Riu Cancun - Adults Only - All Inclusive

Staff are wonderful and informative, lots of variety in cuisine, the rooms are clean and modern. However, there are only 3 small elevators for the entire hotel and often takes a while to wait during peak times such as meal times or check in/check out so i would often take the stairs instead of waiting. Overall great first all-inclusive experience.

This Hotel has it all from the beaches to the views. They have a sports bar that serves Alcohol and snacks 24/7 I couldn’t believe it but it’s true there are no reservations required at any restaurant which I loved not that long of wait time on those they also have a night club the RIU entertainment was awesome every day by the pool and at night on the stage totally worth staying here I’ll be back myself!

Service Sarah in charge of the hotel the best and alwyas making sure as clients have the best attention, Juan, Julio, Adrian, Beacon, Diana, Silvino all are amazing workers and they make us feel like we are at home. One only request is gym needs better equipment and bigger place. I been coming since the renewal of the hotel and equipment hasn't been upgrade and some equipment is out of service. Staff is exceptionally good. 4 Parties, alcohol and 6-7 restaurants are all included in the all inclusive deal. Plenty of open bars around every few steps. We went for our honeymoon for a week and had the best experience here.

We enjoyed our stay here, staff were amazing and the activities they had for us were fun. We had access to the Riu Party at the Caribe via free shuttles that came every 10-15 mins; pool parties were fun. We didn’t like that the pool closed at 7:00pm but understand that it was for treatment purposes. As well restaurants closed at 9:30pm so their last seating were basically 8:30pm. So if you get hungry past that you either eat at the buffet again until 10:00pm or hots/burgers/sandwiches that were from the Sports Bar made from earlier in the day or go off the resort to find a place.

Area was always clean everywhere. Staff was super friendly and helpful when needed. I only wish the gym would be bigger and have more equipment options. All the in house restaurants were awesome and great food.

Good hotel, great staff, food was really good this time! LOVE THE RIU PARTY!! So awesome the setup they have. Themed parties, with live dj, entertainment, swimup bars, Food, drinks, and its included! Check the pictures out on their site. The transport to the Riu caribe(location of riu party) are buses that take you and you can come back any time. I would definitely recommend for couples of all ages and singles. Dope atmosphere and felt 100% safe! The hotel Riu Cancun itself has a club down stairs with a theater they put on shows. Definitely worth it!

The property was well kept, but showing its age. The air conditioning could barely keep up in the rooms. If not for a ceiling fan it would have been unbearable. There was no air in the powder room so doing makeup and hair was difficult. The beach was nasty - terrible seaweed which made the water look and smell bad. We never stepped on the beach. The pool was very nice with plenty of loungers and umbrellas. The food was below average - even for a non-foodie. Service was good and the workers were polite. The shows were great - loved the Michael Jackson and Folklorico shows. ABBA tribute was not great. Overall a good time, but we will stick to Isla Mujeres from now on.

My boyfriend and I recently stayed here for 7 nights for a little getaway. Overall, we had a nice time. Unfortunately, a few things occurred that negatively impacted our stay. The room key cards were super sensitive and would randomly stop working. The staff informed us that if we kept the key card close to our phones, that it would most likely interfere with the technology of the key card, causing us to have to go back to the front desk every single day for a new key card. (Nearly impossible to separate a key card from your phone when they’re side by side in your wallet). We also felt the night life (on the actual Hotel Riu Cancun property) lacked development. (We didn’t attend the Hotel Riu Caribe party that they frequently advertise about). In relation to the Riu Cancun night life, the Riu app itself lacked details about the events, making it difficult to plan our evenings accordingly. Otherwise, great service, friendly staff, excellent and attentive housekeeping, good restaurants, and fun pool activities. We also very much enjoyed the beach, pools and swim up bar. My overall rating is 8 out of 10.

