My kids love Karla in the Kid's Club. I love how friendly everyone is and the renovated room we got in building 3. The sargassum is a problem right now, and there are some renovations causing some noise at the main pool. Also, the gym is currently closed for renovations as well, but the hotel still has the best snorkeling right off the beach that I've seen.

Major renovation works taking place. Hard to relax by the pool with constant drilling and banging. Was Not advised of this prior to booking. The room next door to us was also under renovation and work was carried out durning the night past 10pm on two occasions. Balcony door very poor security and left open each day by Housekeeping. Did not work on arrival and a temporary fix was done. Hot tub did not work on arrival also the TV however this was fixed. Hotel is generally nice. Most staff are helpful however a couple of staff give poor service. Good is generally nice.

The good: Loved the proximity to beach, all rooms are ocean view. The staff are lovely. Nice decor and vibe. Clean, well appointed room. The food is hit or miss as far as their fine dining options. The bad: Elevator was broken half the time and building 4 stank of sewerage in hallway. Getting a good chair on the beach or by the pools is cutthroat. Get your towel on a chair by 615 am.

Fabulous resort. Love the yoga and 5 yoga meditation with music. Rooms are large and clean. Very comfortable. Staff is so nice! Awesome gym. Good food and bartenders. Really liked the nightlife. We danced a lot.

We had a fantastic stay here! It is low key, the staff is friendly, very clean, the pools were great and di not get gross by the end of the day, the beach is gorgeous and swimmable, the staff keep the seaweed raked, and the food at the restaurants and buffet were excellent. We booked a couple of excursions through the resort and they were also excellent. The only drawback would be the limited top shelf alcohol choices and the staff do not speak a lot of English so communicating and requesting some different cocktail choices were not easy, but we survived. Hands down we would stay here again.

Relaxing Retreat with Incredible Service — Watch out for the Seaweed We recently stayed at Akumal Wellness Resort in Akumal, Mexico, and overall had a wonderful and restorative experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel truly welcome — warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. The people here are what make this place so special. One of the highlights of our trip was the spa — the services were absolutely amazing. Every treatment we experienced was expertly done, leaving us relaxed and refreshed. It’s a must-do if you're staying at the resort. The food and drinks were another highlight. Every meal was delicious, and the drinks were always on point — fresh, flavorful, and plentiful. Whether poolside or at dinner, the culinary offerings exceeded our expectations. The only downside of our trip was the sargassum (seaweed) on the beach. Unfortunately, it was heavy during our visit, which made the beach largely unusable. While this is a natural and seasonal issue that many Caribbean destinations face, it was disappointing not to be able to fully enjoy the otherwise beautiful beachfront. That said, the resort made up for it in many other ways. The property itself was nice, open, lots of relaxing areas. The beach is small but also close to the resort so easy access to the water. Unfortunately, the Sargasm decided to visit earlier than normal but the resort did a great job clearing the beach. My only disappointment was the food as there were not enough fish or shrimp options and the menus were obscure, and I am an adventurous eater. Another issue was the main pool has NO lounge chairs just beds and they are not conducive to sitting comfortably and there are not enough for everyone anyway. Overall, the resort was peaceful and beautiful, and I enjoyed my week there.

We absolutely love ABR! Our family has been visiting this resort for the past 15 years, and it continues to be a special place for us. Each year, we notice thoughtful updates and improvements, all while maintaining the natural beauty of the grounds, which blend seamlessly with the surroundings. Everything is always impeccably clean, and the staff is consistently kind, polite, and attentive. We especially enjoy the 8 AM yoga sessions, daily beach volleyball, and the wide variety of delicious food and drinks. While the evening entertainment could use some improvement—most nights the bands don't quite energize the crowd—there’s always a great atmosphere in the main palapa after dinner. Sundays are a highlight, with a fantastic Salsa/Cumbia band that gets everyone on the dance floor! During our recent stay, the sargassum issue affected the beaches, which was unfortunate but beyond anyone’s control. Akumal Bay is typically home to some of the most stunning beaches and snorkeling we’ve ever experienced. Overall, we love this resort for its welcoming, international vibe and outstanding customer service. We look forward to returning again!

Nice and clean room ,very friendly employees Food was good, Mexican restaurant was the best. Big disappointment was the beach, tons seagrass prevent swimming . Because of that pool was overcrowded .

