Comfort Inn Salt Lake City Downtown

The breakfast was great, however the room had puke stains on the floor, hair in the shower, we had a maid walk in while showering within 20 minutes of us getting into the room initially. The front desk lady was somewhat accommodating but very annoyed and in a bad mood. The AC unit was incredibly loud, hot tub is out of commission, parking is extremely limited.

Clean, friendly staff. Old building, dining area and hallways without air conditioning. Breakfast was mediocre.

We are pretty upset about our hotel. We booked it because it had a pool and a hot tub but when we got here the pool and hot tub are non working and have been for a long time with no future opening they told us it’s closed indefinitely. The heat doesn’t work in our room, the side and rear entrance key card doors don’t work, the shower is cold, with someone’s hair all over the bath tub and generally it doesn’t look anything like the posted pictures of the hotel.

I made my reservation while I was on the Amtrak train the night of my stay. I arrived in Salt Lake City on Amtrak at 11:45 PM. I called the hotel to confirm that my reservation was booked, since I had made it through hotel.com. First things first, the bed was super comfortable, and the night desk attendant was extremely helpful. I was very tired when I got to the hotel, and the gentleman was very friendly. He helped me purchase a Dr Pepper from their refrigeration machine. I found the first-floor corner room quieter than I expected. Unfortunately, Amtrak had shipped my luggage to San Jose, California, and I didn’t have any change of clothes. I washed my clothes by hand in the bathroom sink and shower, and to my great surprise, this place had a washer and dryer. I used the dryer the next morning to dry my clothes, and it was a great benefit to me. I wasn’t able to use their fitness center, but it looked pretty good for a hotel stay and was right next to the washer and dryer units. As everyone comments on their breakfast, I thought it was really good. I really like their juices and the way they cook their scrambled eggs “like a pancake patty” (see my pictures), and their sausage. The waffle maker was really good, and I was able to enjoy some of their muffins, too, all delicious. I have stayed at the Comfort Inn on the East Coast and the West Coast, and I really think they’re a great value for the minimalist traveler that I am.

Parkiing is tight for a truck

Off street parking was good, though if you come back late finding a spot is difficult. The rooms are clean but are very outdated. The hotel seems to have policies for homeless shelter. We had couple across our room who fought loudly for hours early morning.

Parking is limited and there is a limited outdoor area for dogs to potty.

Older property, so a little outdated. The windows were dirty and the temperature in the common areas was uncomfortably warm. All in all, okay for the price.

Stayed for two nights in June. The hotel is a bit older but has a nice central location. Our room (159) was externally accessed and had lots of wear and tear though nothing scary. Pool area was down for repairs and looks like it may be a while. I worked from the room both days and the wi-fi could not support both a voice and video connection without failing. Pros: Location, price, hot breakfast, comfy king bed. Cons: Room was a bit rough, no pool area, limited parking, Wi-Fi spotty and slow. Final thoughts: The bed was nice and breakfast was hot and better than the typical fare. The location is fantastic for access to downtown area, A good value for those not spending time in their rooms to work. Would probably pay a bit more to stay elsewhere next work trip

I’m not usually someone to complain like this but we received a room that had at least 3-4 cockroaches crawling around the bed area and bathroom. At a rate of 135 dollars for 1 night at the comfort inn I feel that this was a little ridiculous especially considering how I told a staff member about this issue and they didn’t do anything to accommodate us or help.

Room felt with lots of moisture in the room. Sheets felt a little damp still. A saw a small roach on the counter. Parking is terrible. I couldnt get the heater to come on. Not worth the Almost 400 i spent on two nights.

I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. Two of the lights didn’t work in the room. Everything was stained, including the sofa bed, the bedding, and the curtains. The shower leaked, the water never got hot, and there was inconsistent water pressure even if you wanted to take a lukewarm shower. One of the sink faucets leaked, only got lukewarm, and had poor water pressure. The other sink faucet lever was loose, so you couldn’t change the temperature of the water unless you turned it off and then turned it back on at the spot you wanted. There wasn’t anyone there for checkout in the morning. There was garbage in the lobby. Overall, I am glad I only spent 12 hours at this hotel.

The room was dirty, the bath tub had yellow film floating along the bottom of the tub. Trash was every where, the TV did not work. We lasted 20 minutes in the room before checking out and leaving to a different hotel.

Carpet had blood stains in the room.

Check in staff was very rude at first. Very condescending. The room smelled like must. Parking the first night was horrible. The room was falling apart. Very obvious certain parts weren’t cleaned.

Wonderful clean and quiet room. Checking in with my two dogs was easy and I left something important in the room that they went and found then held it at the front for me! Very professional and kind staff!

