I absolutely loved the pool.Enjoyed staying there for 10 days.Now the negative.The hotel requires the guests to leave an ID in order to get towels for the pool, we left my wife’s ID and they lost it which is unacceptable. We had to leave without her ID. She‘s still very upset.

El hotel está muy padre lamentablemente nos tocó en remodelación y construcción lo cual ahí algunas lonas algunas maderas que hacen bastante ruido por las noches con el aire la alberca igual nos tocó en mantenimiento pero se ve muy agradable espero volver por qué si me gustó mucho y espero cuando vuelva ya terminen lo que están construyendo y funcione todo como alberca elevador etc

The only advantage that we have,was the close to the downtown Playa del Carmen,the water was coming from the sink,yellow;the sheets were not cleaned,the shower was clogged,all the water was getting out of shower,making it unsafe for us;asked for a moped at 9:00pm,they said it was closed the cleaning area,the internet never worked,it was a disaster,when I did my check out,it was raining and we seated waiting for our transportation and the ceiling was dripping water from roof…….never again……thanks for my unsafe staying

Really nice hotel. Basic rooms. AC nice and quiet. No outside noise. As for breakfast better go outside. Restaurant that serves breakfast very disorganized, you will waste a lot of time. Hotel itself is nice and very clean.

We were a little nervous booking a hotel for 2 weeks without seeing it...but it turned out great. We stayed in a room with a patio door that opened into a courtyard surrounded by 7 other rooms. That meant natural light and fresh air, two really improtant things for me in a hotel room! The room had a good closet, a safe (we didn't use it) and a mini fridge. It was leaking the first day we plugged it in, maintenance came by and put a towel behind it... problem solved LOL. We had a king bed, a table for 2 with 2 chairs. Just what we needed for the in room meals when were were taking a break from eating out. The bed had a bottom, sheet, a top sheet and a light blanket. In September we didn't need it! The air conditioner worked well (even though I only turned it on sporadically to cool down the room). The bathroom had a tub, not very often do I see that! The "rain shower head" was in the middle of the tub so lots of room for hubby and I to shower together :) NOTE- as a woman with long hair I HATE these showers. There is never enough pressure. We had a problem the first day with a bit of a water leadk out of the pipe coming out of the roof to the shower, maintenace came and "patched" it. By the end of our 2 weeks there, the slow leak peeled the paint away on the roof around the shower head. A water cooler to fill our own bottles WIN! Really nice front desk staff WIN! Restaurant right next door with GREAT prices and variety WIN! Tienda across the street selling ICE WIN WIN!

Overall I enjoyed my stay here. The room was clean but a bit small. Not bad though. The restaurant next door is very good. The WiFi is the only thing I had an issue with. It was sketchy at best. It was a bit noisy at night but quieted down after midnight. I definitely recommend this hotel.

We had a lovely time staying at Hotel Colonial in PDC! The staff was friendly and helpful, always willing to suggest activities or call a taxi when we needed it. They also speak English and Spanish for those who may not be as familiar with Spanish. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and clean, exactly what we needed to come back to after long days of activities. We also spent a good amount of time by the pool which was just perfect! The area around the hotel felt very safe and was only a short walk from the beach and Quinta Avenida so we walked pretty much everywhere! If you are looking for a good local restaurant to try, we frequently stopped by Muelle de Chema right next door - the food is delicious and the staff are very kind and friendly. Overall, a fantastic experience!! I would recommend this Hotel Colonial to anyone!!!

Communication was poor before arrival. Comments said front desk closed at 6:00 pm and I was arriving close to midnight. I sent several messages to them before I got a clear answer that there was a front desk clerk 24 hours a day. Also, I had booked a room with picture of a fridge, but they told me in comments no rooms had fridges. I had one after all. Comments did not explain to you that there is an elevator too.