This is a really nice, quiet resort, it's not as new and shiny as others, but the staff does an excellent job maintaining the property and keeping it clean. The food was good, especially the Mexican and Peruvian restaurants. The rooms were really clean. It is a beautiful property and I would definitely go back.

We love the snorkeling at the resort and the staff. The room we had 2001 needed work. Broken mirror. Light fixture hanging from ceiling. We had cockroaches in the room. Box springs had holes in it. Air conditioner did not cool down enough. Lowest was 24. Maids didn’t clean very well. Paint was falling off the wall in the bathroom. The maids didn’t clean the floors. The sheets on the bed was a flat sheet that didn’t fit.

Alimentation moyen, pas de grande saveur, pas de fruit mûr Sans saveur petit déjeuner varié, mais pas de très très grande qualité Plage, très belle, si ce n’est que nous ne savions pas qu’il y avait des roches et qui fallait absolument s’acheter des chaussures pour pouvoir aller dans l’eau Les sièges du restaurant du buffet vraiment très sale, les transats de la piscine, vraiment très sale, pas terrible , le service, de très bonne qualité, les gens sympathique pa Rapport qualité prix moyen

Das Positive vorweg: Das Hotel Akumal Bay hat einen tollen Service, egal in welcher Position: sehr zuvorkommend und auch authentisch und freundlich. Der Strand ist wundervoll, teilweise ist der Einstieg sehr steinig - Vorsicht ! Seegras wird hier mit aller Macht bekämpft, sehr erträglich. Leider waren wir jedoch mit dem Hotel größtenteils nicht zufrieden: 1.) Essenauswahl überhaupt nicht mexikanisch, das Essen war auch weitestgehend nicht gut. Poolbar Mittagsbuffet sehr verdreckt, verschmutzt und unappetitlich. 2.) Cocktails fürchterlich, billiger Fusel wird hier ausgeschenkt. Lieber nur Wasser trinken, ist auch gesünder. 3.) Die Zimmer sind sehr hellhörig und teilweise gibt es schon einige Defekte, z.B. klemmende Tür, ausgehängte Schiebetür, defektes Fliegengitter. 4.) Der Pool ist versifft und total warm, hier saßen den ganzen Tag unsere amerikanischen Mitmenschen in Ganzkörperschwimmanzug, Schwimmhut und 1 Liter Trinkbechern und unterhielten sich lautstark. Alles in allem sind wir -gerade auch in dieser Preiskategorie- nicht zufrieden gewesen.

The resort is delightfully small and very clean - perfect for a relaxing holiday. The housekeeping is top notch. Nice white sandy beach. There was sargassum (sea weed) but it was everywhere in the bay and not within the control of the resort. They did their best to clear it. The Staff at the resort are attentive, friendly, authentically happy and eager to please. Whenever we came upon staff throughout the property, we were always greeted with a smile and an “hola”. We were given stellar service by the following: (to name only a few) Buffet: Daniela,; Michelle; Marco; Hector; Otilio; Carla Tec; Carla Ek; Antonio; and Aurora - (the omelet lady) who was extremely friendly and consistently, much to our amazement, recalled each guest’s preferences in detail. Conceriege/lobby/lounge: Luis Fernando; Gil Huerta; and Erick Quezeda. Lobby bar/coffee: Marcia; Blanca; Whilbert; Lidia; and Alejandra. The pool area recreation staff: Jessica and Alejandro - these two friendly outgoing athletes lead morning easy stretch, yoga, cardio (mild) in the pool, which was fun, healthy and an enjoyable social event. There is nightly music in the open air lounge and it’s very well done, with a variety of performers during the week. We did not miss the loud disco party that many resorts have. The dining options are excellent - from the buffet to the specialty restaurants. We spent 2 weeks at the resort and will defiantly be planning a return visit.
The resort is delightfully small and very clean - perfect for a relaxing holiday. The housekeeping is top notch. Nice white sandy beach. There was sargassum (sea weed) but it was everywhere in the bay and not within the control of the resort. They did their best to clear it. The Staff at the resort are attentive, friendly, authentically happy and eager to please. Whenever we came upon staff throughout the property, we were always greeted with a smile and an “hola”. We were given stellar service by the following: (to name only a few) Buffet: Daniela,; Michelle; Marco; Hector; Otilio; Carla Tec; Carla Ek; Antonio; and Aurora - (the omelet lady) who was extremely friendly and consistently, much to our amazement, recalled each guest’s preferences in detail. Conceriege/lobby/lounge: Luis Fernando; Gil Huerta; and Erick Quezeda. Lobby bar/coffee: Marcia; Blanca; Whilbert; Lidia; and Alejandra. The pool area recreation staff: Jessica and Alejandro - these two friendly outgoing athletes lead morning easy stretch, yoga, cardio (mild) in the pool, which was fun, healthy and an enjoyable social event. There is nightly music in the open air lounge and it’s very well done, with a variety of performers during the week. We did not miss the loud disco party that many resorts have. The dining options are excellent - from the buffet to the specialty restaurants. We spent 2 weeks at the resort and will defiantly be planning a return visit.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We had a Penthouse room which was lovely with 2 exceptions - a toilet that isn\'t private is not ideal - a full door isn\'t too much to ask. Also, the room never got cooler than 26 degrees C, despite the AC being on full blast at all times. We stopped at the front desk to ask about it, and they said the penthouse rooms just "don\'t get that cool" which is unacceptable in a very warm environment. The specialty restaurants were good with excellent service (if you were fine with going at 6pm or 8:30pm, otherwise had to wait 45mins to an hour), but the buffet was pretty bad (for breakfast, lunch, or dinner). The buffet had lots of options, but nothing that was very flavorful or cooked well. Drinks are weak (as usual at an all inclusive resort). The hunger games starting at 7:30am to get a beach chair or day bed is tiring - provide enough seats for your guests. Live entertainment (a singer or a band every evening) was lovely, and the waitresses there are great and work their tails off. Overall, it was a great trip and the hotel itself is beautiful. Foodies or heavy drinkers, look elsewhere to avoid disappointment. I recommend implementing an online reservation system for the restaurants to make things run smoother.

