Pretty hotel in centre of Chester. Main attraction is the swimming pool which is very nice. The kids had fun for hours. Main drawback is inadequate parking so very stressful if you arrive when it's full and have to hang around waiting for someone to leave. Has electric car charging points but some people park in these spots out of desperation and it isn't monitored. Chris on reception was amazing, so friendly and helpful. All the staff were friendly, even the cleaners. The restaurant has a very nice breakfast buffet with a good range on offer but nothing for vegans. Michael went the extra mile and got the kitchen to make something suitable. The chef Joe used my own pancake recipe to make me vegan pancakes. So appreciate the extra effort from both these members of staff. Dinner service was very disorganised - so waited too long for our order to be taken and then for dessert to be ordered and finally for the table to be cleared and eventually had to go to the desk to ask for the bill a second time. Again nothing for vegans and no flexibility to make things fresh without cheese, etc. But appreciated the flowers on the tables and friendliness of staff. The food was very good.

Great stay. We were glad we got a train, as it looked difficult to get a parking space if you arrived around 3pm for check-in! The pool was amazing and we really enjoyed it! Was the best part of the hotel. The beds were also very comfy

The main reason for booking this hotel was to meet family and have drinks in the bar but there was no draught lager so we were forced to drink bottles which I don’t like!

Generally a nice overnight stay. A little dated, not sure exactly made my room 'superior'. Staff were great. All draught beers were 'off' at the bar which was a little disappointing. Fabulous location for Chester centre.

Nice room, nice pool, shame spa pool was closed on our visit. Great location for city centre and shopping, lovely staff. Have booked again in Dec for the Christmas Market and shopping.

Check in was good and parking was easy with access straight in to hotel. Car park for hotel is private so feels quite secure. The room was unfortunately very disappointing. It really needs an update as very old fashioned. They have tried to keep up with modernisation by installing a large lcd tv which unfortunately was only partially visible from the bed. The biggest disappointments were the cleanliness and the lack of soundproofing. We had some items to put in the fridge and were surprised to open the door to find the rear of fridge with numerous black mould spots. This was also the case on the tiles in the shower (actually a bath you stand in with a shower in it). The basin surround had black mould below the rim behind the tap and one of the hand towels supplied was stained and torn. We had three nights in this hotel and slept badly for two as you could literally hear everything from the surrounding rooms. I stay in approximately 100 hotels per year, including other Crowne Plazas and this hotel was not what I expected from the brand. Most certainly not 4 star where the room is concerned compared to other hotels. On a positive note to finish all of the staff that we came in to contact with were excellent, very polite and friendly.

Me and my sister have had a 3 night easter weekend stay. The hotel is lovely and clean and has a lovely fragrant smell as you enter the lobby. The staff are friendly and helpful, nothing is a problem. The food is good and there is a lovely bar where you can relax and enjoy your drink, and we both had an amazing spa day. The hotel is 10 mins by taxi from the station, but is central for all you want to see and do. There are plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants. The zoo is 15 mins by taxi and was worth the trip. A most enjoyable day out. A most enjoyable weekend.

Disappointed from arrival. No car parking spaces at the hotel even though the car park said spaces. Car park was very tight casing me to kerb my alloy wheel on arrival. Once parked off site the check in took 35mins. 18 people in the queue to check in before us all complaining. No sorry from reception. Room was terribly dated, dirty and noisy as the windows are old and don’t reduce the road noise. On top of the poor service we only had one towel in the bathroom for 2 people??? Very poor and very brand damaging. I will never stay in a crown plaza again.

A fine place to stay, location is great. The hotel itself though seems a little run down, rooms could possibly do with a little bit of a spruce up. Everything was clean and working but you can tell its probably due a freshen up some time soon.

Staff were all kind and helpful. Easily the hotels best attribute. Our room was a slight disappointment, with the view facing closed buildings and alleys. I'd probably ask for a room on the opposite side for a beautiful landscape view. The room felt in need of a refresh and livening up, but we did so much we really only showered and slept. Which were accommodated without issue.

It was unseasonably warm but the air conditioning was useless. Noisy but totally ineffective. We left the curtains closed and a window open to try to reduce the heat but housekeeping had opened the curtains and closed the window. Still the air con did nothing. On the first night I had a steak, which was ok. However no one in the hotel seems to have heard of mustard! My request for French mustard was met with denial then panic and ended up with being given whole grain - which was pointless. The second night, half the main courses were ‘off’. If we’d had the strength we would have walked out. Our booking, made with the maitre’d, had also disappeared! Overall the hotel was adequate, well located and with a good car park.

Positives: Very well located for centre of city. Large tidy rooms Clean fresh looking hotel Polite staff Negatives Except for in the room, the rest of the Hotel was cold with the air conditioning on. Nearly everyone had their coats on! The car park is a little small, I needed to wait until someone left so I could get a space. Long wait at the bar (understaffed)

Good hotel position in relation to the city centre. Just the answer for where we needed to be. We had lost our bank cards, but with a call at reception the receptionist made a call to Chester cathedral. The cards had been found. Absolutely perfect experience…….thank you.

We booked this to meet up with family/friends not seen for years and years, perfect place and room was found for them too at short notice, restaurant made room even though they had a big party, food excellent, Special mention to Raj our waiter who went over and above with excellent service .also our friend had a birthday the next day & at breakfast this was made really special with cake/candles etc. really recommend we will be back

Excellent hotel in the heart of the city centre. Only a short walk to many of the major attractions. The rooms in the hotel are large and very comfortable. There was a huge choice at breakfast and the possibility to order additional items like kippers! Only downside at the hotel is the cost of parking at £17 a night!

Hotel in a great location for Chester city centre, but lacking in several areas. The room had a King Size bed which was good but the under covers were to small and did not fit so made bed uncomfortable (see picture). We had made reservation at hotel to eat on both nights of our stay and menu had a good choice, we both ordered steaks and when they arrived were of a small size and clearly been cooked in the microwave which you can tell by the colour, were over cooked and had 'sears' lines' clearly added by touching a hot grill pan or similar. we mentioned this to the waiter who told us that they were using a lot more frozen food as it was cheaper and reducing the use of fresh ingredients to maintain profit margins and speed up cooking times etc. - not a good move. We cancelled the restaurant for the following night and ate in Chester centre, 5 mins walk. On checking out we the guy on reception asked if we had enjoyed our stay but did not listen to our reply as clearly he just expected us to say 'yes it was great' but he did hear us say 'your not listening' to which he replied I have an ear infection and can't hear! Why would you put an employee on reception that is a prime interface with your customers to check in/out if they can't hear properly? Overall a disappointing performance by Crowne Plaza Hotels on this occasion. On a good note the team in the Spa were excellent.
