the day we needed them. Extremely disappointing!!

Always lovely to come back here - annual visitors, however room standards starting to show some wear & tear; shower grout needs attention, bedroom chairs fabric showing age and stains Beautiful toiletries and linens Reception welcome very basic, no explanation of services available, breakfast not offered, check out time not confirmed etc We will come back as we love the hotel, but just not the usual experience on this occasion

Building is modern with a good price. It’s very dark in common areas and rooms. Staff wasn’t unfriendly but not friendly either. Room had not been cleaned thoroughly- we found an old wrapping in the toilet area- dust on shelves.Big Grocery store a very short walk.

Stained carpets. Bedside table hanging off wall. Stained sheets. Dirty table. WiFi dropping out frequently. Flickering lightbulbs. Someone tried to open my door late at night which was terrifying as a lady travelling alone. . Very miserable stay and won’t be back.

This could be a great hotel and we would stay again but at the prices charged for the rooms everything has to be first class - and it’s not. There are signs of wear and tear everywhere. Our room door looked like it had been broken into at some point and poorly repaired. The paintwork has scuff marks and the shower leaked across the bathroom floor ( yes the door was closed properly). Public spaces seemed ok but a bit tired. The staff are fantastic.

Clean place. Not close to the heart of Edinburgh but an easy drive in. Close local restaurants and nice to be out of the huddle and bustle in the evening time. Very close to the airport. Weird WiFi situation where you have to have the TV on to access the WiFi, but they said they would be updating that soon.

The WiFi only works with the TV on. No way to darken screen etc so impossible to catch up with emails while your partner sleeps. Why??? No recycling Towels changed rather than reused All sockets for charging on only one side of the bed. Largely excellent but very overworked front desk staff - one person for check-in and concierge. Very helpful and friendly but needed to wait 10 minutes to ask a simple question. Well lit rooms but hotel surprisingly dark in hallways. Great shower and bath sheets. Good size bed but very squeaky mattress well past its best before date. Town is quaint but not particularly walkable from hotel.

Our tv didn't work, had to call down. Our room keys didn't work had to go down and get new ones. We only had one hand towel, which was annoying, Our stay was short. Seems overpriced but everything is Scotland coming from the US is overpriced. Restaurant was very good and great vibe, yet pricey. All in all, it was a nice room compared to some inns we stayed at during our trip, and large enough. We only booked because it was near enough to the airport. If you're from the US, it's more like a nice Sheraton of Hilton.

We stayed in the junior suite. Was lovely and clean and smelled amazing the reed diffuser in our room was a lovely touch. We had a fully stocked fridge which was complimentary, vodka, gin, wine, lager, water, crisps and chocolate bars. Molton Brown in the bathroom. Bathrobes, slippers. Lovely corner seating area, plenty plug socks the most I've ever seen in a hotel room. Great size mirrors. We can't wait to return.

The property was lovely and the dining was good. Our issue was the heat in the room - the air could not be turned on so it was incredibly hot. The staff did not offer to let us change rooms. The front desk eventually gave us a fan but the night was miserable.

The stay started with check-in and we were told breakfast was included. I usually don’t eat breskfast, but since it was included I went down in the morning for a cup of coffee. On check-out, I was charged £19 for the coffee since it turned out breakfast never was included. Limited options for dinner and a service charge added without prior notice. Over all expensive without reaching up to the level expected. Never again.

Our only complaint was how long it took to get a drink in the bar. Waitress took our order, but it took almost 15 minutes to actually get our drinks. We were the only people in the bar. We were going to have a few drinks, but after the wait we finished our drinks and left.

They lost my pre-paid booking and charged me a second time for the room. On top of that, they gave me avtwin room instead of a double. I assumed it was my mistake, but it was them. I'm so annoyed that I had to sleep in a twin room and pay twice for the priveledge. What a shambles.

The reason we booked was location to airport and shuttle service, however they don’t offer shuttle services on the weekend. The snarky check in girl let me know that it was on the website but I needed to click through several pages to find it. What?!?

Check in was quite delayed. We arrived about 5 minutes before the official check in time and the room wasn’t ready and we had to wait another half our or so. The service in the bar and restaurant was quite slow

The hotel is modern and clean. The staff was courteous. The hotel is a 15 ride from the airport. I booked the room because it said shuttle on the hotels.com website. When I asked about the shuttle, I was told it was not in service that week and they could order a cab for me. There are no dining areas within walking distance of the hotel. If I needed to stay at a hotel near Edinburgh airport, I would opt for one closer.

Great hotel, but uber to the city center to meeting points for tours and such was roughly 30 pounds each way. So 60 pounds daily. It’s about 8 miles but takes 30-45 min depends on traffic.

The Dakota Edinburgh was clean, comfortable and cozy. The plus is that it was next to a grocery store for other items, and next to a bus stop for easy access to Edinburgh. The restaurant was excellent as well. Everyone was very friendly and I would stay again.

The hotel was lovely and comfortable. The staff was very friendly. It was a little bit farther from the airport then I thought, but they have a shuttle service that will take you to the airport. You just need to book your spot in advance. The hotel was within walking distance to the village of South Queensferry and made for a nice afternoon of site seeing.

Loved my stay here,room was lovely,very clean,all staff lovely,quick check in,had a meal in the bar area,my waiter Couper was very polite and charming,food was superb. Breakfast,I had the continental choice,not much there for me,maybe introduce rolls/other bread? I had yoghurt/ fruit and toast.Not much for the £10 I paid each morning. Overall,beautiful reception area with the xmas decorations display.Caitlyn offered me a take away coffee,so nice of her. I will be back in January ☺️☺️

Spent one night at the Dakota prior to flying home. Arrived after 9:30 pm and was disappointed to find no food service available on site. Was further disappointed that we were not permitted to eat food delivered in the empty common areas. Instead had to eat in one of our rooms.
