Hotel du Vin is very conveniently located to the Royal Mile. The hotel was stylish and comfortable. The rooms were clean, quiet, spacious and comfortable. The Bistro was ok. Some dinners were excellent and some not good at all but the service was good. Upstairs bar was cozy and the bartender was the hardest working employee... get him a bar back! Recommend staying here. If you dine, order the pate !

Quirky architecture means that it does not feel like an identikit chain hotel This is an ideal place to visit the Old Town and a place to stay for University of Edinburgh graduation ceremonies being close to McEwan Hall. Note that no parking on site, though a q park is 5-10 mins walk.

I loved staying here! Staff was excellent, room was perfect, and had a lovely view of the courtyard. I was surprised by how quiet it was at night. There is a lovely sitting area and bar for guests on the second floor, as well as downstairs if your looking for a quiet place to read or work.

Excellent hotel in a great location. Easy walk to the Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle, and Princes Street. We arrived at the hotel very early, and they took care of our luggage and us, and got us a lovely cup of tea. Just the ticket after a long haul flight. The staff were so friendly, courteous, and efficient. The room was lovely, with excellent amenities, including an iron and ironing board. Also a nice kettle, Scottish breakfast tea, and lovely Scottish biscuits. As an excellent bonus, the restaurant is simply outstanding. Delicious food, excellent wine, and impeccable service. All at quite reasonable prices, considering what you get. Finally, a really classy bar with, of course, an amazing selection of single malt whisky, and some nice fairly private seating areas. Highly recommended.

Lovely cosy hotel very beautiful room and super comfy bed. Bins in room had not been emptied but rest of room spotless. We had some issues with the restaurant that we told hotel staff at check out and amazingly they refunded our restaurant bill I was speechless and could not believe how lovely that was as I wasn’t expecting that and certainly didn’t ask for any discount

Truly a disappointment, for the price you pay and the quality of service. We stayed there regrettably for four night and paid over 2K. We requested to have our room serviced every day we stayed but we were simply ignored. We asked the reception several times each day. I had to chase down the house keeper to get toilet paper and some coffee. The final night I confronted the reception about the matter and with a condescending response she said it must have been our fault because we never put out the « Make up the room » sign. That only infuriated us even more. Plus, the food was mediocre, at best. Profoundly disappointed. Look elsewhere!!!

This was my fifth stay at a HdV property and my second time at this hotel. It is lovely. The service is world class. The entirety of the property was immaculate. The food was outstanding. The location is perfect, close to everything you want to see, but quiet.

After staying for a night in the Hotel du Vin Glasgow, which was extremely poor, it was totally refreshing to arrive in the Hotel Du Vin Edinburgh, and have a wonderful stay - everything you would expect from this brand of small luxury hotel - clean, quiet, luxurious, wonderful staff - highly recommend

The courtyard area is lovely. However they play canned music out there much of the day, so if your room faces the courtyard, as ours did, then you can hear it. I did not notice any soundproofing inside the hotel either (ie, hallway noise and noise from the floor above). The restaurant is lovely, great breakfast and nice bar upstairs. Outstanding location!

We absolutely loved our stay here. The room we were given was in an older wing of the hotel, which worried us. There was no direct elevator access, and it was a bit of a labyrinth to find the right staircase. But we were SO pleased with the room itself. Even lovelier than the photos. We only stayed one night, but we wish it could've been longer!

Excellent location for visiting the sights. Very nice rooms - even standard ones and lovely very hot water. Nice breakfasts and pleasant bar area. Only slight negative is that the lighting was a little dim in the bedrooms but adequate nonetheless. A very enjoyable stay.

The hotel was lovely, staff very attentive, my only niggle was that the shower in our room was in the bedroom and not in a separate bathroom. Nice for couples, less so when you’re showing in front of a friend.

I booked the signature suite (Thierry Lombard) for my Wife’s birthday. It was fantastic. Loads of room and all the things you need for a stylish comfortable stay. The staff were great. We’ve stayed in Edinburgh many times and this is up with the best!

I would have given 5 stars if only rating the hotel. I gave 4 stars because of the 3 star experience with the restaurant. The hotel itself was terrific. The staff was attentive and wonderful. The room was charming and well equipped with upscale amenities. The location was excellent and within easy walking distance to attractions. If stairs may be an issue to some, it would be important to request a room accessible by lift. We were on the third floor in a section of the hotel that allowed us to take the lift for 2 floors, but then we needed to use stairs to go up another flight. Fortunately, they have an all night porter who was able to help with our luggage at 4am as we had to catch an early flight. Unfortunately, the restaurant was disappointing. When we dined, there were only three other tables occupied. We ordered cocktails which took about 20 minutes to arrive. We ordered the Chateaubriand with a bottle of Malbec special. Portions of the meat were so tough that it was actually hard to cut with a steak knife and a couple of my bites were impossible to chew The stated salad was a disappointment and consisted of some kind of small green garnishment on the plate. When the check came, I was surprised by the added service charge for the cocktails. We would definitely stay at the hotel again, but would dine at one of the other nearby options.