Decent property for the price but would be more appropriate at $200/night. Lobby was nice and modern, rooms have heavy wear. Bed was mediocre. Not a great hotel if you have a fear of heights: glass elevator, hallways have floor to ceiling windows overlookong the bay. Mini bar did have full size bottles of liquor so a major plus. RIU has an app that allows you to order maid service items and mini bar restocks without having to talk to a person, major plus for social anxiety. You can also preview the menus at restaurants (not buffet) on the app as well. The buffet made it easy to make healthy, low carb, or keto choices. Variety was great and many items were rotated daily. Restaurants were less than flexible. Menu is very set and food isnt really made to order. No customization on food there and very small menus at each. All of the food we ate was wonderful. Drinks were strong but bartenders were rarely willing to make anything other than what was in the preset cocktail menu. All were heavy on sugar and it was difficult to get drinks for my keto diet. No poolside servers made it necessary to walk all the way to the bar for each drink, less than ideal. Pool side taco bar was nice and food was good but same everyday. Beach is nice and clean but small and non existent during high tide. 4 pools but no hot tub. Overall not bad. Did not meet our fundamental needs but could be a great deal if your needs are different and you can get a great price.

Por desgracia me fue muy mal, tuve picaduras de chinche. No tienen cerveza corona y no tienen variedad de cerveza Solo hay un puesto de toalla Solo en una de las piscina tiene bar y las otras no hay servicio de camarero hay que ir a las barras de adentro y no les gusta que entres mojado, por lo menos a nosotros nos dijeron que no podíamos entrar mojado. Con respecto a la comida no vi variedad de carne Pero lo más lamentable fueron mis picadas me dejaron marcas visibles en mis piernas

Overall, I was unsatisfied with my stay here. The building is outdated. Elevator is small and was shaking at some points. The first room we were booked had a moldy smell and I could see mold on the walls. I asked for another room which they accommodated. The walls are thin and you can hear people talking in the next room. The blankets and beach towels had brown stains on them. When you contact housekeeping to bring items they take a very long time. There is no room service and all restaurants closed by 10:30 pm. The liquor is water downed. The resort is small, not much activities to do. The food is good. I would not recommend staying here unless you have a low budget and okay with the bare minimum.

Place was very clean and updated. the crew was amazing. I enjoyed my stay there at RIU CANCUN.

Couldn’t wait to leave this place. They ruined my vacation. - Air from AC vents smells like urine. They sent someone to fix it, but it wasn’t fixed, it just got worse. - The room TV does not connect to internet (disabled by hotel). No casting or screen mirroring allowed too. In 2025, It was not an option to spend a relaxing time or watch a Netflix movie at night. - Room cards do not work, you repeatedly go down to reactivate. They tell you not to bring it close to your phone. I never did, yet they malfunction. This, especially, made the vacation very very hectic. - Food is not great too. Very oily and sub average.

I recently stayed at the Riu Cancun and was extremely disappointed. The beds were dirty, there was mold in the shower, and I even encountered bugs in the room. They still use outdated physical room keys that deactivate if they get near a phone or any electronics super inconvenient. The food was mediocre at best and definitely not what you’d expect for the price. Overall, this was a terrible experience, and I would not stay here again or recommend it to anyone.

Very clean room, all staff were kind and doing they job with smile in they face, food was amazing and they have lots of games and shows to keep you entretained all time

I had a great time. Staff is very courteous and friendly. Cleanliness … not the best. The fridge and bathroom were dirty. I requested a cleaning but it didn’t improve. Although the common areas are excellent, I don’t think I am coming back to that particular hotel.

Very clean, nice staff, beautiful grounds and pools, soft sandy beach, mostly good food. Had some nice entertainment in the theatre but it would have been nice to have a music/dancing bar that wasn't just techno.

The room looked like a motel room, pictures online 100% edited. Bed was hard, only had sheets didn't get a comforter or blanket to sleep with, AC didn't work room stayed at 75-80, shower was disgusting, not sure if they even cleaned our room, alcohol is cheap and nasty, pool is also nasty half the time from people dropping drinks or using it to pee. People fighting almost daily throughout the hotel, the food was absoletly disgusting!!!! I wouldn't feed it to my dog, it sits out all day and they reuse stuff they didn't give away prior, the soda machines smell rotten and clearly do not get cleaned regularly. Food had no seasoning or was dry, food looks decent to the eye but taste awful. Was in Cancun Mexico but had the worst tacos I've ever had how does that make sense. Their Mexico food was awful and so was their American food so not sure what your supposed to eat. Also room service requests took days. Took me calling 3 times to get more bottles of water so I could brush my teeth. Staff lazy and rude half the time, don't do anything in a timely manner. Awful experience never recommend to my worst enemy!!!!

