Great hotel. The rooftop bar was closed which wasn’t apparent when I booked but the pool area was super nice. Loved the coffee place- Thank you, Max! Beds were super comfy, loved the salt water pool, pool chairs, towels, wood deck, and efficient toilets. Minimalistic rooms with great public spaces in cool old building in a great location. Greek restaurants down the street rocked. Valet parking was great and easy!

Service was excellent. Super friendly staff. Bar doesn’t open until the afternoon which isn’t great when you’re on vacation and want a mimosa with breakfast.

The hotel just reopened in June, they are still working out the kinks. The coded door looks are glitching and this is a little time consuming. Every time I went in my room I had to put the code in at least three times. The code was the same for the pool access, but it worked fine. Towels were an issue at the pool. They didn’t have as many as they needed, and some needed a good bleaching. These are small things, and didn’t impact our trip. We would definitely stay here again!

Good location. One of the elevators was inoperable. Valet parking was very poor.

I enjoyed my stay. The pool area is lovely and includes a hot tub. I went to the bar of the restaurant which was lively. Staff was great. I had a room with a view of Palisades Park. Valet parking was a breeze. The fitness center had many of the machines I like to use. Only problems were: wifi didn't work on my laptop at the pool (phone worked). There was only 1 trash can (in bathroom) and there was no container for recycling in the room.

Beautiful newly refurbished 1940s deco hotel. Friendly staff. Open only 2 weeks when we stayed. Loved that you can open the windows for an ocean view. Fab marble tub. Glam pool deck with lush foliage. Free bicycles. Lovely bath amenities. Didn’t love: no free in room coffee/tea service, no glasses or H2O in the room, only one basic desk chair on standard Queen so you can’t easily lounge in your room. For price point there should have robes. Pool Bar closed at 6pm so no food or drinks on site after that, but pool open until 10pm. No full service restaurant. You can purchase coffee & pastry off lobby but that’s it. I’m sure they’ll work out some kinks and probably raise the rates.

Updated lobby looked encouraging. Outdoor pool but weather cool. Upstairs lounge bar but no ambience.

Very run down and dirty, should not be sold as a hotel as there are no services that you would expect in a hotel. The no front desk/app concept makes it feel like you are staying in an abandoned building (property condition really helps that feel). We had to drink water out of the same paper cup for three days as there aren't even vending machines on the premises.

There was no hot water in the shower. It was loud due to the bar above us. There’s access to all levels by the public so people from the bar were intoxicated and running around the hotel levels creating not only a noise issue but also a safety and security concern. The only functional elevator broke multiple times. We had to carry our luggage 6 flights of stairs without help. Nobody responded to the water temperature issue. There’s no ice machine. The pool was great though!

The units are very tiny and very overpriced. There are no room amenities like even a microwave and you feel like you’re stuffed in an overpriced and overaged tuna can. They hit me with a hidden resort fee when we checked in even though Expedia guaranteed what we were paying up front. The valet are cool people but the rooftop “bar” is never open and the pool is pathetically accessible until 8pm when they close the “bar” down there which isn’t staffed anyway. I would rate this hotel 1 star of 5 if it weren’t for the location being so close to Santa Monica pier. I paid around $1000 for 2 nights and I would have canceled if I could’ve and went somewhere else. Our door lock PIN code didn’t work the entire time and the room smelled old as dirt. Towels were stained and old looking and I will never stay here again nor will I recommend it to anyone and I work in the travel industry for Travel and Leisure. My wife and I travel all the time all over the world and we pay top dollar for very nice places. This was our 2 year anniversary trip and we notified them ahead of time and they did nothing to make our special occasion feel anything but disappointing. The thimble of fresh squeezed juice at check in was a joke of an attempt to say happy anniversary and thank you for choosing us for your celebration. I am telling everyone how disappointed we are to warn people to spend this kind of money at other facilities. OVERPRICED, OVERPROMISED, AND THEN THEY UNDERDELIVERED!

I had a decent suite. I did find a bunch of dirty towels behind the bedroom table. There was men’s hair in the bedsheets. The suite rooms were very sparse in furnishings. The tub had zero temperature control. It was boiling hot. The toilet paper was like sandpaper. The pool was full of dead bugs. The view was great. However, I didn’t realize that the balcony was shared with everyone. Random guests would walk right up to my bedroom window and stare at me and my daughter first thing in the morning. Imagine being awaken to having a strange man standing in front of your window. They also did that in the sofa room. There was zero privacy. Great access to shopping and great restaurants. The staff couldn’t really give a rat’s behind about your stay.

