Cherry Tree Inn & Suites

Had a lovely time, would stay here again. Complimentary coffee, tea, hot chocolate 24/7. Hot breakfast every morning. Nice large pool with a roomy hot tub. Even a little arcade room with some pinball machines. I felt like the room itself felt larger than other hotels I have stayed in. We came in late November, so didnt use the beach amenities, but a lovely stay to rest for a few days.

Our stay was so restorative and relaxing: comfy beds, good water view, lake access, and delicious hot breakfast every day. Laura was on top of everything and a cheerful presence. The desk staff were welcoming and helpful with questions and requests. The cleaning staff too were diligent and responsive to requests. Location was about 5 miles from downtown where there are numerous excellent restaurants and shops. All in all a great stay. Highly recommended.

Internet was out for 3 days. Elevator was out of service for the same 3 days (we were on the 4th floor) There didn't seem to be any urgency to get both issues resolved.

Pools are awesome

Includes standard daily breakfast which was nice as local eateries are expensive. Beds and pillows were comfortable. Had some recurring plumbing issues, but maintenance was responsive. Location was nice on the eastern bay with a beach and both indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs.

Polite and accomodating staff. Vey clean and comfortable. Something for everyone. Beach, beach volleyball, indoor pool, outdoor pool and hot tub. Kayaks, parasailing,jet skiing, and different boats are also available. A courtesy shuttle that will take you and pick you up to destinations in I believe about a 10 mile radious, which covers a lot in the Travers City area. A nice hot breakfast. We had a wonderful time and are planning to go back next year.

For the money it was OK. The Lake view and my Bayview suite was blocked by tall invasive grass. Entering the living room area had a sour smell, likely from people going in and out wet. The Internet did not work in the suite, but they did comp me the room fees. The hot tub in the outside pool was never on, but the inside pool and hot tub was fine, though crowded at times. The bedroom, the bed and the bathroom was great. Definitely OK for families with small children, but not exactly what I expected. It still wasn’t too bad. The staff was definitely nice, and worked very hard to try and make sure everyone was accommodated.

We come here every year and every year I feel like they improve. Breakfast was better this trip. The staff was so pleasant. There was always someone cleaning something. My son went on a fishing charter and they froze the fish for us. The kids loved the SUP, they were a big hit with them. They used them daily. We also loved the fire pit area. Bring your smore supplies with you. My only complaint was the beach towels seem to have shrunk from last year. But this year the towels were more plentiful and the pool and beach. Overall we love this hotel its our favorite.

This is a great place to stay! We had a fantastic week. The beach is beautiful. The pools were clean and well maintained. They provide loungers, towels, paddle boards, yard games and a BBQ. There are fire pits, a lovely lounge area in the lobby that is stocked with games, and a well stocked store that has everything you may have forgotten/ could need, including moomers ice cream! The breakfast was included and was really great! The woman who prepares it, Laura, was an absolute doll! She worked so hard to make sure that everything was enjoyable for all, even making special accommodations whenever possible. She is so personable and really an amazing part of the overall fantastic staff! Everyone was very friendly and eager to help make sure we had an amazing stay! Can’t recommend enough!

Nice place on the beach. Outdoor hot tub jets didn't work, but the indoor was nice.

Nice location right on the lake. Unfortunately, our room on the first floor was smelling like mold, the carpet was really dirty, and there was not a screen door, so we couldn't keep the door open

It was our first stay at this resort. We arrived to our hotel and went out for a late dinner. When we returned and got ready for bed, we noticed the sheets were covered in hair. We went down for new sheets and were given the wrong size sheet. To ‘make it right’ they only waived the $16 resort fee. Making a bed twice, going back and forth to the reception area, is not my idea of a relaxing get away, nor what we wanted to be doing at midnight.

Stayed in a Walloon Lake Suite. Had a lovely view of the bay. The room was nice and the staff was super friendly. The breakfast in the morning was a nice touch. The room and property overall were very clean. A wonderful experience and will definitely stay there again!

