Baymont by Wyndham Keystone Near Mt. Rushmore

I brought my kids and dog to this hotel for a mid week get away for a homeschool field trip. I loved the location of this hotel! The beds were comfortable and the room was spacious. The overall stay was pleasant. The main reason for 4/5 was the general condition of the hotel. While I can understanding keeping costs down by avoiding major upgrades, the basic upkeep seemed to be lacking. The towel rack in our bathroom fell when we pulled a towel from it. Fixtures/hardware were loose in bathroom and around the room. The flooring in the hallways (3rd floor) creaked A LOT and you could feel the flooring underneath weakening. Headboards seemed to be smeared with cleaning solution that left a residue. The pool was fun for the kids, LOT'S of chemicals though. Hot tub felt a bit dirty. The hotel seemed a little understaffed but that may be typical mid week. I also didn't get room service and i assume it is because we had a dog with us but no one really explained that to me as it eas my first time traveling with a pet. I also wasnt told about the pet area outside and had been stuggling to find areas for my dog to go to the bathroom. So some basic communication errors. All in all, we enjoyed our stay, my children want to return! The balcony was fun to have on the 3rd floor, the views were awesome!

Clean room, indoor pool and hot tub which means it is more likely to be open year round, can be noisy if your room window faces the pool, okay for dogs with a dog area behind the building on the pool side, better than average breakfast, nice coffee/decaf/tea station with fresh baked chocolate chip cookies, friendly lobby and breakfast staff.

Pool Need to be clean on the rubber around it because it was black with mold , trash can that they were for breakfast leftovers discard were dirty and smelling bad and when we turn on the air conditioner unit in our room , started smelling a little bit.

The tub filled with water when taking a shower and the water would not drain. The pool had so much chlorine that my eyes were burning and I didn't swim. I stayed in the jacuzzi.

This is an older hotel. We were scheduled to stay 5 days but one of the elevators didn’t work. Breakfasts were ok. The rooms were ok but the pine needle bugs were all over the place. On the 4th night, I was woken up with one crawling on me. The next morning, we checked out. It’s one thing to pick them up with a Kleenex on the floor or walls but to have them crawling on you was too much for me.

The property was having some issues while we were there. The ice maker on our floor was inoperable the first night. They have an indoor pool, and they kept the exterior doors on the first floor open to prevent the chlorine odor from overwhelming the guests, even after dusk, which I thought was not safe! The staff was friendly and helpful. Convenient parking for first floor guests was limited, and if you were not lucky enough to get one of three, non-handicapped spaces, you were in for a bit of a hike. The location is very convenient to Keystone and from the top of the parking lot, Mount Rushmore could be seen! Third floor rooms were much larger, more accommodating and on the road side, included a balcony, which was very nice!

The view and the pools were great

Hotel is older & could use some updating. Breakfast was fairly decent but eggs were cold every morning. Pool area most definitely needs some attention. Would not stay here again.

When we got to our room it was very unclean. The bathroom was falling apart, tub had caulking in it where they attempted to fix it. All the bathroom fixtures were rusted. The wall had something that had been spilled down it and had been there for an extended period of time as evidenced by the dirt over it and on the baseboards. Sheets were clean beds were not comfortable. Just an all around dingy room. The eating area also was unclean

The exit doors had no locks on them. Inside hotel was old and some places in room were in bad shape. Shower curtain bar was rust. Faucet continous drip in tub. Had stink bugs in room.

Our experience at this hotel was disappointing. Upon arrival, the bathrooms were clogged and the rooms were not clean. Walking barefoot left our socks visibly dirty, which clearly shows poor hygiene on the floors. We requested that the bathrooms be cleaned and the sheets changed, but this was not done. The "clean" towels were placed on top of the toilet, which had also not been cleaned. Housekeeping only removed the trash and replaced the towels, without making the beds or properly cleaning the room. This level of service is unacceptable, especially coming from a Wyndham hotel. The breakfast was advertised as a buffet, but it was very limited. There were only a few items available, which did not meet the expectations of a real buffet. Additionally, it would be important for the front desk staff to speak both English and Spanish in order to better assist all guests. In short, the hotel needs significant improvement in cleanliness, service, and hospitality.

My room and hallways were full of cockroaches and bed bugs

The only negative aspect was that there's black mold in the bathroom. I believe it was there due to a lack of a fan.

This place is a dump. If I could add pictures to this review I would. This place is in desperate need of a full remodel. The bathroom is nasty. Rust is forming in even single chrome accessory.the shower curtain rod is the worst for rust. Inside the shower mold is growing on the wall. The stain/varnish is chipping off the door and casing.

There was black mold in the bathroom. This room is not safe. We left a day early because of it and should get a refund for that. But all we will get is excuses.

Hotel needs an upgrade. A good thorough cleaning and a paint job would help.

This property needs a lot of maintenance. My room was very small, the bathroom with broken tiles. The carpet in the hallways looks old and dirty. They didn’t clean the room and change the towels either the first day because I didn’t request it ( it’s what they told me). The second day I filled a request form so they can clean the room and still didn’t do it. After talking to them , they moved me to another clean room. Not good experience.

It was close to Mt Rushmore. There was a dish with someone else’s food and utensils in our room, the shower curtain rod was very rusty. Tissue box almost empty. AC was very noisy.