Great location. Nice clean room and bathroom. Lovely cleaning staff. Friendly front desk. My bathroom was a little unusual with a huge step in bath/shower. Comfy bed and good air con. Recommend.

The only bad part was that the rooms were smaller than expected and house keeping is not included. Also, there were a lot of little bugs in our room (looked like fruit flies) from the moment we entered. The blanket also gave my friend a rash on her arms and legs, not sure what caused that. Other than that, it was great and service was really nice.

We spent a couple of nights here as part of a longer trip in California. The rooms were fantastic! Very clean. Comfortable beds. The view was amazing!! Very walkable and convenient. The staff was so friendly. We were pleasantly surprised to find a pool and hot tub. Target was a short walk to purchase swimsuits. We would definitely stay here again.

Property should be better than it is. Great location and pool, but in need of renovation to restore to its art deco greatness. Pool gates key pad don’t work, rooms need maintenance and a deep clean

Property is essentially a glorified motel. Arrived to a dirty room and had to be moved. Bathroom was TERRIBLE. Shower was falling apart… Could barely flush the toilet. Would not come back.

Very clean and well kept, great location being a 5 minute walk from anything you could need.

It's incredibly loud. The club at night in the hotel is completely audible.

Great location, nice price, very clean. Bathroom had a deep tub, might be hard to get in and out for some people. Small fridge needs to be thrown out, it was making popping sounds, I unplugged since it was waking me up. Room had a great view. The door has a keypad lock, and when I returned after breakfast, the app didn’t have the code any longer, it looked like I had already checked out.

A movie was being shown poolside-right outside our room, really loud-which lasted until almost 10:00. To make matters worse, we were offered tickets for $17! To a movie from decades ago we could probably stream for free. We have never stayed in a place that did not offer coffee, if not in the room, at least in the lobby. We had to purchase coffee, for $5 a cup from a coffee bar run by the hotel in the lobby. And yes, a resort fee was also charged. Pretty unbelievable.

So overall we enjoyed our stay. But the hotel has a few short comings. The rooms are very dated. The bathrooms need to be updated and there is no room to put toiletries or other personal items. There is a lot of noise from the streets and the

We loved this vintage boutique hotel located close to Santa Monica beach. The art-deco ocean liner design and elegant pool deck area are beautiful. Yes the room layouts are a little old school with small sinks and no counter space but there are plenty of updated outlets and the service is fantastic. It can get a little noisy at night on Ocean blvd but it calms down after 11:00 pm. We've advise the mgmt they should have snacks available since there is no market nearby. The old fashioned elevators work great and are part of the charm - there's more personality here than a thousand Days Inns. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

You could not get regular TV- everything you had to pay to stream. Just wanted to watch CNN and coukd not. Also- you pay over 400$ a night and they don’t have free coffee in the lobby…ridiculous. So ok you have high end coffee shop then and 2 times my husband paid for drip coffee and it was cold and barista was clueless. So here is what you do: put out ( like most hotels do) a thermos of drip coffee in the am and if guests want fancy they order and pay for fancy. I kniw this is LA but come on.

Very friendly staff. Incredible location. The pillows were super comfy. We stayed in one of the suites with the king bed. The sofa bed was not super comfy. AC worked great. The room itself was spacious. We did the parking on-site which was $55/day but worth it since parking in that area is difficult to find and our car was safe. I would definitely stay here again.

Gorgeous boutique hotel. Stayed for business trip. It's an older building but they've done a great job at making it come alive again. Rooms are basic, but the bathrooms are luxe (nice bath tub!). Views of the ocean (from Queen Suite) are very nice. Neighbourhood is what you'd expect from the Santa Monica area, this is a nice pocket out of the busyness with great option dining options around. Cafe in The Eden is gorgeous - great coffee and basic bites! Loved working from there in the mornings :) Staff were very hospitable and fun! Thank you.