Hot tub and atmosphere were amazing, breakfast and coffee were accommodating. Was not a fan of the surprise daily non refundable “resort fee” that cost an extra $49.95. They said it was for incidentals however tee had none. There was what looked like a splatter of dirty diaper on the wall behind the trash and a large blood spot on our comforter…

Staff was friendly. However, when covers were pulled back on bed there was Saxon sheets and dirty. Housekeeping came quickly and changed everything out. No discount was offered.

Room was not clean. Hasn’t been dusted in months. Beds very uncomfortable, usb port not working and the bathroom fan made clicking noises all night. They don’t change bedding or towels unless you ask the day before. We will not go back.

Convenience to attractions was good. Clean, quiet room. Breakfast was better than average. Afternoon staff who I dealt most with was very friendly and helpful.

This property has a very nice sandy, swimmable beach with plenty of chairs for gathering. Our room was also clean with the exception of a stained carpet. There are several negatives about this hotel. The FREE breakfast, which believe me you pay for, is underwhelming. The first morning of our stay, arriving on time to breakfast, there was no food left. The dining area is very small and does not accommodate the amount of people staying at the hotel. The hallway carpeting was grossly dirty, groupings of dead flys were seen at ceiling height, dirty moldy windows noted throughout, damaged wallpaper and walls that need painting were seen throughout the complex. About 15 years ago I stayed at the Cherry Tree Inn and enjoyed the stay. The stay this time was very disappointing.

The front desk staff was friendly. The room was clean with an awesome view of the bay. Breakfast was solid, though the eating area gets full quickly. The only drawback was the highway right outside and the associated noise. A quality stay, overall.

We generally liked the hotel. The only issues were the shower was not hot and neither were the hot tubs by the pool.

This was not our first time staying at Cherry Tree. The staff is courteous, rooms are spacious, and the hotel is kept clean. For this trip in particular, we opted for a room without a view, since it was only for one night. Unfortunately, we ended up getting a room that looked directly into the indoor pool. Coupled with some rowdy kids in the evening, it was a bit difficult to drown out the noise when going to bed. As the property was far from full on this particular evening, it would’ve been nice to have the choice at another room regardless of view. If possible, it would be incredibly helpful to know when booking that the room looks into the interior pool.

Beautiful location right on the water. The outside pool was nice. I did not like the room because right outside the window was the indoor pool so if we had our curtain open, we were looking at everybody in the pool. It was very loud was strange.

Very nice 2 room suite facing Grand Traverse Bay. Small kitchenette area stocked with basic supplies. Large comfortable bed. TVs in bedroom and living room with very good channel lineup.. Nice bathroom with large shower. Everything was spotless. Convenient breakfast and on site parking. Excellent information booklet provided for city and surrounding area maps and details.

Breakfast was terrible. The pancakes that were served were horrible. Bacon was paper thin and extremely greasy. Yogurt was served in a large bowl instead of individual cups in a refrigerator. Coffee service table was average. Hot water was warm. Coffee tasted bitter. Mackinac suite was strange. You open up the room door and the bed was right there near the entrance. The living room was in the back where the balcony is. In between was the kitchenette and bathroom. The room should have been setup the other way around. Meaning the bedroom should be in the back of the room with the fireplace and balcony where it is quiet. With the bedroom located right near the entrance we heard the ding ding of the elevator and guests talking. The elevator was extremely slow, bouncy, and noisy. They had delicious chocolate chip cookies for ever guest every afternoon. These were offered Thursday afternoon through Sunday only. Unfortunately, we will never stay at this place again.