The cleaning procedure was a surprise, I didn't know it cost extra just to have the room primped up. towels was not the issue, I don't require clean towels every day. But the one day we did request cleaning, we didn't get clean towels. this was nearly five days into our stay and we were going to be out overnight for a tour to the highlands.

The staff was incredible and very friendly. I watched as they dealt with an incredibly rude customer with skill and grace. They helped my daughter and me arrange a taxi on our day of departure and personally walked us to our room (which was in an out of the way location). They also helped us move our luggage from our initial, smaller room to a larger room. I couldn’t say enough nice things about Hotel du Vin (Edinburgh) and would happily return there again! We were a bit disappointed. Check- in was a bit torturous; we left our bags to be stored and they were still in reception when we came back 4 hours later. Breakfast was average although the staff were really good there. Overall it was pretty expensive for what it was, and we wouldn't stay there again.

Was thoroughly impressed with this hotel. Awesome breakfast spread every morning, and all the staff was more than helpful. I want to single out one of the Managers, Paul. He went over and above to make sure all our needs were met. We had to leave at 4am to catch our flight, and he made sure we had breakfast ready for us before we left. Could not be happier, and highly recommend this hotel!

Hotel du Vin Edinburgh is located perfectly. You are just steps from the bustling & engaging "Royal Mile" in old town, with the Edinburgh Castle at one end and Holyroodhouse at the other and fascinating and fun sites and shops all along the way. You are a short walk to the iconic Greyfriars Bobby and around the corner from Bow Street so that no matter where you are headed, you are in a central location. For more contemporary shops and activities, Princes Street is walkable or an easy Uber/taxi ride away. The hotel is charming, with large bathrooms, rain head showers, and nice rooms with good lighting and charging plugs. For a property so centrally located, it is very quiet and restful. The Bistro offers an excellent breakfast and varied dinner menu. Coffee options were seriously lacking in the rooms and would be appreciated although there was a nice selection of tea.

We arrived at the hotel very early, and they took care of our luggage and us, and got us a lovely cup of tea. Just the ticket after a long haul flight. The staff were so friendly, courteous, and efficient. The room was lovely, with excellent amenities, including an iron and ironing board. Also a nice kettle, Scottish breakfast tea, and lovely Scottish biscuits. As an excellent bonus, the restaurant is simply outstanding. Delicious food, excellent wine, and impeccable service. All at quite reasonable prices, considering what you get. Finally, a really classy bar with, of course, an amazing selection of single malt whisky, and some nice fairly private seating areas. Highly recommended.

The property was easily accessible to the Royal Mile and other attractions while not being in the middle of the 'chaos'. It was very quiet. The staff was extremely helpful and always courteous. I would highly recommend this property and would book here again.

I would have given 5 stars if only rating the hotel. I gave 4 stars because of the 3 star experience with the restaurant. The hotel itself was terrific. The staff was attentive and wonderful. The room was charming and well equipped with upscale amenities. The location was excellent and within easy walking distance to attractions. If stairs may be an issue to some, it would be important to request a room accessible by lift. We were on the third floor in a section of the hotel that allowed us to take the lift for 2 floors, but then we needed to use stairs to go up another flight. Fortunately, they have an all night porter who was able to help with our luggage at 4am as we had to catch an early flight. Unfortunately, the restaurant was disappointing. When we dined, there were only three other tables occupied. We ordered cocktails which took about 20 minutes to arrive. We ordered the Chateaubriand with a bottle of Malbec special. Portions of the meat were so tough that it was actually hard to cut with a steak knife and a couple of my bites were impossible to chew The stated salad was a disappointment and consisted of some kind of small green garnishment on the plate. When the check came, I was surprised by the added service charge for the cocktails. We would definitely stay at the hotel again, but would dine at one of the other nearby options.

Hotel du Vin is very conveniently located to the Royal Mile. The hotel was stylish and comfortable. The rooms were clean, quiet, spacious and comfortable. The Bistro was ok. Some dinners were excellent and some not good at all but the service was good. Upstairs bar was cozy and the bartender was the hardest working employee... get him a bar back! Recommend staying here. If you dine, order the pate !