Every room in the facility has an ocean view. I've stayed here numerous times and it never disappoints. They are consistently upgrading and improving the property. The staff is amazing. I've never had a bad experience here. If I could give them 10 Stars I would.

Our junior sweet in building 4 was spacious, modern, and comfortable. All balconies have impressive ocean views and jacuzzi tubs. The entire property is very scenic and well-maintained. There are plentiful drinking/dining options and the food and drinks rarely disappointed. We went for the holidays and the Christmas dinner was a true feast. Lots of activities are available at the resort and the surrounding area. The beach has tons of space, although beach chairs could be tricky to find if you get there after 10AM. The staff and service were the defining highlight for us. Everyone was incredibly attentive and friendly. We really appreciated the relative quiet and serenity of Akumal in comparison to Cancun and even Tulum. We would strongly recommend Akumal Bay to anyone looking for an amazing vacation.

Beautiful setting and lovely property but make sure you ask for a room in the new part of the building. I was given a rooftop suite in the old building and it smelt terribly of sewage. Then I had to go and ask for a change which was really inconvenient as I'd arrived at 3.00 a.m. my time so was jet lagged. Water sometimes took a long time to be delivered to the room. Electricity is sometimes erratic so lifts were not always available so if you have mobility issues, ask for ground floor accommodation. Staff friendly and well-trained. Overall enjoyed my stay and wonderful to be directly on the beach.

Pro: super nice beach for swimming in the ocean; pleasant and helpful staff. Con: Our first room was old, rundown and the "oceanfront" view was hidden behind a tree. After the first night, we asked for a new room and they happily obliged. Don't stay in bldg. 1 - it's run down. Our TV didn't work, the toilet was behind a small glass door (no privacy), and paint was falling off the walls. They moved us to a remodeled room in bldg. 3. SO MUCH BETTER. Their drinks are watered down and they use very cheap liquor. I was not impressed by the food in the main dining hall. It was hit or miss. The restaurants were hard to get into and only two were good. The maid let us completely run out of toilet paper, so we had to call for more. I was disappointed that we didn't have an abundance of authentic Mexican food. We got some off campus, and it was the best meal we had the whole trip. I would recommend this facility due to location, the beach, and the lovely staff. Food and drink were very disappointing. They say no tips are required, but this is not true. Even the staff will guide you on how and when to tip.

We've been to ABBR many many times. The location is great. The rooms are nice as well. It seems there are fewer workers so it takes longer to get service on the beach and at the pool. The food in the buffet needs to be kept warmer, much warmer. They've been working on improvements; hopefully, they will continue.

