The property is centrally, located on a busy bar and restaurant District. That makes the location very attractive to majority of the people. They also worked with us and made it accommodating for us because of the stairs and not having a lift. We would recommend itp to anybody who is looking to come to the city.

Lovely pub/hotel with a great vibe. Titanic theme. Cosy room. Friendly staff. Huge breakfast with many options. Only negative was that there was no lift so bags were dragged up a couple of flights of stairs. Otherwise…fantastic!

We came to Southampton the day before we left on a cruise. We stayed at this lovely hotel for one night and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. One word of warning, however, is there is no elevator in the hotel. We had to walk up four 10 star flights of steps to get to our room. But other than that, the stay was wonderful. The hotel is located in a very fun area of the city with numerous bars and restaurants on a closed off street with outdoor seating. It was a very lively area. We would definitely return. The lack of an elevator would’ve been no problem had we known and packed just a small overnight bag because they are willing to store your large suitcases on the first floor.

Great property in a neat location of Southampton. Nice rooms with premium amenities. Great bar and restaurant on site, With outdoor seating as well. Breakfast buffet and menu items in AM. Owner and Staff are wonderful. Jack is a treasure. We’ll be back!

This is a lovely old tavern with comfortable accommodation. The staff were fantastic, really friendly and helpful, and it is in a great location. There are plenty of references to the White Star Line, in particular the Titanic, which was very interesting. The food was nice, especially breakfast, and there was even a pub quiz on our second night which we really enjoyed. We stayed here for three nights before joining a cruise. There were so many people doing the same thing on that day that there were no taxis available, however it was actually a reasonably easy walk to the cruise terminal. As this is an old building there is no lift, so it can be a little difficult to get big suitcases up to the room, but this was made clear to us, and there is no problem leaving luggage on the ground floor and just taking an overnight bag upstairs. We stayed for one more night after we returned from the cruise, all in all, it is a very nice place to stay.

Lovely tavern/hotel In Southampton, near the cruise port. Very friendly staff, comfortable safe accommodations and good food. The only negative is, no elevators, but that is made clear when booking. The White Star will store your luggage, if you don’t want to carry it upstairs yourself. We had packed a carry on for our one night stay.

A really lovely hotel. Staff were all great, room nice (showers excellent, comfy beds) and there were lots of nice touches (coffee machine, real milk for tea...). Breakfast was incredible. Location is very good - lots of nice dining options nearby if you dont want to 'eat in'. There is no parking however you can street park if you're just staying the night (parking is limited to 4 hours but overnight is free) - if your stay is longer then there is surface parking a block away and ocean village has a multi-storey car park.... highly recomended

This hotel is a hidden gem in Southampton. Although it’s above a pub, it’s a lovely pub and there was absolutely no problem with noise. Perfectly located for a visit to Southampton city. The room was clean, comfy bed and enormous tv 😊 There was tea, coffee facilities including fresh milk in the fridge. The breakfast was delicious. Nothing to improve on for me.

A reall nice place to stay, really well decorated and comfortable rooms. Breakfast was excellent. The only negative was the toliet seat hadn't been cleaned propertly since last occupants, this was off putting. Everwhere else was cleaned to a very high standard.

Disappointing stay this time. Tried to phone the main contact number over 2 nights and no-one answered. My room was only partially cleaned after my first night's stay - the bed left unmade, floor needed hoovering, bath and sink not fully cleaned. I made the effort to report it the same evening but was told I'd need to wait until the next morning to share with the Manager, which is a shame. I did share with the lovely manager and I know the next time, the standard will return to the level it was previously, which is the reason I will keep coming back.

I love The White Star Tavern. The staff are absolutely amazing, nothing is too much trouble for them especially the man and woman wirking the breakfast shift. All the little extras in the room are great. Rooms are lovely, they are clean, warm and well kept. Totally recommend a stay here if visiting Southampton

Initially we thought the building was quite nice and the room was nice and cosy. There was pretty much everything we needed but a few things missing such as spoons for tea and coffee. A few down points, my pillowcase wasn’t changed the few nights I was there and on the final night I had to ask for a new pillowcase which I had to change myself, after specifically asking for a clean in the room as the night before only the bed was made, there was rubbish left around the room, the carpet was very dirty, one of the teacups was quite dirty, most annoyingly, the coffee machine wasn’t working properly and there was no tray to put the cup on. The staff downstairs were lovely but unfortunately, the cleanliness of the room really wasn’t good for us, considering we wanted to just relax and have a little luxury.