The room ( I chose a double Queen bed) is very tiny as opposed to the one depicted from the picture. The bed is very close to the TV stand and one luggage could hardly fit in the corner of the space provided for luggages and bags. You have to walk side ways in order to go through. Otherwise the room is clean, beds well made, and bathroom is tidy.

Rooms are extremely tiny. Hotel is on the side of a mountain and very limited dining. There is like 100 plus rooms and breakfast is a 10 ft counter with about 20 seats. Indoor pool and hit tun were nice and taken care of well.

Staff was great! Room small and musty smell. Needs a face lift!

We had a room with a balcony, it was nice to sit and drink coffee on it in the mornings and relax at the end of the day.

Our stay was very good at Baymont! The room was well laid out and like the extra sink outside the bathroom that had a sink also! Really liked being able to walk out straight to parking in the 3rd floor. At night, I could see Mt Rushmore lit up!

Room is small for 2 queen size beds. Needs upgrading. Tub is old and stained.

Great clean, comfortable, updated hotel in Keystone. Loved balcony, had a view of a small part Mount Rushmore. Although we were in town and close to a bunch of eateries the walk up and down the steep hill was too much for our senior legs. Would return again

Very run down property. Common areas were very dirty. Room was ridiculously small. If you want to use the wall air conditioning unit, you have to stand on the bed to reach the controls; there was no other way to turn it on/off so nighttime was impossible. Definitely avoid rooms overlooking the indoor pool, the echoing from people playing in the pool made it impossible to sleep until it closed at 10p (we had to be up early and attempted to go to sleep at 9 but it was impossible). Bed mattress was sloped so it was very uncomfortable. Just a miserable stay. Definitely can not recommend.

Wall air conditioner were heinously loud, both on fan & a/c settings.

Didn't get to stay here, we were placed in a nearby hotel which didn't have free breakfast, so we had to pay more out of pocket because of this.

Just what you would expect for a 3 star hotel. Breakfast was good with many options and items were being replenished. Good location to tourist sites. If you want maid service, you have to ask.

This was the costliest stay during my family trip and I do think the size of the property and options you get dont fully justify the price you pay. Its close to Mt. Rushmore and quite walkable to Keystone’s market but we went while traffic of bikers was very high and parking spots would easily run out and you would find yourself parking very far. Breakfast options were okay. Housekeeping needs a written request before 11am - this is something I only found at this property! Overall, an okay stay but very pricey.

The Damn hotels was closed for the season. I arrived without being aware of was closed or that my reservation was moved to the Ramada. Very poor communication from Hotels.com. i have been trying to get my money back

Customer service bad. Fridge thick with ice. Alarm went off after shower. Fan not working properly. Toilet paper dispenser dirty. Light switch flickered off. Had to leave it on. Asked for toothpaste sample, did not have any. Tried to talk to manager and neglected by phone calls and texts. Had issue with early cancelation wanted to discuss. Breakfast okay. Staff not friendly. Not a good experience.

Dear Hotel Management, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to share some feedback regarding my recent stay at your hotel. Firstly, I was unaware that guests need to sign up for room service in advance. On the third day of our stay, our room, which accommodated four people, was in need of cleaning. When I requested room service, I was informed that I had missed the deadline to request housekeeping. I understand policies are in place for a reason, but I was not aware of this requirement and, unfortunately, had to manage the garbage myself by requesting a garbage bag and cleaning the bins in our room. While I appreciate that the dirty towels and garbage bag I left in the hallway were cleared within a few hours, I found this situation somewhat unsanitary and unprofessional. Although there is a small sign at the front desk stating the need to request housekeeping, I missed it during check-in, likely due to the fatigue from our 9-hour drive. I believe it would be beneficial for all guests to be clearly informed of this policy at check-in, perhaps by signing off on it, similar to the no-smoking policy. This would help avoid any misunderstandings and ensure a smoother stay for everyone. It would have been greatly appreciated if the management team could have supported my situation by accommodating the housekeeping request after three days without service. This small gesture would have significantly improved our experience.

The staff was very friendly. The room was excellent, and we could see Mt. Rushmore during day and lighted up at night. The breakfast offered many options and all I ate was very good. It was a GREAT stay.

Very clean , nice staff, breakfast was plentiful. It is on a mountain side so walking into town is doable but difficult .

Did not know this location was on a hill, with no stairs to get down to the town at the bottom of the hill.

The hotel is up on a hill. Walking to downtown was easy but walking back was a good challenge. Pretty steep incline. Definitely not for the weak. Taking a shuttle to Mount Rushmore was easy

Great location

The location was perfect for our visits to the nearby national and state parks. The little boardwalk with stores and restaurants was a plus.

Convenient location

This hotel is real close to Mt Rushmore. You can see it from the parking lot. The hotel is close enough to Keystone that it is an easy walk to the restaurants and stores. And a quick trip over to Mt Rushmore. Like 5 minutes.

Clean, good services, breakfast is good but repeated

Breakfast could use work on the products your choosing to serve. They aren't very good. waffles, sausage gravy both had very weird plastic chemical taste to them.

I woke up hungry, therefore the breakfast was very much appreciated (as well as the 24/7 coffee)!

Nice hotel, room was surprisingly small but worked for us. Our biggest problem was the breakfast. It was very busy but it was a mess. Garbage all over and things were empty more than full. Most of my family ate but worst breakfast in our week long trip.

Air conditioner did not work in our room very well it was always very humid. Like to see them disinfect the tables at breakfast. I had to do it myself twice. Ran low on food and silverware.