I used Expedia to book my stay at the Cherry Tree Inn & Suites in Traverse City, MI. I made the reservation for 6 people. We drove 4 hours to stay at this hotel. When we arrived we were put into a room with 2 Queen Beds. When I brought this up to the front desk, I was informed that my room actually was to sleep 4 with a MAX of 5 if we paid for a rollout bed. I told her that this was a mathematical impossibility as I made the reservation for 6 people and arrived with my 6 people. She then took a minute to compute what I had said and brought out another person who was able to move our group of 6 to a room that could accommodate and still stay compliant to the fire code. It was a room with 1 King Bed and a Pull Out Sofa. Still cant sleep 6. So they provided 2 roll out beds and then proceeded to tell me that there is a charge for the roll out beds but that they will be waiving them due to the inconvenience. Everything was fine until checkout when I saw on my receipt that I was being charged! Then they proceeded to tell me that there was nothing that they could do since the manager had just left and to call back on Monday. Now I cant get through to anyone. I would NOT recommend staying here just based on this service alone. There are plenty of other options in Traverse City that I would consider before ever staying here again.

Great staff and the hotel provided transportation to downtown for festival. Towels were very nice. The room faced the roof and was not aware there was an additional charge for resort fees but overall very good.

Great place to stay, very convenient to everything. The staff was beyond friendly and helpful. Laura who runs the breakfast is the Best we've ever experienced - caring, thoughtful, sweet & kind. Always there to help out the kids who didn't know how to work the waffle machine or split milk everywhere.

Overall, we loved our stay! Upon arrival, the woman who checked us in went above and beyond in assuring that we would have the best accommodations. She was very helpful with all our questions and even took us on a tour of the possible rooms we could change our booking to in order to have a lake view suite. All of the options we saw were very nice and spacious. Every member of the staff was a pleasure to interact with and the room, view and area was everything we needed for our getaway. The only complaints we had were that the noise of people walking above us or opening/closing doors was a bit loud and on our first day, the hot water wasn't working. However after informing the staff, and shortly after my husband had finished his cold shower, it was fixed. Our last night the smoke detector went off in the lobby outside our door and the front desk didn't answer after multiple times trying to call from the room phone to see what was going on. I'm sure it was because they were busy, but it would've been nice to be in the loop. The only reason we knew everything was fine is because we went out to the lobby and happened to pass a staff member as they walked in with fire fighters. I don't know what happened, but nothing seemed to be urgently wrong. All things considered though, the good definitely outweighed the bad and we enjoyed our stay.

Very friendly staff and nice place. Easy to get to. They offer a free shuttle to downtown and casino.

On east bay. Traverse has major construction and the hotel offers free shuttle service drop off pick up all over! Huge perk. No toiletries in room so pack ur own. Clean. Staff are very helpful. My room was as pictured. Few restaurants walkable, shuttle drives you to downtown area for more selection.

The hotel is a little hidden away, but once you make the right turn into the parking lot, it is absolutely beautiful. The views are exquisite, the bed is comfortable amenities are amazing and the breakfast was really good.

Perfect for lakeside enjoyment! Plenty of chairs at the beach, firepits on the beach, beautiful sunsets, paddle boards & relaxing. Cons were only 1 elevator to wait for often. Breakfast was busy & the staff did a great job keeping it full.

This was our 2nd time to this property. We had another amazing experience. Beautiful views, nice breakfast included, helpful staff. Shuttle provided was amazing. We will be back:)

This was a good stay. The property was easily found, on the lake, and around many restaurants. We drove out to Mission Point and enjoyed the drive. Our room was large, very clean, and well appointed. My wife judges hotels by bath towels, and Cherry Tree’s were huge and soft. I would say that the shower floor was a bit slick, and perhaps should be addressed. The breakfast was hot and appetizing, with numerous options. Very nice. This property was a value.

Cute little get away on the water. Enjoyed the provided breakfast, heated indoor pool and hot tub. Area is a decent distance from downtown TC and wineries. Didn’t use the shuttle to the casino because I was with my kids but will next time. Definitely would stay here again.

Decent location and close to downtown. The hotel had a nice location and decent amenities. It was a little aged and had some updates. The breakfast area was rather small and a lot of people were sitting in the same room. The breakfast was not great, but it was provided. The room was spacious and had great views of the lake. There was trash in the cans in the room that were not emptied, and it may be question the cleanliness of the room. Besides that, everything else was good.
