Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites San Antonio NW-Medical Area by IHG

Room wasn’t cleaned our first full day there and didn’t get a clean set of bath towels; I had to go ask for clean towels. Guests next to us were being loud and obnoxious past midnight but there was no room phone to notify the front desk. I had to go in pajamas to notify the front desk manager. Limited continental breakfast choices.

Well, first thing i noticed was that the location was under 🚧 at the front gate. Upon checking in I gave the young man my ID and expected to be charged a deposit like always but then he asked me a rather strange question, "what is the reason for you staying here ? Shocked at the question I said, "What do you mean why am I staying here?" . He replied "well since you're local I need to know why you're staying here because for local people we charge $250 cash only deposit " is exactly what he said. I was kind of at a loss for words but I asked "what does it matter why I stay here ?" and he answered, "well, we have a real big problem with the locals that's all we have to charge $250 cash deposit only " I said "well the reason I'm staying here is because", and this is true, " I'm a cancer patient my house is not ready for me to return yet so I need to at least stay here for 2 days. He looked at me as if I was lying, I so embarrassed i literally pulled out my chemo bag and showed him " look you see ,is this proof enough for you?" After an awkward silence I told him I said look I do not have $250 cash to pay you for deposit for the night the and the room are already for. So , he "waived, the 250 cash only deposit policy" and i left a 100 deposit with my credit card. Next day I had a caregiver visit me and he held them at the front desk until I came down from my room to literally come and get them from the front desk. Uncomfortable!

We chose this location to be near our favorite San Antonio restaurant; La Fogata. Location right off I-10 made it easy in/easy out. That being said, there were pros and cons to the property itself. Pros: front desk staff. Both young men at check in/check out were very nice! The room itself was spacious, quiet, AC blew cold, and it was spotlessly clean. Bed and pillows were comfortable (maybe a bit softer than hubby likes) and we both slept well. The pool looked inviting, though we did not swim (too hot). Cons: the entire property appears worn around the edges and could use a good revamp. Maybe there's a shortage of maintenance / cleaning staff? While the room was spotless, not so much for the rest of the property, including the single elevator which really needed a good scrub/disinfecting. I felt like I needed to wash my hands each time following button pushes. Breakfast was underwhelming - not a big fan of powdered eggs; however, it was nice to have bacon! IMO, for touting a hot breakfast, choices were limited. Overall, the price was certainly right, and the room was good for a night's stay. Since the room was clean, we'd probably stay again, though next time we'd opt for breakfast at Jim's instead.

The room I got was terrible, the floor was wet , roaches , hair all over the floor, the mattress has a stain on it and the smell from the mold is horrible. Over all bad experience.

For the price was okay. Shouldn't complain