Stayed for 6 days. Room was nice but bed was springy and uncomfortable. Had issues with TV not working. Room temp was okay but couldn't get it cooler. A lot of food was buffet style and nice options. Staff everywhere was very friendly and helpful.

Had a great time at Riu Cancun! The location is amazing, food and drinks were great, and the staff was super friendly. My only suggestion would be to update the bedrooms — I could hear everything going on next door, and the TVs and room decor could use a more modern touch. Overall still a great experience!

Overall I had a good time on the property. The activities were kept me engaged and the staff was very friendly. However the rooms definitely need an upgrade the bathroom and room decor are outdated. My biggest issue was with my room key. I constantly had to go to guest services for them to reset it because it wouldn’t open my door.

We stayed on the 15th floor. It was extremely hot all nights. We are from Texas and we love a good cold night to sleep. Make sure you bring a portable fan.

Ocean view was excellent, room very clean, very friendly staff and professional.

Hallways were outdated, terrible key cards that lock you put or door sensors die out of battery. Frustrating when trying to get into your room.

The menu was fine. The rooms are just cool enough on max. A/C could be improved foe sure.

Rooms are nice, views fantastic, don't waste your time at the restaurants, you'll find yourself being happy with the buffet. But at night it was hard to sleep because the partying noise outside was loud every night till 2am

Excellent accommodations, the staff is very nice and helpful. They decorated the room and everything. Most definitely recommend. I will be coming back.

They stole from me and my roommates suitcases…. And reception was rude about it and not helpful at all.. bullshittt if you ask me Instead of helping or apologizing or anything they blamed me and they swore they didnt steal then they said if u dont like it call the cops

food was subpar, service was incredibly subpar and just straight up rude, they are also very prejudice toward african americans and black people. if i could give 0 stars, i would.

This was the 3rd time staying a Riu and each time the staff is what makes it amazing!! They are hardworking and make everything fun! Our favorite bartenders ale and Angie and our massages at the spa were amazing from Erica!!! Those ladies deserve a raise. We did suit option and it took our breath away! Take all these reviews with a grain of salt we were so impressed for a third time. Beautifully clean and we will be back.

The housekeeping staff is constantly cleaning all aspects of the property. They work very hard. The wait staff is super nice and have bosses that help them (Limbert, Moshan, and Miguel...thank you!!) I cannot say enough about the bartenders......Jesus, Samuel, Jose, Maggy, David, and especially Manuel.....y'all are the best if the best!!! I cannot forget Javier, whi kept us in drinks by the pool. The staff is our reason for returning!! Thank you all again!!

Had a beautiful ocean view. Was close to the Ultramar to taxi over to Isla Mejeres. Very friendly and accommodating staff.

I liked that the property was in walking distance to downtown where the clubs and restaurants are located. I have stayed at many Riu properties and the food at the Riu Cancun was better than most. The entertainment was enjoyable and the staff were friendly. The beach had little seaweed because the staff were cleaning it daily. I would go back again.

Nice rooms and hotel, pools are nice and lots of activities. Only issues were the water in the beach had so much seaweed on the shore, made it so I didn’t want to swim in the ocean by the hotel, and I wish there were more late night food options, and I wish the pools were open longer than 7pm. Overall experience was good, friendly staff, good food, good drinks.

Great location, walking distance to bars, flea markets and other shops. Felt safe walking around. The staff at the hotel was really nice, clean resort. The food was amazing, but I did not like the Italian restaurant they had. Even the buffet had delicious food.

Food was awful

Staff was courteous, food was poor, no top shelf liquor, no blanket in the rooms. There was only one restaurant open during the day, which was the buffet. The food was below average. All the other restaurants didn’t open until 6:00 pm for dinner. The only late night food option was cold hamburgers and hot dogs that you had to heat up in a microwave. There were 2 English movie channels, all the other movie channels were in Spanish.

Loved the variety of options the buffet provided. It wasn't the same thing everyday. Wished the restaurants were open for 1 more hour later for dinner

We had a great time. We weren’t impressed with the buffet but very much enjoyed the speciality restaurants. We took an uber to La Isla good shopping and the casino was fun too.

Great service and clean room always. Very friendly staff. The food was cold sometimes. Happened more chance on at the buffet.
