Room was fine, breakfast was good but we booked a spa treatment and when we arrived the booking times had been messed up so we weren’t able to have the treatment. The previous days had all been fully booked so we weren’t able to attend the spa during our stay, which was a main reason for picking this hotel.

the breakfast was quite nice however it took some time to replenish the food as individual items ran out.the hotel was really nice as was our twin room and we enjoyed the pool soon after we arrived.but was nt happy paying £12-00 for parking when it would have been free if we had booked direct with the hotel.this is something that you don t tell customers and should address.overall the hotel was great value for money for what we paid apart from the charge for parking.

Good value, very clean, excellent facilities, a bit dated in areas but it’s fair to say that’s reflected in the price. The breakfast staff were great, absolute grafters! The leisure facilities were spot on although you are sharing with non guests so it was quite congested.

Great location 5 min walk to the shops etc with staff who are really friendly and helpful. Large gym and soa facilities Air con would make the hotel so much better as the room was so hot- fans are provided but they make little difference Buffet breakfast is a great start to the day!

1st time stay here for one night. Room ok clean but dated. Overlooking the canal.Large comfy bed quiet outside. Rooms not soundproof. Had a drink in the bar which was reasonably priced and a nice area. Staff very pleasant. We used the swimming pool when we arrived which was quite a large pool. Only issue pool towel given was very thin and i struggled to dry myself properly. Hotel a very short walk into main shopping area/ bars etc. Breakfast good choice of items. Parking £12 from check in till next day midday only ( not full 24hrs). Would i stay again- probably yes

Service is good. Room's window can't close and stong wind blow the window up and down, that make me hard to fall asleep.The room is clean. Limited options for breakfast. Gym, swimming pool, steam room are good. Good for relaxing.

Fantastic hotel to stay in. Very clean and tidy everywhere. Room spacious and I was so glad there was a bath. Staff very friendly and helpful. The swimming pool, sauna, whirlpool and steam room were excellent. Breakfast was lovely and a good choice of food. Easy walk from the train station. Just a few minutes. Plus an easy walk into town too. Again not to far on foot.

It’s in a walkable location to a halal BBQ restaurant, shopping areas n the new bus station. Good choices for breakfast n with the menu at the restaurant n the lounge. However some problems were noted when we checked in - stains on coffee mugs in the room, the portable fan in the room was full of dust n the heater was also dusty. A staff member did try to correct these problems but the fan was still dusty even after he had cleaned it! So he brought us another fan. I just covered up the heater with a towel so I don’t have to breathe in the dust! Clearly, housekeeping needed to do a thorough cleaning. Otherwise our stay was alright. Also, the staff did offer us another room for easier access to the shower, however, it was besides the main road n noisy, so we declined the offer - thank you though for listening n trying!

Breakfast was like eating at the worst service station on the motorway.staff unhelpfull espe ially at reception. Room so dusty. Fan in room looked as if not been used for such a long time, coveted in dust.Did not work. Told reception who said would sort it but never did.

Room was quite dirty and basic. I shared photos with the General Manager who was sympathetic said that it was unacceptable and would be putting it right. It’s a shame as the public areas are in good order. I would describe the hotel as a bit tired and needing upgrades but no excuse for dirty switches, room furniture and rusty pedal bins.

We appreciated the free upgrade to a bigger room but the bathroom was still in the 90's..! The shower was either scalding hot or freezing cold and kept falling away from the holder it was on so had to practically crouch under the shower head. Apart from that it was a nice quiet 2 night stay, with shops within walking distance. Parking was safe and secure for £12 per 24 hours.

Just a one night stay during the Chester Xmas market period. We had a business king room in the original Mill building. Canal view and room size was great. Ensuite whilst clean and adequate in need of a spruce up. (Over bath shower curtain pole frll down, door was badly fitted and hard to close and no shelf.) Breakfast was well organised and food fantastic but didn't like having to pre-book a timed entry slot. Hotel well positioned for a 10 mini walk to the shops. Pool and spar was a great bonus and very relaxing.

I booked 3 business class rooms and only one was like the picture shown on website. One room especially was really bad. The bed mattress was in a terrible state with broken springs. When we asked at reception to move us they said they didnt have any more rooms except the deluxe which was another 200 pounds and had to be kept for emergencies. We said couldnt they use our room for emergencies instead, the reply was we cant because the beds broken. So ok for us to use but not in a so called emergency. Had to put up with it the whole break which was for my daughters birthday. Breakfast was ok. Bar meal was bad. I must say though that apart from two all the staff were lovely.

The room was noisy as next to the only lift, looked straight onto the flat roof. Too hot with rad off and windows open and a fan that sounded v powerful but didn’t provide any air ! Hairdryer didn’t reach any mirrors!. . Hairdryer provided lead not long

Our room definatly required an update. The sink tap was faulty, the bath waste was blocked. The kettle lead was so short, we had to use on the floor. I paid extra for a balcony room, it was disappointing to say the least. The buffet breakfast was hot, however i was dissapointed with the choice, especially vegetarian options. I would not stay at the hotel again, as i did not think it value for money.