UNFORTUNATE EXPERIENCE My recent stay at the hotel has unfortunately ensued an abhorrent event that I cannot overlook. While I appreciate the comforting amenities and convenient location of the property, the integrity of the staff raised significant concerns during my stay. One of the cleaning staff members, regrettably, tampered with our personal belongings and, most shockingly, STOLE our money. I would like to highlight that this sort of behavior wholly diminishes the reputation of the hotel. It neglects the supposed guarantee of security and trust we as guests are to expect upon booking with your esteemed institution. Hence, I am sharing our experience publicly, allowing potential guests to be well-informed before making a decision to stay. Moving forward, I strongly believe that proper staff vetting and training should be put in place to prevent such violations of trust. After all, hospitality isn't just about accommodating guests, it's about ENSURING safety, respect, and privacy.

Just left Hotel Colonial after a 7 night stay. Everyone at the hotel from the people that worked behind the desk, to the Security Guard (Abraham), to the maids, all were so friendly and helpful and all treated me like a VIP (which I'm not!) Basic room, but a king sized bed, refrigerator, a/c, great water pressure, room safe, and tv. I couldn't find any English speaking channels, but I wasn't there to watch tv, so really not an issue. Food carts right around the corner on Calle 2. Fifth Avenue 3 blocks away. El Fogon, on Avenida 30 a 5 minute walk. Walmart & Mega app a 10-12 walk (max). I didn't use the pool, but it was very big and right behind the lobby, looked great. No elevators, but I was only 1 floor up so no issues for me. I would stay at Hotel Colonisl again without hesitation.

J'ai réservé une chambre basic mais impossible de dormir car un bruit insupportable de pompe deffectueuse toute la nuit. Quand j'ai demandé de changer de chambre on m'a dit qu'il fallait suppléer , je lui ai dit que ce n était pas de ma faute et qu au contraire, ils auraient dû me mettre dans une autre chambre en compensation. J'ai demandé de le signaler au responsable qui ne voulait rien savoir, juste encaisser l argent et rien à faire du confort et bien-être du client, après 2h de discussion inutile j'ai demandé à quitter l hôtel et me rembourser ; là à nouveau ils ne voulaient rien entendre, alors je leurs ai dit que j allais à la police puisque j avais payé 3nuits et pas de remboursement possible. Du coup, je suis allée à la police et en revenant fait ma valise pour quitter l établissement. Après avoir passé une nuit blanche totale, mettre énervée , ils m ont remboursée. Quel honte de la part du manager qui se tracasse uniquement d encaisser l argent dans se préoccuper de ses clients !! J'ai demandé à deux membres du personnel de vérifier et si il leurs était possible de dormir avec ce bruit, ils m'ont dit que c'est impossible, donc si ça l est pour eux comment j aurais pu ?? Je leurs ai demandé si je devais dormir à la réception, ils m'ont dit non qu il fallait aller dans ma chambre. Honnêtement le personnel n y est pour pas grand chose mais le manager un véritable arnaqueur, qui ne voulait absolument pas trouver de solution, en sachant que je suis arrivée à 2h du mat

Hotel Colonial is not a luxury resort, but it is more than adequate. Nice pool. Clean room. Safe and good location in Playa del Carmen. Programable room safe. Friendly staff. Restaurants and entertainment close . Beach is only a short walk away. Not far from ADO bus station.

La propiedad en general cumple pero no recomiendo que incluyan el desayuno en el paquete ya que abren tarde (7:30AM). La mayoría de las excursiones requieren estén antes de esa hora para salir. Asi que pierdes dinero. En los alrededores hay muchos lugares de comida exquisita y auténtica. La propiedad en general está limpia, aunque las habitaciones tienen detalles que se pueden mejorar.

El personal es súper amable! Hay tiendas enfrente y un restaurante a un lado súper delicioso! En general el hotel y el personal excelente, la limpieza muy bien! Solo deben tener cuidado con un mapache que se mete a los pasillos del hotel! Si no lo molestas no te hace absolutamente nada! Pero no intentes tocarlo o alimentarlo porque es agresivo!

Absolutely loved my stay. It was very convenient getting around and so close to everything. Staff was amazing and will definitely stay again. Cant wait to see whats happening on roof.. only thing i could ask for is ability to suntan at hotel. Thank you so much 💓
