Lovely food and drink. Great place to relax.

A nice hotel. Staff kindly moved me from a room directly above the bar to a lovely quiet room a few floors up. Room amenities are very good quality and the bar area and restaurant looked great (even though we didn’t use them).

It's a very small quaint property, which I definitely went into with my eyes open. I had a double bed with sea view and balcony. The room was rather small, with limited power outlets, tiny shower, the saving grace being the sea view and balcony. Note, it was possibly the hottest room I've ever slept in, with one small radiator, which gave off more heat that the centre of the sun! I tried to adjust it, but failed miserably. In the end, I had to sleep with the window wide open, to stand any chance of some shut eye. The decor was right on the line between quirky and naff, with several of the stickers on the wall beginning to peel off. The mini fridge appeared to be on a gradient, meaning whenever opened, the contents rolled towards the exit at pace. The power socket fitting to the right of the bed was half hanging off the wall - no massive shakes, but in keeping with the overall experience, mildly dissappointing. The lighting, whilst soft and creating ambience, is not conducive to getting ones self ready, before going out on the town - again, a mild annoyance. The bar and cocktails were wonderful, and the hosting/staff absolutely great. The location absolutely fantastic, pretty quiet, as well as being a 1 minute walk to the sea or local bars and restaurants. The underground parking opposite is also reasonable. At £170 for the night, I'd expect a little more. It's quirky and interesting, but there's lots on offer for less in Brighton, but another ticked off the list 😊

We stayed in the bunker room with no windows so felt a bit claustrophobic. Walls are very thin so you could hear almost everything. The room was near the game room which got really noisy with small kids in the morning. You could also hear a TV coming from next door in early hours.

Great location looking straight over the sea & easy walking distance to shops etc. The staff were super friendly but we were underwhelmed by the triple room. It was in the basement at the rear of the building, very little natural light and only a filament bulb as the main lighting so it felt very dark and claustraphobic. It didnt help that the room was baking hot through the night and despite having the fan on it just didnt help as the window/door just opened up on to a damp covered over small patio area whch didnt have much air flow. The extra bed area in the cabin section had no room to put anything down and no space to get dressed. The bathroom was tiny, water pressure on taps incredibly low, skirting board missing and quite a lot of black mold on the tiles. Coffee machine didnt work properly, no remote for tv in small bedroom area but you couldnt really have both tvs on anyway as they just interfered with each other. The room was clean but felt it needed some maintenance. The room is down a corridor past the bar toilets and ping pong room, it isn't soundproof so may struggle if a light sleeper. Overall it was ok but to be honest I was expecting more of a trendy hotel feel than pub feel, maybe it was just our room. I really think the hotel should mention the only natural light is a frosted sky light which is coming from the covered over patio, its considerably darker than the pictures show and made getting ready very hard work, 1 night was enough for us.

Truly incredible property. Pictures don't do it justice. Stayed with my family on a quick overnight stay and was blown away the minute I opened the door to our room, let alone the awesome bar/lounge area. Unique interiors, great people, awesome location. I cannot wait to return and try other AR locations ! you won't be disappointed.

Nice little room at the top of the house which was greatly decorated and good view over the square out to sea. Can imagine the room gets hot on a nice day. Breakfast was nice. Was four floor walk up the stairs or a very slow lift. But expected in a period property.

Had a great stay here for a couple of nights, that the car park (£25 per day) is opposite made it really easy to get in and out in the showers. Like most of the touches in the room which was snug but good, and excellent pillows helped make for two good nights sleep. Only criticism was breakfast service was slow and we thought it was included in our room rate, so next time we may go out for coffee and toast etc.

Amazing hotel. Stylish and functional rooms and shared areas. Super friendly staff. Homely feel with a sense of shared living. Rooms and beds really comfortable. Shower and bathroom are great. We were only there for such a short time, would loved to have eaten and had a few drinks. Perfectly placed for beach and shops. Recency car park is close but expensive. Will definitely be going back now we’ve found Artist residence.

I stayed for the weekend with my 5 year old. The room was very clean and tidy. The fridge was really handy to have (traveling with a fussy eater) the staff were very friendly and accomodating and we were able to come and go without any issues :)

The room was very dusty, with actual dust balls visible in the corners. Bit of an issue as we have dust allergies. Also not expected for the premium rate we were paying for the room.