This was our second and most likely last vacation in this resort. 1. AC in the room was not working. We asked to fix it several times. And it appears we weren’t the only ones. Several guests had the same problem and it was never fixed. 2. If you come to the beach after 8am - 99% you will not find free umbrella. We got lucky once. 3. Even though we booked 8 months in advance and at the time of booking asked for a room away from the main pool we were given room right in front of it. When asked to change rooms they said that nothing was available. Positives: 1. The beach is beautiful and if you’re into snorkeling you will not be disappointed. 2. Staff is friendly and our room was cleaned promptly. 3. Brazilian restaurant was very good. Hope this will help others to decide if this place is good for them.

We had an amazing time staying at the Akumal Bay Beach & Wellness Resort! The location was perfect, making it so easy for us to visit all the iconic places we had on our list. The resort itself was beautiful and well maintained, with plenty of amenities to keep us entertained during our stay. We especially enjoyed learning about the reef turtles from Alex's presentation! The staff members were incredibly friendly and helpful, always going above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and happy. We met German and Joel during our vacation and I must say, they were an absolute delight! They treated us like family from the moment we arrived, always making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Their eagerness to help was truly heartwarming and made our stay even more enjoyable. We must also highlight how much the evening performances delighted us. Every thing was great: room, pools, beach, restaurant, food, live music, drinks, but special the workers, not only they work hard, but specially how nice they are, how hard they do to be sure that be are happy. The 5 star rating of this all inclusive resort is not justified. Travelling solo at this resort I was treated like a second class citizen. I often sat waiting and watching as couples and families were seated in the resteraunts before me even though I arrived and checked in well before before they did. One evening I waited an hour and a half while I watched multiple couples and families walk right in and be seated. Thankfully one of the staff members recognized me from another resteraunt and when I told her I was forgotten she sat me right away. The Good: The majority of the staff were warm and welcoming. Cleaning crew always greeted while walking the halls. The room (Penthouse 4th BLDG) was clean and had a nice view. Bed was very comfortable. The Bad: Pools were cloudy. No towels to be found at smaller pools requiring a hike to the main pool to get one. Crowded beach with not enough chairs or shade. You must get up at 6am and secure a spot. Bars use bottom shelf liquor, unless you specifically ask for name brand. Frozen drinks not blended enough with large chunks of ice Food was scarce and terrible. This was the worst part of the trip.

Selection of restaurants was very good as was the main dining buffet, bars everywhere and no pressure to tip. Room was splendid cleaned every day, great bedding. Beach fabulous and good off beach snorkeling. Can’t rate it high enough!

I’ll say what was good only. Staff are very nice and pleasant to deal with. Beach is awesome, Raymond is the house evening entertainment, is great and imho underappreciated there. On weds the band Goliath plays and they rock! Leaving my review at that and that should speak volumes.

I went to snorkel with the many turtles that were supposedly there.(Akumal- place of the turtles) Instead the whole area was totally covered in a type of seaweed. Dump trucks and bulldozers worked all day, starting at 6:30 in the morning to clear the beaches.The hotel itself was ok, kind of old and tired. The staff was very good.

The location in Akumal Bay was wonderful. The beach was beautiful and we saw turtles, rays, coral, and fish galore while snorkeling. The area was safe and convenient for walking. The property was beautiful and well laid out. We ate at several different restaurants with different cuisines. One item to kepe in mind, most of the restaurants are not air conditioned so we tried to sit by the windows or on patios as well as dress lightly. We relaxed on lounge chairs under a nice umbrella on the beach each day. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful and made the stay delightful. The overall location was convenient for getting to/from TQO airport and to/from local attractions.