The bedroom was very well decorated and with large comfortable bed, and all the amenities you might need: tea, kettle, coffee machine, fridge, iron, TV, hair dryer etc. Fresh milk in fridge! The staff were very helpful, friendly and efficient. The Breakfast was magnificent - everything you could wish for. Delicious! We would certainly come again. The BC's.

Nice room with good lighting, which is rare these days! Shane there isn't a plug socket near the mirror so you can use the hairdryer and see what you're doing. Breakfast was average - there wasn't a huge selection and the cooked food was not great in my experience. However, the pains au chocolat and the pains aux raisins were some of the best I've ever had.The staff were very good as is the location.

Oh, where do I start? Super polite helpful staff, amazing breakfast, thick fluffy towels, loads of pillows, cloud-like bed, fabulous shower, complimentary beer and water, and real milk in my fridge, gorgeous toiletries, clean comfortable room, v cool bathroom nightlight and good price. Sadly waa too tired to sample the bar and dinner on arrival but the menu looked lovely.

It is in the middle of multiple bars. it was really noisy with loud music and people noise until 2AM and then, hotel guests who partied late came into the hotel and partied around until 3AM in the sitting area that is located just outside of our room. We reserved a supposedly a nice room. The hotel tried to add additional window to block the noise, but it really did not help much. What really made us crazy was that the walls and door in the Inn was so thin that we were able to hear everything outside of the door. Also, no elevators at this location. So, we had to walk up third floors with bags. We could not sleep all night. Their food is OK, cleanliness is OK, and the location is convenient to walk to places and good dining options. We will not stay here again.

Great place to stay, right near dining and night lift. It is an old establishment, so you need to carry bags up to your room. My only challenge was the Air conditioning not cooling, but we made do.

The property itself was fine, it had some character. If you dont mind noise you sleep then youll manage. What turned this into an unpleasant stay was the staffs attitude to tipping. Whilst paying for the first round the staff asked me to "check" the bill. Asking for a tip this way at the bar was new to me and actually suprised me so i just checked the items were correct. Also I thought I was staying for dinner so I didn\'t tip for the first round, this was met by a slight look of disgust. I went to the bar to get a drink i forgot and the staff were gossiping about tips (coincidence?) When I later realised we weren\'t staying for dinner I went to tip the staff and they were pretending like tips were an alien concept to them...

We booked this hotel for a two night stay - pre cruise. We are still in awe of our stay here at The White Star Tavern Hotel. From the moment we walked through the door right through to when we left for our cruise 2 days later the staff, Bridgit, Emma, Becca, Mina, Jack, Mack, Kyle, everyone was just amazing, friendly, professional, fun, helpful....The Best!! The Pub restaurant is just amazing. Best hot breakfast menu along with superb food for dinner & lunch. Bartenders, Jack & Mack make the best cocktails. The bed was so comfortable. The bathrobes, slippers, artisen coffees, teas, chocalates, water - all those beautiful touches that they provide in your room were just spot on for a perfect stay. We even stopped there when we arrived back in port after our cruise for breakfast prior to taking our shuttle to Heathrow. We were welcomed with hugs and we didn't want to leave. You will not be disappointed in your stay here what so ever!! We are already planning on returning for a trip back to Southampton and yes we are staying at The White Star Tavern Hotel!!

The best part of this hotel is its staff. They were all very helpful and just delightful. It's not a modern hotel but is very charming. Plenty of great restaurants within walking distance and shopping a 15 minute walk away. We loved this place and would stay here again.

