This was our third year in a row staying at this hotel. We always receive a friendly welcome from the reception staff and they are keen to make us feel comfortable and enjoy our time there. Very convenient location, bus stop right outside the front door. Short walk to Dalston Kingsland over ground station.

Stayed 1 night

We stayed in room LG03 and unfortunately found the experience disappointing overall. As soon as we entered the room there was a noticeable mouldy or damp smell, which remained unpleasant throughout our stay. The biggest issue, however, was the noise overnight. From around midnight through to approximately 3am, we were repeatedly disturbed by people returning to their rooms and doors opening and closing in the corridor. This went on intermittently for a few hours and made it difficult to get a proper night's sleep. There were a few other issues that added to the impression that the room and surrounding area needed more attention. When we filled the iron with water, it leaked heavily from the sides and then tripped the fuse, which was concerning. The hallway outside also had a strangely unfinished appearance, with what looked like exposed underlay rather than proper flooring. The pillows were very firm and lumpy, and the view from the room was simply of a backstreet wall and railing. For £175 a night, the overall standard didn't feel in line with what we would expect for the price. Had the room been closer to £95–£110, many of these shortcomings would have felt easier to accept, but at £175 the combination of the smell, noise, maintenance issues, comfort and poor outlook made the stay feel overpriced.