The hotel is tired and dated and needs a good refurbishment it was 32 degrees and no air conditioning in the rooms but also the windows are wired up so we couldn’t even get any air through the room it was so uncomfortable the whole hotel were complaining and I know we can’t control the weather but it’s time some money was spent bringing this hotel up to the modern standard considering your charging top prices also I thought the car park charges were very steep £36 for 3 nights

Guest relations was poor. Not once were we asked if the accommodation or breakfast was ok in the 3 days. Not very welcoming, robotic and impersonal. Breakfast wasn't good, items rarely replenished and cold, despite booking at different times. Shower cubicle was small and showerhead wasn't very good. Found rubbish from previous guests. Internet was very poor, less than 0.5mbps. Disappointed with standard of hotel. Although location on the canal was fantastic

Went for a birthday stay and chose this place as it was within close proximity to Chester. The service was below standard on arrival and the room allocated not great. I think the people on reception and in the hotel pick and choose who there nice to as most of the clientelle are older couples. The decor is dated but okay it's like a no frills accommodation. We had the great misfortune of coming across a horrendous receptionist at the gym, a Eastern European lady called Natalya who was charming with the men and her attentions switched on in their directions but was extremely aggressive, abhorrent and uncivilised with us. I was surprised she was on the front desk as she made us feel very uncomfortable with her clear predjuces. It was hard to comprehend how when asking her queries she deemed it necessary to start shouting her head off lacking manners and making it hard to understand what she was saying through her thick accent. Id say the stay ewe okay with the only high point being the gym, small sauna and steam room and breakfast which was buffet style. I won't be returning and wouldn't recommend anyone who wants a special break, relaxation, understands hospitality or customer service to either.

Great hotel in good location. Beside the canal and near the walls and city centre. Staff are immensely helpful and warm welcome. Room was excellent. Clean and spacious. Really comfortable bed.

The hotel itself facilities were good, clean and rather conveniently located. However, the staff were not as helpful as they could be. We were stranded in Liverpool due to a city-wide incident, where the trains were severely delayed and Ubers were not responsive (presumably due to the large surge in demand). When I called the hotel for assistance, whether to order a cab or to just provide suggestions for a local cab / transport company to get us back to the hotel, all that was told to me was that they couldn't help, they have no idea what are the local cab companies, and ask me to take the train back, after I repeatedly told them that the trains were not working. This left a very bitter note during the stay, which is quite a pity, cos otherwise, the rest of the staff and rest was good.

In a great old building with its own bridge across the canal . Very convenient for the city centre but in a really interesting place. Only downside is the dual carriageway running past. Windows closed keeps noise out, but on a hot day the noise would be a problem , though not so much overnight. Staff were friendly smart and efficient , Really enjoyed our one night stay and hope to return.

Great location for walking into town, the walls and river. Secure car park. Hotel is comfortable and all that you’d expect. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice atmosphere. Can get busy at times at breakfast.

Lovely little hotel ( esp at the price ) right on the canal and walking distance from the town centre. Room was not massive but big enough and clean. Staff were friendly Spa is a nice little extra.. only downside was that changing area could do with cleaning more regularly as there was a lot of hair on the floor, and steam sauna had plastic cups lying around. But in general it was a good. I would definitely recommend if you want a good priced place to stay close to town

Hotel is in a great spot and the room overlooked the canal which was lovely. Really enjoyed the breakfast which was free and staff were very helpful. Only 2 small issues and they were only becuase it was so hot....no air con and no fridge in the room. Wouldnt

Good city centre hotel, not far to walk to all amenities and shops. Very clean and also helpful friendly staff, especially on reception. Food was bog standard pub grub in the restaurant, but the breakfast was hearty. I would stay again but would definitely eat elsewhere.

We initially reserved a business class room. After reading the negative reviews about these rooms, we paid the extra to upgrade to a deluxe room with balcony. Room 428. Pleased we did as this room was okay ( not at all deluxe, but okay) . Good size comfy bed. Bottled water had to be requested on both days ( included in room rate). Bar area modern. Breakfast suited our needs. Major letdown - the restaurant. The food wasn’t good. Sent back to the kitchen, second attempt was no better. We felt like we’d wasted a lot of money on poor food. Not sure we would return to the hotel, as it was very expensive and hit and miss in too many areas.

We felt the room was a little tired especially the bathroom. Breakfast was limited selection and not hot enough, having the toast precooked on the buffet may save time but leaves it cold and soft. Good for one night but no longer.

Check in staff were exceptionally pleasant and really helpful. There needs to be more clarity about car parking online, including location and cost. The hotel feels comfortable to be in, the atmosphere and decor were lovely, but it does feel slightly dated in some areas. In the rooms, there is brick wallpaper which makes the rooms look cold. The traffic from outside is beyond the control of the hotel, but maybe by installing aircon, customers would be able to close the windows. Breakfast was ok. The bacon and sausages looked as though they’d been cooked under the heat of a hair dryer. A couple of minutes longer in the oven would not hurt at all.

Breakfast was basic but good. Sausage,bacon,Scrambked and fried eggs,grilled toms,beans and snall fried potatoes.Just 2 choice of flavoured yoghurts,no plain or Greek yoghurt.4 types of cereals and plenty of honey,jams and marmalade with toast .Pot of tea wasnt very good and coffee just tasted of warm water so used my sachets from the bedroom.Staff at reception and at breakfast where very helpful and friendly but the receptionist on Friday didnt inform us of booking for every breakfast session.Bar staff very helpful and friendly and prices not bad too.Bedroom was good size with a double and 2 single beds.Bathroom clean and tidy and housekeeping staff were great as we asked for extra milk and coffee.