This review is a little difficult to write because of the situation that brought us and other travelers here. There was a delay in boarding our cruise, so I booked two rooms here before they sold out. Almost immediately I received an email that there is no lift/elevator at the hotel, so please plan to pack an overnight bag and they would store our luggage in a secure location. That was fine with us. We arrived about an hour before check in time. They would not check us in early and said they could not take our luggage. Their luggage room was full already. So we had lunch with all our bags and went back in at 2:55 PM. Again the attendant said check in time was 3 PM. A little after 3 we were checked in and two young guys who worked there helped carry our luggage upstairs and we were told no guys would be working the next morning so getting our luggage back down would be our responsibility. I’m not sure I have to say anything further here. This is the way it is there. I am still waiting for them to send me a receipt for my payment, which I need in order to get reimbursed from the cruise line. I’m not holding my breath. The only plus here was the size of the bathrooms.

There was a delay in boarding our cruise, so I booked two rooms here before they sold out. Almost immediately I received an email that there is no lift/elevator at the hotel, so please plan to pack an overnight bag and they would store our luggage in a secure location. That was fine with us. We arrived about an hour before check in time. They would not check us in early and said they could not take our luggage. Their luggage room was full already. So we had lunch with all our bags and went back in at 2:55 PM. Again the attendant said check in time was 3 PM. A little after 3 we were checked in and two young guys who worked there helped carry our luggage upstairs and we were told no guys would be working the next morning so getting our luggage back down would be our responsibility. I’m not sure I have to say anything further here. This is the way it is there. I am still waiting for them to send me a receipt for my payment, which I need in order to get reimbursed from the cruise line. I’m not holding my breath. The only plus here was the size of the bathrooms.

I love The White Star Tavern. The staff are absolutely amazing, nothing is too much trouble for them especially the man and woman wirking the breakfast shift. All the little extras in the room are great. Rooms are lovely, they are clean, warm and well kept. Totally recommend a stay here if visiting Southampton

Staff was super friendly and engaging. Gave us all the ins and outs of facility then walked us to our room. Love that they asked if need taxi service for next day and automatically set it up for you. The entire establishment was quaint and beguiling. Breakfast was amazing! There’s some continental but also you can order from full menu. We wanted to have light breakfast so ordered all the sides we liked rather than the big plates. Food was amazing 🤩. Will come back for more enchantment ♥️

People were very helpful and accommodating. We selected this hotel due to its location near the cruise ship port. The hotel is above a bar on a street closed to traffic. There are a variety of restaurants with everything from pizza to fillet moon nearby. This was a perfect place to stay for a few days prior to cruising. Great breakfast provided too!!

We enjoyed 3 great nights before our cruise. All the staff were great. The included breakfast was fabulous! We were able to walk from the bus station to the hotel easily and then on the morning of our cruise it was an easy 10 minute walk to the ship. I would definitely recommend The White Star.

White Star is an excellent small hotel right in the middle of town with lots of options nearby. The rooms are small but extremely comfortable and clean. Free breakfast and amazing lunch and dinner options.

Great location, if you like buzzing nightlife and great people watching. The bars around are loud but everything winds down around midnight. Room and hotel clean, comfortable and well appointed. Like the no fuss approach to the room and breakfast i.e. everything included. Good coffee and tea in the room and a good choice for breakfast. Staff all friendly even the bouncers.

We loved everything about this stay: the welcoming, cheerful staff, the comfortable boutique room and the fabulous breakfast that had a great choice of pastries, juices, cereals, yogurts and a wide choice for a cooked breakfast. All dietary needs were met. We would definitely stay again, but next time choose one of the rooms with a king size bed rather than a double.

This is a definite “must stay” location in Southampton!! The hotel is right in the heart of bars and restaurants- all in a pedestrian only area. The breakfast is absolutely incredible- your choices include menu and buffet. The dinners are excellent, can’t say enough about the quality. And finally, the staff! Remarkable!! Helpful, pleasant and totally enjoyable. Will definitely recommend!!

When we arrived the staff were very welcoming and happy to show us to our room Anything we wanted was no trouble at all The room was amazingly clean and we presented and the bedding so soft. The only thing was that the window didn't open enough but that's just a personal preference especially in the heat despite the air con and fan. The food well what can I say simply amazing We had 3 courses and each plate was to die for I've eaten in Michelin star restaurants before and that was just as good. A little pricey but you do get what you pay for. We will be visiting again in the near future for sure. Thank you the team of the white star tavern
