Generally very dated and old carpets. Lifts did not work and had to walk up to 5th floor with suitcases and each time we went to the room. No help from staff. Room refurbished but bathroom had no heating at all. Not even the towel rail. Lounge areas cold too. Service friendly.

The Grand is an iconic hotel with lots of character, but is now looking a little tired in places…chipped paint, thick layers of paint, dented wood / door frames, worn carpets (in high traffic areas), dated bathrooms..etc, hence there is a multi million pound refurbishment plan in place…to bring it back into the spotlight as the top hotel in Brighton. But the rooms are of good size, huge beds, everything is of good quality and the staff are excellent, from the very curtious door staff to the breakfast crew. We have been coming here for years and particularly like the atmosphere at Christmas, with the enormous Christmas tree and decorated spiral bannister…

The location of the hotel was great just a short stroll to the beach shops and restaurants. It’s an old building and parts were looking tired but the rooms were lovely and clean with comfortable beds. The bathrooms were clean spacious and fitted out to a really nice standard - we had a fabulous time - only negative was price of parking at local NCP and it would be nice if the customers could get discounted parking

Every thing was excellent parking £40 a night but greeted by very friendly helpful butlers dressed in bowler hats Rupert bare trousers. Very cool. I figured if i had not driven and caught the train it would have worked out very expensive . Had a lovely meal in the cyan restaurant and a wonderful weekend. The weather was crap.but we still got to the lanes shopping and donatellos in the evening. I highly recommend the grand.... dressed in bkooky outfits.

Horrendous. This was utterly horrible. First room had MOULD. Second room had moth infestation. Also there’s zero air con. You can see how this place was literally knocked up from an old house with zero thought for the comfort of the guests. Just horrible. You had to have the windows open as no are con. Then at 5.00am someone is outside banging metal against metal and then more noise from the bins. Then at 7.00M rancid oil fumes from the kitchen. It was farcical. Got no sleep. They pretend they are a four star hotel standard, but they actually have zero star rating. Ask them! Nice staff but they have no agency as the manager and owners are AWOL.

We had a standard room, which was fine for what we needed for a two night stay, the room was comfortable and clean. The only issue was the shower, it did not drain properly and as the shower screen did not cover the whole of the side of the shower, we ended up with all water over the bathroom floor. The buffet breakfast was o.k, there were lots of options but unfortunately on both mornings some of the food was cold. The first morning we had a nice table by the window, the second day we sat further back along the wall, the tables here are quite squashed together and there is not much space to get in and out if you are sat against the wall, as the tables are close to each other you do not really get any privacy either, the people on the tables either side can hear your conversations. All the staff we dealt with were friendly especially the man who was working behind the bar on Saturday night.

Besutiful hotel. Cleanliness is extremely important for me - The Grand can not be faulted. Air conditioning in bedroom a bit tricky to get right. A double room but actually 2 single beds pushed together. Some people might prefer a "proper" double, worth checking that before booking.

Booked a suite. Arrived early, asked if any chance to get a room earlier because of travelling a lack of sleep. Told, the would call us if possible. No call.. sat at reseption… at 2pm asked again, reply was ”no it is 4pm”. Sat there and watched many guests check in at 2.30. We spoke to the manager and she was no help, just adamant, It turns out, you pay for a suite and you are left till last, so book a normal room, pay less and enjoy your room more. Cleaning: Room was not cleaned properly. Hair and crumbes everywhere. Carpet was taped in the main area with duck tape. Breakfast: no fresh pressed orange juice. Carton juice..cheap.. All ingredients poor. We were assigned a table by the window. Next morning different table. No order to service. This is certainly not THE GRAND

Top-notch place to stay. Fantastic value for money for an atmospheric stay at the historic Grand hotel. We had two spacious well furnished and spotlessly clean rooms. Incredible shower! We booked interior rooms with no view but they both still had windows that let natural light in so they were perfect for what we needed. The staff were friendly and helpful and the service impeccable. We had tea in the lounge and dinner in the hotel which was delicious. The Grand is perfect try located for the wonders of the seafront and town. Highly recommend.

Lovely hotel lobby, beautifully decorated for Christmas, a lovely ‘looking’ bar and great breakfast but unfortunately we were given a very tatty dirty rundown room. We notified the staff at reception who were very helpful and got a member of staff to show us a different room which was an improvement but unfortunately still tired in areas and the carpet didn't look clean. We booked a last minute stay as a birthday treat and were so disappointed as the room didn’t live up to the reputation and what was advertised. After Covid the one thing you do expect is cleanliness. To no fault of the staff, they advised us they were very understaffed which caused long wait times and a crop in service level. My husband was quite disappointed that the majority of beers weren’t available so we ended up going elsewhere for drinks and dinner. It is such a shame as the hotel has such potential to be amazing but we aren’t in a hurry to return. Many thanks to the reception staff for their help in changing rooms.