Wij verbleven een week in dit hotel met een gezin met twee kinderen. We zaten in blok 4, redelijk recent gerestaureerd. Wel wat verschil tussen de kamers, wij kregen geen slippers, de kinderen wel. Wij kregen meer water, de kinderen minder. We hebben regelmatig gevraagd voor extra handdoeken want de kamer was vochtig dus niets werd droog. Op het dek hadden wij zitstoeltjes maar de buren deckchairs wat wij ook hadden verwacht want dat ligt toch lekkerder. De kamer heeft een goede afmeting, er is meer dan genoeg ruimte en het bed sliep heerlijk. Er wordt ook goed schoongemaakt. Voor het eten waren de verwachtingen laag en dat klopte ook met de werkelijkheid. Een paar restaurants, te weinig tafels dus in de rij (!!) om 18.00 uur of wachten tot 19:45. Kwaliteit middelmatig met 1 uitzondering: er is een sushibar, open van 12.30 tot 18.00. Perfect en smaakvol. Soms een lange rij maar het is het wachten meer dan waard. Het buffet is praktisch, voor iedereen wel iets te vinden. Alleen bij het ontbijt moesten we vaak lang wachten op ons drinken. Dan het strand en de ligbedden. Er worden handdoeken op de ligbedden neergelegd terwijl mensen dan uren later pas verschijnen alsof je in een goedkoop hotel zit. Als wij dit van te voren hadden geweten, waren we hier niet naartoe gegaan. Zorg voor voldoende bedden, maak het strand en de bedden schoon en verbied deze ‘’claim je stoel met een handdoek’ ellende. Super triest en het voelt goedkoop.

Worst thing was the food. Buffet was only good for breakfast, lunch and dinner were almost uneatable. Specialty restaurants were better but the cooks would only cook what they wanted, twice we wre told that we couldn't order things on the menus and when we complained they suddenly were able to make them. Put our name on a list to get in one and watched as people who added their names after us were admited before us, this also wasn't corrected till I complained. Room was ok but needed repairs, bed was uncomfortable, service was hit and miss with some staff providing true 5 star service but most NOT. We have stayed at this resort in the past and had recommended to many people, not any more. Best they offered us with all this was a discount on a return trip, explained that this will not happen that our next trip will be at a different resort. At what we paid for this trip we could have been on a Celebrity cruise in a premium class with better food and service.

We've been to ABBR many many times. The location is great. The rooms are nice as well. It seems there are fewer workers so it takes longer to get service on the beach and at the pool. The food in the buffet needs to be kept warmer, much warmer. They've been working on improvements; hopefully, they will continue.

The best thing is the ocean view and the magic of Akumal bay . It is quiet and safe . The staff working for over 10 years in this resort are very nice and helpful . The new hires kids from the block not so helpful . The food : bufet dinner and lunch not great . Too much cheap Chinese rice food , cheap paella, cheap pizza , cheap gelatin deserts. It used to be amazing Mexican fresh authentic food ten years ago .

excellent location, beautiful beach and great snorkeling. extremely clean and well kept property. service was good but could have been more attentive (not being seated/drink orders taken at buffet, soaps/shampoos/water not replenished by housekeeping, etc). a la Cartes restaurants VERY good. buffet was fairly typical, but had lots of nice Mexican options. chair saving an issue, but staff always available at beach to help you find a spot/remove towels. great resort for lower mobility individuals as there are elevators and everything is in close proximity. extra points for the resident resort cat.

Lovely staff. Great beach. Good drinks. Food was nice in the buffet but not the easiest for vegetarians. Only 1 vegetarian dish at each a la carte restaurant and no willingness from the hotel to be flexible. But the buffet had good options most of the time (though not always sign posted)

Great property. Enough beach and pool chairs. Room was well thought out, great view of ocean. Steamer in room instead of iron was a nice touch. Alcohol was too shelf and drinks were amazing. We are at all the restaurants for dinner. No problem if you tried to eat before 7. Loved no reservations. Great stay, would go back in a heartbeat.

The resort stretches along the coast so there are plenty of seaview rooms. We stayed in building 4 which was great if you prefer quiet and don't mind a little more walking for restaurants. Buildings 1 and 2 are closer to the restaurants and swimming beach. We tried all the food venues except sushi and all of them were really good whether you are in the mood for a relaxed sit down dinner or prefer the speed and variety of a buffet you have good choices. We enjoyed snorkeling in front of the resort and appreciated the great yoga classes. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The fridge was resupplied daily but with all the food and drink options we did not need much in the room.

We only saw turtles when we went out of the resort and paid for the guides. The food from the buffet and room service gave us a tummy ache everyday unfortunately. The drinks were okay, there was not a lot to do to be honest. We had a decent time though and the staff was always there to help.

Our room was fantastic, Alan was a huge help in making our vacation amazing, all of the staff were friendly and helpful, and we had a wonderful session with their in house photographer Conrado. The on site restaurants were all great, and the buffet always had plenty of options.