Amazing hotel! Everything was perfect the room the staff the pool/hot tub and the atmosphere. It was our first time in Santa Monica and we are more than pleased with our experience

The stay was disappointing from the start. When we arrived after 8 hour drive from San a Francisco , there was no one at the reception and check in counter, we waited for about 15-29 minutes but nobody showed up so the place was completely empty . After that we decided to go to our room and opened it with the code which was texted to me . Next morning when went to the lobby again there was no one there at all and we returned after a busy day in the evening , same thing nobody at the reception and the hotel personal was nowhere to be found . We went to our room and found that it wasn’t t cleaned at all, garbage wasn’t taken out , the coffee and coffee cups aren’t replaced, bed isn’t made up and towels weren’t replaced . It was clear that no cleaning people entered the room and it was mess. I got really angrier with this complete lock of service called the tall free number and spoke with someone and expressed my deepest disgust and disappointment with this horrible service . He tried to explain something to me obviously just reason prepared and trained wording which made me even angrier. Eventually someone showed up and demanded some new towels and coffee cups which were eventually brought to our room after so much aggrevation and frustration. I told them that I want my money back for this terrible stay and that I file a complaint against the hotel and put a very bad review which is what I am doing now. Can I get my money back or at least reimbursement for paid parking?

This property was nice, the hotel staff at the property are incredible! However, I called to have my room freshened up and the guy on the phone (in some other location) said i would be charged for a clean or freshening up of the room. I said your competitors don’t charge that and if you want to charge that I’ll take my business elsewhere. They seemed to not care about my business and they also would not let me speak to a manager or front desk person at the property. They said I had to go and talk to them in person. So I did show up to the Front Desk and canceled my reservation and asked for a refund. Corporate policies of money grubbing and nickel and diming your customers for everything is noticed and loathed. There are plenty of other great hotels in the area that are far better to their guests. Try The Huntley, Ocean View Hotel or the Viceroy. All are nearby and do it much better for the same price or less. This place is inhospitable to their guests. They also have a massive hotel run by only one person. That’s cheap and creates bad service for the guests and a bad work experience for their employees. Typical corporate hotel that only cares about your money, but makes no effort to make your trip a good experience with their hospitality. They don’t care about you and they make that abundantly clear to you. Run from this place!

This hotel was amazing. The staff was great above and beyond for anything we needed. Definitely staying here again and definitely recommend this hotel.

The staff was kind and friendly, but they were just not trained well. It took 3 hours to finally be told that the hotel did not have cable TV. Our room did not have toilet paper. We told them at the front office, and it was never provided during our entire stay. Not having cable TV will cause us never to stay there again.

This hotel is a disaster. The whole “no one works here” vibe is really off putting. The rooms are accessed not with a room key, like every other hotel in America, but with an 7-digit access code. Good luck getting back in your room if tou forget it or didn’t bring your phone with you! Need something from front desk? There isn’t one. And there is no phone in the room. Want to take the elevator? Get ready for a 2 person max death trap. What a waste for such a beautiful location. I won’t be coming back here

Everything was exceptional. From the moment we walked in the hotel. The staff was incredibly nice and everything we experienced was perfection!

Location is excellent to Ocean view and walkable to all the key sights in Santa Monica. The room is basic and reasonable, though we found the bathroom. bit weak with water pressure and we had to run the fan for prolonged periods. Great views of Santa Monica beach, no real affordable overnight parking in the area.

Right across from the beach, close to shops and restaurants. Great pool and cafe.

Loved the location, beautiful ocean view from my window where I saw beautiful sunsets. A bit noisy being right next to the road, but can't beat the location where shops and restaurants were all within walking distance. Small issue with the cold water tap, which only had hot water. Maintenance came to fix it a day after my arrival, but for the rest of my stay, it was back to boiling hot water. I just let it run for a while to let it cool down. Hotel should get that problem fixed.

It has a great outdoor space, pool and bar area. Staff were really friendly and helpful. The area outside the hotel is noisy from the road and passing people. Also homeless is an issue here who are along the road outside the hotel which can be a bit unsettling at times. The hotel does not have a restaurant just a small selection of options in the morning. I would stay again

Very nice but dated. Lots of stairs and limited pool access. Bit of street noise also. Several homeless in the park were ranting much of the time. Not hotel’s fault but an issue

Was close to everything touristy, which was the reason I chose it... Close "driving distance" to all the LA sights. Love the location.... Great food choices too! Beautiful park across the street too!

Pool bar service and food was great. Excellent coffee bar in lobby. Hotel is right in Ocean blvd just steps from the Santa Monica beach and pier. Shopping and restaurants close by with all the charm and eclectic personality of Santa Monica. Hotel is mostly refreshed with touches of elegance from its classic 50s roots. The rug in the room showed its age but overall was super clean and charming. Bed was super comfortable. A great place to relax. We would definitely come again.
