We stayed in the front room with two twins. the room was very clean and moderately spacious. The host, John, was very friendly and accommodating. He makes a delicious breakfast. No elevator, but John accommodated us with a lower-floor room. We will consider staying again when in Southampton.

Staff, service, and facilities were excellent for one night (two people) and excellent value. The homemade breakfast was also excellent. The building and facilities were all clean and well maintained although a little older. The neighborhood was clean, safe, and quiet although a fun ten to fifteen-minute walk to restaurants and places to see and a comfortable thirty-minute walk from old downtown. Hotels closer to these amenities are noisier, more expensive, and don't have the same English charm that we enjoyed here. We would gladly stay here again if/when we visit this area again, especially if going on a cruise ship since the hotel/lodge is a short distance to the cruise docks.

About a mile from the train station and a little further for the cruise terminal. We were able to walk to our ship. Dining option within a 10 minute walk. Great Pizza where we ate. Facility is clean, good sized, and has a good breakfast. Would stay again with its convenience and reasonable price.

This little lodge gave us a good taste of England before a cruise the next day. The building is much older than a main-stream hotel but is well maintained. Our room was on the first floor, which was a blessing when we looked at the steep stairs going to the second floor! (2 women friends in our 70s) Our room was very small; no space to put our suitcases. The bathroom was also very small. Altogether smaller than our inside cabin on our ship. But, for the price... etc. No places to eat without a sizable walk. Our host showed us where a grocery store was and we made do. Long walk, though.

What a lovely little place for our overnight stay prior to our cruise ! Absolutely spotlessly clean and John the host couldn’t do enough for us. Very convenient for the train station and town centre. Our breakfast was perfect with lovely high quality fresh ingredients made to order with lots of choice. We cannot fault this place and highly recommend ! Thank You we will be back

The host was friendly and very helpful. The place was spotlessly clean in both the public areas and the room. I liked the free wifi. I liked that the bathroom was a good size, even though I was staying in a smaller single room. Everything was in good working order and the property is excellent value for money.

Received a warm welcome upon arrival from the lodge's very helpful host. I needed a taxi for the morning and he recommended a cab company that turned out to be excellent. My room and its en-suite bathroom were remarkably clean. The only thing that wasn't pristine was the kettle, but I happily used it. Comfy bed that felt fresh. Firm mattress, I usually prefer soft but I liked it. The whole place had a very home-like atmosphere. The room felt cosy and was genuinely nice to be in, particularly in the evening and at night. I appreciated the decent WiFi, along with the vast number of power sockets available to use in the room, and also that all appliances had been recently PAT tested. Walls were a little thin, heard conversations happening downstairs but couldn't exactly hear what was being said, and this wasn't particularly disturbing - just felt like being in a house. The location was great for Southampton Central train station, and the street was quiet on a Saturday night. Very good value for money, particularly for a weekend in Southampton. Overall, comfy and clean accommodation at a very reasonable price. Landguard Lodge clearly has a caring and careful owner.

Friendly, helpful host; comfortable, clean room with teas and coffees. Quiet location walking distance from town, shops, etc, and not far from cruise port. Ensuite bathroom was compact but clean, with a good shower. Just what we needed ahead of a cruise.

I booked for one night in a single room, it was locsted in the middle of property. The bed a very comfortable and the en-suite was spacious. The property is locsted a 15 min walk into the centre. It is also quiet which is nice for a city location. My only grip is the outdated curtains and bed sheet but other than that i would definitely stay again.

The host was very helpful when I arrived at 1pm following my flight from Seattle and train ride to Southampton. He made my room available upon arrival. The bed was very comfortable, and the room clean and functional. The inn was very quiet during my stay, which helped me move through my jet lag.

Nice, quiet place to stay. We had jet lag, so mostly just slept here. About 30 min walk to Titanic museum, which we enjoyed. Full English breakfast for about $10 pp. we would return if in the area.

About a mile from the train station and a little further for the cruise terminal. We were able to walk to our ship. Dining option within a 10 minute walk. Great Pizza where we ate. Facility is clean, good sized, and has a good breakfast. Would stay again with its convenience and reasonable price.

Received a warm welcome upon arrival from the lodge's very helpful host. I needed a taxi for the morning and he recommended a cab company that turned out to be excellent. My room and its en-suite bathroom were remarkably clean. The only thing that wasn't pristine was the kettle, but I happily used it. Comfy bed that felt fresh. Firm mattress, I usually prefer soft but I liked it. The whole place had a very home-like atmosphere. The room felt cosy and was genuinely nice to be in, particularly in the evening and at night. I appreciated the decent WiFi, along with the vast number of power sockets available to use in the room, and also that all appliances had been recently PAT tested. Walls were a little thin, heard conversations happening downstairs but couldn't exactly hear what was being said, and this wasn't particularly disturbing - just felt like being in a house. The location was great for Southampton Central train station, and the street was quiet on a Saturday night. Very good value for money, particularly for a weekend in Southampton. Overall, comfy and clean accommodation at a very reasonable price. Landguard Lodge clearly has a caring and careful owner.

We stayed in the front room with two twins. the room was very clean and moderately spacious. The host, John, was very friendly and accommodating. He makes a delicious breakfast. No elevator, but John accommodated us with a lower-floor room. We will consider staying again when in Southampton.

Nice, quiet place to stay. We had jet lag, so mostly just slept here. About 30 min walk to Titanic museum, which we enjoyed. Full English breakfast for about $10 pp. we would return if in the area.

John did an excellent English breakfast- the web site did not mention was available. Better to eat dinner on arrival near the train station (1/2 mile) than the awful take out closer to the lodge. Will definitely stay there on any future trip,

this is one of the best bed-and-breakfast we have ever stayed. The manager. Owner was incredibly helpful on everything accommodating us in the best way possible it was a joy to stay there incredibly accessible and very reasonably price. One of the best ones.