The location was good and the staff was very friendly. However, the tub did not drain properly, the towels had hair in them, there were beer cans in the trash when i arrived, the electric in the lamps did not work (they fixed it after i asked), the tv remote had several nonworking buttons (power, volume did not work), and the floors were dirty in my room. There were several scratches, stains and marks on walls and furniture, drawers did not pull correctly - this hotel needs a LOT of TLC.

We only stayed one night passing through. It was a nice place but the air con was very loud. Plenty for breakfast and a short walk to town.

It was ok—a little shabby inside the room ( needed craftsmanship and repairs on the walls and closet area) and the street traffic noise from 500 South in downtown Salt Lake was too noisy for me. Breakfast was nice. I disturbed the neighbor next door with the white noise on my iPhone which caused thunderous pounding on the wall between our rooms.

Keys didn’t work 2 out of 3 days. Tv turned off when using cell phone, and WiFi was unstable

Air conducting was LOUD (jet airplane, every ten minutes). Blew cold air directly on the bed-too cold and too loud. We finally turned the air conditioning off, so we could get some sleep. Window pane in window to outside parking lot was cracked and taped up, dirty windows. Curtains would not close tight-had to use stapler to close them for privacy.

Everything was great except the state of the room. The paint on the ceiling had water damage and was flaking off.

Very good! The staff here are very enthusiastic. When I needed a fruit knife to cut the fruit, she was very enthusiastic to help me.

The staff was very accommodating. The room was very clean and spacious, a great location downtown and an excellent price. There were plenty of pillows on the king bed. And I appreciate the fact that there is a top sheet and bottom sheet with the quilt in between.. the bed was soft and comfortable, and there were plenty of towels as well as hot water. I do not expect the interior or exterior to look like the Ritz Carlton due to the price, but this was excellent and very accommodating in my mind and I would stay here again.

We received absolutely unacceptable customer service from the manager, JJ. Check-in, cleanliness, breakfast, etc., were all good. But on the 2nd day of our stay we came back to a huge flood in our bathroom from a leak upstairs. Many of our personal belongings were ruined. We were given a new room, but the transfer took precious time. Then the new room’s AC went out during the night. Upon check-out we asked for a partial refund & the front desk attendant contacted his manager to authorize it. The manager, JJ, told him that he would not authorize a refund, since the flood & AC issues were out of their control and they “did us a favor” & “already helped us out” by giving us a new room. What?! Our room was unlivable. I asked to speak to JJ & was told he would call me the next day. It’s now been 4 days & I’ve heard nothing, even after calling more than once & being told JJ would call me back. At this point he could refund my entire stay & I would still find his customer service skills greatly lacking. Without the flood or AC problem our stay would have been lovely, but those issues exposed a greater issue: a manager who doesn’t care enough about his guests (or his own honor) to simply talk to them. I must note that Lua, one of the front desk attendants I have spoken to this week, was incredibly kind & helpful, & JJ is lucky to have such a great staff member working for him. Maybe she should get his job, especially if the owner wants to still have a “Comfort” Inn.

Front desk check in person was amazing.

Very helpful staff; everyone was attentive & pleasant. The young man who helped with directions to various places was much appreciated. The front desk was attended by staff which is also much appreciated.

This motel is in a terrible location downtown. I highly recommend not booking this location. The AC wasn't working. There was a leaky faucet all night and a terrible leak in the closet. I booked through Expedia for 3 nights and checked out early with the front desk. I asked if there were any issues checking out a day early, and they said "no". Now I can't get my refund for the last night because the motel won't allow it. Spoke with Mia and Jason, and they refused. Unless you are destitute, I would not recommend staying in this particular location EVER!

The attendant at the front desk was really quite rude in both checking in and checking out. There was a $100 hold placed on my card for “incidentals” she did a horrible job in explaining this. We were told the hold would be credited back to my card within 24 hours of checking out, at this point we’re over 48 hours from checking out and the hold is still on my card. However I will say the beds are very comfortable and the downtown location is great.

The hotel was relatively cheap to everything around it and still provided for a comfortable and safe stay. Location is also a short 10-20 minute walk from downtown with a lot of dining options.

Nice staff To many homeless people

Great location. Helpful and friendly staff. Dated, and a little dingy, but clean and comfortable. As with all downtown hotels the location was ideal for entertainment, but also close to homelessness.

It was a good breakfast, and parking was safe.

PROS: Downtown location CONS: Not well maintained - holes in wall in bathroom very poorly patched (by a 6 year old?) Understaffed front desk - took way too long to check out MEDIUM: Breakfast buffet - pretty good for a free breakfast - waffles, breads, cereal, yogurt, bacon, sausage, eggs, fruit juice, coffee, etc... However, it ends at 9, which is a little early, especially on a Sunday. Also, make sure you get there early as they stop restocking the buffet around 8:30. The first day, we had the full selection while, the second day, we arrived a little later and there was no fruit, sweet rolls or bacon left. It would be nice if they kept the buffet full until it officially ends.