Beautiful hotel that reflects the style of Brighton to its maximum. Room cozy that doesn\'t even make you feel like you are inside a hotel room. View straight on the I360! The only "bad thing" was a stain on the bathroom white carpet that they might not have noticed but for the rest everything clean and perfect. Great staff too!

Stayed in a standard double room, shower rooms are extremely small and toilet seats are very high even for adults. Hotel is nice by but showing signs of wear, our shower room had a broken shower hose, and the shower head wouldn't stay in place and the extractor fan wasn't working. Grouting in shower cubicle and floor needs fixing, missing bits and signs of mould. Biggest thing we struggled with was the washbasin which was a game basic size. When trying to rinse mouth and wash face you needed up with water all over the floor as the basis is not suitable for. The room we stayed in also had weird loud humm noise every so often. Think this was related to when adjacent rooms were using their bathroom. Overall hotel has a nice vibe but the room we stayed in defo needs a refresh.

Staff are always excellent, friendly and always happy to help. Was very disappointed that there is no longer any refreshments in the room. I returned late from a work event and always eat/drink snacks etc. so that was a total pain and deflating as I tend to pick the hotel for this reason over others. I then settled in to watch tv and the tv didn’t work, maybe controller but again another blow! So no tv no food and no nightcap. All in all felt really frustrated! I then went to open the blind in the morning and the whole thing fell on top of me. Luckily not my head! I will question returning after this as all the things that I love about it have gone. But it was clean and the staff were great. Don’t want that to be undervalued.

Gorgeous room with sea view. Wonderful to experience a taste of a Regency life by the beach.

Enjoyed the stay apart from our room being incredibly small and on the third floor with dark narrow stairs. Privacy was an issue with the en-suite bathroom. However, staff were nice and the location and sea-view are very nice.

Only key issue was that I was too hot in my room. This is a common problem for me in all hotel rooms, but the lack of option to open a window made it more uncomfortable. Otherwise, the team are always great, and I will stay again.

Liked the quirkiness and the staff were really helpful and friendly. Location is great for the beach and only 5 mins away from the i360 if you plan to visit there. Only downside was there being no air conditioning in the rooms. We had a top floor room on a very hot day and despite having a fan it was extremely hot and uncomfortable. That was the only reason I didn’t rate here 5 stars.

I have stayed here before, while the location is amazing for the price I paid I have to complain about the staff and WiFi. It was not a cheap place to stay, but the wi-fi was awful. Speaking to the staff to ask about this, the reason I got was really poor, almost like I had to accept it with no alternatives given at all. Also before my stay I called up the hotel, and asked about dogs, while Expedia do state its dog friendly, it doesn’t mention or give the hotel an option to specify which rooms will be dog friendly. When I spoke to a member of staff about this, I was met we a very cold and blunt member of staff, she actually had to apologise For her demeanour. I think really though is Expedia’s fault, but the frosty reception is not anyone’s fault but the hotels

We stayed at the hotel for a couple of our nights for our wedding, the second night we booked the bar area for a couple of drinks at the end of night with some of our guests from the wedding. After ordering our second round one of the staff came in and rudely told us the resident upstairs had complained about people in the bar (we were just talking) and said we had to be quiet. So we then couldn’t enjoy our drinks we’d paid for and ruined the end of our wedding. Never should have let us book the area knowing it would upset the residents.

Just back from a great stay at this lovely hotel. Right in the centre of Brighton with the I360 right in front of you and fab sea views. Staff were just lovely, friendly and very helpful. Live staying here at the Brighton Artist Residence. Great friendly staff, amazing rooms and great drinks and breakfast. Don’t know why I look for other places when I come to Brighton I should just book this place every time! I always end up here. Great location and good selection of rooms for family’s and people sharing small groups.

Small boutique style hotel and lovely friendly staff that really make this place. Small room but travelling solo so it was perfectly fine with lots of good amenities and a sea view. Breakfast not included in the room rate but was freshly cooked to order and good quality. Good location inbetween Hove and the livelier pier end of Brighton. Would return if I’m in the area again.