Loved my two night stay. My room was one of the newly renovated rooms and it was lovely. I was on the fourth floor. Looks as if they are working their way around the rest of the hotel but there was no noise or disruption. Big, old rooms with terrible beds. They are advertised as king size, but they’re two mattresses pushed together, so if you’re a single sleeper, you’ll distinctly feel the gap in the middle. Very uncomfortable given the price. They also have the strangest room keys I have ever seen, with no explanation as to how they work upon check in. I had to go back down to reception and have one of the staff come with me to open the door, and even she struggled lol. Plus sides - the breakfast was excellent, the location is ideal, and it’s pretty historic, so taking the stairs is always worth it if you can. Hotels in the UK tend to be pretty bog standard, with fewer / lower customer service standards than other countries, and this hotel is right up there with the rest of them.

We chose a beach front room, parking was not free but booked knowing space was limited. The room (218) was stunning, beautifully appointed, clean roomy, nicely decorated with access to a lovely balcony. The staff were all great, very accommodating and we felt looked after incredibly well this was our second stay at this hotel, the previous time 11 years ago when we got engaged. The hotel isn't cheap so there were a few things that could be improved. The breakfast is good overall however, the coffee is bland as is the orange juice. It really should be better. The room cleaning was not up to scratch. The staff didn't clean cups that had been used, they didn't restock the water and milk either. The Cyan restaurant was good, the staff excellent however, the food is basic and not in keeping with the image the hotel portrays and in all honesty for the basic food on offer, it is over priced. These three things did not stop us enjoying our weekend.

The Grand trades on its name and historic presence on Brighton seafront. The staff are amazing, attentive and across the board from checking in, front of house, bar, waiting and housekeeping. My let down was I booked a double and had a twin cobbled together pretending to be a double. The hotel wasn’t fully booked so no idea why they would still do this and the view was of a brick wall! Avoid 309. Evening was chilled in the bar area and staff, ambient was really relaxing. Breakfast was excellent as were the staff. Hotel is a little tired but expected with age. Hilton up the road feels a little more up to date. The only let down was being sold a room as a double and being a twin bolted together and a view they should pay you to absorb! Bit of a let down and will stick with the Hilton going forward.

It’s a shame as the hotel is iconic and beautiful. Perfect location. Check in was OK although 1 of the rooms in a party was not available until after 4pm

We had a room which my husband found very noisy and I asked to be moved and the reception staff where excellent we where moved to another room which was very quiet and he slept a lot better. Dropped off bags in the morning (as we had a spa booking). Asked at reception if room ready at 2. No, it wasn’t, but “would be ready before 4”. Asked another member of reception staff if we could get our bag, only to be told it was in our room that was very much ready. I hope the original woman at check in was happy with her power trip ‘win’. At check out, the guy in the reception area was more engrossed with the conversation with a colleague than to smile or say good morning/hello. Service aside, we had a nice stay. The newly refurbished room was clean and comfortable. Due to the service levels, we wouldn’t stay at this property again.

Loved the hotel, the location, and the beautiful architecture. I upgraded to an ocean view, which may have been a mistake—lots of hooting and hollering outside my window until 2 or 3 a.m. I get that this is Brighton and people want to party, but damn! The next morning made it pretty clear the streets had been well-celebrated. That said, I’d definitely stay here again—just won’t go for the ocean view next time!

We had a magnificent ocean view with a huge balcony. Bed was comfortable. Room was very large and well maintained. Hotel is directly across from the beach. It is in walking distance to many great restaurants. Uber or taxis easy to get from front of hotel. Staff was helpful and very friendly. Only downfall was we ate in the bar area. The service and food took forever. When it did arrive it was awful. Unfortunately, I don't recommend eating in this hotel. Everything else was amazing!!!

We stayed in a unmodernised room I'm sure when all rooms are finished it will be marvellous. Breakfast is in a dark room with very bad lights. No poached eggs, coffee from a machine , where was the service, most of the staff were ok Big thank you to the doorman.

Absolutely the best hotel I have stayed in England! Check in fab, hotels.com gave us a b upgrade to a sea view which was amazing because it was my husbands 50th then the hotel gave us a drink at the bar on them for is birthday, the breakfast outstanding! Show cooking omelettes fresh salmon smoothies etc amazing, staff lovely place so clean and decor beautiful we loved every minute it just went too fast everyone described it as a smaller version of the ritz
